Effects of deleting a Mailbox on other Mailboxes

I am getting my Mac mail in the original mailbox.  Due to incredible amounts of spam esp on iphone (which apparently has no filter and cannot be "trained") I set up a Google Mailbox, had it pull my Mac mail and forward it to a Gmail account in Mac Mail.  The article I read that enabled me to do this suggests deleting the original Mac Mail account now, but I believe doing so may result in deletion of the messages contained there from ALL mailboxes they reside in (I actually believe this happened to me in the past-just can't remember).  Does anyone know for sure?  I have some recent messages that I would not wish to lose.

I did it and it worked.  By the time I got around to doing this I had upgraded to Lion and the Library was nowhere to be found.  Some inquiring lead to the discovery that Library is hidden in Lion.  I was able to find an article showing how to reveal it and did so.  Best of all I did NOT lose the messages in my new account even though were also contained in the deleted mailbox.  Nonetheless I think in the future I would still be more comfortable backing up the Library prior to deleting any mailbox that contained anything worth keeping.  Thanks.

  • In some mailboxes, very slow opening/deleting emails. In other mailboxes it works just fine

In my inbox, very slow opening some (not all) emails. To delete the problem emails takes 40-50 seconds. Also, I keep marking many emails as "junk" and yet I keep getting maile from those spam senders. Also, these problems happen in some of my local folders, but not in all of them?? Had no problem with prior version

Are you using McAfee anti virus by any chance?

  • Can't "See" or delete messages in the Sent Mailbox in Safari Mail

This message for a handicapped friend of mine.
Can't see any messages and so can't delete any in the Sent mailbox. All other mailboxes have messages you can see. Suspect that mailbox is overloaded with Sent pictures. Message above the viewer window (in small font) reads 3323 messages updating color for message 3323 of 3323. Running system 10.2.8 on an iMac (pwr PC G4). There is plenty of hard drive space but only 256 MB of memory. Is there anyway to force the mailbox to empty or is there a file in the library somewhere that I can delete to cause it to happen?
    Thanks

It's McAfee. A little while ago I noticed all the issues with McAfee involvement so I just made the recommended changes - after a few minutes of testing, that may have been the cause - will continue to check it out.
    Thanks

  • How do I get incoming mail in one of my mailboxes unstuck.  It will not download any mail in one box but the other mailbox works fine

How do I get incoming mail in one of my mailboxes unstuck??  It is trying to download it but seems jammed.  The other mailbox is working fine.  I know there is mail there because it is coming into my bb.  This just started this morning.  I took someone's suggestion and duplicated my mail from the library and I then put com.apple.mail.plist on my desktop.  I was unable to delete the incoming mail from the mailbox however so don't know what to do.
    Help?

Try this: If this is Apple Mail, select the Mailbox, then from the Mail Menu>Mailbox>Rebuild.

  • Cannot export one room mailbox but others yes.

Gonna try to be more specific here...
I deleted a user (meetingroom) with an associated mailbox and then restored the user through ADRestore, reconnected the Mailbox but the calendar settings (among other settings) in ECM 2010 give me an error:
"Mailbox /o=Domain/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=<server>/cn=Microsoft System Attendant cannot be opened. It was running the command 'Get-CalendarProcessing -Identity 'domain.local/ou/meetingroom'
    -ReadFromDomainController"
I've tried to export the mailbox to a pst but that fails too. Both the properties and export-cmdlet work fine on other mailboxes...
I tried disconnecting then connecting the mailbox to a user-type and logon with that user to see if that unlocked it somehow but no luck there either. Is there any hope to restore this room mailbox with its containing calendar, appointments and so on?
    I thank you in advance

    Hi,
Please run the following command to check whether this room mailbox is still disconnected:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | where {$_.disconnectdate –ne $null} | FL displayname,MailboxGUID,DisconnectReason,DisconnectDate
Please disable the mailbox and reconnect the mailbox by using the following command, for example:
Connect-Mailbox -Identity "ConfRm212" -Database "MBXResourceDB" -Room -User "Conference Room 212"
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Can't open email in Inbox only, can read all other mailboxes?

I am new to Mac products and may have deleted something I wasn't supposed to.  My inbox indicates that I have 6 messages but I can't see them to open them.  All other mailboxes are fine.

Sorry...false alarm!  I don't know what I did but I'm now able to open my email.

  • Outlook 2010 / SBS2011 Exchange Emails being deleted when moved to another mailbox

    Hi All,
I have an SBS2011 std, using exchange 2010
User A has full access permission to mailboxes B and C
In Outlook 2010 they have the additional mailboxes visible automatically (ie. not via the "more settings" tab in outlook set up)
Recently when user moves a message from their inbox A, into a folder of the other mailbox B or C, or the inbox of that user, the message is very quickly deleted, and ends up having to be recovered from the "recover deleted items" section of the
    users Deleted Folder.
    (Hope that makes sense)
Previously I understand they were able to move emails in this way, between mailboxes.
Can anyone confirm if this should a) be possible and b) what might have changed or be going wrong?
The server was patched and rebooted last night to try and fix the issue but it is still continuing.
    Thanks,
    JJ

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to a certain user or all users in the environment?
What if we just move emails within the same mailbox, will this issue continues?
How did the user move the emails? If they moved by dragging/dropping, please try right clicking the email and select Move > Other Folder...
If this issue only happen to certain user, I'd recommend you
create a new mail profile for that use and then test again.
In addition, do you have any antivirus software installed? If so, please disable the antivirus integration with Outlook to check the result. See:

  • I cannot delete the messages from my mailbox

I cannot delete any messages from my mailboxes. Please help

If you are using the native Apple email app you should be able to swipe to the left and delete. If you can't then remove and reinstall the email account. If that does work
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

  • Deleting the old Exchange 2007 mailbox entry safely from ADSI Edit ?

    Hi,
I'm having problem with the old Exchange maiilbox 2007 CCR cluster name still showing whenever I use the Powershell script:
Get-MailboxServer | Select Name, AdminDisplayVersion, ServerRole, ExchangeVersion, IsValid, ExchangeLegacyServerRole, DistinguishedName
Can anyone please assist me what to backup first before so that I can safely remove / delete the following highlighted entry from my domain controller:
Is that the correct location where I can safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry ? All of our Exchange Servers are 2010 SP2.
There is also the computer object named MAILBOX when I do the search in
Active Directory Users & Computers console.
So can anyone please clarify if this is the best and safest way to do without causing any email downtime ?
    /* Server Support Specialist */

    Hey there,
You need to ensure that you have the following backups in order to proceed with the decommissioning process:
    1. System State Backup of your Active directory
    2. Exchange Database Flat file Backup
    3. Run ExBPA Report and Export the Report for future reference.
    4. Go to Registry Editor and Export “My Computer” as Registry backup.
Yes you are at the right location to safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry .
The best & cleanest way is to delete the whole server object. This wouldn't break your Exchange 2010 configuration. But make sure you don't delete the “Servers” folder itself.
Feel free to revert back for further queries
    Thanks
    ~Phil

  • Can anybody tell me how to create other mailboxes besides inbox, sent and trash on my iPhone4?

can anybody tell me how to create other mailboxes besides inbox, sent and trash on my iPhone4?

You can't create any mailboxes directly on your phone. Mailboxes/Folders have to be created on the mail server, then synced to your phone. This requires an IMAP account, as such is not possible with a POP account. Sounds like you have a POP account, if so you cannot create any mailboxes/folders.

  • Mail Not Displaying Other Mailboxes

The Mail application is not displaying my other mailboxes (i.e. Gmail, Verizon, and Yahoo), but I can see all of my Mac or iCloud mail.  I am getting the Mail new notifications, but nothing is being updated and/or displayed in those other mailboxes.  What's going on?

    Try rebuilding Mailboxes.
    Launch Mail.
Click "Mailboxes in the menu bar and select "Rebuild" from the dropdown.
    Best.

  • Is there a way to set an email mailbox so that mail from many months are stored, but the general default for the other mailboxes is a few days?

The only thing I can think of is to set the number of days to sync messages, shown below. But I'm not sure if this is what you're after. If it is go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars select the email account you wish to change.
This will then only sync emails from the last week for example. In the screenshot all email messages would be synced to the iPhone.

Lion is a bit of a memory hog - kernel_task will use quite a bit and Safari is known to use more; you can't do anything about the system, but changing to Firefox may help a little. The best way to deal with it is to increase your RAM; the required minimum is just that: the minimum. My Macbook would keep crashing and beachballing until I upped the RAM to 4 GB. RAM is inexpensive right now - check out OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial.com; both reputable RAM vendors with lifetime warranties. You won't regret it.
As for iDVD - I purchased the retail iLife 11 disk because of iDVD (because I use that a lot) - it's available at online resellers, the Apple Store, and ebay.
