Effects search box must be dealt carefully - if the mouse moves slightly then fcpx behaves as shortcuts

Hi..
when we search for some effect using the search box, under the effects window, or may be title or any other window... we must be very careful that the mouse never moves after clicking (for the cursor) in the effects search box (at the bottom right)...
if the mouse moves slightly away from the search box then when we type, fcpx behaves as shortcuts and does not type inside the box... which is very frustrating...it changes so many things according to the shortcuts instead of the text inside the search option...
Hope all this is corrected in updates. It would be great if someone can pass this msg to apple development team. Thank you !!

My skimmer is enabled. When I click in the box, it is ringed in blue.
I can move the pointer anywhere in the screen and type in the box that remains active.

I don't know how much more I can add...However, when I type in the Norton Safe Search box up to the search button in Norton Safe Search I can continue to type but I can't see what is being typed because it doesn't allow me to see the trailing end of what I'm typing. This along with the fact that the letters and words don't always automatically advance a space, they group together as I'm typing and I have to stop, provide a space and continue once again. This only happens in Mozilla Firefox, I'm using Firefox 3.6.19. This doesn't happen in the Norton Safe Search Box in Internet Explorer

Maybe another extension that you have installed is causing that problem with that Norton Safe Search add-on.

Disable all other extensions and see if Norton works correctly. 
I so, start enabling extensions one at a time until you find the culprit.
If not, create a new Profile and verify that Norton is the only extension that appears in the new Profile and see if it works correctly.

You can create style rules for toolbars that alter their appearance. Two common ways to do it are (1) editing an obscure file named userChrome.css and (2) creating a userstyle in the Stylish extension. That said, I haven't heard of any specific style rules to move the search box to a second line. Some advanced hacking might be involved.

Premier After Effects... How does one places the whole movie clip into AF?

After years of using Premiere, I’m looking at using After Effects. Premiere does most of what I need (I don’t need moving graphics and titles) but the masking and rotoscoping seems to be better in After Effects. I’ve started a great video by Tom Green at school. This is probably silly question- I don’t understand is how does one places the whole movie clip into AF? I only see 30 seconds or so of the 5 minute clip on the timeline in AF.

A new problem: When I try a dynamic link with premiere AE says “Failed to connect to adobe Premiere Pro Dynamic Link”, but PP will link with AE. I just installed AF last week. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall them (along with the rest of the Creative Suite)?

HT4796 I can't see where are the folders that I had in my old PC on my new Mac after the migration. Even when I see it on my Mac using the search box, it doesn't appear with the right order of my old PC. I need some help, please.

I used the Migration utilitie from Lion and eventhough I know the folders are there (with a quick search I find images etc) the proper order is not displayed.

The "text in a yellow box" that appears when I hover the mouse over a selection or help tag.

The "help tag" (Or in most cases the unwanted tag) often is in the way of what I want to look at.
This is especially true when you are looking at an item that has it's own pop up giving you a description or information.
When you hold the mouse over say.... a movie icon in XFinity, the icon of the movie expands and gives a brief synopsis, date and actors of said movie.
Unfortunately, I cannot read the synopsis for the "Help Tag" blocks all the content forcing you to try different ways of pointing to the movie icon so you can read parts of the discretion from every angle of approach then piece it altogether in your mind.
I DO NOT want "help tag". It is extremely annoying and time consuming ergo it des not "help" it hinders.
Can it not be disabled (Like balloon help in OS 9) so you do not have to feel anger and frustration every time you see that yellow tag?

Ooo, I did not notice the article was from 2007. Thansk for pointing that out. I don't think I am going to try it. It seems that with all the "little" apps the seem to keep growing in numbers, someone will come up with a solid program that would wok through system prefs. I would pay the normal $20.00 for an app like that.

Search Box Error: LockFailedException Illegal hex characters

When I enter any data into the JDeveloper Search Box (top right hand side of the IDE) the IDE throws up an error and wants to exit telling me that the system is unstable.
This is a new install of Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 1 11.1.1.2.0, everything worked fine in the previous version of JDeveloper I was using.
I've tried restarting JDev and rebooting my PC, but the problem persists. It seems to be a problem with projects converted from the previous JDev version as well as for new projects.

:) yeah it's a super useful search box especially with projects with lots of files nested down in some deep packages ;p
The interesting thing is I'm not searching for .j.
The same error message comes up regardless of what I search for.
For example:
MyFile.txt
or
FuBar
both return the same error and both report errors list .j and Illegal hex characters.... it must be some weird config thing under the hood that got munted during the install.

FF5 does not seem to supports opening a new tab from my search box. Why? this is an important feature for browsing.

When I was running FF3.X, I used the Google search bar to replace the standard FF search box. In that, I enabled the "open searches in new Tab" feature. This is highly efficient for browsing, as it doesn't leave the current pages I'm on. Frequently I will be running multiple tabs, and it's annoying to have to open once I've selected a new tab. Is there a compatible add-on to help me with this?

Yes it was an add on called net assistant by freeze.com and I have found that, disabled it and intend to uninstall it, it must of come in with something else, I did not down load it specifically. Thanks

Logical AND not working in the forum search box

Logical AND of search terms does not seem to be working in the MSDN forum search box. Example: I go to the Project Customization and Program forum and type the word
subproject
in the search box. I get a lot of hits. So now I try to reduce the number of hits by typing
subproject AND read
Surprisingly, I now get MORE hits than before. The same thing happens if I enter
subproject & read
Do the MSDN forums not support the standard logical AND combinations of search terms? If they do support these combinations, what is the syntax?

How to make a report based on a search box containg IDs for multiple rows

Hello everyone,
I'm using APEX to build a database application. My users want to search a table by submitting multiple IDs in a search box. They want to list the row IDs for all the rows they want to search in one input box, and after clicking the Submit botton, all the rows should be displyed. Any idea to make it with APEX. I appreciate all your help.

Unless your search is all numbers, each one will have to be separated by a '. That's probably why the multiple select isn't working. Try and add that around your SQL query, but I think you'll have to escape it for it to work.
And about the error-checking, you can create a short PL/SQL snippet to check/format the string in :PXX_SEARCH. You could start with something as simple as having it attach the ' you''ll need.

With firefox 4, google toobar seach box suggestions no longer appear in the search box itself

After installing Firefox 4:
When I start typing in the Google toolbar search box an item, like NYT and the search suggestions appear -- like NY Times -- I used to be able to click on "NY Times" and this would appear filled out in the Google search box. This no longer happens. Instead, what I have typed in is the only thing showing: NYT.

I think this may not be a browser problem but rather a Google problem.
I am getting the same problem with the Google Chrome browser.

If you key into the location bar ''about:home'' that will open the homepage with the google search bar in the Center of it.

Search Box css problem in Ensemble2 with Win Xp

Hi guys,
I've notice a problem in style of search box in ensemble example. When the search box get the focus, the blue selection has not round corner as you can see here:

Have some performance issues on Windows XP, too.
I am using d3d prism settings to render on Windows 7 and XP. On Windows 7 everything working fine.
On Windows XP it is slow and sometimes flickering.
I didn't find a solution.
1) Tried to start the application with other prism settings like -Dprism.order=d2d and OpenGL.
2) I changed the 3d graphic settings that made it better, but didn't solve the issue.
Someone knows the difference of rendering the javafx application in Windows 7 and XP (DirectX 11, DirectX9.0c)?

Category search box?

I'm trying to create a category search similar to NetBeans 6.5 or Safari (Mac OS X) search box, which displays an arrow and magnifying glass on the left for selection of a category (or a field in a table to search on). How is this best done?

OK I found it (you're lucky I have NetBeans available right away!).
As far as the logic of the component goes, you can put two widgets nested in a JPanel, BorderLayout: one JComboBox WEST, and one JTextField, CENTER. I leave you search about the auto-completion (or auto-search) on the JTextField, widely discussed on Java forums.
But I guess I see what appeals you in the, e.g. NetBeans search box rendering, is that it gives the appearance that the drop-down box is actually part of the text field, as there is nor border between the text field and the drop-down box (except a small vertical separator that foes not span the whole height).
It may not be easy to render that, one simple hack could be to override the JTextField.paint() method and clip the Graphics object to a smaller rectangle (that doesn't include the left-hand border of the textfield), then call super.paint() with the clipped Graphics. Same thing goes for the right-hand side of the JComboBox. Easier still, clip both Graphics so that no border appears, and let the containing JPanel have a LineBorder (but it might not look exactly like a JTextFiled border).
Of course you have to set the same background color to the JTF and JCBox, if it's not the case out of the box.
