Eizo ColorEdge CG275W OR Eizo FlexScan SX2762W

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is using above monitors, I was going to go for the Flexscan SX2762W for day to day use, using Adobe suite- Premiere, After effects, Photoshop. Not looking for colour grading etc, just looking for a good monitor. I was going to use a Samsung 32 inch TV, ISF calibrated for external output using either a Matrox MX02 LE or AJA, BlackMagic etc.
Or I was thinking of going for the CG275W for my main monitor then when funds permit move that over to use as an external monitor and buy another CG275W or an SX2762W for main use.
Any suggestions ideas much appreciated.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply much appreciated.
As I'll be sitting 2 - 3 feet away from screen a 32" HD TV doesn't look practical.
I've decided I'll be going for the Eizo CG246, it's self calibrating and hardware calibratible. I'm going to be using this with the Matrox MX02 LE. I can calibrate it first before using Matroxs calibration procedure if it is required. I know it's expensive at £1400, but once I start colour grading I need something accurate.
If I go for the 27 inch Eizo monitors there will be black bars top bottom and to the sides, watching 1920 x 1080 content at 1:1 pixel mapping. Which is a waste of monitor as the full screen will not be getting used. Plus majority of computer monitors do not do 24Hz (24p) or 25Hz (PAL). The Eizo CG246 can handle this.
Cheers.

Hello, community, Please could someone confirm the Graphics card needed to support a Eizo ColorEdge CG275W monitor, resolution 2560x1440. I currently have a Mac Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT VRAM (Total):          256 MB, which I'm guessing by it's age will not handle the new monitor. Any advice greatly appreciated.

  • MacBook Pro and EIZO Flexscan sx2762w

I have a MacBook Pro (early 2009, OS 10.6.8) and an EIZO Flexscan sx2762w.
Can it display the full 2560x1440, as it doesn't appear in the display options.
    Suggestions greatfully received!

I don't think any cable is manufactured under such meticulous quality control that anyone can be 100% certain of getting one that works flawlessly, but all reputable vendors guarantee what they sell and will replace it if it doesn't work. I've bought several quite satisfactory cables from Monoprice, but I'm sure there's a dud in the mix from time to time, there as elsewhere.
If you'd just like to spend more, in the questionable belief that spending more will get you a better cable, no doubt you can find more expensive ones. I can't bring myself to recommend any, because I don't believe they're likely to be any better and because Monoprice is a reputable vendor.

  • Eizo ColorEdge CE240W and G5 dual 2.5ghz ATI 9600 XT (128mb)

    Hey everybody
Having som problems with my new eizo coloredge CE240W monitor, and my ATI 9600 XT graphics card.
When I boot the screen show the gray background with the apple logo, but when OS X (10.4.8) start loading the screen turns off, as if there is no signal.
I guess that this is a driver problem, but I cant find any driver on ATI's homepage that fixes the problem, do any of you have any idea what to do?

    flatus-
    Tis odd.
The reason I asked about the menu and selections is
that the CE240W specifications list the DVI-I 29 pin
x 2 input signals as "switchable".
I understand this as the ability to change input source, either signal 1 or 2 (both DVI inputs). I am able to select between the two, without any problem.
I am sure that you already checked and maybe I am
missing something but I don't see the 9600 XT listed
    here as a supported card:
    http://www.eizo.com/support/compatibility/graphics/30.

I found the 9600 and 9600 SE but I dont find the 9600 XT, I believed that the 9600 indication included 9600 XT.

  • Anyone have any comments on the Eizo ColorEdge CE240W

It seems like a pretty decent monitor. Can't decide on either an 30" ACD, LaCie or the Eizo. I would love the real estate of the 30", but not the price tag. I'm leaning towards the Eizo but would like some feedback if anyone has any.

I posted my experiences with the very good Eizo CE240W here.

  • Upgrading my FCP X Mac Pro

Upgrading my FCP X Mac Pro
by Michael Holmes on Jul 24, 2012 at 11:18:08 pm
I shoot videos of local bands as a hobby. I have been mixing/mastering songs for these bands for 15 years, so this is a natural extension.
I would like to upgrade my 2010 Mac Pro 2x2.4 Quad Core. This computer is only for (1) FCP X and (2) Pro Tools HD Native. Currently my system works well on single cam editing as long as I don’t use a 3rd party plug-in…………then it drops frames big time. I am about to start using two FS100 camcorders, and I am worried that the Mac Pro won’t handle dual cam editing very well. I edit 100% in ProRes.
Are the following decisions good ones?
    (1)     A Crucial M4 256 SSD for OS/Apps. I plan to buy, this seems like an obvious upgrade. I only have 75GB on the OS/Apps HD, so 256 should be sufficient.
    (2)     A RAID card. I don’t plan to buy this. I am not even using software RAID. Only one of the other three 2TB Hitachi 7200RPM SATA II drives is dedicated to video files; the other two handle Pro Tools files, and backup duties. I don’t currently have room for a RAID card, since the four PCIe slots are/will be used:
    (a)     ATI Radeon 5770
    (b)     Pro Tools HD Native
    (c)     Card for external monitor (maybe)
    (d)     Card for LTO 6 tape storage (planned, as soon as LTO 6 is available).
    (3)     An upgrade of the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card.  I don’t plan to buy this. I haven’t seen anybody saying this will give me substantial FCP X performance improvement.
    (4) Increase memory. I will do this if it will help. I have 16GB, and I can go up to 32GB.
    (5)     An Eizo ColorEdge CG275W LCD Monitor. I don’t know what to do on this. I am currently using an HP 2711x monitor that I calibrate with a Spyder4PRO. I deliver H.264 QuickTime movies that are viewed on computer monitors. Probably 30% are uploaded to the Internet. Often the QT movies are given to club owners when bands try to get bookings.
However, I will probably start to deliver HD video DVD’s soon, especially for the club owners. These will be better quality and increase the odds that the club owners will actually view them. So, right now the product is viewed 100% on computer monitors, but later this year it will start to be viewed on televisions.
BTW, I have no idea what card to buy for this monitor, if I get it.
    Are these the right decisions?
Note that I am doing very little to address the “dropping frames” issue, which is the biggie. Am I overlooking something obvious?
    Thanks!

What about just getting two SSD's for the drive bays:
    (1) One 256GB SSD for OS/Apps
    (2) One 512GB SSD for Event/Project folders.
512GB would be tight on some shoots, but I could even go to a Mercury Electra 960GB SSD.
Yes, very pricey storage, but if this would solve data transfer problems, it would be worth it.
If I only need one video card, I can use a PCIe slot for an external SATA drive unit (4 bays) I already have to handle all backup storage. So, the loss of the two HD bays to SSD would not be a big issue. HD bays are less dear than PCIe slots.

  • Hardware Calibratable Monitor Recommendation

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a hardware calibratable monitor, e.g. NEC Multisync PA301W or Eizo ColorEdge CG275W. Will be doing mainly video (REC 709) and photo editing as well as graphic design.
I looked at different models and some reviews but I would prefer real-life experience from experts and users here. Some say the NEC Multisync competes with the Eizo's, at about half the price.... would you agree ? Is Lacie comparable to NEC or Eizo ?
Another question regarding the NEC Multisync series: Can I use my i1 Display Pro instead of the outdated Spectraview II to perform the calibration ?
Thanks for all your input and recommendations !

This eBay buying guide says your Mac is a PCI graphics aka "Yikes":
    eBay PowerMac G4 Guide
Since it does not have an AGP slot, you are limited to PCI graphics cards. As you said, the stock card has only a VGA connector. There are a several other ATI Radeon cards whose PCI versions also have a DVI connector (probably DVI-I digital-only). Your Mac cannot support an ADC-connector display without an expensive converter to supply the required power.
You may not want to go replace your graphics card, but I am trying to suggest all alternatives.
It looks like the cheapest option would be a display with a VGA connector. This would have to be a 4:3 aspect ratio display, as these older cards do not know about the 16:9 displays available today.

  • Apple 20" CD connects fine to MacBook Pro 2009 via DVI to Mini displayport (adapter) but not to Radeon 5770 (either MDP ports) on MacPro 2008?! Have Eizo CG223 on DVI to 5770. Any ideas?

    Here's the setup:
Eizo Coloredge CG223 DVI to DVI on MacPro 5770 interface (ACD works fine on this too, naturally).
Apple Cinema Display 20" have the DVI connector. I have a Mini Displayport to DVI adapter on this, into one of the 5770's MDPs, neither of which seem to work.
Plug the same ACD via DVI (with DVI to MDP adpater) into my MacBook Pro 2009 MDP and it works fine as a second screen.
So what's up with the 5770 MDPs? I've seen online that the card should at least support two displays, either MDPs x2 or MDP and DVI. I've seen there may be an issue with three, not two.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks,
    Y

Striped down to bare inputs - monitors and keyboard/mouse. Works! Dimerising must have interfered with it. Phew!

  • Best screen color calibration software?

It has recently become apparent that I desperately need to calibrate my screen for correct color. I inherited my current computer when starting a new job and have been working my way through updating programs, file, etc.
My questions is, what is the best software to buy to calibrate my screen? Any suggestions?

Besides hardware callibration, you need good screen that is made for graphic. You can't calibrate some low-cost screens. I suggest you Eizo screens, for example Eizo FlexScan S2433W (http://www.eizo.com/global/products/flexscan/s2433w/index.html) or Eizo ColorEdge CG241W (http://www.eizo.com/global/products/coloredge/cg241w/index.html) They are little expencive, but you will get the best.
Forgot to mention that you can buy Calibrator with screen also.
    Hope that helps.

  • Color Management: Results differ between Lightroom and ColorSync

Hi. I'm on a Mac and using LightRoom 3 with a Canon PIXMA MG5250 printer.
I have read elsewhere on the web that choosing a profile from within Lightroom's Print interface is essentially the same as selecting "Color Sync" under "Color Matching" in the print dialog (as opposed to "Canon Color Matching") and then selecting the prifile there. The only difference is in what interface you use to pass the same instructions to the driver. And sure enough, when I select a profile in LR, the options under "Color Matching" are disabled (with the "Color Sync" radio button selected). The only thing is:
Selecting the profile in Lightroom produces a slightly brighter image.
I printed the same image on the same piece of paper side by side. First one image with CM from LR. Then I refed the sheet, moved the image over to the other side and printed again with CM set to ColorSync and profile selected in the print dialog. The latter produced noticably richer (and more desireable) blacks.
    Should this be possible?

Back at work and my wide gamut monitors, and now I see the problem very clearly.
Lr Develop and Photoshop are basically in agreement, although there is the weird banding in the Photoshop version. The differences are all in the red channel, so here's once again how the full screenshot looks - the first as is, the second with a curves layer to make it clearer:
So let's forget the histogram for now (although the clipping still makes me suspicious) and figure out which version is the correct one. I tend to trust Photoshop, but there is one known bug that affects Prophoto files with Open GL "on" only. All other color spaces go clear of it. This could well be it, because it causes colored banding in shadow areas. The bug is acknowledged but still not resolved.
So try to turn off Open GL in Photoshop and see if the banding goes away.
If it does, and Lightroom Develop/Photoshop are in agreement, I'd probably leave it at that and settle for Jao's explanation above. As has been said before, the fact that there is a difference is in itself no mystery, since the previews are rendered into Adobe RGB and Develop uses linear Prophoto.
And then I'd recalibrate the monitor, making sure that it's properly warmed up, just to be safe.
I'll try to duplicate this when I get time, using images with similar deep blue tones. But my monitors are Flexscans, not Coloredges, and the Eizo profiling software is different, so it's not directly comparable.

  • Color correct monitor

I am looking to buy a good color correct monitor for working with photos and eventually printing them in book. My tech friend recommended Eizo as the best and said that I may not have to get a top of the line one. Does anyone have an opinion about the Eizo ColorEdge CE210W, which is specifically for working with photographs, or the FlexScan S2100, which is a standard model? How about the LaCie 324? I will be printing in Asia and in Japan Standard profile and need a monitor I can trust for color quality, because I can't make proofs here (in Europe).

    Hal, Andrew, Web Weaver -
Thanks very much for your quick replies and advice. I was away from my computer
since my initial post so haven't had a chance to follow your advice yet. But I plan tonight.
WW: right, calibration is the correct term :) will look for the ICC file.
Hal, sounds like a worthwhile investment. Thx.
    Andrew thanks for the link!
Will let y'all know how it goes.

  • LR2.2 to edit in Photoshop CS4 yield lighter images in PS

I notice a problem since upgrading to PS CS4 from PS CS3, that when I select Edit in PS CS4 from within LR 2.1, the image that opens in PS is noticeably lighter by about one stop. I get the same result if I edit as smart object or as a TIF. If I make no changes within PS but just save the TIF file and then go back to LR, the new TIF saved from within PS and the original CR2 (or DNG) file appear to be at the same exposure when viewed inside LR2.1. I was hoping that upgrading to LR2.2 would fix the problem, but it has not. It is exactly the same.
I've checked all of my LR and PS settings and preferences and there is not additional processing that is being done when I edit in PS. It's really strange.
My monitor, an Eizo ColorEdge CE240W, is properly calibrated. I'm running a MacPro 8 core with Leopard 10.5.6.
I have exactly the same software and settings installed on my MacBookPro 15" but I do not have the problem there.
I tried uninstalling PS-CS4, deleting PS and LR preferences and reinstalling PS-CS4 to no avail. I did not have this problem with previous versions of LR and PS.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
