Efficiency while book editing

Forgive me if I'm mentioning things already mentioned, but I just spent several heavy days in designing books, and altering templates. Here were the primary things I noticed about editing books that were barriers to my productivity:
1) Performance is sluggish in book editing. I noticed a general slowdown in editing, primarily in editing pages.
2) There is no way to organize photos or keep them organized in the pane below the book, or in the left hand navigator pane while editing the book. This made it a real pain to work with a large number of images while editing the book. The book was organized, but the images below in the browse image pane were strewn everywhere. It would be great to see images below reorganized by page as you add them to the book, or to be able to have folders within the book.
3) There was no way to edit an image while in book mode. Major pain. This required switching out of book mode and locating the photo elsewhere in the project, editing it there, then switching back to book mode. I'd like to edit the photo right there in book mode. This was a major issue with cropping.
4) Rather than requiring that images be cropped per se, it would be really awesome if you could just drag the image within its image box to expose the portion of the photo you wish. Unless I totally missed this capability, it appears that to get a photo larger than the image box to properly render if the dimensions were different, you had to crop, or else Aperture would impose a crop of its own that you couldn't alter. This is a major time-waster right now. I had photos where something was pushed just barely too high up or to the left, and rather than being able to just nudge the photo down or to the right, I had to leave book mode and go edit the photo, applying a crop instead.
Anyway, the book tool in general is just awesome. With some improvements, and better output options, it really would be unbelievable.

Not sure if you mean sizing, moving the image, or changing the dimensions of the crop, but you can actually do all 3 right in Aperture!
To size or move the image within the existing crop, just double click the image. You can then use the Image Scale HUD to resize the image, and the pointer turns into a hand while over the image, so you can move/place the image how you like.
If you want to change the dimensions/proportions of the crop itself, click the Edit Layout button at the top of the book editing pane, then click on the image; you can then use the handles to change the crop (sides or corners).

It's explained on the DVD that accompanies Aperture. We're all so excited to use Aperture that we watched the DVD briefly when we first got it and said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know all that..." and then forgot half the tips in it.
I watched it again over the past few days and picked up a number of tips.

VS 2013 error: "Attempted TextBuffer edit operation while another edit is in progress"

I´m using Visual Studio 2013 Version 12.0.21005.1 with VB.NET on Framework 4.5.50938, OS is Windows 7 SP1 32 Bit.
I´m randomly getting the error message
"Attempted TextBuffer edit operation while another edit is in progress"
when trying to edit a source file. The file then remains inaccessible until I restart Visual Studio.
This message seems to appear at random and out of nowhere, sometimes after running or debugging the program, sometimes in the middle of editing. I can edit one file, switch to another one and receive this error.
Sometimes I can work half an hour before this message appears, sometimes only a couple of minutes. I´ve been looking all over the web for solutions but can´t find anything.
This error is beginning to severely disturb my work, so any ideas would be highly appreciated.

Sorry for that we couldn’t repro this issue.
Please check whether you install any add-ins or extension tools in your VS, please disable/remove them, and check it again. I doubt that it would be related to them.
Please also run your VS in safe mode.

While in Edit Mode in Moodle - page content does not render at all, but I am able to display the underlying HTML code. Happens only after upgrade to Firefox 11.0.

While in edit mode in the Moodle course management system, the Page Content window should display the page as it will appear to the user. If you click on the "Edit" button, you are able to view the HTML code for the page. However, when you return to the normal display mode, the page is blank. This has occurred after the upgrade to Firefox 11.0. Page is normally rendered in Internet Explorer.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I can't see video on my monitor while I edit

Hello folks,
The other day, I was trying to add some
motion effects using Motion with transfered
clip from Final Cut Pro but all of sudden
video play on my monitor won't show anything
and even after I went back to final cut pro,
it won't show anything while I edited.
I thought it was just that particular clips or project
but it affects the whole FCP program and I can't see
anything both on the monitor nor canvas!
I now stopped working on my project because of it.
Does anyone know why this is happening and
please provide me some answers to solve this problem!

Another issue might be that you have two or more output devices, like a blackmagic card for example make sure under view... (sorry I don't have FCP here, I don't remember the name of the submenu but I think it's 2 subs under external...) that you have the right device selected.

Excise duty don't want calculate on Freight Charge while booking of Miro

Dear Expert.
While booking of Manufacturing Invoice in MIRO , Excise duty Tax will calculate on freight. The only VAT will calculate on unplanned delivery cost.
Even I maintain Tax rate in FV11 T-Code with Key combination Plant/Vendor/Material.

Stuttering while I edit/view

I notice sometimes but kinda often that while I editing a video and want to watch what Ive done, the video sometimes stutter.
Frame freezes and then just jump forward a bit.
I just wonder if it's because of my computer isnt up to par when it comes to video editing.
If it mattes the video Im editing is 1920x1080 with audio in them.
And the video is on a regular HDD not and SSD, does that matter much?
It doesn't help to render the timeline either.
Any suggestions?
Is it mainly CPU and RAM speed that have most effect in speed you can render a video?

OK, one more question - which version of PrE are you using, and is it the 64-bit version?
If the Project setting does match your media files (no colored line), you are using the 64-bit version of PrE on a 64-bit OS, and your computer is adequately fast, the Timeline should play smoothly.
Let's look at your I/O sub-system, i.e. the SSD & HDD. That Samsung SpinPoint is a good HDD, but, if I read correctly, is both a "green" HDD (the EG = Eco-green), and is a 5400 RPM drive. Both of those are weaknesses for digital video editing. Ideally, the HDD should be 7200 RPM, and not a "green" unit, for greatest speed and performance. Were it my computer, I would add a 7200 RPM unit (could be SpinPoint, WD, etc.), for my Projects and media files, and use the SpinPoint EG for archives, etc.
A large SSD would be even faster, but would be expensive, and not sure that one would see a lot or real-time performance gains vs a 7200 RPM, non-green HDD. There would be a difference, but just not sure the uers would see all that much.
How large is your SSD, and how much free space does it have? The reason that I ask is to do a test Project, where your Project and your media, were ON that SSD. I'd do a small version of the one that you have now - maybe only one, or just a few, of your MTS files, with the same Project setting. This would take the SpinPoint out of the mix, and allow you to see if the i5 is capable of playing that test Project's Timeline smoothly.

Processing effects to end of view while in edit mode is missing

Back when Audition was Cool Edit Pro, they had an option while adding effects while in Edit Mode that would let you highlight a section of the waveform, add an effect say like an echo, then would allow to process that effect to the end of view. That was a beautiful thing.... Since Adobe took over, that has been missing. I can't believe I was the only one out there that used this option. It was a HUGE time saver!!! Say like I want to add an echo to only one word. I could highlight that word, add the echo, then have the word echo past the highlighted area until it faded completely, or reached the end of the view. Now, I have to highlight that word, cut and paste it into a new track, then go back into edit mode, extend silence to the end of the file, add the echo effect, go back to multitrack mode and then mixdown the 2 files. This is rediculous and time consuming. Am I missing that option somewhere or does it not exist?? Or maybe someone out there has a better way to do it???

Auto picking Excise values while booking customs invoice for Import.

Hi All..
I want to have the excise values(...BED,CVD,CESS,HCESS,SAD...), to be picked up in my MIRO screen while booking customs invoice for my imports.
These excise values have to be captured based on my PO excise values.As my PO has number of lineitems,its tough to enter the excise values manually one by one while booking my customs invoice (before migo...).
Could you pls share your experience and valuable ideas to capture this automatically.

First of all, as we do MIRO before MIGO in case of imports, the duties cannot be defaulted as per standard SAP. another problem you will face in applying any exits/enhancements is that Your PO will be in foreign currency , you will do MIRO in INR, at time of MIRO , what exchange rate do you expect system to pick up? because customs have their own exchange rate for the month which is different from the exchange rate mantained as per Forex .

We have checked and found Data collection and ASCP plans also completed normal, and DB links are also fine.
Can there be anther reason for this?
Note - After changing the request date to 15 May also same error exists.

Error while booking a person for a course in LSO!!

Folks,
I am getting an error " User Canceled Maintenance" while trying to book a person to a course. The person is hired properly in PA30. Not sure what step I missed out?

Address book edits

My address book will not accept edits.
When I type in a new email address for one of my contacts, close the address book, then open it again, the new address is not there. It's still the old address.
What now?

I've got a very similar problem. I edit an Address Book card by trying to swap the first two telephone numbers round. The first is a mobile number say 111, while the second is a "home" number say 222. I add a third phone number field and do the following cut & paste actions (showing the start situation):-

After clicking the Edit button to finish the edit, my change is undone! If before clicking the Edit button, I select another card for editing and then return to the first, the change is also undone. I thought the problem might have been something to do with the fact that my address book is published for another .mac user so I removed the check option in the Preferences, General, "Synchronize my contacts with other computers using .Mac". However, this didn't fix the problem.
I can add new contacts but cannot change their phone numbers around as desired. I can swap City for Postal code (in a Duch address format!)

Media encoder cc pauses while I edit in premiere cc!

If I try editing in premiere cc while encoding in media encoder cc, the encode pauses. what gives?

If you'll notice your encoding in AME, it normally maxes out all your CPU cores. It does mine. This is awesome!
But, if you want to edit, you need those cores, especially with Long-GOP footage that relies on CPU for real-time decompression. So, in effect, you're telling your computer to let Pr take over the CPU when you start editing in Pr.
It's a pretty smart way that Adobe enabled this behavior, if you ask me.
