Effort required to upgrade from VIRSA 4.0 to GRC 5.3

Dear SAP Experts,
Any body knows what is the effort required forupgrading VIRSA 4.0 to GRC 5.3.
Regards
Prasanth

Hi Prasanth,
that depends on two factors:
- extent of customization in your 4.0 installation
- experience with 5.3
If all you need to do is convert your existing data for risk analysis and mitigations into 5.3, the purely technical stuff can be done in one or two days.
I would recommend starting with a thorough examination of 5.3 features, though, and come up with a scope & plan for the upgrade. 5.3 offers A LOT more than 4.0 did, and you might want to take the opportunity and use that.
Then of course there's 10.0 which might also be an option, as it does not require you to change the platform from ABAP to Java...
Frank.

    Hi Guru's,
Can anybody explain what are the steps required for upgradation from 4.7 to ECC 6.0, technically and functionally. If any body have documents regarding the same, please share.Full marks will be awarded.thanx in advance....

    Hi
You have to aware of all related program like BDC's , Screens related errors and all dictionary related problems.
Some function modules may become obsolete, and some screens will change
abnd some new fields will be added in the new versions etc.
Also take care of SPAU and SPDD tcodes.
You should be able to know about Unicode concept in sap.
    chk this

also chk these 2 notes in service.sap.com
Technical Upgrade is only a version upgrade without any functionality changes.
The objects that are needed to be upgraded are:
    Includes
    Function Groups / Function Modules
    Programs / Reports
    OSS Notes
    SAP Repository Objects
    SAP Data Dictionary Objects
    Domains, Data Elements
    Tables, Structures and Views
    Module Pools, Sub Routine pools
    BDC Programs

  • Migration from VIRSA 4.0 to GRC 10.0 (ARA)

    Hi Guys,
We've just migrated from VIRSA 4.0 to GRC 10.0. We have only two connectors configured ECC and Finace System.
Rules have been generated and we're using the standard "global" ruleset. The rules seem to be generated successfully ( I've checked in the NWBC that the permissions appear after the risk generation and also I've checked some tables like GRACSYSRULE and GRACACTRULE and risks appear there).
When running  a risk analysis report at user level in both the system VIRSA 4.0 and GRC 10.0 the no. of conflicts matches where as no. of mitigation doesnot match.Due to this mis-match we are not in a position to go 100% LIVE with GRC and decommisioning VIRSA. We use concept of mitigated roles and not users. Raised the concern with SAP too 2 weeks back and no luck yet.
Does anyone faced a similar issue? can you give me some light in order to solve the issue?
    Many Thanks!
    Ratan Roy

    Hi Andrzej,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have one more simple question: how can I change the Violation or Mitigation counts to any RISK Ids?
Say for example:I wanted to make changes in violation and mitigation counts in below mentioned risk.
    Access Risk ID
    Risk Description
    No. of Conflict
    No. of Mitigation
    SOD Object
    F020
Open closed periods previously enter incoming payments

  • We have migrated data from virsa 4.0 to grc 10.1, all virsa mitigation approvers and controllers got migrated but we are not able to map new mitigation approver and controller to the mitigation ids.

    Hello All,
We have migrated data from virsa 4.0 to grc 10.1, all virsa mitigation
approvers and controllers got migrated but we are not able to map new
mitigation approver and controller to the mitigation ids.
The steps we have done below.
    1. We have created user id in su01 with necessary authorizations
    2. we have declared this user id in Access control owners as a
mitigation approver and assigned to the organization unit
Now we are trying to map to newly created mitigation approver to the
mitigation id but we are not able to find that approver id for the mitigation ids. (only old mitigation ids came from VIRSA only we are able to see, not able to add new mitigation approvers / controllers to the mitigation ids)
Kindly check this issue, this is very critical for us.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Karunakar

    Hi Karunakar,
    - Assign Owners to Organization unit
    - Make these owners as Mitigation Approver and Monitor
    - Create Mitigation Id in this Org. unit

  • MS System Center Operations Manager 2010 Download required for Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (Select)

We need the download of SCOM 2012 without Service Pack1.
Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (select license) fails while upgrade check with error: Logs shows "At least one of the following applications is installed on this computer. Due
to incompatibility with System Center 2012 - Operations Manager, these applications must be uninstalled."
Upgrade was started from dos elevated prompt with modified parameters like this:
    setup.exe /silent /upgrade
    /AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement:1
    /UseLocalSystemDASAccount
    /DataReaderUser:<domain\user>
    /DataReaderPassword:<password>
Research in internet and we found another person with same issue, which reports that direct upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 SP1 is not possible but if upgrade is done over
SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2012 SP1 it succeeds.
Unfortunately, we don't find any downloads for the first release of System Center 2012  e.g. Operations Manager.
Everything shows Service Pack 1 or the newer R2.

  • Frequent Rebuild Requires After Upgrade from 9i to 10g

    Hi Friends,
Recently we have upgraded our production database from 9i to 10g and after that the performance of certain queries degraded drastically. when we did a workaround of rebuilding the table and associated indexes for these queries, it performs as fast as 9i.
Can anybody clarify why the same query which was working very fine without rebuild in 9i requires a rebuild in 10g?
Please note that the tables involved in this query are very huge and a frequent rebuild is not a permanent solution for us :-)

  • Requirements for upgrading from LR3 to LR4

The processor requirements for LR4 reads "Multicore Intel processor with 64 bit support." The processor description in the iMac I bought in early 2009 reads "2.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo." Will my processor handle LR4?
    Thank you
    Jim B

As mentioned above the d/load will be the current release whereas the disk version will be 4.0 and need updating.
There are many differences between Lr3 and 4 though including catalogs (Lr3 catalogs will have a copy made and upgraded) and processing (a new process version) which can alter image appearance of existing files. So don't update the process version on existing files before you have experimented - I do it only when reviewing a file if I feel I can work it better with the new version, not updating the whole lot at once!!

  • Please help required to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.

    Hello Community!
I have a iMac model 11,3. With 27" screen, Intel Core i7 2.93 Ghz, 12 GB ram, 1 TB hd.
My only internal disk is "Macintosh HD".
It's now running Snow Leopard fully updated to the latest.
I bought and downloaded Mountain Lion from the App Store.
But it refuses to upgrade saying "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer".
This seems so stupid because its starts the computer with Snow Leopard each time.
So please, anyone can tell me what is happening and how to solve this ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Help required in upgrading from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7

We are having our application running on forms 4.5 and oracle 8.1.5 on winNT and Win2k. Now for the time being we want to upgrade to oracle 8.1.7, for that I need all steps to be performed, can any one help me? Pls!!!

    Hi,
normally there is a file "Readme.html" in the root of the patch CD/directory that states the upgrade path.
I don't have by the hand a 8.1.7 CD, but the standard path is:
    - Disconnect all the clients
    - shutdown DB using shutdown immediate
    - stop all Oracle services (Listener, Agent, Management Server, etc.)
    - Make a full backup
    - Install new version of the software
    - FIx Init.ora parameters
    - startup DB with STARTUP MIGRATE
    - execute the catpatch script
    - shutdown immediate
    - startup
But Readme instructions that follow the product version may state something little different so IT IS MANDATORY to follow the instructions.
    Hope this helps

  • What's required to upgrade from 1.4.0 to 1.4.2?

I've got four Xserve RAIDs in a single Xsan, with two MDCs (both PowerPC Xserves running OS X Server 10.4.11). They were running Xsan 1.4.0, which meant a lot of our Leopard clients were reporting incorrect sizes for files -- like, video files that were really 10GB would show up as 1.4TB and the like.
I downloaded & installed XsanFilesystemUpdate142.dmg, as well as the Xsan Admin Tools for 1.4.2. After the installation was done on both MDCs, I shutdown one MDC and ran cvfsck on the remaining MDC for each of my two volumes.
The trouble is, the file size issue persists -- Leopard clients are still having difficulty seeing the correct file sizes. Did I miss a step in the upgrade? The Xsan Migration Guide seems to be pretty thin on details...
    Thanks!
    Chris

Please let me know if you start have issue with 1.4.2 we did the upgrade and I assume it created problems

  • Effort to upgrade from version 9.0.4.5 to 10.1.3.0.0

What kind of effort is required to upgrade from 9.0.4.5 of Toplink to 10.1.3.0 (or later)? Any tips on estimating this effort? Any gotchas? Good Experiences? Bad Experiences?
    Thanks,
    Michael

If you're talking about a big system, 200+ descriptors, it could be like this:
    Sorry for the long post.
I have been upgrading from 9.0.3x to 10.1.3.0 and have been running into quite a few things that seem to have been tightened up in the tl runtime.
Now, I would say that we have a test suite of 550 tests that tries to excercise the code and the TL implementation. And the way we implemented many of tests was with disregard for how TL would react to cached object changes. So, for example, in 9.03 we could get away with adding objects to TL-cached container objects outside of a UOW and it would not affect other objects in the system. But with 10.1.3 the cache got globally messed up and subsequent tests failed.
It was aggrevating that the tests would run independently and I had to debug the test suite. BUT this is mainly in the way we were testing and goes against the TOPLink mantra of "don't change a toplink object outside a uow". So you probably won't run into that.
I had a couple of remappings I had to do after using the Workbench to convert. Most were because in 9.0.3 you weren't required to have all of the heirarchy present in the builder for mapping inherited attributes and the builder left a few subclass descriptor mappings off.
I had some expression issues when dealing with the aggregate object vs. query keys. In 9.03 you could say exp.get("date").equal(aDateWrapper.getDate()) and if date was an aggregate mapping of DateWrapper and a querykey it would still work. But this threw an exception in 10.1.3. I had to clean it up to say
    exp.get("date").equal(aDateWrapper), which is more correct.
If your object model is pretty complex, like ours, you may have implemented some strange hierarchies/mappings. Another thread "Trouble implementing non-key relationship", highlights an issue I couldn't figure out.
The Package renaming gave me some issues because the UnitOfWork deprecation was not included. The original UnitOfWork remains in the code but shows a deprecation marker. That's fine. But there are so many deprecations in 10.1.3 that I had some trouble tracking down ALL of the deprecated declarations of UOW. SO, to get rid of this UnitOfWork deprecation use a global replace if you can. Or just take better refactoring steps than I did. It would be best if the package rename could have somehow included that.
It's been three weeks so far and I'm just now testing the application instead of the test suite. Overall I'm glad to be upgrading, but I'll definitely keep a closer watch on upgrades from now on. And I'm glad for the 550 tests.

  • Upgrade from JDK 1.2.2 to JDK 1.4.2. Any code changes required?

    Hi,
We are in the processes of upgrading the JDK versions on servers to JDK 1.4.2 to support other software upgrades.
The JDK versions on each of the servers are at different versions. On one of the servers, the version of JDK is currently at JDK 1.2.2_10. Can somebody please advise me if there would be any code changes required to support this upgrade (such as some methods being depreciated)?
We are also evaluating if we need to upgrade to JDK 1.4.5. In such a case, would there be any code changes required to upgrade from JDK 1.4.1_x to JDK 1.4.5. I assume there wouldn't be any changes for this minor upgrade but just want to confirm.
I would really appreciate an early reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vamshi

    "1.4.5" - you meant "1.5" ? :)
About deprecations -- you will be warned by the compiler. E.g. "assert", "enum" are keywords and cannot be used as method names.
The rest depends on your application. The more complex it is, the more differences can be encountered. You certainly need to run a test cycle for it with the new platform.
From my experience, I can list some issues that I have read about or have experienced myself:
    1) serialization: the algorithm used to calculate the serialVersionUID had some changes between Java versions, due to compiler-added extra methods.
If you don't have serialized instances, or your serialVersionUID is specified explicitly, you are safe.
    2) class loading order can be different in different platforms
Once ago I have seen a paper from BEA Systems highlighting some open topics that can arise when migrating between different vendor's JVMs. Probably, it is the one:
    http://edocs.bea.com/jrockit/geninfo/devapps/codeprac.html
In my friend's case, there was some class-initialization logic, that behaved differently when class loading order changed.
    3) Swing applications can sometimes behave slightly different.
E.g., I observed some changes in focus handling, although minor ones. Fixed with several lines of code.
    4) Some libraries can depend on particular J2SE version. E.g. J2EE ones.
E.g. I was not able to run J2EE 1.4 thick client application with JRE 1.5. The j2ee library used by the app either had some dependencies on sun.* classes, or on some protocols (not sure, I don't remember it well).
    5) Regression bugs are sometimes encountered. I.e. something that worked, does not work now.
    Summary: You need testing.

  • Steps required to upgrade OS from snow leopard to yosemite

What are the steps required to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Yosemite

    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
