EIS 9.3.1 Software
Hi All -
Can you please provide me the link to download EIS server/client 9.3.1 version? I just want to test some drill through reports for my company and if it works as expected, we may buy the licenses.
Thanks in advance!!
OK, Here is what I see in edelivery ... I already have essbase 9.3.1 server installed in windows 2008 64 bit, and am expecting EIS 9.3.1 should be installed there too ...
I downloaded "Download Hyperion Essbase - System 9 Release 9.3.1.3 64-bit Client Windows Opteron/Xeon Installer (for both XP and 2003) V14765-01 47M " for EIS 9.3.1 but it comes with Essbase too. How do I just get EIS 9.3.1 only from the below list? Thanks!

EIS Installation and Configuration
Hi Everybody,
I am trying to install EIS 9.31 on my laptop (i.e Win2k3 Server), I have successfully installed Essbase and EIS
But I have no idea how to configure(Creating DSN Catalog) in EIS.
I am using Oracle 10g. Can any one please help me on thsi installation.
Already I gone through the installation document but I didn't understand how to configure.
If anyone having installation and Configuring Screen shots please send me to my mail
Mail Id: [email protected]
This is very urgent I need to give presentation on the EIS
Thanks in Advance for your help
Awaiting for your quick ResponseI'm not sure what version of software you are looking to install, but for 9.3.1, we just installed our application server (Weblogic), installed Shared Services, supplied the database info and we were good to go. I do believe; however, your mileage will vary depending on the application server you use as some of them have an option for 'automatic' installation and some are manual. (I went the 'automatic' route) You will need to refer to the installation documentation for all of the relevant details, though.

First let me say that I am new to labview, please bear with me. I want to use Labview to querry a iDRX thermocouple signal conditioner using tcp/ip. The signal conditioner is wired to a EIS-2B server. The server is at 198.162.10.53 and port 2000. The data request command is *10x01\r and the expected data to be returned is 01X01+00064.6 (or whatever the actual temperature is). The conditioner and server are working and testing correctly using the iDRX supplied software.
My attached vi runs, creates no errors, but returns no data either. I can find many examples of how to set up a listener, but I need to QUERRY and then RECEIVE the data.
Thanks in advance.

Alyeska 4.vi 15 KBHi Alyeska! Welcome to the forums!
I took a quick look at the VI, and I have four quick suggestions for
you that may give us some information about what is happening.
You may be experiencing an error that just isn't detected by the VI -
normally we add an error handling VI at the end of program execution to
report any errors that occurred. Also, it's helpful to have a way
to exit the while loop so that the program can finish executing if an
error occurs. Third, you may need to introduce a delay between
the query and the read command to allow the server time to process and
respond to the request. Lastly, if you already know how long the
return message will be, you should wire this length to the Bytes to
Read input of the TCP Read VI so it knows to return the data once it
receives that number of bytes. I've attached a modified version
of the VI incorporating these - give this a try, and let us know if you
still see an error, and if so, what error. Also, if you haven't
taken a look at it already, there are excellent resources for learning
LabVIEW at the LabVIEW Fundamentals page - it's a great way to introduce yourself to LabVIEW and get up to speed quickly.

Unable to create OLAP Metadata catalog in EIS
We are planning on creating new Essbase apps using EIS to create and load from our relational data warehouse databases. Have worked with Essbase for many years, but never EIS. We are currently on 9.3.3 for all Hyperion apps. I successfully installed the Integration Services Server on our test environment (Windows) and verified that the service is running. Also installed the Integration Services Console on my PC. We created the Metadata catalog database/tablespace on our MS SQL Server (2008). Using the ODBC Data Source Administrator on the EIS server, I created a new ODBC data source for this database following the instructions in the EIS install guide and used the “SQL Server” driver as specified. I was able to get a successful test connection within the Data Source Administrator and successfully saved the Data Source. However, when I first use the Integration Services console and first try to create the Metadata catalog, I get the following error: ODBC Error [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified. I enter the correct EIS server name, but have to manually type in the Catalog ODBC DSN name as the one I created doesn’t show up in the drop down. I also verified that the correct administrator userid and password are used. What could I be missing or doing wrong? Thanks. Mike
Yes, I am using the Essbase server name. The only other thing I can think of is the driver version. I just used the one called "SQL Server" which is what the install guide said. However, this is the 9.3.1 guide, so may be outdated info for 9.3.3. I did not use the DataDirect 6.0 drivers that were installed when I installed the Integration Services software on the server. Is it possible I need to download Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client 10.0 and install that on the server? That is the other thing. There currently is no SQL client software installed on the EIS server. Could that be the problem? Thanks

Software architecture to utilize XML DB
Hi,
We're using currently using Toplink 9.0.4 with an Oracle 9i DB.
I'm interested to find out what level of support there is in Toplink for the "new" XML DB features (in the Oracle 10g database for example).
The material I've seen so far on the Toplink developer preview suggests that Toplink will manage mappings from an object model to a XML representation.....but that XML representation is purely an "in-memory" - i.e. it does not generate the "SQL" to store objects in an XML DB.
There seems to be a gap in the way XML data is managed and the way Java domain models (and persistence ) are typically architected.
The way we craft our services at the moment is based upon Java objects which encapsulate a request. Changing the contents of a request (e.g. adding a new attribute), breaks existing implementations that utilize that service (because of Java's serialization model).
I'd like to define a service which takes a lump of metadata (passed as a generic object model, e.g. XML), but also allows that metadata to be evolving/variable/dynamic . The initial service implementation would look up a Java business object based upon the request information...include any transaction "attributes" from the request and persist it. Nothing new there, but what if I want to allow clients to attach "custom attributes" to their requests. The traditional model of request --> Java Business Object --> relational database seems to break down. Java Business Objects aren't typically very good at handling dynamic addition of properties.
Does there exist a software architecture that allows for Java Business Object "properties" to be dynamically attached and persisted.
It seems that the big push on XML is heading towards that goal....but at the moment I can't see how the pieces would actually fit together ......
Apologies that my ramblings are a bit wild!
Regards
MikeTopLink 10.1.3 added XML support in three ways.
- Object-XML mapping - Support was added to be able to map Java object to XML documents. This allows for in-memory two-way conversion between object and XML, and usage with XML messaging and web services.
- Oracle XDB XML Type - Support was added to store a plain XML attribute of a Java object mapped in relational TopLink to an Oracle XDB XML type field.
- EIS - Support was added to allow mapping Java objects to XML records and Interactions in a non-relational EIS system through a JCA adapter that supports XML records.
From the sounds of things you may wish to:
Use TopLink OX to map your XML messages to your Java object model. For the dynamic XML content you could use a Transformation mapping in TopLink OX to store this dynamic content in a plain XML field in the object. You could then use Oracle XDB and the TopLink XMLType mapping to store this dynamic XML content in an XMLType field in the database. -
Forgotten Password to "Unlock Design Mode" in EIS - BrioQuery 6.5.2

Hi Blake,
In another page (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1056583), Adobe states that it will be possible to download 4.6 in alternative to 4.7, to still have the Design View. However, I have not seen such possibility yet.
I will not say that "real programmers don't use design mode". They do, if it works fine.
However, the Design View was not very useful for mobile projects, if you wanted to create an interface which, at run time, adapts to different screen estates.
It was very good to draw an initial mock-up, but only the simulator (and the device) can say how the app really looks like (if you want to know more, please have a look here: http://aliencoding.com/2013/02/22/adobe-flash-builder-4-7-has-no-design-view-is-it-blasphe my-no-but-the-software-contains-some-other-blasphemous-aspects/).
If you develop for desktop, then I agree the Design View lack is a real drag. I think Adobe should at least lower the price of the program, now that it's been scaled down for (I think) copyright issues (the Design mode relies on Flash professional components that was not donated to Apache).
I love this platform because it really saved my butt in cases of real fast devployment, BUT NOW it lacks support for Windows 8 that PhoneGap has...
Can we say... it is a legacy framework by now? -
Lenovo G550 EISA partition problem
Hello,
I have Lenovo G550 whit Windows Vista Home Basic(bay it whit this OS and whithuot Recovery CD).
By mistake i delete eisa partition when installing MacOSx.After that I restore all files from EISA partition to my other partition.
So my question is -can i somehow recreate this partition to be able recover my original windows and software and
be able to use again this button near to the power buton .
thaks
p.s : sorry for my english !there are about 113 backup wsi file, the one with number 34 seems damaged. for factory backups there's another issue with it. did you make any changes on volumes? cause if you did, one key recover and one key recover button will stop working.
in normal circumstances, eisa part is not visible. i'm not sure if it works if you copy files to usb.
if windows vista installed, run one-key recover 6.0.
already got backups, skip "back up" otherwise click that.
select full backup, quick compression and next >
choose the path or leave it default and next >
and start.
after back up ends, restart the application one-key recover 6.0
click "create recovery disc" and next >
select the backup you have and next>
this screen will tell you how much cd or dvd you need, min 2 dvd or 8cd, max 7 dvd or 28 cd. and next>
insert the blank cds or dvds into driver and wait until done.
you may need the system image, you can lose your back-up cd, or cds may not working after a while, so , i still recommend that you keep the original copy or more than one backup.
size of recovery cd depens on how much size of disk space you use. its up 2-7 dvd or 4-28 cd. -
Inserting the Brio Query Data into EIS OLAP Model tables directly
Dear Experts,
Can someone please suggest how we can export data (result set records) from bqy files' queries into an EIS server's OLAP Model's tables?
Right now I have a cube on Essbase server getting the data from excel sheets which store the data from the execution of .bqy files.
Use of file system (excel sheets) has not been liked by my business users so now I need to avoid storing the data from brio queries into excel sheets for loading into the Essbase cube. This I am required to achieve using EIS/AIS so that the data from brio queries(.bqy files) can be directly inserted into Essbase cube with the help of (i.e. via) EIS/AIS.
Any quick help would boost the life of this project of mine.
Thank you,

EIS 6.5 Service Crashes
We have installed EIS 6.5 on 3 servers all running Win2000 Advanced server under an account with admin rights. All 3 servers are experiencing EIS service crashes at very sporadic times but it is on every server. Support has not found an answer yet, does anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening or an example installation that works on a nightly basis using EIS scripts.Logs just quit, there is an error in the event log but the registry key it references is null. Threads are set to processors x 8 and we have not tried to tweak the -C setting for commit. Thanks in Advance!Scott
THere is a utility in this sites Software library link that I have used to setup the old HIS (pre-cursor to EIS) as a service. You might want to explore that option. Not sure if it will work with EIS though.

Need help, What to do when EIS unavailable?
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to implement the following behaviour? :
I am doing a WLI project which requires integration of sap and siebel and
I want to implement the following behaviour :
ü Independence / asynchronous. The Siebel and SAP applications must be
able to run completely independent of each other when the interface is
deployed. When one application is unavailable, the other must run as usual.
Any "postponed" interfacing because of unavailability of the other
application must be executed when both applications are available again.
Anyone knows how to do the "postponed" interfacing ?
many thanks,
cheers,
KrisKris,
Yes, you can implement a BPM exception handler to do the wait, but as you
indicate, you'll need to know exactly how to interpret the exception
received from the adapter.

Hi thanks for your reply...
It actually is undetermined for the time being but I still have to discuss
that with the client...
What I want to avoid is tweaking the adapter ... If you buy one
off-the-shelf then there is little tweaking to it...
Can't you resolve it a the BPM level by interpreting the error message and
modelling a retry logic in the BPM and eventually a real error ? Any ideas
on that ?
thanks,
Kris

Dear Kris,
How long is SAP or Siebel going to be down? Seconds, minutes, hours,
days,
or undetermined? This is important because WLI has already accounted forthe
seconds case in our CCI Connection acquistion logic. If longer, then
"how
long?" is also important because you need some measure to establish theping
interval, i.e. if SAP is going down for days, then you don't want toattempt
to get a connection every other second (I wouldn't want to know what thelog
file with 2.5 million exceptions per day looks like). Anyway, the
typical
design pattern is to implement logic that is specific to a given EIS inthe
adapter and anything that is generic across EIS in the application
server.
Unfortunately, there is very little support for this in the ConnetorSpec
to
allow the application server to do some of the work for you.
Consequently,
you might have to solve this one at the adapter level for now. Theadapter
should be able to interpret the error message received from the EIS
connection API to determine if it should queue a request and retry it
sometime in the future.

Common Connection Problems
If you have problems connecting to OLAP Metadata Catalog or to the external data source with
Essbase Integration Services Console, review the following list of common problems:
● Are you using the correct user name and password?
❍ Does the user name you used have the correct privileges to access both OLAP Metadata
Catalog and the data source at the database level?
❍ If you are trying to connect to OLAP Metadata Catalog, did you use the same user name
and password as the user who created the tables in OLAP Metadata Catalog?
If you create an OLAP Metadata Catalog when logged in as one user name, you cannot access
the tables in OLAP Metadata Catalog using a different user name unless you create an alias for
the user name (for Microsoft SQL Server) or synonyms for the tables (for IBM DB2 and Oracle).
Common Connection Problems 129
● Are all required components up and running?
❍ Essbase Integration Server
❍ The database servers that manage OLAP Metadata Catalog and the data source databases
❍ The data source database listener for OLAP Metadata Catalog and the data source
● Is the database client software installed and configured on the computer where Integration
Server is installed?
❍ Do the database client software utility programs, such as the command-line SQL utility,
run? Can you connect to databases with them?
❍ Does the user who starts Integration Server have the correct environment variables set
and the necessary access privileges to run the database client software?
❍ Are the required environment variables for the database client software, such as the path
(and the library path on UNIX), configured on the computer where Integration Server
is installed?
On UNIX, use ivtestlib located in the eis/server/bin directory to confirm that the library
path contains all files required by the open database connectivity (ODBC) driver.
● If necessary, is the bin directory for each database in the operating system path of the user
who is running Integration Server?
● Does the ODBC data source name (DSN) configuration identify the name of the data source
client?
On UNIX, use the odbcconfig utility to check the path and environment variable, and to test
connectivity to ODBC.
● Are OLAP Metadata Catalog and the data source configured as ODBC data sources on the
Integration Server computer? For information on configuring ODBC data sources, see
Chapter 2, “Configuring Data Sources”.
● Are you using the ODBC data source names for OLAP Metadata Catalog and the data source
databases as configured on the Integration Server computer? Do not assume that the data
source database name is the same as the ODBC data source name for that database.
● Are you experiencing time-out problems when connecting to the external data source?
Wait and retry the action when the data source is less busy. To avoid the problem, increase the
ODBC driver time-out limit using ODBC Administrator on Windows systems. See the ODBC
documentation.

Is a copy of all software hidden someplace on "C" drive?
I thought I had read a note that all the software that came on the PC was stored someplace and could be used to recover a lost copy - True or not?

Lenovo will not support software so if you do like a few of us and reformat your drive thinking that the software is on the recovery disk you will be ... disapointed.
The software is on the original C: drive and if you read the other post you can get the CD key of one of the burning software if you e-mail the company. I am still trying to look for the folder for WinDVD8 so I can back that up but am not holding my breath. I did purchase the software Perfect Image Professional and will try it out soon to see if I can tap into the EISA partition to get what I can.
Odd thing though even when you use Vista to Completely format the drive that partition still remains. (Yes I did look for any extra partitions that was hidden )
The big key is that even when reformated if you use the red ring dial on the keyboard (LVT) at boot up screen you access the recovery and can reinstall like factory. Yes there are a few problems with getting the dial software to work but after a few go arounds it works.
Hope that helps.

Brand new IPOD Touch Apps no longer work after upgrading software
I got a Ipod touch for my wife Today at Wal-Mart. I brought it home, connected to wifi and downloaded some apps and also payed for some. They all worked fine. Then I connected to computer to transfer songs. It told me to upgrade the Ipod software so i Did. After it restarted none of the downloaded apps work anymore. I have read MANY MANY MANY discussions on this and there is no fix. I am not wiping out all the songs and reload everything all over again. It will take forever. My wifes BD is Friday and this is making me so mad after I just dropped $300 on this thing. APPLE!!! Where is the fix? I deleted the apps and reinstalled they still don't work. Anybody got this figured out? I am getting ready to get my money back and tell everyone to avoid buying ipod until they get this upgrade bug fixed.
Message was edited by: 2009 IPOD TOUCHI have the same problem. Brand new two days ago. I synched the touch with Itunes but wasn't hooked up to the internet at the time so didn't do the software upgrade right away. Then I downloaded about a dozen apps (free and paid) with wifi directly to the touch. They all worked fine. Then I plugged it back in to Itunes and had it upgrade it to 3.1.2. It locked up Itunes several times since then and the downloaded apps no longer work (they start to open then disappear).
The problem is, no one is listening to this problem (including Anna above)! Everyone says "just do a hard reboot, or restore to factory settings, reload the apps, etc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting but none of it fixes this. It sure seems to me this is a problem with 3.1.2 but Apple isn't helping out here. Where are you APPLE? Use some of those outrageous profits you're making to fix the problem you have created. Here's $300 of my hard earned dollars pretty much down the drain.
