EFI Problem after windows 8.1 installation

Hello,
I already made thread about this issue to macrumors, but yet I haven't found a solution. So after windows installation I have now two windows entries at EFI.
My computer is 15" late 2013 rMBP.

i have updated my MacBook 2010 EFI to MB71.0039.B0E which is 2.1 version
after updating to this version the Boot time become much slower when i want to change boot partition
and shutdown become very much slower and startup too
i tried to install Mac OS X Lion again but it doesnt help
can i downgrade to this version 2.0 ???
or when Apple will release the new version ?
or where can i send a feedback regarding this issues !!!!

Can't play Song After Windows(Boot Camp) installation

Itune stoped playing many mp3 song .
I installed windows with boot camp and played some songs in windows media player ,
right after I finshed the installation , I tried to play some songs in Itunes, but Itunes won't even recognize them ,
He just skip them , he also removed the artwork icon form them.
those several songs can play with quicklook with no problem .

Problems after Xcode 2.5 Installation?

I wanted to check if anyone else was having weird problems after installing Xcode 2.5. Namely, a huge chunk of the libraries I installed in /usr/local/ seems to have been wiped out, causing programs that have dependencies to not work. So now I have install them all over again. Has anyone else had this happen?

I must have misread the question. My answer is wrong. I thought it read after upgrading to 10.5.
Installing Xcode2.5 shouldn't have anything to do with what is in /usr/local. If it hoses that, it is completely unacceptable and a horrible bug.

No headphone sound after Windows 7 clean installation

Hello.
I recently performed a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium. Before that on preinstalled Windows the problem described below did not show up, sound worked just great.
Now I don't have sound when inserting my headphones in jack (built-in speakers work fine however). Windows reports that sound works, no problems found, but I hear nothing. On the same computer I have also Linux installed and the same headphones work well there in the same jack.
When I put my headphones in, Realtek Manager makes notification that the device is plugged in.
My model is Qosmio X775-3DV78. What I have tried so far:
1) Reinstalling, updating, removing, trying different versions of Realtek HD Audio driver.
2) Changing every possible setting in Realtek HD Audio Manager.
3) Trying different headphones - same result: nothing.
4) Changing settings in Playback Devices.
Since it worked before reinstalling Windows and since it works on Linux on the same computer, there is definitely something wrong with my drivers. Could you please provide information as to what drivers exactly I should have installed to make sound work correctly? Maybe some motherboard driver is missing (though I installed everything important I could find on Toshiba site).
Attached are some important screenshots. Please note that there are 2 unknown devices in my Device Manager and also USB Controller driver has problems, though I do not think it has any connection with the problem.
* On both Playback Devices forms Disabled Devices and Disconnected Devices are shown.

UPDATE: One of "Unknown devices" proved to be Toshiba HDD Shock Sensor driver and another one is ACPI\TOS6205.

I have just done the same upgrade to Windows7 and I have no sound from the headphone jack. Also when I plug into it, I don't get the old Realtek Audio evaluation screen for audio setup.
However I do not use headphones, as I have been using a RCA jack to plug from the headphones output jack to
a portilble shortwave radio that I have utilized the 6 inch woofer for the past three years since buying the laptop new, for better output and base sound from the radio speaker while simultaneously running the stereo built-in speakers on the laptop.
Can someone tell me that I should just update the laptop audio card by re-installing the original Realtek Audio Driver? Is that easily accessible here in the official Toshiba site? Also if possible, please inform me of other driver updates that would most likely need re-installation processes after this Windows 7 update.

Startup Problems after Firefox 2.0 Installation. Help, please.

A few nights ago I finally acquiesced to the repeated friendly messages asking me to upgrade to firefox 2.0. After installation I restarted firefox and things were going just fine (although I was a little underwhelmed). Still, my mac worked and that's all I particularly care about.
I shut down my MacBook Pro that night without a thought, but now when I try to boot up I get as far as the login screen, enter my information, and then instead of being taken to my desktop I get a blank default background and a pointer--and that's it. Sometimes if I leave the blank background long enough it will close and return me again to the login screen ad naseum.
Does anyone know what's going on here? And out of curiousity, has anyone else had similar problems with the new Firefox? Most importantly, can anyone tell me how to fix this?
(I've already tried starting up in safe mode, by the way. Same thing happens regardless.)

Hi and welcome to the discussions, You may need to repair your startup disk. Boot from your install disc and hold "C" down after you hear the tone and release when you see the Apple logo. Choose your language. Then when the install window opens, choose "Utilities>Disk Utility" from the menu bar. Select the startup volume"MacintoshHD" and click Repair Disk in the lower left after its finished, repair permissions then restart.

Miix 10 - Graphics, sound and general performance problems after Windows 8.1 upgrade

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8 (tablet Lenovo Miix 10) and I encountered the following problems:
1. It wasn't possible to install an update of Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver through Windows Update. This update was "available" until I downloaded the new chipset drivers from Lenovo support.
2. Some times after returning from standby, It displays the message that the graphics card had crashed.
3. I have encountered several problems in these applications:
a) Twitter: When I scroll up and down my timeline the flow is not smooth. When I stop the scrolling to see a tweet the display does not stop, but it does a small "jump" in the direction that I was scolling before It returns to the point that I had stopped scrolling.

the other issues ive not experienced!
i felt my tablet was very stable and fast, bar the GFx problem, (bearing in mind its a Atom)
id advise removing any apps you dont require,
doing a C Drive Clean up, (right click C drive,properties, disk clean up, then system disk clean up.)
then also doing a Defrag button in tools (it wont Defrag as its SSD, but it will TRIM the disk, (its done weekly by default anyway..)

Problem after Windows 7 update 18. July 2013

When trying to open a new project or to open any existing project Premiere Elements 9 starts to load files but stops after some 20 seconds without error message.
Is there a way to solve this problem without uninstalling the recent updates?

The only problem Windows Update kb that we are aware of relates to the 1/2 wmv display recent Windows Update kb. This matter is highlighted in the Announcement at the top of the forum. For your convenience, it should look like
If you have done that already, then the quickest action might probably be to uninstall the recent updates that came immediately before the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 problems set in. The Windows Updates may have nothing to do with this problem, but quick if it works and good to rule it out if it is not involved.
Have you been moving around source media for your projects after the projects have been saved closed?
Also, depending on how things go, you may want to check out the Adobe Tech document on damaged projects...

Strippe Problem after windows re-install...

I'm the happy owner of a K8N Diamond Plus with, as you know, two raid controllers onboard (NVidia & Silicon Image).
I've been using two strippe (Raid0) on the two raid controllers for 6 months now w/o any problem...
Since my windows became unstable, i've decided to do a fresh windows xp re-install.
My system boots from a strippe (connected to the NVidia Raid controller, 2x250Gb Raid0) w/o any problem BUT after reinstalling windows and installed the
silicon image raid driver it couldn't recover the strippe (raid0) connected to the silicon image controller (drivers & utility are installed correctly).
How can i recover my partitions on this strippe !!
I really need to recover those because i've really valuable data on those drive.
I can't understand why my raid0 & my partitions where automaticaly recovered when installing the drivers & software... It works fine with all other raid controllers i've ever used.. (promise & nvidia)
Any help appreciated..

Boot devices broken after Windows 8.1 installation

Hey guys, I work for an IT company and am having some troubles after installing Windows 8.1. I run an enterprise copy provided from my company, so I couldn't do the update, and used an ISO to perform the update manually.
After the update, I'm no longer able to boot to anything besides the Windows Boot Manager. This includes all CDs, DVDs, and USB devices. I also can't boot to my Linux installation, but that was expected to break during the upgrade.
I have a computer with UEFI, I've disabled fast boot and secure boot. I've tried setting my bios boot to UEFI (which should work with GPT disks created with applications like rufus) CSM, and UEFI and CSM. When I try CSM, I don't have any boot options and
my computer gives me an error about trying all boot options and failing.
At this point, I can't boot to a USB CDROM, or any of my live USB disks. I have created both legacy boot disks and UEFI boot disks to no avail. I have tried resetting my BIOS to factory defaults.
Advanced startup settings doesn't give me an option to boot from a device any more like it used to either, so that's out of the question. I can't even wipe my PC and start again because I can't boot to anything besides Windows 8.1.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Also, booting to recovery doesn't work. I have a recovery disk that I created, but I can't use it because I can't boot to recovery (on Samsung, F4 at boot) to apply the image.

In Windows 8.1, you need to use the tools available inside Windows 8.1 to boot to a DVD or USB drive.
Please open PC settings and click Update & Recovery, and choose Advanced Startup option.

T410 - Keyboard problems after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Hi to all!
Recently i'm facing huge problems with the keyboard of my T410.
The Laptop shuts down when I press "Alt Gr", if I press shutdown - the screen spins several times before shutting down, if I use the arrow-keys the screen also flips, the normal letter-keys won't work at all. Every pressed Button makes a little beepsound.
The scrolling-funktion on the touchpad doesnt work either.
Using an USB-Keyboard / Mouse, I have no problems at all.
I have installed the latest drivers and bios-update.
This problem is there after I upgraded windows 8 to windows 8.1. All windows-updates have been made.
Do you have any tips to use my Laptop as a laptop again? At the moment I have a small desktop PC as the laptop won't work without usb-keyboard and muse.

I don't no what in-place means but I installed the Upgrade to 8.1 via the Windosw Store on a running Windows8 system.
I just re-ran System Update in the latest version, checked windows updates, checked the drivers via the lenovo support page manually, latest bios...but still doesnt work.
In the Windows 8.1 Tested System List from the lenovo homepage which I just found is the T410 not listed. So I assume it could be a compatibility problem.
Back to Win8?

Ethernet controller driver not installing after Windows Server 2008 installation on Cisco UCS blade

I am using MDT 2010 to deploy Windows Server 2008 to a Cisco UCS B200 blade. The OS and hotfixes install with no problem. The system reboots and attempts to connect to the deployment share to continue with the task sequence and I receive an error stating
"A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed. PCI\VEN_1137&DEV_0043&SUBSYS_00481137&REV_A2"
The driver in question is the driver for the Ethernet controller for the UCS blade. More specifically, it is the network driver for the Palo card in the UCS Chassis. When I Ignore or Abort the install, I am able to manually install the driver and restart the
task sequence. The build then completes successfully with no further issue. I just cannot seem to automate the driver install. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue?

I was preparing a script to manually move the driver into the c:\windows\inf location when I had to stop to create a new task sequence for a different build. It was while building this task sequence that I found the soulution to the problem.
In the Post Install -> Inject Drivers step of the Task Sequence, I noticed that it was executing a command of type "Inject Drivers" with a selection profile of "All Drivers" and "Install only matching drivers
from the selection profile" selected.
I changed this to run a command of type "Run Command Line" and specified that it execute "%Scriptroot%\ZTIdrivers.wsf". I noticed that this was selected in one of my other builds that was working properly, so I thought I'd
give it a try. - IT WORKED.
So to sum up, the solution was to change the type of command being executed in the "Post Install -> Inject Drivers" step of the task sequence. After this change, the machine came up and continued the task sequence with no further issues.

Lack of sound after Window 7 (64) installation into iMac OX 10.6.7. Tried to install driver from Snow Lepard disc (Cirrus 64).Wizard installed driver. No sound, Device Manager indicated that "driver is not installed" but also that the"device is working"

I didn't have sound after installing Windows 7 inot iMac OX 10.6.7 (64bit) After unsuccessful attempt to upgrade the driver from the BootCamp file, I deleted the driver from the Sound and Game controlled hoping that I would allow me to automatically install the correct driver from Boot camp.
Now the Sound Video Game controller disappeared from the Device Manager
How can I find out which is the correct sound driver for my computer (The Speaker Properties only say:WIndows)?
How can I install it without seing the Sound and Game controller in the Device Manager?

When you say "manually download", you mean from the BootCamp File on Snow Leopard, or from the Internet.
My additional problem is that the "Sound and Video Game Controller" disappeared from the Device Manager when I removed the previous driver. I don't find the place where I can reistall the new driver.

Audio problems after windows 8.1 update

My audio volume has gone to barely audible after I went to 8.1 however only for certain things.
When I try to listen to a vidio clip on Yahoo or other news feeds I can barely hear anything and when I play
free cell or solitare and make a wrong move the audio warning is just barley audible.
However when I listen to a Facebook audio it comes booming in as before the upgrade. and when Malware bites
does a update the signal is very loud
I re downloaded the realtec audio driver for 8.1 and have gone through all the settings I know about
and nothing works to help.
I would go back to the old Windows 8 ( I don't think 8.1 is any better anyway ) but I will loose my
Microsoft office download and some game downloads I have installed and have to re buy them.
Any Help ?

Hi rckuehl. It may have been caused by installing the Microsoft August 2014 update for Windows 8.1 - KB2975719.
Try uninstalling the KB2975719 to see if the sound problems go away. If not, try installing newer Realtek HD Audio drivers as your E55-A5114 laptop uses Realtek audio drivers; original driver for that model was 6.0.1.7026. The latest Realtek HD Audio driver from Toshiba is version 6.0.1.7329 which was posted 9-25-2014.

USB problems after Windows 8.1 update

Since I updated to windows 8.1 my USB ports have problems. The issues occur when I am trying to use a USB to serial cable. It will work for a short period of time and then stop. The error I get says connected device quit responding. Then it will start working again. Sometimes the system will crash and the error is that the driver unloaded before a que'd request was finished. When this happens, it takes about 5 minutes for the computer to come back up.
I had no such issues before the upgrade. Cisco anyconnect, VPN software no longer works either and I don't have the software myself as it was emotely downloaded by my company tech support, but any suggestion for fixing it would be appreciated as well.
