Effects control micro adjustment on value with mouse

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any shortcut or any way to move values on effect controls but with more detail control, more like micro adjustment.
I'm trying to do Color grade in premiere CC, since speedgrade is too complicate workflow for the kind of huge project I'm working on.
I'm adding adjustment layers with RGB curves and 3wayCC but the adjustment on values are brutal, you move the mouse a bit and the value changes a lot is there any command shortcut with the mouse to have a better control on the values?

hope someday adobe creates dynamic link with speedgrade like with AE. that will make Creative cloud the most perfect software for postproduction

where you want to have detail control is exactly the values that you cant do micro adjustments.
like color wheels, and levels curves.
I found that some values that have the sliders (min Max) if you open the slider you can move the slider with more control pressing command.

Set default value with mouse click?

Hi guys,
I'm new enough to LabVIEW, and indeed this forum, so I hope you can help. I'm guessing it's a simple problem, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I've got a cRIO taking in 4 analog voltages. Each voltage is from a linear potentiometer which is measuring suspension displacment on a Formula Student race car.
I have a simple formula set up to convert input voltage to displacment. I've set up a table of inputs which allows me to set maximum, minimum,(from previous sensor calibration) and "stationary" value of each sensor.
The "stationary" value is what the sensor should be reading when the car is stopped. This is then used as a baseline for either positive or negative displacments.
My problem is that each time a different driver gets in the car, the susspension is adjusted, or fuel is added, the "stationary" value will be different. I then have to manually set the stationary value back to whatever the current value is when the car is stopped, press "make current value default", and save the VI before continuing.
What I would like, is a "calibrate" button which I can press that sets the "stationary" value to whatever the current input voltage is. This way, I wouldn't have to reset 4 values each time the car is modified.
If you have any ideas on how to do this, please let me know.
I'll attach my VI once I get back to the laptop where it is saved!

As you have discovered you cannot change the default values on a running VI.
The best way to do what you want is to use a configuration file. There is a set of VIs specifically designed for that purpose on the File I/O palette. When the user presses the "calibrate" button, the values are saved to the file. When the program starts it reads the file and sets the controls to the values in the file. You can even keep different sets for each driver, if the data is consistent enough.
Read the detailed help files for the configuration VIs and look at the examples. These will show you how to get started.

The numedit control displays the floating value with a comma instead of dot. For eg: 10,835 instead of 10.835. The regional settings of the computer are correct.

How to change the comma to dot?

Application is not working with mouse

Dear All,
We have a strange issue in the our application (Oracle form) in the one of our client machine.
Some times the forms are not able to work with the mouse but is able to work with the keyboard. After one or two machine restart its again working. When the issue occur we can able to work in other applications using mouse.
Our Applications server is in Other country and client are accessing from India.
This occurs for some user and not for all.
Application server Version 10.1.2.0.2.
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit
Java Plug-in version 1.6.0_31 .
Please any info will help us lot.

But since its occurring for some users (perticulary indian users) and some times. And also its occurring in production environment not in development environment.
Even the java control panel is not working with mouse.
For other country customers everything working fine.
So its difficult for me to apply the patch with these uncertainties.
Checking with fresh java installation and let you know the status.

User Control screwed up but unable to click on icons with Mouse on OSX 10.8

I dont know what has happened, but today user control with mouse and trackpad on my macbookpro is screwed up.
I rebooted twice, it made no difference.
The trackpad moves the cursor okay, but I cannot get tapping or clicking the trackpad have any effect.
With my mouse I can access menubars, but the left and right buttons are swapped round, or it might be that the right button is acting as both left and right button.
I then went to the System Preferences screen to try and fix the mouse preferences, but clicking on any icon with left or right button has no effect.
I then found no icons of that type seem to work, I thought Id try and just update OSX with any updates available hoping that would fix anything that has got corrupted. But although I can get to the Appstore Update screen and there are two updates available I cannot get the updates installed. Clicking with the left button does nothing, clicking with right button changes the colour of the button slightly so the bottom half is in gray but nothing else happens.
As there is no menu option to install the updates I thought I tried and install the updates using the keyboard but I cannot work out how to do this.
Does this sound like a hardware or software problem

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Control frames with mouse x coordinates

Hi,
I will try to rewrite an earlier question to be more precise:
I want to take a folder with 20 pictures, in some way convert them into a movie. And then apply so that I can navigate the frames one by one in the movieclip by moving the mouse right and left (move mouse left - navigate backwards frame by frame, move mouse right - navigate forward frame by frame).
Anyone knows a good tutorial for this? Or maybe some tips to get started? I'm pretty new to Flash CS3.

I don't know that there will be a good tutorial for this, if any, mainly because as described, it may not be a desirable means of controlling a movieclip's timeline. While the "in some way convert them into a movie" is your call, assuming that movie will occupy a timeline, the controlling of frames by moving the mouse may need a little more thought/criteria resolution.
If the desired control is to merely make it such that moving the mouse left or right changes it one frame for each movement, then you can use a variable that keeps track of the mouseX value (where the mouse was) and a MOUSE_MOVE listener to trigger a function that tests where it is. If the new mouseX value is greater than the stored value, the mouse moved right, so you advance one frame in the movie's timeline.
The thing with this approach is that you really want to wait for the mouse to stop moving before you process a command to move, or somehow otherwise build in some stalling, otherwise one movement could end up moving several frames of the movie. Also, one movement could limit how much space you have left to continue moving--running out of room to move.... You would need to sneak around to the opposite end of the stage at some point in order to keep moving in one direction.
It may be better to create another area/movieclip that you use as a stepper control... if you pass the cursor over it from left to right, it advances the movie one frame and vice versa. You use rollover and rollout detection to capture the position of the mouse for each event and that can tell you which way the mouse was moving.

Good post, and glad to hear you had a solid transition. Mine went well too, though I think I beat the rush.
It's worth noting that the vast and overwhelming majority of headaches people were experiencing were related to download and activation servers (as well as credit check servers for some mobile carriers) being crushed and overwhelmed.
To give you an idea of just how crushed, here are some numbers. In the last year, something in the neighborhood of 8 million iPhones have been sold. That's just shy of 22,000 per day. So the typical traffic is around 22,000 times a day, someone is hitting the server for update/activation.
This weekend, Apple sold 1 million iPhones. In other words, 333,333 phones per day. Holy crap!
As if that wasn't enough, there are 8 million of us out there with the first generation iPhone. Not only do we need to download the new firmware, but we have to install it. The installation process requires hitting the activation server again, to validate the phone. Mind you, not everybody upgraded this weekend, but a few million did. For the sake of argument, we'll assume that's 1 million a day. So, instead of the normall traffic of 22K phones a day, those activation servers got SLAMMED with 1.33 million activations per day.
It ***** that some people had delays and hiccups and a hard time and everything, but completely understandable. With luck things will run more smoothly from here on out.

Problem with premiere pro effects controls

Hi, Merry Christmas;
I have a problem using keys with the opacity effect in the effects control panel; the following pictures should I think make my problem clearer to understand:
The image above shows that the opacity control of the correction gopro clip is at 100% which unless I've drunk too much champagne, is in full view on the screen!
I want to make a transition effect showing the raft appearing in the window of the following picture which is an Indian Granary above the Colorado river.
On my clip of the Granary I zoomed up to the window as to give the impression I get into the granary itself; When I arrive at this moment I begin, with key frames to have
the granary interior pass from 100% opacity to 0% at the end of the granary clip. Unless again champagne is very bad for my health and vision, I should see then the river
and the raft! Well I don't and that gives me nightmares! What is wrong? I add that to have a smooth and regular zoom I have used time remapping on the granary clip.
The granary clip is the one just above the correction gopro clip and overlapping it by the duration of the dissolve shown selected in the picture below(I could of course use a dissolve here, but I want to economize on a supplementary effect)
below is the view with the screen and the opacity of the granary clip at 25%. Normally the clip of the raft should be quite visible then! the red-orange on the right of the screen is the interior wall of the granary!

Stacking in Adobe products is prototypically the top being the final thing you "see". If you have two clips, one atop the other, you will normally see the top clip & nothing from the bottom clip ... unless the top-most clip is given some transparency by say bringing its opacity setting down.
Think of it as the bottom layer "feeds" up to the next higher layer and so on. What comes out at the top is what you will see as the final product.
Much of my work has been short interviews cut with b-roll & stills. The basic interview sits on V1, and I use V2 and only occasionally V3 for the b-roll & stills that I'll cut to for variety, information, or simply interest retention during the running of essentially the audio from V1. This works nice, as I can expand or trim the b-stuff as it seems right while playing back. Then if I want to put in a transition, as part of polishing, I can either trim out the V1 section and move the V2 clip "down" before adding transitions or do a razor on V1 on both ends and add it to the end of the clips. Typically I cut out the section.
The lesson is ... putting anything on a higher track replaces the viewable video of anything under it. Unless you reduce the upper tracks opacity.

The first two problems (box cycling from element to element on page, scroll bar returning to top) can be caused by a stuck (or defective) Tab key on the keyboard. Such damage can be caused by a liquid spill; just one tiny droplet is enough to short a wafer switch under one key.
The last issue (black box, white text - sounds sorta like a debugger window) I haven't seen, but could be caused by something similar.
To check for that, try using a different keyboard. If you're using a wireless keyboard, turn it off and see if the oddities stop.

Have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line

Hello,
Is there any way I can have the time line in my effects control window coincide with my main time line ?
Example, I add keyframes along my main time line, but any time I wish to edit them, I need to scrub my effect controls window timeline to get to that
spot that coincides on the main time line. I'm just wondering how I can have both time lines show the same area at the same time.
So if I'm at the end of my time line, and add a keyframe, and then wish to just scrub or move my cursor to the beginning of my main time line, the
time line in the upper window ( effects control window ) does not reflect the area of the main time line I am currently at, I need to actually click the time time
line ( main time line ) in order to "refresh" the upper effect control window time line.

After Effects control surface?

does anyone know of a control surface or customized mouse that would allow for the adjustment of parameters within After Effects.. I.e.: Position, Rotation, etc as a replacement form typing in numeric values or grabbing and sliding values with a mouse cursor?

I used to use a Logitech mouse with 8 buttons. I had them each programmed to bring up a certain feature so I didn't have to use the keyboard. It worked just fine but you still had to click and drag.
There are a bunch of programmable buttons on a Wacom tablet, but it's still click and drag. To tell you the truth I've taken to just grabbing layers in the comp window for most positioning and rotating tasks. I just do it by eye. I got away from the multi button mouse because it was killing my hand. Now it's mostly a touch pad or an Apple magic mouse for me. I use a tablet occasionally in AE and a lot in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Effect Controls - sluggish

(Newbie). I was just starting to get to know CS4 when I bought CS5, but I notice with my CS5 that adjusting things in Effect Controls is very sluggish. If I click on the "100" of brightness (say) and drag left or right, I have to move the mouse about 6" before anything happens. There seems to be some sort of backlash or hysteresis there which wasn't there with my CS4.
My system is: PC, i7, 12Gb, 2 Tb Raid0, 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Could it be that my graphics card is only a GTS250 (1Gb) and I need to invest in a GTX285, or have I got some setting wrong?

No, you won't see it in an FAQ, at least not an official one. I noticed this a few weeks back, and Harm revealed all.
The 5.0.1 update is a single-issue update, and doesn't fix this particular problem. I would guess it'll be in 5.0.2 or 5.1.0, depending on how many other changes come along. Whichever it is, I don't think it'll be too long to wait, but I have no real idea. Just gotta wait it out...

Generate text from the effect controls

Is it possible to generate text from a textfield (or something similar) from the effect controls?
I have an Adjustment Layer with a custom effect on it with a Slider, two Color pickers and four Checkboxes.
Can I somehow add a textfield that the user can input text in, and then link this to a text layer in the composition?
The reason I want this, is because the user can add all the information in one effect, instead of having multiple text layers to edit.
I don't think there is a textbox for this, but is there anpther way? Let's say I add an effect that has a dynamic name, that I can link up to the source text of my textlayers in the composition.
Any help would be much appreciated

Ok, then I guess it can't be done, not the way I hoped anyway.
This is the effect I have made. I have linked the properties to other layers.
What I wanted was an input field where the user inputs for example "My Title". The source text of my text field in the composition would then update to "My Title".
I know I could probably do this by code, but then the original point kinda disappears. It should be easy for the user to adjust the settings under one effect, instead of having to adjust it multiple places.
I guess the user have to edit the textfield in the comp by actually going into the layer (doubleclick it/highlight it with the text tool etc.) unless you have a genius workaround? (Please say you do:P)
