EHP4 installation in ECC 6.0 on Unix and Oracle

Hi,
We are trying to install EHP4 enhancement package in our HR system which is on ECC 6.0 platform.
In the extraction phase it is failing at phase PREP_INPUT/SCANDIR_EXTRACT
Process "SAPCAR" exited with 40, see /usr/sap/SID/EHPI/abap/log/CAR.ECO
CAR .ECO:-
EXECUTING /usr/sap/HD2/EHPI/abap/tools/SAPCAR (/usr/sap/HD2/EHPI/abap/tools/SAPCAR) -j -R /usr/sap/HD2/trans -xvf /usr/sap/HD2/trans/EPS/in/K-60004INISH.CAR-GGG
processing archive /usr/sap/HD2/trans/EPS/in/K-60004INISH.CAR-GGG...
SAPCAR: the option -j has no effect when working with old archives.
x EPS/in/CSR0120031469_0023239.ATT
x EPS/in/CSR0120031469_0023239.PAT
can't decompress /usr/sap/HD2/trans/EPS/in/K-60004INISH.CAR-GGG
Process with ID 28757 terminated with status 40
Please can you help us resolve the issue?
Thanks & regards,
Rozal

Hi Sunny,
I tried to uncar it manually but it vain.
It shows the same that "cannot decompress the file K-60004INISH.CAR-GGG".
But I am just curious to know have you come across this extension before .CAR-GGG
And in addition to we have the latest version of SAPCAR installed in our system.
Please suggest.
Thanks & regards,
Rozal

  • Dial Up between Oracle on HP-Unix and Oracle on Windows 95

    Hello Everybody
I have Oracle Enterprise edition 8.0.4 on HP-Unix and Personal
Oracle 8.0.3 on Windows 95. I want to establish connection
between these two databases through dial-up. I have already
    established connectivity through lease line.
I can dial up through Windows machine but I am not able to dial
up through HP-9000 server. Please can anybody guide me. I will be
    highly obliged.
    Thanks in advance.

    Noble,
This is not the best forum for this question.
Maybe the public news forums would be better,
or Oracle support if it is available to you.
    My comments would be:
Oracle has the async v1 and v2 protocol for doing this,
but your best bet is to set up a tcp/ip ppp connection, as used
    by 200 million internet users..
This may raise some security concerns, but dialling back to the
server trying to make the connection, as well as the normal
password protection gives some security comfort.
Information on how to do this should be widely available as it is
not Oracle or windows or hp specific.
You can then use a normal tcp/ip connection database link etc..

This looks like some sort of resource issue. Have you looked at this post (similar issue): [JC00 instance could not start on the last phase of NW04 installation|JC00 instance could not start on the last phase of NW04 installation;?
    Hope that is helpful.

  • ECC 5 - WIN app server and ORACLE db on UNIX

    Hello,
The Israeli Phoenix Assurance company is about to implement SAP (FI/MM/CO-PA/BW/SRM). We have decided to run the application on windows machines and consider to deploy the DB on our main DB machine which runs ORACLE on AIX.
We have heard from SAP that this combination is supported but it was a "weak answer".
Does anyone have specific experience or any knowledge about this one?
    Many thanks,
    David Elovits

    Hi Saud,
    Environment variable means that dynamic named values. These values are affecting operating system tasks. Find the information in the document, below;
    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environment_variable
You can use "export" command by most of the linux variants, in order to set environment variables. You can make a search over the Internet to find more information.
You can set these parameters on the operating system console or set them in the user profile files by using vi editor. Home directory for each user has a file named ".profile" which contains environment variables belong to the user and can be edited by vi editor, for example on ksh shell. Please note that the profile filename changes by type of the shell.
    Best regards,

  • CISCO Load Balancer with SAP on Unix and Oracle

    Hello Experts,
Explain me the steps How CISCO Load balancing Mechanism works with SAP Enterprise Portal?
If anyone implemented and achieved the same, please explain me the steps to follow from Initial Stage to end of implementation.
Or If you have any documentation on this just share with me or point me to the particular link.
I have seen the below SAP help which is somewhat helpful.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/d3/e12840d89d185de10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
I would like to know how CISCO will connect to M/essage Server /Java Dispatcher.
And explain me the steps to follow to implement External Facing Portal using Cisco Loadbalancer.
This should be achieved in Unix environment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Karthick Eswaran
*Points will be rewarded for helpful suggestions

We use F5 for loadbalancing, but all hardware loadbalancing solutions should similar. They offer multiple algorithms, we use simple round robin (SAP's webdispatcher has better options for load balancing). You create virtual IP to your CISCO loadbalancer. You then configure Cisco to route traffic to each portal application server. If you have CI + 2 appservers, you configure the loadbalancer to send traffic to cihost:port, appserver1:port, appserver2:port. You also create a DNS alias to the virtual IP of the loadbalancer. End users will use the DNS alias to connect your portal. Typically you use standard ports (80 & 443) on Cisco, so that end user URL does not contain any ports (so http traffic goes to port 80, https goes to port 443). You also need to enable cookie persistence on the load balancer for session persistence.
For external facing portal, you need to have your loadbalancer in DMZ and you want to use SSL. You also need to setup firewall rules for your portal and backend servers.

    Hi all,
I am using a xeon 4 CPU machine with Windows 2003 (64 bit). I just downloaded Oracle 9.2 (64 bit) and found that it needs Itanium processor. Is this an absolute requirement? Can I still run it on xeon? What are the problems?

  • Unix and Oracle access audit for SAP

We are running R/3 4.6C on HPUX11/Oracle 9.2.0.6. Our auditors asked us to log and audit access to the Oracle database at the OS level, bypassing the SAP layer. For example, someone logging in, sudo to ora<sid>, execute sqlplus and view or modify a financial document. They did not give us possible ways of doing this. Our SAs and DBAs are a little stumped about getting their hands around the scope of this. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Atul Patankar
    2406622448

Number one is to lockdown the access to SQLPlus in Oracle. If this is your SAP DB there should not be any changes made at the DBA level as it invalidates the product.
Number 2 remind your auditors of the change log. If all of a sudden the values change and there is no change Log in SAP it had to be done at the OS/DB level. -- Who did access during that interval.
-- There is the possibility of establishing a DB trigger for any change that would as well propagate the logged in user and write the changes to a log table. Remember to purge to tape and archive VERY often...
    Enjoy

  • How to include Add-On in EHP4 Installation

This is a fresh install on Unix and Oracle.
We have already installed ERP 6.0 EHP4 Ready and now preparing for EHP4 Install using EHP Installer. We have two Add-Ons CPRXRPM 400 and ECC-SE 604 that we want to include in EHP4 installation. We have already copied the .SAR files for both Add-Ons into Download Directory.
I am not able to figure out how to make Installer pick up these Add-Ons. In BIND_PATCH step and (also in screen where it displays calculated queues) I  see all the patches that we downloaded from Solution Manager are listed but do not see my Add-ons. At what stage will these be included or do I need to do something to add them manually.?
    Zak

    Hi,
When you will download the patches from solution manager there you need to select Technical Usage corresponding to these packages then information about these technical usage will be present in stack xml file. So, ehpi installer will read about these packages from stack xml file and include them in upgrade.
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • EHP4 installation error

    Hi everybody.
We are running an EHP4 installation in ECC 6.0 using EHPI installer.
At pre-proccesing phase, when installation is activating abap objects we receive an error because it is not possible to connect sap gateway of service sapgw11 (11 is the number of the shadow instance)
We are looking for procceses and there is no one running for shadow intance.
On this way, we are sure that shadows instance must be started, but we are not able to start it.
When we try to do it, we receive this error:

    Instance on host tu1v1ecc started
We can't start shadow instance so installation is stopped.
If anybody knows how to start it, will be great.
Thanks a lot in advance to everybody.
    Best regards.

    Hi Daniela,
In order to start the shadow instance, please follow below steps
    1) Shutdown the CI .
    2) The used cleanipc command to clear all semaphores for both shadow instance and CI.
    3) Start your CI.
    4) go to your upgrade directory (<path-EHPI/abap/bin>).Use below command to start shadow instance
    startsap_shd -t R3 -i <Shados instance name> -r <root directory for upgrade> -u <Shadow instance owner>
Please also check in logs if some file (e.g .sapstream file) is in used for in /tmp directory for shadow instance. If it is in use the rename it. and start.
If still phase problem then please let me know.
    Thanks

  • EHP4 installation on top of ecc 6.0

    Hi,
I have planned to install ecc 6.0 sr3 windows 2008 server oracle and put ehp4 on top of it.Pls guide me how to do that.
I have read the doc where they have told to provide space for the seperate shadow instance of 100 gb.I have planned to keep to keep 400 gb of hard disk for the ecc 6.0 installation. So do i need to provide extra space(new partition) for the shadow instance?and also i have read that finally this shadow instance will be converted to real instance. So my original space would go after converting in to ehp4?
also tell me what post installation to be done after ecc 6.0 installation.Say i do all the post installation for ecc 6.0 including client creation and clinet copy with update of stack to 14.After this do i need to do ehp4?
pls guide me in this as i need to it urjently.
    Rajesh

    > I have planned to install ecc 6.0 sr3 windows 2008 server oracle and put ehp4 on top of it.Pls guide me how to do that.
    You have two possibilities:
    - read the installation guides (http://service.sap.com/instguides) and try yourself
    - get a basis consultant on your side to help you
    > I have read the doc where they have told to provide space for the seperate shadow instance of 100 gb.I have planned to keep to keep 400 gb of hard disk for the ecc 6.0 installation. So do i need to provide extra space(new partition) for the shadow instance?and also i have read that finally this shadow instance will be converted to real instance. So my original space would go after converting in to ehp4?
A shadow instance will be built with parts of the tables of the source instance, the new coding from the EHP4 packages is imported and is then merged with your original instance. And yes, those 100 GB are free after that again.
    > also tell me what post installation to be done after ecc 6.0 installation.Say i do all the post installation for ecc 6.0 including client creation and clinet copy with update of stack to 14.After this do i need to do ehp4?
    Yes.
    > pls guide me in this as i need to it urjently.
To start the installation you need an installed and configured Solution Manager system. You need that to generate the installation keys and to generate a valid XML file for the EHP4 installation.
And: This is here is a public forum, it's not meant to "teach" you. If you want some real guidance I suggest you attend some SAP classes if you have never done an installation before, especially if Oracle is involved.

    Hi,
4 ETQ399 ... Error reading stack info (rc=-1, reason="The stack configuration is not valid for the system XX1, inst.-no. INITIAL")
Just to make sure, have you generated and applied "Permanent License" ?
If not, Then generate both Product License and Maintenance license key  on Service Market Place and install it on newly installed server.
    Then try again...

  • SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP: Own client needed for SRM?

    Hello experts,
    i've a question concerning the SRM "one-client" installation on ECC 6.0 EhP4 as Add-On.
Is it possible to use SRM and ERP funtionality in a single client e.g. 001?
Or do we have to use different clients on the system like for SUS?
I haven't found any information regarding this topic in SAP ressources. I'm currently using CG "SAP SRM on One Client in
SAP ERP" Release date 2008 (found on marketplace/srm-inst --> srm7.0); SRM - Technical Basis Configuration (BuildingBlock S00/S03). I'm facing problems while going through the following customizing steps:
Assign logical System to Client [both logicall systems are on the same client (001)] ==> error while trying to reference the second logical sys. because client (001) cannot be used again (own presumption: error message differs)
I've seen that some of you have successfully installed and customized this szenario. If someone could provide me any helpful information or guideline how to proceed in general... would be great...
    Best regards,
    PATRICK

Thanks for your reply. I've checked the offline documentation because i've no access to solman.
There is a document which describes the steps for configuring one-client customizing on marketplace.
Link: [SAP SRM 7.0: SAP SRM on One Client with SAP ERP|https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001201562009E]
The problem is that its impossible to cofigure the system like it's described in the document.
    Let me explain why...
SRM Addon is installed and customizing is done in client 001 (same client as erp)
    overview about defined logical systems:
    -ONECLNTERP (for ERP is defined)
    -ONECLNTEBP (for SRM is defined)
When I try to assign the logical system to client 001 it works for the first entry
for the second log. system it shows up an error message.
-->I assume because client 001 has been already assigned. I cant use client 001 again.
But One-Client szenario schould be possible in a single client or is SAPs One-Client more like One-System with differnet clients for SRM and ERP on the same machine?
Because of the above mentioned problem I assume that it's impossible to run ERP and SRM in the same Client number.
Am I right? Do I have to use two Clients on One System for proper Customizing?
Or if it's possible to use a single client on one machine for both ERP and SRM how is it possible to assign two log. systems to one client number?
I'm totally confused. Any help would be appreciated  - any tips/hints/experiences from someone who has customized One-Client?
    BR, Patrick
