Effects on fonts

Hi, I am using an outline font, I used wow chrome and wow neon on it a,d then filled it with another color. I want to overlap the letters but when I do they fade and almost turn white where they are overlapping. What can I do to eliminate this problem?

One way is to put your text on separate layers and then apply the same
layer style to each letter and then overlap the letters.
If you don't want the outlines where the letters overlap, copy and simplify
those layers and use the eraser tool to remove the outlines where the text
overlaps.

Text on multiple copied layers with outlines erased where the letters overlap.
If this not what you mean, perhaps a screenshot would help.

I have tried restarting, uninstalling doing what it says on above and deleteing the adobefnt files and still can't get it to work
If anyone knows any fix to this it would be great.

As Todd said, 99% odf the time such errors are casued by "bad" fonts (freeware fonts, legacy fonts). Remove them and see if it makes a difference.

After effect changes font on my computer

Hi,
I'm fairly new to after effects, I work with a team with different computers. We're making a kinetic typography but somehow on my computer the font completly changes. They change positions but the coords are still the same, all the letters are suppose to be capitalized but they aren't in my after effects. The file is exactly the same. On every other computers it works except mine.
I'm using the new macbook pro retina 15" with mountain lion and have creative cloud with AE CS6

I've been in contact with adobe help for 3 hours but they couldn't help me any further, and I'm at an loss. Anybody any ideas?

I figured it out, the font i downloaded from dafont was a different one from the ones my team used. Same name so no error. I got the ttf file from the computer of which did render it properly, and now it does work properly. Font size, scale, position, spacing everything was the exactly the same.

Effects affecting font clarity

When I use a effect for any object on a page [shadow ect.] all text on that page lose some of their clarity. This problem remains with the document even after exporting to PDF. Any suggestions?

Put a background color on your div and or set the font styles
to the bold text.

I have found a workaround, the problem may be in the freetype version, I have downloaded freetype2 from a 0.7 archlinux repo:

Instead of installing, you can uncompress the package an copy the file libfreetype.so.6.3.6 to /opt/openoffice/program/libfreetype.so.6
This will make oo use that library instead of the systems one

Adobe After Effects CC Font dictionary error then crashes.. HELP

I have recently installed adobe after effects CC and I cannot use it.
I have a windows 7 pro 64 bit system.
I get the following errors and have tried un- installing re-installing and deleting adobefnt files
nothing seems to work at this stage. Anyone know how to fix this problem for good?

How can I effectively enlarge font size in Firefox?

My laptop resolution is 1900x1200 so the default font size is very small.
I tried to increase the font size through Preferences>Content>Default font BUT it doesn't work well with a lot of sites.
It corrupts the layouts so I had to change it back to default.
Then, I used Ctrl+- for zoom feature but that ruins the quality of images in website, and once you restart the zoom is gone.
So, is there anyway around this?

You can increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.
In Firefox 3.6 and later this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements more precisely.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

How Can I import Fonts and Effects?

Hi. My partner and I both have Macs and both have FCP. I have FCP 6 while my partner has FCP5. However she appears to have more fonts and effects than I do. This means that when she does an edit that I then open in 6 I can't 'read' her effects or fonts. Is there a way to copy her fonts and effects onto my FCP6? Thanks. Ric

Fonts...yes. Have her look in her FONTS FOLDER and give you what you don't have.
EFFECTS? Well, she can tell you what she has, and if they are free, you can get them for free (Too Much Too Soon, Eureka, a few Sheffield Softworks, CGM...). If they are ones that cost money, then you either need to buy them, or she needs to stop using them if you are going to continue to collaborate.

How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the '''Bookmarks''' Library?
Since the upgrade to version 9.0.1 of Firefox, the Bookmarks feature changes are confusing me. They seem to be confusing themselves as well. The list of bookmarks has changed. The font size is so small that my aging eyes cannot read it without fogging the screen with my breath. Some folders are out of alphabetical order (where I know they were previously good), and some are missing altogether (folders to which I frequently add references).
As for missing or deranged files or folders, was there something that I should have done or now need to do to recover those after the upgrade (or before)?
With regard to font size,
1. there is no “Edit Bookmarks” or like option to edit the list in this version
2. the “zoom” option in the “view” list of functions is greyed out when in “Show All Bookmarks” window
3. expanding the browser window has no effect on font size
4. “Preferences” settings for font size has no effect in that window either, including advanced settings
5. “Help” offers none that I can find.
Can any of you Help?!?

HP Color Laserjet CP2025 printing with a 'shadow' effect

Hi All
My printer is printing some documents with a pink 'shadow' type effect on font (various different ones) and even an image I have inserted.
If I print a test page I don't get this, yet documents I have saved as a template and have been using since I got the printer have always been ok up until today.
My printer is only approx 4mths old. Toner levels are ok (half or over). I have turned off, re-calibrated, & also re-calibrated the colours but still a problem.
Any ideas?
I should add if I send the document/s to a different printer (an Officejet) I don't get this problem, but I prefer to print these on the Laserjet due to quality

I've had a look at the Manual and it refers me to using the HP ToolboxFX - this I don't have on my computer.
I am running WIndows 7 and the cd that came with the printer wouldn't install.
I am trying to find this HP ToolboxFX on HP's ite but no luck and as for trying to contact them, I have to jump so many hoops only to find they don't have my model on their list before you can send them an email grrrr
Anybody able to send me a link for this HPToolboxFX? I presume it should be available??

Script for collecting Asian fonts

Was having issues with Asian fonts last week and asked a question on the InDesign side of the fence, and scripting came up, which brought me over here to ask if such a script existed for collecting Asian fonts.

Hi Peter-Thanks for your response. A big "duh" on me re: the checkbox option that exempts the CJK fonts. Thing is, this is my first foray into using asian fonts after 30 odd years in this business. I am aware of where they appear in the font list so I am sure that they werent loading.
I do believe in having the most organized and pristine font possible. I've tried hard w/getting the ones Im working with into what I consider good shape, but who knows. I have also read no these forums to dispose of the .lst files. I havent done that in ages-I didnt realize that that still had an effect on fonts so I guess I'll give that a try next. In the past, Ive had great succcess cleaning up fonts and working w/Suitcase and even Font Explorer. This Font Agent Pro seems flakey to me. It has real problems with opening fonts dynamically. I have had to restart the computer several times in order for them to be recognized. But, sometimes not even that helps. Yesterday, I resorted to putting the fonts I needed in the User/Lib/Fonts Folder.
I cant really say that it's one or just a few certain fonts that I notice being problematic-it varies from doc to doc. Thank you for your input. Much obliged.

Suitcase Fusion trial? CS4- lost 1/2 of my fonts via ....HELP

If ANYONE can please help me ... today I downloaded a trial version of Suitcase Fusion 3 to see what is was like. I also uninstalled it today.
NOW, all of my Adobe programs are missing (not pulling up) my enitre fonts list ie: basics like Myriad Pro are missing from the drop down menu among many others, and previous design documents are opening with errors saying:
"fonts or characters are not available or in a different format than originally specicifed". Then, when I DO open that document, I cannot even correctly place the original fonts—they are not available.
My Fonts do show in my Library (iMac OSX 10.5)
Is there any way to restore my fonts? It seems like they are not "talking" to my software programs (all of my software ...including Microsoft word /excel etc)

Hi Chemol,
Sorry to hear that you're having issues. Good news is that it's very unlikely that your font files have been affected by Suitcase Fusion.
As pointed out by other posters, it's possible that you have some corrupt font cache files on your system. Suitcase Fusion 3 has the ability to clean out these files, but if you don't want to reinstall it, you can try out Font Nuke to clear the same files.

Setting documnet font size

Can one set up a default font size using CSS? Using the body
tag I can control the font face but not the size. This is my body
style:

The default fonts appear in Verdana but not 11 pixels. Though
the font size appears in the generic font tag, I repeated the
font-size to make sure that wouldn't help but it doesn't make any
difference. Any ideas?

You are creating pages that do not have a doctype. This will
cause them to
render in quirks mode. In quirks mode, styles applied to
<body> do NOT
inherit into table cells. Thus, you would have to add to your
rule to
include a td in the selector. HOWEVER, you will find it's
much more
reliable (not to mention safer) to begin including valid and
complete
doctypes on your pages so that your pages will render in
standards mode.

Phtoshop CC 2014 / Incease font size of GUI?

Hi!
It looks like, that the font size is smaller in Photoshop CC 2014 than it was in Photoshop CC.
I've a DELL U2713H with 2560x1400 pixel.
But even if I wear my glassed (that was not required by using the previous Photoshop version) the font size is a little bit to small and not easy to read.
I tried the experimenter feature to increase ALL GUI elements by 200%, but the outcome is funny but not useful ;-) in my case
So I wonder, if there is any chance to increase the font size of the GUI so it's readable again.

There are two separate font sizes:
1. The menus
2. Pretty much everything else
The menu font size is now the same as what you'd have seen with Windows set to 100% desktop scaling before. The only setting that effects the font size now is the one in the Preferences - Experimental Features panel (as you've seen), and it can only be 100% or 200%.
The rest of the fonts in Photoshop can be affected by the Preferences - Interface panel, UI Font Size setting. The range isn't very big, and you have to close and restart Photoshop to see the change.
