Effectivity in ECR/ECO

Can some one help me to resolve my query?
We are having ECR system developed for existing system and we have not utilized all the provided features of SAP 4.6C
Now we are going for SAP ECC6.0 where-in we ant to use effectivity parameter for controlling the change process
Can somebody tell me something more on effectivity type like what are famous effectivity parameters and how they can help a business in controlling change process.... n where all it effect after change will take place...?

I may not be able to give fully satisfactory answer but this may help you in solving the problem
SAP gives two parameter effectivity one as DATE and other as SERIAL NO
apart from choosing parameter effectivity for change on material, you have link these changes with release key then assign them priorties and rank
after which system check the changes on material in following manner and decide the valid change
1) change with release key
2) change with higher priority
3) change with higher rank
after this process system assign change to material
When you are doing change wrt SERNO then system checks only release key and then change with higher rank gets implemented
according your other processes get effected

Im trying to find out if its possible to automatically create an document info record and attach the document info record to the ECR/ECO (in background through Accompanying docs) when I create a new ECR/ECO through transaction CC31 or when I save the ECR/ECO.

ECR/ECO Authorization on system statuses - Coding help requested

HI PLM Gurus,
Unfortunately ( or that ,,,Iam not aware of)There is no SAP standard Authorization object to control a user setting a particular system status in ECR/ECO. This means by SAP's standard functionality any user who is authorized with authorization objects ECM_REQ and ECM_ORD in their role and all activities allowed, can set any statuses in ECR /ECO.
But typical business requirment in any change management requires the control status wise and so do we have one.
We knew this can be achieved by a custom authorization object. We have created a manual object but need help with coding to get the current status of the object for matching the authorization (allowed) values .
Any help is appreciated.

Just to clarify ,I knew about the exit and Iam using the same exit, I was trying to get help on the coding part . Identifying Exit is not a problem .( we have used this exit a number of times for different requirements in ECM, like checking the lab/office field for an object before setting a system status , defaulting a new version of document etc)
Update : Got a parameter ( a dynamic field value)which helped us code very easily
,,,,Can share with you .
For system level authorization checks ,one can use Digital signatures and this might be the reason for not having(SAP not providing) a standard authorization object for "system status check "in Standard SAP ECM Authorizations.

ECR/ECO Workflow not working for multiple Objects

Hello all,
We have implemented ECR/ECO workflow by customizing the SAP standard one. We are facing a problem when entering multiple ECO objects such as mutiple Documents, materials, BOMs etc. When we create the ECR, two parralel workflow start (one for ECM and other for ECO) and depending on how many ECO objects we have included, multiple instances of ECO workflows will trigger (I think this is the standard behaviour as well but not sure)
In our workflow, we have a wait step in ECO workflow that waits until ECM has been converted into ECO (ECOP status) and starts the ECO workflow. Also, we have created a Wait step in ECM workflow and that waits until the ECO workflows have reached the CONFIRMATED Step when the processing of the objects are finished.
When we enter one object, both workflows start and ECO waits until ECM has been converted into ECO and then start the processing the Objects. when the ECO workflow is done (Status confirmated), it switches back to ECM workflow and then goes on with Close/Release steps of the Objects/ECO etc.
But, when we have multiple ECO objects, both start well as ECR converts to ECO and the ECO starts and then work items are processed but then stops just before the CONRIMATED steps even though all objects are changed/maintained properly and ECO workflows are completed. As a result, the control doesn't refer back to ECM and we never get the ECO close and Release step work items.
I have checked SWETYPV, SWEL, business objects ECM and ECO but nothing gives a result..
Any help would be appreciated..

ECR/ECO & Object Mgmt Records

Hello All,
We are planning to implement the ECR/ECO process for the Engineering Change Process. I was trying to go thru the documentation for the same & seems overly complicated.
Can someone help me clarify the difference between ECR/ECO status & Object Mgmt Status & how they compliment each other in the system?? Couple of observations:
1. System allows ECR Check/Checked, Approval etc without an Object assignment, which doesnot make sense to me.
2. Once an ECR is created, there are certain actions that need to happen on the Object Mgmt Rec's before the further statuses can be activated on the ECR's. Where do I, on one single screen, see the status for both the ECR & the Obj Mgmt REc's.
If somebody can put these status things into perspective, it'll help clear the cob webs in my mind. I'm not able to figure out how I could fit this into my business, logically.

ECR/ECO problem with automated transactions

Hi Friends,
I have problem with automated close of ECR.
Description:
I have change number with one object - Inspection Plan.
In CC32 when "Incorrect Change" is set and I click "Erro Corrected" - nothink happen
(it should show popup with information that transaction cc06 was automated started)
After that when i choose "Release Change" - also nothing happen.
(it should shop popup and set status - "Close ECO")
Everything works ok on sandbox system but on Dev/Test/Prod it doesn't work.
Anybody now where could be a problem?

Change names from ECR/ECO system status screen (cc01, cc02)

Hi all,
Im working with ECM main screen (CC01, CC02) and the names assigned in the Standard process are not meeting tour needs and some steps are missing in order to cover all the specifications.
If in a easy way I could change the name of the system status steps ( for instance change Convert ECR into Start modifications) will be great and, if this change could be link to a type of ECR would be like a dream because this will meet all the client requirement.
Any comment or suggestion in how to do that? User status are not valid :S

Hi alberto,
I think you can't change it from "Convert ECR" to "Start Modifications" but you can use create your own Statuses as required and can be control through Status Profile where in you define this. and in first screen of CC31 or CC01 you need to make this "Profile" Field as Mandatory.
Change type can also be linked to Profile, this way your client requirement will be fulfiled.

Date effectivity - ECM

Dear All,
I am working on ECM using date effectivity.
I create a change master with date effectivity. But when I make changes to BOM using this change number the effects are not getting reflected.
For eg. I create a change request ( change no.) with effectivity type. I give the validity lower limit as 05.07.2007 date also upper limit as 05.07.2007 date i.e.if I make changes to BOM using this change no. should be valid for 05.07.2007 only. i.e. if I add a component in BOM that component should be displayed in production order which I create on 05.07.2007.
But this is not happening.
Please guide me in this.

CC01 initial screen when choose "With Release key" option then no need to
attach an objects to the ECR/ECO, Tik/select only "Actv" "Object" MgtRec"
use the change number to change the object BOM/Routing, i.e. until you release the Change Number you don't see the change in Production order.
This is the relevancy of Release key in ECM.
When you lock the release key, i.e. you cannot make the changes affect in the production order or in OCM i.e order change management. So locking prevents you to make affect of changes in OCM.
similarly for costing, Planning & Global.

Also please note that ECR / ECO process has considerably changed with the latest 7.01 release so if you are considering upgrade any time soon you better finish your SAP system upgrades before embarking on the ECM implementation.

ECM - Processing one object among many in the ECO

I am using ECR-ECO process for ECM. I have an ECR with 5 materials and 10 BOMs which became an ECO. Now If I decided to process one material change and release it to production. Is there a way to do this.

This is not possible using ECR-ECO in SAP i think.
May be seperate Change Number can be created and released for this purpose.

Material field not apprearing with parameter effectivity.

Hey SAP experts,
We are using serianumber parameter effectivity in ECR. Now we have one small issue the column material is not appearing next to the columns upper limit serial number and lower limit serial number.
I tired all the SPRO settings and MM settings, basic settings field selection etc....but nothing worked out....

KUNDE_LO is a data element , what ever kombi1 is defined i think that does not have any values maintained in the system.
or
Check whether any user exits or BAPI's used bringing the customer specifications.
You can also check the data element existence u might have done that .....

Problem to change Bom?

Hi,
Beacuse raw material be replaced, I need change the BOM.
When I use T-code cs02 to operate, I find that "valid from" and "valid to" is disabled, I can't change it.
If I directly change the material in the BOM, the changed of BOM is activated at once, but I hope the BOM become effective on the specific date.
Please give me the guide?

what you mentione dis write, it takes immediate effect,
if you want the validity you need to use Change mangement.
Engineering Change Management is a central logistics function that can be used to change various aspects of production basic data (for example, BOMs, task lists, materials, and documents ) with history (with date effectivity) or depending on specific conditions (with parameter effectivity).
A change with history has the following distinctive characteristics:
It takes effect under precisely defined conditions (precise date or specific effectivity parameter value).
The changed object is saved twice: in its state before and after the changes.
A change master record or ECR/ECO controls and documents the changes.
Choose Logistics --> Central functions -->Engineering change management --> Change master -->Create.
The Create Change Master: Initial Screen appears.
Enter an change number.
Do not enter anything if you want the system to assign a number itself
Select the type:
Change master
Select the change master record's function:
Without release key
enter-> write descriptin, valid date , change number status,then you get the object types select tick for active and object for you required data(ex BOm or routing) and click onobject F7, and enter the BOM materi code and save.
