Effects applying but not rendering

Hello fellow editors,
I recently starting having trouble with effects in FCP 6.0.3. I'm applying them to clips, they're appearing in the "filters" tab where I can tweak the parameters - but nothing actually happens to the video. For example, applying a brightness/contrast filter and tweaking it does absolutely nothing to the brightness and contrast in the viewfinder, even when I render it or export the video.
This has never happened to me before...I greatly appreciate your helping me fix this problem.

Check Studio's suggestion first, but also confirm for us exactly how you're applying the effects.
If you've used them before, you're probably doing it correctly, but if not done correctly, you'll not see the results, as you're experiencing.

my problem is this:-
At the moment calls are leaving on the first available channel of my h323 voice gateway PRI, I can apply this command to the interface fine but it makes no difference the b cannels are always being picked on a first come first served basis . I have also tried combination "isdn bchan-number-order decending" and "isdn bchan-number-order descending round-robin" but it makes no difference , the first b channel is always selected .
Any ideas , if you think its a bug can u identify the bug id as I cannot find it .

I can see that you use ascending , that why you hit 1st channel.You have to choose one of these commands ascending or descending
I have a question here , for your incoming calls which channel hits ?.FYI isdn bchan-number-order descending is enable by default , so if you need to change you have to type ascending. Can you just share incoming calls which channel hits?.This is because before you define your outgoing calls , you have to check your service provider channel used, and this to avoid error channel is not available.

Purpose
Enables B channel selection for outgoing calls on a PRI interface (optional).

Mask Crop Effect Working in Preview, but Not Rendering

Machine: iMac
Version: Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Updated this morning (1.27.15)
Editing an interview where the camera operator shows up in a reflection. To fix this, I grabbed an earlier shot without the camera person in that spot, looped the frames, placed it on a layer below the main footage, and cropped using a mask to let the looped footage show through (hiding the camera operator).
This looks fine in the preview, but when I render the footage, the person is there again, as if the crop mask just went away. I can't seem to correct this.

That was my first attempt this morning, but I was getting a weird effect: the cropped area was fine, but the entire bottom right quadrant of the screen was rendering the "cropped" footage as well. When I couldn't get this to stop, I decided to try it the other way around. I just added a bit of information that may be important: this footage is a multi-cam project.

GPO Policy 'Applied' but not taking effect unless gpupdate /force is run

I do not yet have a 2012 DC or a Win 8 machine to manage IE 10 / 11 settings via GPMC. So I have created a policy with a registry setting so that users in a specific OU get specific .PAC settings in IE 11.
This is a user policy - that is linked and enforced at the specific OU level. It is the last processed User Policy. It appears in the top GPRESULT command
on the workstations, however the policy is not listed below the policy list when you run with a /v for
verbose - is this because it is a registry change? Or part of the issue?
I can see the policy being found, downloaded AND applied in the GP logs on multiple workstations. There no errors from any system for me to track down.
If I open IE after logging on (with an account in the specific OU), I do not see the settings for the PAC file. If I close IE and run GPUPDATE
/Force, I can open IE and see the settings and note that they do work.
The policy is only for users in this OU, it is set for Authenticated Users as it applies to all users in the OU - though I have added a few test accounts for my use.

I agree with others. By default, on clients, it will take 90 minutes interval for group policy settings to get refreshed at background. If we need to immediately update group policy settings, as you know, we can run command gpupdate/force to do this.

Effects: Level settings not rendered correctly in export

I am having the following issue in Premiere Pro CS5.
I have an image sequence with alpha placed over some film footage. The sequence is supposed to blend with the real footage.
To do so, I have adjusted the sequence with a few effect filters.
The filer setup is as follows:
- levels
- shadow/highlight
- fast color corrector
- levels (this one is added later for just a little bit extra control)
In the program monitor it looks great, and the preview render on the timeline looks good. However, after exporting the media, the effect filters seem gone, or at least different from what it is supposed to be.
Anyone familiar with this problem?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the issue is not solved yet. Like Colin expected, it's already set to software (The option "GPU Accelerated" is disabled).
Some specs:
- It's an 720p24 project
- the overlay is an PNG sequence with alpha
In the export render settings "Use Maximum Render Quality" was selected. But deselecting it, gave the same result.
In "Sequence settings", the option "Maximum Render Quality" is also selected. What's the difference for these 2? Is it worth a try to deselect this option aswell?
Any thoughts of what it could be?
(if helpfull, I will try to post some screenshots of the problem)

Updates were applied but not showing up

I had a lot of updates for cs6 and I downloaded them and it said that the updates were applied....but when I open photoshop it is still 13.0. I am trying to update to the retina version. Anyone know why?

Lets examine the case of the backup that has been on the shelf a while.
I really would like to help, but this post does not really answer my two questions. If you want to troubleshoot this scenario, we're going to need some HARD information to work with.
WSUS reported (updates needed report) that there were 90+ updates available and approved for that machine
The computer reporded that there were no updates available.
My first eyebrow-raising moment here is the idea that a computer has 90+ updates
approved and available (and, ostensibly, cannot find any of them to be downloaded), and my very first question in response to raising that eyebrow is this: And all 90+ of those updates are NOT SUPERSEDED??? To which my second question would be: When
was the last time that machine had patches installed?
I took a look at another computer in the same OU and computer update group with the same initial install image and I see 12 updates available, all not yet approved for that group.
If the updates are Not Approved, then those updates are also Not Available.
I'll also point out here that the best way to approach this scenario is to believe what you see and investigate the reason why, rather than questioning the veracity of what's displayed in the console or the logs.
If the client says there are no updates available for installation, then that's the bottom line, and the proper response is to identify an update that
should be available for installation and determine why it's not being downloaded/installed.

ISSUE
The {suppliers} info appears but none of it is rendered out as HTML. Isn't the columnType="html" suppose to eliminate this issue? From reading the board it seems that people are talking about varying issues with different versions of SPRY. Any insight on what I should be doing different here? found, the issue - there was a section further down the XSLT file that needed the disable-output-escaping adding to (below is the original section) - once updated it worked like a charm - thanks

Actions in PSE10 Effects Folder, but not in Pallet. Rebuilt database file didn't work.

My PC installed updates last night & this a.m. all of my PSE 10 actions aren't in the effects pallet. I've rebuilt the database three times and it's not fixing it. The actions are in the photo creations folder. Ideas?

HT6093 Thunderbolt firmware 1.2 - applied but not working

I have tried to install the thunderbolt firmware 1.2 update. It said it succeeded but I still have blackout issues with my apple display and the firmware reported in the system report for my macbook pro is 23.4 instead of 26.2 (port micro version is correct though). Any ideas how to get the update applied properly?

Hi, I had this problem too, and finally I installed it.
Try to unplug any of your thunderbolt and usb devices and update it again. I couldn't install it before unplug them.

OpenDML Video from Capture but not Rendering

I created a simple video with the colors bars on my Premiere Pro CS3
Exported as DV AVI.
I have another file that was "capture" with the same Premiere Pro CS3
Here is the problem, one file is good all around but the other is not.
The one created from Premiere Pro CS3 ( Just the Color Bars ) do not work with many programs.
This is the container for that File:
DV Type 2 AVI
AVI v1.0
DV Audio/Video: 117 KB (0.10%)
AVI Copy of DV Audio: 109 MB (99.51%)
AVI Overhead: 442 KB (0.39%)
The one that works ok anywhere was created with Premiere Pro Capture Utility and
this is the container.
Compatibility Note: DV Type 1 AVI
OpenDML (AVI v2.0)
DV Audio/Video: 98.3 MB (99.66%)
AVI Overhead: 345 KB (0.34%)
How come I got 2 different files from Premiere Pro?

I know this is an old thread by now, but I'm having a similiar
problem or maybe the same.
We use a GeeVS-server with Matrox hardware to broadcast our television news. (The play-out-to-air-machine)
All files produced on a Matrox-hardware machine plays fine on that system - regardless of the length of the file.
All files produced on a out-of-the-box PC (HP, DELL, and so on) with Premiere Pro CS2, CS3 or CS4 will play normaly if it is under five minutes long (less than 1GB), and all files above 10 minutes (more than 2GB) will play fine. But anything in between those lenghts (from 5 to 10 minutes) will play incorrectly on or GeeVS server. This is the rule when we use the standard DV AVI codec or use the MS AVI with Matrox DVCAM codec option. ( The GeeVS accepts AVI files with on of those codecs - it will not accept QuickTime and so on. )
Our only way to work around this is to bring the files which are between 5 and 10 minutes into a Matrox-hardware system and re-export it.
Files created on a Matrox-hardware system, regardless of length, will show up in GSPOT as follows:
DV Type2 AVI
Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts)
(xxxx frames in first part, xxxx frames to follow)
Files created on a non-Matrox-system, under 10 minutes (less than 2GB), will show:
DV Type2 AVI
AVI v1.0
Files created on a non-Matrox-system, over 10 minutes (over 2GB), will show:
DV Type2 AVI
Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts)
(xxxx frames in first part, xxxx frames to follow)
As mentioned we do have a workaround for this problem, but it is time-consuming. Upgrading all the machines to Matrox-hardware is not an option. And replacing the GeeVS with another play-out-machine is also not an option.
Is there a way to make PremierePro, on a non-Matrox-system, produce the AVI-files as Multipart OpenDML regardless of the final length of the file? In other words: is there a way to make PremierePro export Multipart OpenDML AVI's when the project is shorter than 10 minutes (files smaller than 2GB)?
Or does anyone have another solution than my own workaround for this problem?

Safari bizarre bug: web page loading but not rendering

Discovered a very bizarre behavior in Safari 5.1 (OSX 10.6.8) in which, after logging in to a secure internet banking site, the subsequent page loads into the browser (address bar updates new url and source code reflects new page), but the screen fails to redraw the new page. The bizarre thing is that the previous page, which is still visible, is not functional, the links and navigation for the new page are, however. So I can continue navigating through the site blindly by finding links with the mouse hover state, all while the original log in screen still appears in the window. Cannot reproduce this on any other browsers, including Safari 5.0.6
Anyone have any insights or experience with this kind of behavior?

Write down the password to the banking site. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. Launch Safari and test. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and disable it if you wish.

Have Effective Permissions but not showing in Advanced Security in AD UC

I'm trying to find out where a user account is getting permissions to our Active Directory Users & Computers. On the entire domain it has the ability to modify all properties, modify permissions, change owner, and a bunch of stuff that it
shouldn't. I found this out when testing and verified it with using "effective permissions". The weird thing is, when looking at Advanced security, neither the user nor the security group it is in are explicitly given permissions anywhere
in ADUC. My question is: where could it be getting these rights? How do I find it if it's not in the Advanced Security Settings area of ADUC?
I know the problem is the security group and not the user account. After I removed the user account from its security group, it no longer had the extra permissions it shouldn't have.
TestUserA is a member of SecurityGroupA: TestUserA has rights to all of our AD domain (unexpected, not sure where the rights are coming from)
TestUserA removed from SecurityGroupA: TestUserA only has basic "read" rights to our AD domain (the desired level of permissions)
Any help or suggestions of where to find SecurityGroupA's permissions are coming from would be helpful. Thank you!

Any ideas? I would really like to know the answer to this question because there is no way for me to audit these permissions or know which other groups may be getting more permissions than expected.
I know for sure the user is getting permissions from SecurityGroupA. I can clearly see using Effective Permissions that TestUserA gets added permissions in AD when I add them to this group, and the permissions get removed when no longer a member of
this group. It's odd to me that this group isn't explicitly listed anywhere
in AD Security, and it isn't a member of any other groups. Where in the world are the permissions coming from? Viewing the Advanced Security through the mmc and running DCACLS are both useless. The permissions are completely invisible
to us unless we run Effective Permissions specifically against the user.
We are likely going to explicitly deny the group permissions since we cannot figure out how or why this group is getting permissions to AD. This is just a quick-fix, as there still might be other security holes in our environment.

"Media Pending" in Premiere CS5 (But not After Effects)

Hi All
I've seen links referring to this problem for CS4 but the solution did not seem to resolve the CS5 issue.
I can playback an MPEG file in After Effects CS5 but not in Premiere. Trying to export to a Premiere project made the system to hang and required a re-boot when opening in Premiere.
The video was renamed from a JVC .TOD file to a .MPEG file and plays back fine in Windows Media player, without any other files associated with it.
Strange that other apps play it fine and premiere not. Any suggestions?

As a matter of interest, in case anyone else gets the same issue...
Having opened the file in After Effects, re-booted and re-started Premiere, the file now plays back in Premiere. Even though I'd restarted Premiere several times, it appears that only after starting and opening the file in AE did the codec somehow get "registered" in Premiere...
Anyway, problem solved....

Policies Applying, but also disabled?

I'm a bit concern that my policies might not be applying as efficiently as possible. I've ran an html report and received the following:
Applied GPO':
GPO 1
GPO 2
GPO 3
GPO 4
GPO 5
Denied GPO's:
GPO 1
GPO 2
GPO 3
The reason denied given is: Blocked SOM
A little bit about the AD structure. The OU in question has "blocked inheritance enabled". However, GPO 1, 2 and 3 are linked to this OU.
Other GPO's, for example: GPO 4 and GPO 5 are applied, but not disabled and they are linked to the OU the same way. Is there a specific setting within the GPO that would disable it if it belongs to an OU that has "blocked inheritance enabled" even
though it has been linked? If so, where would this setting be located?
