I am installing EHP4 with the sap tool EHPI and is it possible to skip the phase of the shadow instance?

we have downloaded EHP4 CDs from service market place Mycompany's application
components SAP ERP Enhance package EHP4 SAP ERP 6.0 /NW7.01 oracle   D51033594_1 to D51033594_10 and untip got below Disks,
but i can not find XML file it it required XML file and if not then can i run directly SAphei installater,now our system having stack13 ECC6.
we are installating fresh direct EHP4 any prerequisite required. please clearfy asap.

EHP4 Questions

All
my client is moving to EHP4 from EHP0, initially without turning on any functionality.
Upon first entering the workbench, the system took a couple of hours to regenerate, after which I noticed the system has created new versions of the UC* status tables - however these new versions no longer contain the object CO_AREA - controlling area.
Has anybody else experienced this or know why this has happened ? I don't think it will cause issues but would be useful to understand why.
Also - is it necessary to regenerate the databasis and or the cons area after upgrading to EHP4. Given we are not turning on any functionality then I don't think it is needed - but would like a second opinion.

HI,
After any upgrade it is important to save the data basis with out errors and warnings even if you are not making any changes or activating functionality.
This would be done in development system and transported to Q & P.
When you normally execute any activity (Scheduling any background job or going to LOTR ) system would verify\refers for the time stamp of the data model. if its a old dated data model it would attempt to re-generate and proceed which would create delay in system response. This will surely get performance errors. Few short dumps.
As I understand there wont be any issues if you save or regenerate data basis.

EHP4 upgrade question - ABAP Stack and EA-HR

Hi Experts,
My ABAP stack in the ECC system is at 7.01 SP3.
My EA-HR module is at 600 SP38.
We want to upgrade EA-HR to 604 (EHP4) so that we can benefit from some of the MSS functionality but the question is, what ABAP stack level do I need to be on? Is my current version ok or do I need to upgrade?
Can anyone shed light for me on this matter?

Questions on EHP4 upgrade

Hi friends,
I have just completed an EHP4 upgrade on ERP 6.0 system
Environment is Win 2008 and DB2 9.1
1. Just before the downtime started, ehpi inst came up with a screen which informs to
a. backup installation directory and take a database backup @ this point
To restart installation from this point --> restore database and program directory
At this point, I can either enter downtime or go productive again, reverting back the changes
Next line says --> If you restored the system to this point from the backup, you can also chose to go productive again. You can enter downtime later
What does this line mean, i just cant comprehend it in this scenario
2. During upgrade, manual actions require creation of the below 4 tablespaces with different initial sizes
SID#EL701DX
SID#EL701IX
SID#ES701DX
SID#ES701IX
Now that i upgrade is complete, is it SAFE to delete these freespaces, which i understand were used by shadow system
if yes, then why doesnt the EHPi installer delete it itself as part of post processing

It means that if you had a problem and you restored the system, then you can go back to production or continue with the upgrade.
Does it mean, going productive will mean all the steps till preprocessing will be of no use, unless i restore backup and inst directory, which will then lose out on all productive changes after backup(taken earlier)
- they are still needed (those tablespaces contain the Netweaver basis 7.01)
- EHPI never deletes tablespaces on his own. Doing that task is part of the post processing (read the upgrade guide).
As per the guide, i need to run the command
my kernel release before and after upgrade is 701
i substituted REL to 701 in below command
select tbspace from syscat.tablespaces TS where TS.tbspace like '%E%701%' and not exists ( select 1 from syscat.tables where tbspace = TS.tbspace or index_tbspace = TS.tbspace or long_tbspace = TS.tbspace )

Should i delete these tablespaces, these tablespaces were available earlier, the new ones created during upgrade had a suffix X to all these tablespaces

EHP4 Support Packages installation question

I am running EHP4 SP03 and want to upgrade to Stack 04. Do I still use EHPI? The documentation states to use this tool but I thought EHPI was used for upgrade of EHP4....
What is the difference then and what happens during a repository swtich which seems like overkill over something as simple as a SPAM transaction?
All documentation point to using EHPI ut also states you can use SPAM/SAINT? So what gives?

Hi,
In order to upgrade from EHP4 SP03 to EHP4 SP04, you can use SPAM to upgrade. You need not to use EHPI installer again.
Only thing you need is stack xml file which you can again download from MOPZ in solman.

Question about Implement EHP4...

I went to the following path -
service.sap.com/swdc and choose "My Companys Application Components" -
SAP ERP SAP ERP ENHANCE PACKAGE -
EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01.
What is the meaning of "ERP 6.0 / NW7.01"?
Does it mean that NW 7.01 can go straight to EHP4.
I am getting confused with EHP2 for NW 7.00, which is the most current fro NW 7.00.
This EHP4 is strictely for ERP only. Correct?
Please clarify.

EHP4 for ERP contains EHP1 for Netweaver (701) and is based on that.
EHP5 for ERP contains EHP2 for Netweaver (702) and is based on that.
Those dependencies are fixed.
You can, however, install EHPs on Netweaver systems alone but not on ERP systems.

SAP ERP ECC6.0 SR3 EHP4 IDES Installation Questions

I have downloaded some IDES SR3 EHP4 installation files from SWDC.
I installed Windows 2003 Server 64 bit, Oracle 10.2.0.4 and Java 1.4 on VMWare.
Now I don't know how to proceed from here because I have some doubt.
1. What Dics Number should I download? Currently I have downloaded 50096277, 51031678, 51036767 UC and Non UC, 51036905, 51036971, 51036972, 51037093, 51037095, 51037622, 51037623.
2. I've seen some post saying ABAP + Java stack cannot be installed in the same SID. If I installed using different SID will it incur additional hard disk space? What need to be done to install both stack in the same machine with different SID?
3. Can anyone provide me a brief installation guide if he successfully installed IDES EHP4 before?

Please check that you would need the following disk for the installation.
Installation master DVD, Export DVD for the IDES,Oracle client ,Kernel DVD, database for oracle DVD(RDBMS) and you shall need the Java software component DVD for the installation.

I think you will have to go with the Mcod installation and the SID fo both ABAP and JAVA should be different .
3. Can anyone provide me a brief installation guide if he successfully installed IDES EHP4 before?
Go to service market place and you shall find the installation guide for the perticular os and the Db for which you are going for the installation.

ERecruitment (EHP4) distributed scenario - Questions status changes

I am creating questions in draft mode and then changing back the status to released after it is complete.
I then want to create the questionnaires and use them in the process template.
Issue:
Even though I can change the status of the questions from "Draft" to "Released", when I close the "Create Questions screen and come back, the status automatically reverts back to "Draft".
Periodic Services are running every 5 minutes.
Due to the issue with the status change, I cannot create a questionnaire and release them to be used elsewhere.
Any thoughts on where else to look?

I could reproduce this error in one of the sandboxes I can access.
The reason for this system behavouir seems to be an inconsistency in configuration of SES search. When you save the questionaire in status released the UI shows a success message but you should find an error message in TCode SLG1 like:
- Exit WRITE_CPOINTER_SES of exit area AT does not exist or
- Enhancement'Write Change Pointer for SES Search (in COM_SE_CPO' (area 'Follow-Up Processing (Background)') is not assigned to category 'Evaluable Information'
The error is not shown in the UI as someone put the following code in there:
METHOD save_quesnr_status.
TRY.
      CALL METHOD cl_hrrcf_qa_bl=>change_template_status
        EXPORTING
          p_template_id = is_quesnr_object-objid
          p_new_status = iv_status_new.
    CATCH cx_root.
ENDTRY.

On a system wehre I did the SES config myself questionaires can be released correctly. Please apply the sap note 1098046 step by step (esp. number 2 and 3 are important for this special issue, including the note mentioned there). After doing this on the sandbox releasing questionaires works fine.

I am currently executing the EHP4 Upgrade for SAP ERP 6.0 with Oracle.
After doing so I need to execute several oracle specific actions
Can some one give me technical documentation for the following actions:
1) Delete all empty Tablespaces
Question: How (SQL commando) can I identify which of my tablespaces are empty?
2) Tablespace "PSAPSR3700" should be released/deallocated
Question: what does it mean?
3) Load generation ???

You can check that using brtools.

The sources are in PSAPSR3701 with EHP4 so that old tablespace is no more needed.

Team calibration in flexible PMS EHP4

Hi PMS Gurus, Need your expert advise. We are implementing flexible PMS on EHP4 . Team calibration is a standard feature of Predefined PMS (EHP4 onwards). Due to heavy customization we are not implementing Predefined PMS but going for Flexible PMS. Our client has specifically asked for Team calibration feature. Now can we import Team calibration feature from Predefined PMS for flexible solution. Or is there any other workaround for building this feature. Or do we have to custom develop Team Calibration feature. Regards Tarun

All these years, we have been going with custom development for this forced distribution bell curve functionality. and now when SAP comes up with the Team calibration functionality, it limits to only Predefined templates. Wonder why SAP releases such nice functionalities in bits and pieces..
Let me know how you went ahead with developing this functionality; whether you developed an entirely custom application or were you able to reuse the existing Team calibration webdynpro?

Upgrading R / 3 4.7 system to ECC6.0 with EHP4 along with windows 2008

Hi All,
I am looking for your feedback about the plan for upgrading our Landscape to ECC 6. with EHP4 from R/34.7E.
Current Environment: R/3 4.7X110 with SQL 2000 in 32 bit windows 2003
Planning to upgrade to the level of : ECC6.0 with EHP4 64 bit windows 2008, SQL 2005 Database
Based on the previous experience in upgrade I have planned in the following ways.
Since my basis component is in the level of 63, its possible for me to restore the SQL 2000 database in SQL 2005 (Using System copy tool )
Step 1: Migration of OS / DB using system copy tool (R/3 4.7 with SQL 2005 in 64 bit Windows 2003 ), Then will leave the system for testing for some period and after the confirmation, planned to start the upgrade
Step 2: By meeting all the prerequisites, Planned to upgrade to ECC6.0 with EHP4 on the OS / DB upgraded system.
Step 3: Once the upgrade completed / With the confirmation from the functional and technical consultants, I planned to upgrade the windows 2003 to windows 2008 using system copy tool.
Note: I am not using SQL 2008 - Project decision.
The above mentioned plan is the only way(proper way) for doing such activities or is there any other way to shorten the project.
I should not ask the below question (Even after reading PAM and SAP note 1054740), But kindly regret me for asking this one, out of own curiosity, i am asking the below one.
1. Is there any possible to install SAP R / 3 4.7 in windows 2008 with 2005 (This will help me to shorten the project). I am completely aware that SAP wont support R/3 4.7 with windows 2008, if its not at all possible is there any other work around for me to shorten? Let me know your suggestions and thoughts
Your valuable inputs will help me to proceed further with the plans (I surfed the SDN and read master guides already) . I really want to make sure , the way which i am going is the right one.

I have successfully completed the project for my landscape and it was a great success too.
As you all said, since I had the hardware availability and time frame as well. Hence, I have tried both the possibilities.
Note :I would prefer and stick with the SAP proposed and supported way and even for my project I have followed the same. So I would recommend to stick with SAP supported one.
But for the own technical interest I have tried the other option as well which is not supported by SAP and also faced some typical issues as well / but solved on my own with some tricks and other activities. So, this option is also possible but highly risked one and of course(more importantly) which is not supported by SAP. So, i would recommend to go with the SAP recommended way.

EHP4 upgrade query

Dear All,
We are planning to upgrade our PRD server. We are upgrading from ECC 6.0 to EHP4 in dual stack (ABAP+JAVA).
We are running cluster in Active Passive mode.
DB + ASCS + APP server on node 1 and node 2 is for fail-over switch and one DI instance on node 2.
We will disable clustering before the downtime phase.
I am having the below queries.
1.We are running ERS03 for abap and ERS 04 for java on node2.
As per SAP Note 1012486 we should disable ERS before downtime phase.
Please advice we have to only stop the instance ERS03 and ERS04 .As in cluster it is not configured.
If we are running startsap command on node 2 it is starting ERS03 ,ERS04 and DI instance.
Please advice how we can disable it

If you have manually set up a standalone enqueue, you should
revert this configuration prior to the execution of the
downtime phases of the upgrade, latest prior to kernel switch
phase. The upgrade tool is unable to detect a manual set up of
standalone enqueue servers and, therefore, cannot update them.
This might cause problems when the system is started for the
first time after the kernel switch. This only applies to
standalone enqueue servers (separately started enserver
process), NOT to officially supported (A)SCS instances.
2.As we are running ABAP+JAVA stack.
As i checked in SDN.. somone suggested the below method to overcome profile issue's.
Please help to understand this.
If you have a SAP level clustering you will face issues while patching your JAVA instance as in profile directory JSPM/EHPi scans for the available profiles and the patches accordingly however when two profiles are found it runs itno conflicts and does not allow you to proceed further - To solve this problem as a workaround you need to move the other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into other directory asay /usr and once your EHPi installation is over move back other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into cdpro directory.
3.ASCS will be required to be stopped manually.Will SAP prompt to stop or i need to do it before downtime phase.

I hope I've understand your questions right...
1)
I think you're right - to stop ERS03 + ERS04 but here you should contact the sap support - to make sure that this is not a big mistake.
2)
You should ensure, that only one profil should be available for the installer - so the installer searches for profiles and your mirror/clusterd systems have several [ more than one ] profiles.
So you should "move the other/mirror/clustered systems profiles into other directory asay /usr " - you have to move your profiles in a temporary directory [ tmp\ ] - so the installer didn't recognise them.
After your EhP installation you have to move the profiles back to the source directory.
3)
The installer will prompt you - but downtime means that your colleagues are not able to work ...
=>sure at all its a good think to make a reboot of the whole server - so you will see that there is everthing fine - profiles, executables etc.
By the way - if it is your first EhP installation you should have one test-system - only for ehp.

SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 upgrade from SAP R/3 4.7 1.10

Our client is going to upgrade current landscape SAP R/3 4.7 1.10 to ERP 6.0 EHP4. The Source system O/s is AIX 5.3 and database is db2 8.1. Client procuring new hardware for the target release ERP 6.0 landscape and the O/s is going to be AIX 7.1 and databse would be db2 9.7 FP3.
As part of the upgrade we are going to do initial upgrade in the mock server and vendor is going to provide mock server with AIX 7.1 O/S. Current database size is 100GB, hence we are going to copy the production server data into the mock server using export and import method,
Here my doubt is can i install db9.7 directly and do the import (using compitable kernel)?, insteady of installing source database version 8.1 and later upgrading to db2 9.7 . Please clarify me whether can i go head and install the db2 9.7 and do the system copy using R3load.

You can go ahead for IMPORT with DB 9.7.
We completed an OS/DB Migration Project (which involves system copy using EXPORT/IMPORT) and we utilized direct newer version of DB2 on the target during IMPORT.
But please confirm whether the kernel of your release would work fine with DB 9.7 or not. Otherwise, there is no problem in going for higher version of DB2 here.
Small question - Why you want to test the Mock Upgrade on DB2 version which is different than the current version on production server ? Or are you planning to upgrade your current DB2 8 to DB2 9.7 BEFORE the SAP Upgrade on all the servers - then the testing is OK I think (however OS is still the different - Or may be you will go for system copies for this too !)

Upgrade of Sourcesystem SAP EHP3 SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP EHP4 SAP ECC 6.0

I noticed there is a lot of questions on the testing procedures for BI side when Upgrading the source system from R/3 to ECC 6.0. But noticed there aren't many posts on when doing Ehancement Packs. But I believe the process would be more or less the same?
My project is doing an Upgrade of SAP EHP3 SAP ECC 6.0 Stack03 to SAP EHP4 SAP ECC 6.0 Stack07. BI Side is also upgraded, but I am more interested in the impact of the Upgrade's Source System (ECC) on BI.
I believe the amount of impact is less as compared to an upgrade from R/3 to ECC, but there still should be impact to BI somehow.
Basically, from what I have researched, there correct procedure is as below:
Pre-Upgrade
1 - Lock users in ECC
2 - ensure that the Delta queue is cleared in RSA7
3 - check the PI in ECC6.0 ( What is PI???)
3 - stop all loads from BW
Post-upgrade
1 - Check Source System connections
2 - replicate all data sources in ECC (when I do a check connection in RSA1 I get the message "No metadata upload since upgrade" which I believe is due to this step not done yet? Is it ok to replicate all datasources??)
3 - activate all rules thru program (RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL. Is it ok to activate all transfer strucs?)
4 - run Init w/o Data Transfer for deltas

Additional information:
I start the upgrade from SAP ECC 6.0 with a dual stack.
SAP advised me to download the following file to start the upgrade
SAPehpi_68-10005800.SAR from the SMP
Download path: Browse our Download Catalog--> Additional Components --> Upgrade tools --> SAP EHPI Installer --> SAP EHP Installer 7.00.
Start the upgrade without the jce_policy_zip extension. This was written in note 1302772 .
Have more luck with it.
