Automatic Duck.< </div>
While true, AutoDuck is expensive overkill for most of us. I've been using After Effects with Media 100 and FCP for more than a decade without ever needing a tool like AD (although M100 did have something similar built right into it, I just didn't use it very often).
Moving FCP sequences in and out of AE requires sophisticated tools like AutmaticDuck. Moving a simple video file in and out of AE is a drag and drop situation. Mostly.
Try telling us what you're trying to do.

  • The most effective way from varchar2 to CLOB?

this is my table's TAB structure on Oracle 10g r2:
    TAB_ID (PK),
TAB2_ID (FK constraint to TAB2(TAB2_ID), index created),
    TEXT varchar2(4000)
What is the most effective way to convert varchar2(4000) column to CLOB column?
    1. create new table TAB_NEW with column TEXT as CLOB,
then insert /*+ APPEND */ into TAB_NEW SELECT * FROM TAB,
then rename table TAB to TAB_OLD,
    then drop constraint and indexes
    then rename TAB_new to TAB
then add constraints primary key and foreign key,
    then add index on TAB2_ID
    then drop table TAB_OLD
    OR
    2. rename column TEXT(varchar2) to TEXT_OLD
    then add column TEXT(type CLOB)
then update(how the most effective?) TAB set TEXT=TEXT_OLD
    drop column TEXT_OLD.

1 will work, as you can assign a VARCHAR2 to a CLOB and Oracle will convert it.
    2 is redundant.

  • What's the most effective way to speed up AVCHD video editing?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the same problem, my wife and I have a small wedding videography company, I film jobs on weekends when I'm not working full time and my wife stays home with our 2 year old daughter and edits during the week.
When jobs come in we both are using our macbook pro's for the import process because it takes SOOO long to import all the avchd clips.  We're filming with the Panasonic HMC40 shooting in 720/30p on Class 10 16GB SDHC Cards.
I have an early 2008 macbook pro, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo 2GB of ram, and my wife has a 2010 unibody with a dual core i5 w/ 4GB of ram.
As a test, I imported an 8 minute and 47 second clip in my machine, and the import takes 20:39.  I went to my local apple store and ran the same import test on brand new machines and here are the results:
mbp Core 2 duo 2GB ram time: 20:39 (my machine)
mbp dual core i5 4GB ram time: 7:08 (my wife's machine)
mbp quad core i7 4GB ram time: 4:50
    mba core 2 duo 1.86Ghz 2GB ram SSD 64GB drive time: 12:17
imac quad core 2.7Ghz 4GB ram time: 4:54
    imac quad core 2.8Ghz 3GB ram 4:27
    mac pro 2.8Ghz 3GB ram 3:42
I watched the quad core i7 macbook pro's performance monitor, and at one point it had 63 iMovie threads running to import the footage.  The biggest bottleneck for importing avchd seems to be the processor.  With an import time of about have of the real time, that has the biggest appeal to me, but comes at a starting price of $1799 + tax, and is expensive.
What I'm looking for is the most cost effective way to cut down on import and export times for either new hardware or software.  I haven't tested the elgato h.264 HD encoder yet, nor have I tested the new Final Cut X.  Has anyone done this? What about Adobe Premier Elments or Premier Pro
Our compeditors are offering 'same day edit' services, and making basically a trailer of the events that happen at the ceremony, then editing them on site in a 3-4 hour time window between the ceremony and reception, then using a projector and screen to show that trailer at the beginning of the reception, usually added to the slide show.
That's the kind of thing that we want to be able to do for our customers, but also to cut down the massive amount of editing time it takes to get every finished product out the door.
What does everyone think?  Is the elgato h.264 HD encoder worth it?  Is there a more professional avchd / h.264 hardware / software solution that can speed up the import process faster?
I'd love to know everyone's thoughts.
    Thanks.

    One thing you might consider...
Go to Final Cut Pro X.
In FCP 10, you can import AVCHD and begin editing immediately. You can edit natively in AVCHD if your needs are very simple, but most people would use FCP to "optimize" the AVCHD to ProRes 422, which is an intermediate codec like Apple Intermediate Codec, but provides higher quality. The optimizing to ProRes 422 as well as analyzing for stabilization, sound, and color takes place in the background if you have cores available.
But you can edit immediately, and as the optimized clips become available, FCP will automatically use them instead of the AVCHD clips.

  • Issue with importing effects settings from 3.0 to CS5.5

Several times I've attempted to import effects settings from 3.0 into 5.5 using the 5.5 Import>Application Settings function.  Each time it says that it is unable to do it because of some unknown error.  Is there another way to import the settings?  I'm in the middle of an album project in 3.0.1 and would like to try 5.5 with some of these existing sessions.  I've used the SuiteSpot studios Ses2Sesx program to translate the session.  It imports fine, but none of the effects or racks import.  I very much want to be able to do that.

    Hi Michael,
These effects are mostly external VSTs, but a few of them are native
(Parametric EQ).  The program will just not import the settings .xml
file or the vstmanager settings .xml.  The VSTs seemed to have been
found easily by the program.  I have not yet gone through them all to
see if they will pop up.
Another interesting thing - when I installed AACS5.5 I lost the ability
to open AA 3.0.1.  I had to reinstall 3.0.1 in order to be able to use it.
I'm not liking this program at all.  I don't like the interface, the
GUI, or the navigation through the program.

  • Transferring from Vegas to FCP

    hi all,
has anyone had to / managed to transfer a work in progress from Vegas (PC) to Final Cut Pro (Mac) successfully?
From what i can see, Vegas can export AAF, but FCP can't read it.
FCP can read XML, but Vegas can't export it.
Tried exporting an EDL from Vegas, but FCP won't read it!?
    HELP
    nG

We used to use 'Cui Bono - EDL Convert' to make DAW's talk. We would go from/to VEGAS Pro Tools Cool Edit Pro. It seemed to work well enough to get the info out of one and into the other. Naturally, we still had to do some tweaking to get things totally back in order. But this was when I was heavy into Audio Production. I'm not sure if 'Cui Bono - EDL Convert' does video. You may want to check 'em out and see what there Support recommends.
The guys I work with at a local Studio are telling me to bring the project in, Export to AVID, then let the AVID Exort to FCP. Obviously I can't do that but if you have an AVID readily available... this may work for you.
3rd suggestion is to look into 'Automatic Duck'. They have a plugin that will convert VEGAS FCP.
4th - I would say... do this project in VEGAS.
Personally, my VEGAS system is SOLID. Once I get a project there, it usually stays there till Final Export.
Remembering my days of Audio work and trying to go back and forth between DAW's using EDL's... I do NOT want to go back. This sometimes creates more of a Headache than it's worth. All the time you spend trying to get it to translate correctly could be spent Editing. The Frustration is NOT why I'm in it... I like the SATISFACTION of a completed project.
Nowadays... I Map out my Projects before I start them so I sort of have an Idea as to what/where it will need to go and at what stage in the process. Same as I StoryBoard in PreProduction... I also StoryBoard in PostProduction. May be OverKill but I've found myself running into less problems that way.

  • How to import music file from itunes to fcp?

thanks in advance. I burned from itunes a track on to a cd. then tried to upload from cd to fcp. it plays for about 5 seconds, then stops with error msgs:
    "turn off unlim rt"
    lower compression rate"
or "lower pref for real time audio track"
I'm new to fcp and am stuck. can't find help in the books either. any way to just lift a music file straight from itunes to fcp.
    thanks.

The "media drive" isn't a mac thing...it is a video editing thing. This is a drive that is separate from your main computer's hard drive where you store ALL of your captured footage, audio, video elements, graphics, still photos...everything you use in your video project. You should NOT be using your system drive for this.
This drive, on the low end, can be a firewire drive. 7200RPM at least.
You need to copy the music files OFF of the CD and onto your media drive...and you really should be organized about this. Organization is a HUGE part of video editing.

  • What is the effective way to Send an Email using SmtpClient Class?

    Hi Everyone
What is the effective way to Send an Email using SmtpClient Class.
    Thanks

    Hi Shaheena
The SmtpClient class is used to send e-mail to an SMTP server for delivery.

  • What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

As your Mac should run Snow Leopard provided it has at least 1GB memory, that would be a good deal easier and very much cheaper than trying to find a 10.5 install disc.
Snow Leopard costs $30 approx from the online Apple store (£26 if you're in UK)
You'll need to update Tiger to 10.4.11 with the combo installer first (unless you're just erasing the disc and starting fresh) You can then update SL from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 with its combo installer.
For comparison, 10.5 Leopard is currently running about $130 from Apple (if still available) and more on Amazon etc.
    This info for Leopard courtesy of TexasMacMan;
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation system requirements

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

  • More effective way to do this page with one recordset instead of four?

I just created a homepage for a client that is supposed to display real estate properties from four different categories sorted by the most expensive rent. Only way it seemed I could do it was to create a Query using QuB and then from that creating four recordsets. One for each category: Single/Studio Apartments, One Bedroom Apartments, Two Bedroom Apartments and Three Bedroom Apartments. Resulting page is here:
    http://209.62.4.98/~parishpr/index.php
So yes, it does work and display nicely. But I'm wondering if there's a more effective way to do this using ADDT with just one recordset since I'm still kind of new to all this. The PHP code is posted here if you want to peek at what I did:
    http://209.62.4.98/~parishpr/index.txt

    Hello Adam
i am afraid that there is no way to accomplish that cause you need in your case to view the four categories in the same page without any link points to them.
so the best way that what you did four record sets will do it fine.
i made such project before and you can have a look:

  • Effective way of monitoring uRPF violations

    From
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/security/configuration/guide/scfrpf.html#wp1001215
There is seems to be no effective direct method for monitoring uRPF violations.
The only indrect method seems to be having a "deny ip any any log" ACL and attach to the uRPF configuration.  However this is a bit risky if someone is flooding the system with uRPF failed packets.
Does any one have more effective way for it?  Thanks.

Check if you have SNMP support for it.

  • Effective way of CAPS Installation

I just got CAPS from Sun Indonesia, and now want to learn it,
anyone can help me to start with it?
what is the effective way to install it and play around.
    in linux or windows?

Installing Java CAPS is a fairly involved process. The basic steps are to install the repository server, load the modules you want to use into the repository, then install modules from the repository to your development machine.
The best document to start reading is the "Java Composite Application Platform Suite Installation Guide" which is on the repository cd #1.
It's hard to know what modules you will want to install in your repository, since that depends on what you eventually want to do, but at a minimum you will want to install, eGate, logicalhost, eDesigner, SVG plugins, eWays (file, batch, and probably oracle), eInsight (BPM), eVision, enterprise manager, and the uddi server.

  • Best workflow for image (LOGO) from Illustrator to FCP?

Greetings to all. I am struggling with this -- I want to bring my company logo into FCP 5.1.4, FROM Illustrator to FCP. Easy enough? Not for me.. as I have two issues:
    1. My imported image looks great in the viewer, but jaggies in the Canvas.
I understand that for DV NTSC 48k, my frame size is 720x480 -- but in another post, I read that it is best to export as 720x540, .tif (another person said 720x540 jpeg, because jpeg embeds sRGB proile -- but that will be part of question #2) -- the square pixel vs. 4:3 pixel issue...
My Illustrator image is all vector art, and all fonts are outlined before export. I am saving as high-res (300 dpi). I tried saving as tif, jpeg, pdf. I tried bringing the PDF into photoshop, and saving as a psd. I tried opening pdf. No matter what I tried, the image looked perfect in the viewer, but like doo in the canvas. A tif, file size 720x540, 300dpi looks correct in the viewer, but jaggie in the canvas.
YES, the green "render" bar was visible in the timeline -- of course, that must be the problem -- but then I rendered the still clip, and there was no difference. I made sure the render indicator in the timeline was "dark grey" -- but yet, the imported still image from illustrator looks jaggie and not good enough for production in the canvas.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?
    2. Color space -- regardless of the jaggies issues, my imported still image from illustrator is all washed out when imported.
Regardless of file type. Yes, file set to RGB. Yes, gamma set to 2.2 (also tried setting imported still gamma to defualt - "source" - no change)
My LCD display (mac book pro C2D 17") is calibrated, using a Spyder2. Gamma is set to 2.2. My print output from illustrator (saved as pdf x-1/a) ALWAYS prints as expected.
If I add a color correction filter, and juice up the saturation, I can try to make the still image look close, but this shouldn't be the case, YES?
My expectation is that a still image in illustrator or photoshop should look the same in FCP.
What kind of newbie error am I making? What am I missing?
Thank in advance for any guidance.
    Jeremy

    Jeremy Roberts wrote:
I have been sending jobs to print (magazine ads, web, general print) for ages, and my printed materials come in as expected -- that is, within a few % points of my display -- which is what we are expecting -- and also EXTREMELY close to proof prints, using a reasonably high-end inkjet printer, with correct paper profiles... that is to say, that although I am no expert in color management by any means, I have what I need so that what I see on screen is very close to what is printed on a local printer, or a million dollar press.
CAN I EXPECT to achieve anything close to this with video?
When you print something on paper, you get to see exactly what it will look like and that's exactly how your customers will see it too. With video, there are infinite variables affecting this such as incorrectly calibrated displays; cheap TV components; the difference between CRTs, LCDs and computer displays; the size / resolution of the display, etc. There are so many variables that it will look different on every screen. All we can do as content producers is calibrate to a common standard, achieved through a properly-calibrated broadcast monitor.
But if your film has a single use in mind, such as a trade show, it is better to ignore the above advice and use the display device it will end up on as the monitoring device, if you can.
I am not near my FCP machine right now, so I can't try the test -- but I will try to revert my display color profile to stock apple LCD, and see what this brings. I know that FCP has simply NOT looked correct to me on my machine.
What do the "big guns" who are using FCP and having to use pre-defined creative print elements, created in AI or Photoshop or whatever -- all color matched for print, what do you guys do when you need to integrate this into FCP?
ARE FCP editors using Apple's 1.8 gamma (I guess you must because FCP uses it regardless of your colorsync profile, per the above article). ???
I set it to Source and have had no problems because I create still images on the same machine with the default gamma of 1.8. I think what happened was you created the images in Photoshop with a colorsync profile of 2.2 on the monitor but perhaps a different profile embedded (if any). When you brought it into FCP, FCP automatically assumed it was created at a gamma of 1.8 and boosted to 2.2 but as the images was not created at 1.8, it was already very bright to begin with and so was boosted x2. That's my theory.

I have adobe acrobat pro for windows and it is freezing up when I try to convert a word file to pdf... I have tried to get this done six ways from Sunday but it is just not working... help!  Chris.

It would be helpful to know what version of Acrobat, WORD, and operating system.
Without that info, I would suggest at this point to open your WORD file and then go to the print menu and print to file using the Adobe PDF printer. Open the created file in Distiller and see if you get a PDF. If so, check to see if AcroTray is running in the background.
You say you tried many ways. It would help to know what you tried and what worked or did not work, and at what point the failure occurs.

  • Getting material from dvd in fcp

    Hi!
I don´t know how to get material (I suppose digibeta from TV) in fcp. I only get Video and Audio seperated! Will the quality of the material be better, if I get the original digibeta material?
    Help!
    Mel

I'm not sure what your situation is there, Melanie. Is the material encoded onto a viewable DVD? Or a QuickTime stored on it as a DVDROM? If encoded as a DVD, then yes, you would be far better off getting the original source tapes. If the QuickTimes are stored on a DVDROM, be sure to drag them to your media HD before using them, they won't playback fast enough from the DVD.
