EIGRP with over 1000 neighbors using Metro Ethernet

No documentation about using EIGRP with what kind router can build a large network using Metro Ethernet. Cisco7600 become unstable unstable after applying over 600 eigrp neighbors.

Is there a reason you need EIGRP? If you're scaling to 1000 neighbors you should really use BGP. It's meant to be scalabale (I have routers that have 150,000 BGP routes in it). It's really designed for scalability, where as I find EIGRP is preferable in a low-neighbor routing environment.

  • How to find routers with multiple bgp neighbors using baseline templates?

Running LMS 4.1 5k on Windows
We have around 400 routers on a MPLS network. Only few of these have more than one BGP neighbor. We need to enable some bgp traps so we know when a bgp neighbor is down. How would I write a baseline template to check if a router has more than one bgp neighbor?
basically I want to know if a router has more than one statement of the following kind:
    router bgp xxxxx
    neighbor x.x.x.x remote-as xxxxx   <-- 1st neighbor
    neighbor y.y.y.y remote-as yyyyy    <-- 2nd neighbor

Yes, it looks like the bug I mentioned previously.  The bug has nothing to do with RME.  You can use RME or not, and this bug will still be triggered.  While an upgrade is recommended, the Release notes detail a workaround:
The 1711 router gives traceback when we process an snmpwalk at OID
    "cInetIcmpMsgOutPkts" (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.86.1.3.2.1.6) from CISCO-IETF-IP-MIB or
    when ciscoDslCpeMIB is queried (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.20.1.1).
    12.2(15) works well
12.3(8)T4 and 12.0(3)T are giving this problem.
Didn4t find a similar problem reported to this one.
    Workaround:
The problem lies in CISCO-DSL-CPE-MIB, so if you don't need this mib you can
exclude it from the default or created snmp view, thereby preventing the
traceback. Here is an example of 1) changing default view and 2) creating a new
    view.
-- change the default snmp view to exclude CISCO-DSL-CPE-MIB
    conf term
    snmp-server view v1default ciscoDslCpeMIB excluded

  • How to improve performance on SD document with over 1000 line items

    Dear experts,
A lot of our SD document contains 1500 to 5000 line items. Saving a simple change of one line item description would take 5 minutes (with or without pricing considerations). We are on ECC 5.0. Does anyone know of an existing snote or ways that would help to improve performance?
A related question on performance tracing. I have done some tracing and notice that the time to access SQL/buffer/enqueue/RFC only amount to less than 50% (sometimes 5%) of the total processing time. What has the system been doing for the "unrecorded" time?
    Thank you and appreciate!
    -cynthia

I would check which modules or which parts of code take the most of the processing time. You can use SE30 to check one order save.
If it's not SQL - then it may be internal processing like inefficient loops and so on.  For example runtime of nested loops with big tables have grows exponentially.
It may be caused by SAP code - search OSS notes for based on the module names which consume most time.
OR it can be caused by the code in your userexits - then developers have to fix it and redesign using more efficient technique.

  • Traffic Shaping on 6880 between sites over metro ethernet

    Hi
I have a new dual site setup with 6880s at the core at one side and 3650 stack at the other. We have a 200mbps ethernet solution from our service provider but on testing we are maxing at a bit over 100mbps, iperf tests directly on the link are giving 200mbps so I need to apply some shaping to get the full usage from the link. In the past I have used srr bandwidth on metro switches but the 6880s don't support this. So I assume I need to setup  policy maps and apply to the physical interface? The interfaces are layer 2 trunks and we are stretching vlans between the sites. E.g. siteA has vlan20 and site B has vlan 20 over the metro ethernet service, site b is layer2 only and all routing and services are provided at siteA
Is it as simple as this? It seems too easy :) So I may be missing something. I just apply this on the physical interface at each side?
    policy-map POLICY-S2S-200MB
    class class-default
    shape average 204800000
    policy-map POLICY-S2S-200MB-IN
     class class-default
       police cir 204800000
         conform-action transmit
         exceed-action drop
    ~
    int gi1/1/1
    service-policy out POLICY-S2S-200MB-OUT out
    service-policy out POLICY-S2S-200MB-IN in
Your input would due treaty appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Aidan.

Ah, well that's great!  (Hmm, now I wonder if same feature is available on 6500 with sup2T or 6807.)
In that case, your output policy might be just as simple as what's in your OP.  Cisco isn't really clear whether all their shapers (or policers) are counting L2 and L3 or just L3. I suspect many just count L3. If that's true in this case, you may need to shape about 10 to 15% slower to allow for L2 overhead (this assuming your provider is providing 200 Mbps of "wire" bandwidth.
If you're able to shape on the other side, then there should be no need to also police the ingress.  Also, assuming provider limits bandwidth, there's no reason to police ingress at CIR rate.

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

  • Using an Ethernet Adapter for Internet with my Emac - getting IP problems

Hi, I used this Ethernet Adapter just fine with my laptop, and now have everything migrated to an EMac. Using 10.4.11, so everything is the same. But I get strange drops (Gmail even told me I had a 'flaky' internet connection) and have to launch Network and am usually told (under Network Status):
Ethernet Adapter (enl) has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet.
I can sometimes get it working by hitting the Renew DHCP lease or Configure IPv6 and Apply Now. Sometimes that doesn't work, but if I switch to another User it starts working correctly, and is fine when I return to my preferred user. Sometimes nothing works until I restart. It's frustrating, because it is time consuming to fix and I never know when I am going to be dropped. This never happened with my laptop, so I am pretty sure it's something in my Network pane.
Thanks, ahead of time, for any suggestions.
    Any suggestions?

I did reinstall the software, but your question got me to thinking ...
I had the problem again after I turned off the computer for an hour, to do some RL stuff, and when I turned it on I got the "self-assigned" IP report again. The IP6 was off, so that wasn't the only issue. I did a renew lease thing, which did nothing on my usual User side, but when I switched to the other User it worked again.
So I'm wondering ... the User side I am mostly using was the one that migrated over from the Laptop. The one that tends to turn it on is the one that had a User installed on it already. Maybe some setting migrated from the Laptop. Perhaps I should try deleting the software, and reintalling it from the CD. It seems to be affecting the IP selection, somehow.
The other thing is maybe I should just put in a manual setting on the IP, the one the dongle seems to like. I'm wondering if IPs are being reassigned by the router in the main house and that's why mine goes bonkers for no reason. Only thing is ... that never happened when it was just on the laptop.
Hey, thanks, Kappy, for all your help. I know it's tough when you can't see exactly what I'm talking about.

  • Metro Ethernet Design With Redundant Head Ends

We're getting ready to turn up some metro ethernet circuits that were just installed by AT&T. AT&T has provided a VLAN for each remote site (so each site has its own VLAN), and those VLANs are trunked to our head end switches (Cisco 3750 Metro Switches).
I'm struggling with the best design for IP routing. We currently use OSPF on our internal network, and I was going to extend OSPF to our metro solution as well, but I'm not so sure now.
I don't want routing to occur directly between head end #1 and head end #2, we already have redundant paths within our corporate network, and allowing our two head ends to route between each other via our metro ethernet solution is not what we want. However, running OSPF on each of the VLANs which have been provisioned for us would permit routing between the head ends.
We simply need to allow redundanny for our remote locations in the event that one head end were to fail, all of the traffic to/from the remote site would be routed through the head end which is still online.
Anyone suggestions on the best routing design for this situation would be greatly appreciated. I've attached a network diagram to make things clear. I believe I can also go back to AT&T and request one VLAN that includes all sites if that would simply things. I just need to make sure I can still do our traffic shaping because the remote sites are only 10mbps and the head ends are 1gbps.
    Thanks,
    -Steve

just at a glance it looks as if you should be able to have stp on and setup 1 site as primary and other as secondary

  • Metro Ethernet over Docsis

    Hello Gurus,
I would like to know a bit more about this tecnologie (Metro Ethernet over Docsis).
I work for a cable companie and we would like to know the implicationd of implementing such a technologie.
If we go for a CPE based aproach we only have to configure a CPE like the Cisco 1805 in each costumer end-point?
Which configurations does the CMTS and backbone require?
What are the maximum speed we can offer with this technologie running on HFC?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Building metro ethernet using cat3750

    Hi,
I am Mazlan and work for one of ISP in Malaysia. We would like to discover metro ethernet technologies.
We would like to use our current backbone network to create this metro network and we are planning to use cat3750.
The design is something like this.
    R1--cat3750--RA--[WAN}--RB--cat3750--R2
R1 and R2 is in different location but will be running on same VLAN (with help of cat3750). Let say there is customer connected to R1 and their branch at R2, they will only feel they are in same LAN, but actly they are in different location.
We need some opinion of builidng this network. I need help for the configuration in cat3750 as well in the router. We have no experince in this technologies.
Perhaps somebody whos is interested to help me out can email me at [email protected]
    Your help is highly appriciated.

  • How to configure use of Ethernet and wireless simultaneously, with different Windows´s?

    Hello friends,
My network has two Win XP-laptops connected via ethernet to a Dovado-router, and from the Dovado-router another ethernet cable to a Win 7 PC.
The Win 7 PC connects to the internet via a D-Link wireless network to my ISP wireless router Huawei E589.
Problem: the PC refuses to work with both ethernet and wireless at the same time.
I use the ethernet for tranferring vast amounts of graphical data (astronomy photographs at 3-4 GB each), and I can only access the internet through the wireless. Neither XP nor 7 wizards are able to fix it. Both networks were visable in Network Center,
now only the wireless is available. Ethernet is gone.
What do I do, to make it work?

    Hi,
What's your purpose? My understanding is that you want Windows 7 PC wireless use internet and wired use Lan. If I am misunderstand please point me fault.
For the situation you can do like this:
    1) Setting for your both routers.
Make sure both routers have different Router IP's and SUBNETS, you should try to set the subnet of Dovado-router to 255.255.255.252(this router should be used as local Lan, not connect to internet).
Set the subnet of D-link to 255.255.255.0
    2) Setting For the LAN adapter.
Under the TCP/IP properties(Lan adapter),  please assign a unique IP address (which coincides with the subnet of Dovado-router ), set the subnet to 255.255.255.252 (or whatever you set it to Dovado-router). The very important things is that
don't assign any GATEWAY to Lan adapter, leave it blank.
    3) Setting For the WIRELESS adapter.
Under TCP/IP properties(wireless adapter), please assign a unique IP address (that coincides with the wireless router), set the subnet to 255.255.255.0 (or whatever the default is for the wireless router), and make sure to type gateway IP address ( D-link
    IP address).
Now you can test if they are work normally.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • Can I use the Ethernet Port for a computer when it is also used as a wireless network with an Airport Extreme as the access point for the wireless network

Can I use the Ethernet Port  of the A1264 Airport Express to connect to the Ethernet port of a computer that does not have wireless capability when the Airport Express is also used on a wireless network with an Airport Extreme 5th generation as the access point for the network?
    I have AE 5th gen
looking to buy (from ebay) the AEX A1264
Various computers, printers and hubs for the network
    Is this possible to do?

Bob, Thanks for the info. I have read different articles that said yes, but I wanted to make sure before I commit to buy. I have an older A1084 which I could not use the Ethernet port. I know at one point I was able to when I was on 10.4. Now that I am on an Intel processor and 10.8 I am going to have to upgrade some of my Apple wireless hardware.
    Thanks Again.

Is anyone using iPhoto having a problem with the slide show using shatter where it does not let you put a title over photo? It use to work but it no longer lets you place a title over the opening photo.

Is your signature still current?(iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4))    I can confirm this for iPhoto '11; Shatter will only show the text slide title between the slides. Ken Burns and Classic theme can still be set to overlay the caption and title directly over the slides.

  • Migration assistant taking over 100 hours using ethernet?

Yesterday i got a new 2013 iMac starting 27 inch and wanted to move files from my old 2007 starting 20 inch imac. So when I used migration assistant, i decided not to port over the user from the old imac. Since it did not port over itunes music, iphoto etc., i ran it again this time porting over the user from the old imac. But now it says it will take 100 hours+ to complete. I don't wanna wait 4 days fro this to finish. Is there any way to do this faster? I have about 225 gbs to transfer and i am using an ethernet cable. I am not sure if it is gigabit or not as it has been lying around for awile. I also turned off wifi as it may interfere.

Gigabit is 10 times faster than 10/100 (the next one down), it makes a big difference. I would check.

    Regards,

A possible reason for this is the requirement for something in the 'Path' field such as public_html - some ISPs don't use this, some do, or something different. This is a folder in your server space, and its contents represent the published webspace, so if you don't have the path when it's required you are publishing to a level on the server one above what outsiders can read. This is something you'd have to check with Easyspace.
