EHP4 on MSCS 2008 - PHASE KX_CPYORG - Instance number conflict

Hello Experts,
Need some help on EHP4 on MSCS 2008.
We are Installing EHP4 on ECC 6.0 Windows 2008 - MSCS cluster 2008 environment and facing a problem while instllation Step EXTRACTION and PHASE  KX_CPYORG. We have successfully installed on Sandbox and Dev regions, but now as our QAS is a Cluster environment we believe it is causing the problem.
Below is the error log from E:\usr\sap\<SID>\EHPI\abap\log KX_CPYORG.txt
1 ETQ201 Entering upgrade-phase "KX_CPYORG" ("20101113145523")

Some details of our system
- The ASCS instance number is installaed on the Cluster and no. is 40
- The Central Instance is installed on a separate standalone VM Server with Instance number 41.
- The EHPI is triggered on the Central instance on the VM.
- Error is throwing exactly after the step accepting the profiles (All three).
Also with this error the SAPup is completely failing and stopping the Installation with the below error.
======================================================
Unable to execute the SDT request ABAP operation revoke-extract on hostname chgva-sap-meq instance 41
Unable to determine if a revoke of the ABAP upgrade request ABAP is possible
Cannot check for revoke possibility
Tool died unexpectedly with
FATAL ERROR: Inconsistent system number in profile '41' != '40'

Any suggestions/solutions in resolving the issue are appreciated.
Thanks
Ajay

Hi,
It looks like there is some problem in reading profiles. Are all profiles present in profile directory (including ASCS and CI) ?
Also, make sure that while you select the system number of shadow instance then it should not be 40 and 41.
Thanks
Sunny

    Hi,
As per the information provided by me, your number of oracle sessions might have exhausted. Hence the error no connect to database possible appeared.
You should look into alert_<SID>.log file for more details.
If oracle session issues appear in the log , increase the same and repeat the DDIC_UPG phase.
    Hope this helps.

  • Central instance number

    hi all,
at the time of doing installation we are giving the number for central instance.
My doubt is that we can give any number (upto 100) or is there any restriction in the numbers for giving central instance number.
    answers will be apprecited
    regards
    vijay

    Hi Vijay,
Theoretically we can use from 00-97 but practically it depends on the Operating system like UNIX or windows. In HP-UX you cant use 75 as its being used by operating system. In windows you cant use 43,60 or  89 as its being used by MSCS ,iSCSI, windows terminal service respectively

  • Shadow instance number doubled on host

    Hello together,
I need help with the following scenario.
I have running two ehp4 upgrade on the same host. And now during preprocessing i found
out the both are running with the same shadow instance sys number. I don't how this could
happen, but now the second shadow instance is not comming up.
Both are running wir DVEBMGS06. Upgrade1 already reched spdd. The second wants to schedule
job in shadow instsance, but this is not up. How i can change the shadow instance system number?
    Please help
    Regards
    Robert

    Hi,
I can suggest you to change the shadow system number and check as I am not sure whether this would work.
Chage the instance number of the shadow instance in the file <DIR_PUT>/bin/R3ENV.LST.  Entry:
"<No.>" # SHD instance number (line 47) and also make sure that system number is not present in any shadow instance profile.
Has DVEBMGS06 got created for the not running shadow instance??? If yes then do u have any files in that directory.
NOTE : I am suggesting you only a possibility and not the solution. Please take a backup of all files before making any changes.

  • Instance number "02"

    Hi.
Why the instance number (I mean "00" of DVEBMGS00)
    "02" is reserved by SAP.
    We can't use "02".
    Anyone knows?
    Best regaerds,

    Hi,
There have been some updates since your guide was released. Here is the latest information:
The restriction has been lifted for port numbers 2, 25, 72 and 89 which means that these can now be used for the instance number.
UNIX: Instance numbers must be between 00 and 97.
Windows: Instance numbers must be between 00 and 97, but not the following ports:
    43 - used by MSCS
    60 - used by iSCSI
89 - used by Windows Terminal Server
Ports 98 and 99 are reserved for saprouter
The older restrictions were in place because port number 3302, 3325, 3372 and 3389 were used on the customer side for other purposes in the past that caused problems. Of course you still have to check which ports are used in your configuration.
This latest information is reflected in the SAP NetWeaver SR1 guides.
    Cheers,
    Mike.

  • SAP instance number

    Dear colleagues,
Could you let me know what is the range number allowed for the instance number of an ABAP system?
Can you let me know how many gateway and dispatcher processess are allowed to be configured for each instance?
    Thanks and regards
    Rod

    Hi,
Instance number consists of a two-digit number from 00 to 97. Generally 98 & 99  is used by SMD agent and CCMS agent.
Also do not use 43 & 89 if you are installing on windows and planning to use MSCS.
43 is part of MSCS & 89 is part of port number for Windows Terminal Server.

  • How can I correlate an Java instance number with a server id?

I have 6 Web App Server running ABAP and the JAVA stacks. I can log into the Central Instance server and run /usr/sap/<SID>DVEBMSG00/j2ee/configtool/configtool.sh and bring up the GUI interface to "see" all the instances and their variables. I don't see an easy way to trace back the Java INSTANCE to the physical server's hostname.
Is there a central repository to correlate a Web App Server Java instance number to the actual hostid/hostname of the target server? I realize I can log into each Web App Server and look at the /usr/sap/<SID>D00/j2ee/cluster/instance.properties and find the Instance number, but I was wondering if this information was held in the SAP Central instance or SAP Database somewhere.

    Hi Timothy,
The instance ID used for the JAVA cluster is generated at installation time, and -amongst other things- takes into account the time it was generated. We installed two instances in parallel (on different hosts) and ended up with almost the same instance ID.
Because this can be very confusing, we asked SAP if this was changable - in theory it is only an ID which could be changed as long as it is updated on all places the identifier is stored - but SAP indicated that that is not possible, nor supported. We ended up with a diagram of the system architecture with all the identifiers on our desk.
Note that in the config tool - all instances are displayed with their system instance number. If you were to install a new system it might be usefull to install all instances with different instance numbers so you and distinguish more easily between them.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,
    Walter

  • How to find port number , when there will be different instance number ?

    In case of portal url,
port number is 50000 for default instance number 00.
how to find port number , when there will be different instance number , instead of 00?
    Thanks

    Hi
You can find the port number by your instance number as follows:
There is a general format for the port number like you have mentioned.
For 00 instance the port number is 50000.
The general format for the port number goes like this:
        <b>5<instance_no>00</b>
If your <b>instance number is 01</b> then the port number would be <b>50100</b>.
It depends on the installation type which you perform.
You can also change the instance number during the installation but normally you dont do this.
If you have many components or units installed on your system you may have more than one instance in that case it may go like this 00, 01, 02....accordingly port number will be 50000, 50100, 50200...resp.
    Hope this solves your doubt.
If you need some more clarification please lemme know.

  • Order Number using Instance Number

    Hi All,
The job log for a cancelled archive write job (Sales Order Archiving) says - There is no entry for instance 000000000004589144 in either INOB or IBase.
I am trying to find out what is corresponding order number for this instance number? Any ideas on which table i should be looking at?
    Thanks
    Janani

Check transaction CUTABLEINFO and insert the instance number you have into the Instance(CUOBJ) field.  Be sure to check at the very least at the bottom of the screen the check boxes for IBINOBS and IBINOWN.
The owner of the configuration is the object that originated the instance.  An observer of the instance is simply an object that needed a copy of the characteristic values in the instance.   If any transaction can find your instance's owner, it's this one.
    Cheers.

  • How to change Instance Number of an existing 4.6C System ?

My customer has DEV and QAS systems running in separated boxes and having the same instance number of 00. Now I'm consolidating these two SIDs into a new box. So, I need to change the instance number of one of them.
I found note 127351 on how to do this but noticed that the note only applies up to release 4.0B. Not sure if it still is valid for 4.6C.
I'd appreciate your help on how to do this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Satid S.
    IBM Thailand

    Hi Satid,
if you want to move 2 systems of 2 boxes to 1 box, you have to copy at least one system anyway and therefore need to change the hostname of that system.
If you are doing this, this is a homogenious systemcopy which could be run with R3setup as described in the SAP documentation. I'm using an bit easier approach with more or less just savlib/rstlib - if you are interested, I could mail this to you.
With a homogenious systemcopy or my approach you have to "re-decide" for the instance number - so this is just no problem at all.

  • Creation of Mfg Service contract from IB Instance number

    Hi Team,
We have a requirement from client that we need to create a Mfg Service contract for a given IB Instance number. Can you please let me know, if we have any API for this?
I tried to create contract using Oks_Contracts_Pub.Create_Contract_Header API but this contract is not associated with Instance in IB.
Please help to provide any ideas on this. We are on 11.5.10 version.

Solution: You need to associate Contract with Covered line with that serial number.

  • The difference of minor number and instance number

I study how to develop device drivers. I am beginner.
I'm confusing the differece of minor number and instance number
what is the exact difference of them???

    Hi,
I guess a good example would be a disk. Each disk you have would be a different instance. To use a disk it is divided into slices, each of which has a different minor number.
Your device driver needs to map the minor number to the correct instance of the device. How you do this is completely up to you, so to start you could map them one to one.
    Hope that helps.
