EJB archive passes ejbc compilation but fails deploy on WLS7

I'm attempting to migrate several functional
EJBs from WLS6.1 to WLS7.0. I've made the
deployment descriptor changes and created an
archive containing the EJBs. The ejbc compilation
tool successfully processes the archive so long
as I don't specify the -iiop option.
However, the WLS7.0 server fails to deploy
the archive. No messages or exceptions are
provided. I've tried deployment both as an ear and jar file. Any clues or suggestions?

(or even 5.1) to 7.0. Just deploy the ejbs in the new server.
Of course, many people will upgrade their descriptors to take advantage
of new 7.0 options, but I'd first ensure your beans work without
changing anything.I tried deploying the same archive on WLS 7.0 that I've already deployedto WLS
6.1. It faired exactly the same as the previous version.

Hmmm. That's odd. How are you deploying it, and how do you know it
didn't deploy?
I've copied the archive into the mydomain directory then used the Adminpages
to select it for deployment. It works its way to a page stating thatits 'Activating'
the archive and reports the start time. However, this process neverdisplays
the end time or returns. Instead, the WLS server merely exits andthe Admin console
suddenly displays the imfamous 'page not found' page.WLS should never just exit. It sounds like the JVM crashed. Are you
using the JVM bundled with WLS? What platform are you on? Is there
a
core file or any *.log files left over from the jvm?Win 2000 w/ JDK 1.3.1_03 but I've not altered the WLS basic configuration so it
should still be using its own.
I attempted to redirect out and err to log files, but nothing gets captured and
WLS leaves nothing that I've found. I even placed a 'pause' at the bottom of
the start command file; the WLS window exitted without waiting for it.

You might also try just copying the jar/ear to the server's applications
directory. I'd be interested to see if this works.
I tried. The Admin server never starts.

I've located the following error message in the mydomain\logs\wl-domain.log,although
it provides no real information.
<Sep 13, 2002 5:56:59 PM CDT> <Error> <Deployer> <CI069311> <myserver><ExecuteThread:
'10' for queue: 'default'> <kernel identity> <> <149233> <Unexpectederror was
encountered during the deployment process.>
Incidentally, before I can attempt to restart the WLS, I have to manuallyremove
the archive from the config.xml.

  • Hard drive i/o error, spinning beachballs. PASSES Smart test, but fails two specific parameters:

    I'm on a Macbook from early 2007.
    First off, I'm fully aware that my HD is probably on its last legs and I have two gigantic TB external HDs on which there are multiple images of the entire drive, so data loss is not currently a problem for me. I've also just finished college assignments for the summer so I can afford to mess around with this a bit before taking the plunge and replacing it.
    What intrigues me is this. The machine has been extremely slow for a long time. Recently I disabled swapping and the speed rocketed, presumably due to the HD being utilized less during usage. Now the downside to disabling swapping is that when Safari Web Content gets out of control as it always eventually does, you can have a full on system hang which requires a forced shutdown through the power button. So it's very possible that the issues I'm currently experiencing are to do with the machine being improperly shut down one too many times and somehow damaging the drive itself.
    But anyway, this is the interesting aspect. Using TTP I ran a SMART test on the internal HD from one of the bootable partitions on one of the external ones, and to my astonishment, it actually PASSES the smart test. The only two parameters which fail are the following:
    Raw Read Error Rate
    Write Error Count
    An image of the SMART test results is attached:
    Now to give you an example of the kind of issues I'm having, in order to take that screenshot I used "Grab". When searching for Grab in spotlight it gave me results from the internal HD and from all the various backup drives I have attached. I opened the internal copy and one from a backup partition on another drive (neither of which currently booted from). The one from the backup bounced and opened. The one from internal bounced about 15 times, the spotlight bar hung with a spinning beacball, and I ended up force quitting because I got sick of waiting for it. That's the major symptom of the issue I'm having.
    Now here's the reason I'm posting. As I say I know this drive is about to go so there's no need to lecture me about that, I can't replace it immediately but plan to in the very near future when I have a chance. My question is this. Those two specific failed SMART results, what exactly would cause them in terms of HD problems? Bearing in mind that it passes every single other SMART parameter, am I looking at unmapped bad blocks, a physical problem with the head, a loose wire, a bad motor, or what? I'm just wondering specifically what might be wrong with the drive, out of pure curiosity more so than anything else. The fact that most parameters pass suggests to me that it's one very specific malfunction as opposed to the drive generally imploding.
    A surface scan from TTP crashed, but not before giving me about 30 "Used block is not a file" messages.
    Finally, to temporarily use this drive, what's the procedure? If it's unmapped bad blocks, to I erase and install, or do I go into the whole "zero all data, then reformat" option? I have a backup image taken last night from the external drive which I can restore to the internal any time I want, and as I say with so many backups and so few deadlines ahead of me I don't mind messing around a bit and experimenting.
    So if it IS a bad block issue, what does one do to force it to map them?

    Had a feeling. As I say it's already fully backed up and ATM I'm running the machine off a partition on the external. But as I say, I'm curious as to what's actually wrong with it - what type of damage / failure would cause those specific smart parameters to fail but not the rest? The motor, the head, the disk surface, what?

    Look like it is expecting Conio, which was a MS only console IO API. There are some implementations of Conio for Linux though. It might be worth learning ncurses, to just replace the Conio bits.

    What would be the cause of the error, would it be related to the way I create the datasource and the table? Or other causes, please help. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Nicholas Lok

    It's difficult to tell solely by the messages. One there seems to be a problem finding a base class. One thing that I notice is that the package seems to contain 'book' with a lower case 'b' as in:
    EJB name: BookBean.EJB under LibraryEJBProject\book
    Whereas all the error messages are saying that they are having trouble finding something with a package name like 'Book' with a capital 'B'.
    Perhaps that is the problem, the package has to be consistently 'book' or 'Book' and can't be both.
    Hope I'm right and hope this helps.

  • ANT Deployment issue. works fine in one environment but fails in other

    Hi,
    Ant script is working fine in Dev environment but is failing in the other environment. Somehow the BPEL server is not able to pick the latest deployed process , due to this the dependent BPEL processes are failing. If we restart the server , it moves forward and then fails at the point where it couldn’t find reference to the processes deployed after restart. Restarting the server at every failed interval will deploy all the BPEL processes which is not the solution.
    example : we have BPEL Processes say A, B, C, D and E. A,B are independent processes C is dependent on A, D is independent and E is dependent on D. So I have Ant script to deploy in A,B,C,D,E order. Now I run the Ant Script: It deploys A,B processes and Fails at C saying it couldn't find the process A.wsdl(But A is deployed). So if i restart now it recognizes A and B are deployed so C is also deployed succesfully it also deploys D as it is Independent but fails at E. If i restart the server E is also deployed.
    The Environment is clustered.
    Any suggestion to make my Ant script to run at a go will be highly appreciated
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi KrishnaBhaskarla,
    I have something related to ant script, Can you please provide me the steps for deploying applications using ant script.

  • TS4522 I am trying to export to Vimeo, have never had a problem, but now it is getting stuck at 8% and failing, and if it goes passed 8% it eventually fails anyway, what should i do???

    I am trying to export to Vimeo, have never had a problem, but now it is getting stuck at 8% and failing, and if it goes passed 8% it eventually fails anyway, what should i do???

    Try exporting a Master File with settings of Web Hosting and H.264. If it exports successfully, see if a manual upload works.

    You'd do something like:
    <%
    //vvv this part can potentially be done in initialization
    Context ctx = getInitialContext();
    BeanHome home =
    (BeanHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ctx.lookup("the.jndi.name"),
    BeanHome.class);
    Bean b = home.create();
    //^^^
    Result r = b.invokeMethod();

  • Messaging working in BlazeDS deployed on Windows Tomcat but failing in Tomcat deployed on Ubuntu

    I have been going round and round on this for days. I have no idea how to solve it. Everything works fine in windows but now I have to move to Ubuntu. I set up a streaming server with BlazeDS which is messaging to my clients great when my war is in tomcat 7 on windows but is failing in tomcat 7 on Ubuntu.
    I see my client connect to BlazeDS on Ubuntu. The DEBUG messages print out that I have a client subscribed. It says that I have one FlexSession for an id and one client subscribed to streaming-amf. Then, a few seconds later, it says that the client sent a duplicate request "streaming-amf recieved a duplicate sreaming connection request from, FlexClient with id ... Faulting request."
    Next the log files print out that there are no streaming clients for the FlexSession and no streaming clients for the endpoint streaming-amf.
    This is the same software that works fine in the Windows Tomcat container but is not in Ubuntu Tomcat even though the WAR is exactly the same. In case it helps, my config files and calls are below:
    messaging-config.xml
        <destination id="sp-streamingchannel">

    Why would this work fine on one server but fail on the other? Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
    While it may not be releavnt to this question, I do have remoting working fine with BlazeDS on both systems. When my app starts, the user has to log in. All of that is done with BlazeDS and is working fine on both Win and Ubuntu. I only have a problem when it comes to streaming with BlazeDS as is shown above.

    Please could somebody help me out with this? Basically I am not able to understand how to deploy the EAR file created under the MyWork folder under jdeveloper\jdev to the applications folder of j2ee\home. I am new to both EAR deployment as well as web services and would like to get a good understanding of the working of a web service which includes SOAP components and the like.
    Any help with regards to building and deploying a web service on standalone OC4J would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

    Initially I followed the following steps to start up OC4J:-
    Settings :-
    1) Jdeveloper is setup under C:\Lester\Testing as Jdev10.1.3 folder
    2) I downloaded the extended oc4j zip folder and unzipped it under a new folder oc4j at the location C:\Lester\Testing\Jdev10.1.3
    Steps followed to run oc4j and deploy application
    1) Setup a standalone oc4j from the jdeveloper ide giving C:\Lester\Testing\Jdev10.1.3\oc4j as the root folder for oc4j.
    2) While doing step 1 added password and deployed it. Changed server.xml under C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/config
    to include the following:-
    <shared-library name="global.libraries" version="1.0" library-compatible="true">
    <code-source path="C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/applib"/>
    </shared-library>
    AND
    <java-compiler name="javac" in-process="false" options="-J-Xmx1024m -encoding UTF8" bindir="C:\Jdeveloper\jdk" extdirs="C:\Jdeveloper/jdk" />
    3) Opened a command prompt and went to the location C:\Lester\Testing\JDev10.1.3\oc4j\j2ee\home and ran the following command:-
    --> java -jar oc4j.jar
    4) Deployment: Then I deployed my primewebservice application from command prompt at C:\Lester\Smart Cylinder\Example code\prime\PrimeNumberService>
    using:-
    --> java -jar C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://172.20.13.164:8888 oc4jadmin welcome -deploy -file PrimeNumberService.ear -deploymentName DocStyleWebService
    5) Web Binding: Then I bound my primewebservice application from command prompt at C:\Lester\Smart Cylinder\Example code\prime\PrimeNumberService>
    using:-
    --> java -jar C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://172.20.13.164:8888 oc4jadmin welcome -bindWebApp DocStyleWebService PrimeNumberService_web http-web-site /docws
    6) Steps 4 and 5 went through without error.
    7) However when trying to access the web service using the following link I get the standard HTTP 404 (Page not found) error:-
    http://localhost:8888/docws/prime
    This was before I tried deploying the web service through jdeveloper IDE.
    I had tried the document web service given at the following link:-
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/webservices/docservice/index.html
    from the web services how to links
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/webservices/index.html
    Please could somebody help me out? Also periodically I recieve the ojc.exe not found error when trying to deploy an application using jdeveloper ide. There are two conflicting jdeveloper versions one comes with this exe and one without.

  • In my NWDS "Build EJB Archive" is not actitivated?

    Hi all!
    I created an EJB project and imported some files in to my EJB project. When i try to build my EJB Archive, it is not activated. I tried even a simple EJB project, for that also Build EJB Archive is not activated. Help me
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi
    I have done what you said in your first post, Build EJB Archive is enabled very well, but i got deployment error when deploying .ear file to J2EE engine.
    Actually I build an Enterprise project and addded this EJB project to that, and built .ear file and this ear file is deployed onto SAP J2EE engine:
    I got this deployment error:

  • Compile error during deployment. (App. Server 8 with Mysql)

    I am using Sun Application Server 8 with several Mysql databases.
    When I attempt to deploy my .EAR, the App Server's CMP compiler gives an error regarding missing JDO classes.
    I did try dowloading JDO from java.sun.com, but noted that the jdo jars do not contain the needed classes referenced in the error.
    Error follows:

  • My B+Tree can compile but have runtime error ... i can't tink why ...

    Sorry to bother anyone ... i have spent almost 3 weeks trying to debug the problem...
    My B+ Tree can compile but can't run as it throw invalid Null pointer Exception ..
    I suspected the error is in the split (int order ) method in the BTreeNode class but i can't remedy for it
    This my program code
    public class BTree {
    * The order of the B-Tree. All nodes of the B-Tree can store up to 2*order key values.
    private int order;
    * The number of key (with associated data values) stored in the B-Tree.
    private int count;
    * The root node of the B-Tree
    private BTreeNode root;
    * The first leaf node in the B-Tree. This field is used to give the starting point for sequential
    * access to the keys and data stored in the leaf nodes.
    private BTreeNode first;
    * The last leaf node in the B-Tree. This field is used to give the starting point for reverse
    * sequential access to the keys and data stored in the leaf nodes.
    private BTreeNode last;
    * A change count that can be used to invalidate iterators. This field is updated whenever a key plus data pair
    * is added to the B-Tree (or the data associated with a key is changed), or when a key plus data pair are
    * deleted from the B-Tree.
    private int changeCount = 0;
    // WHEN DOING ASSIGNMENT 5, DO NOT ADD ANY ADDITIONAL FIELDS TO THIS CLASS
    // You will loose marks if you add additional fields to this class. The fields above are all that
    // you need. If you need a variable in a method, use a local variable. I have seen too many
    // assignments where students add fields rather than create local variables. Hopefull the threat
    // of loosing (quite a few) marks will help reduce this habit.
    * A general exception class for errors when constructing or manipulating a B-Tree. Use the string
    * parameter to the constructor to say what the error really is.
    public class BTreeError extends RuntimeException {
    public BTreeError(String reason) {
    super(reason);
    * A constructor that creates an empty B-Tree of the given order.
    * <p/>This is the only constructor provided at the moment for this BTree class. Could consider
    * adding the equivalent of a 'copy constructor' that creates a new BTree object from an existing
    * BTree object.Constructor
    * creates the root of a btree
    * A constructor that creates an empty B-Tree of the given order.
    * <p/>This constructor need to copy the order parameter to the field of same name, and initialise the
    * root, cound, first and last fields of the BTree object.
    * @param order The order of the BTree.
    public BTree(int order) {
    count = 0;
    this.order = order;
    root = new BTreeNode(true, null, -1, null, null);
    first = root;
    last = root;
    * A method to return a SequentialIterator object that is positioned just before the first key
    * of the BTree object.
    * <p/>Do not modify this method.
    * @return A SequentialIterator object.
    public SequentialIterator iterator() {
    return new BTreeIterator();
    * A mehtod to return a SequentialIterator object that is positioned at a key found through a call

    * This method searches the B-Tree for an occurence of the key in a leaf node and returns the result
    * of the search in a SearchPosition object.
    * <p/>Note that the key may occur in an interior node of the BTree without occuring in the leaf

    * <p/>The result of the search is returned as a SearchPosition object, as this allow the return

    * key as the starting position for subsequent sequential access to adjacent keys.
    * <p/>This is one of the method you need to implement.
    * <p/>Implementation nodes:<br>
    * You need to find the leaf node that may contain the key (same code as for add()), then
    * scan the leaf BTreeNode for the search tree. You can do this within this method, as you
    * have total access to the fields and methods of BTreeNode (as BTreeNode is an inner class

    * details of the position, otherwise construct add return a SearchPosition object that indicates the

    * A method to delete a node from the BTree.
    * <p/>The method should return the data object that was deleted when the key plus data object pair
    * are deleted from the B-tree.
    * <p/>The method should throw a BTreeError exception (with an appropriate reason string) if the
    * key is not found in the B-tree.
    * <p/>This is a method you can implement for bonus marks in Assignment 5.
    * <p/>Implementation notes:<br>
    * The easiest way to proceed is to use searchFor() to determine if they key is in the BTree, and
    * (if it is in the B-tree) to return position information about the key. Throw an exception if the
    * key is not in the B-tree, otherwise keep a copy of the data assocaited with the key (to return),
    * then for the leaf node containing the key (a BTreeNode object), call the deleteLeafNodeKey() method,
    * passing across the leaf key index of the key (so you don't have to find it again in the leaf node).
    * After this method deletes the key, return the data you saved as the method result.
    * @param key The key to delete (along with it's associated data) from the B-tree.
    * @return The data associated with the key that was deleted.
    public Object delete(Comparable key){
    // You need to add the code for this method.
    return null;
    * The inner class BTreeNode is used to represent the nodes in the B-Tree.
    * <p/>The nodes in the BTree are of two types:
    * <ol>
    * <li>Leaf nodes that contain the keys and associated data values, stored in ascending key order.<br>
    * These leaf nodes have next and previous pointers to adjacent leaf nodes to allow an easy
    * implementation of an iterator class to provide bi-directional sequential access to the keys stored
    * in the BTree nodes.
    * <li>Interior nodes that contain keys and links to child nodes (that are either all internal nodes
    * or all leaf nodes), organised as the node of a multi-way search tree. The interior nodes have
    * one more child node link than keys. The child node link at index k is to a node with keys that
    * are all less than the key at index k in this node. The link at index k+1 is to a child node
    * with keys that are all greater than or equal to the key at index k.
    * </ol>
    * The BTreeNode class allows you to create these two 'types' of nodes, depending on the parameters
    * passed to the constructor.
    * <p/>There are methods that should only be called for leaf nodes and methods that should only be
    * called for interior nodes. These methods should throw an exception if called by the wrong node
    * type. This class should really be designed using inheritance to mimic the pascal/C++ variant
    * record structure, but this design is relatively easy to understand and to implement.
    * <p/>Note that this class is an inner class of BTree, and so all objects will have an implict
    * reference to the BTree container object. This class has direct access to all the fields of the
    * BTree contaner object. In particular, the order of the BTree is available, hence this class
    * does not need to keep a copy of the order as a field.

    * <li>Otherwise the node has (2*order+1) key values, and need to split. The split operation leaves the first

    * <ol>
    * <li>If this node is the root node (i.e., it does not have a parent node), the split of this node will create
    * a new root node, with a single key (the key at index (order+1)) and this node and the new BTreeNode as

    * key to insert (at location this.parentIndex in the keys array of the parent node), the index to

  • NWDS - Build EJB Archive not possible

    Hi there!
    Recently I updated my NWDS from version 2.0.15 to version 2.0.16.
    My workspace mainly consists of 2 EJB Module projects, 1 Web Module Project and 1 Enterprise Application project.
    The EAR project bundles the modules to an enterprise application.
    Before updating the NWDS, everything regarding build & deployment worked fine. But now I'm facing the problem that I cannot build the EJB Archives anymore. The menu entry for building the JAR is inactive. Also, when I try to build the whole EAR application, the EJB module archives are missing in the EAR.
    I've already tried to create new module projects and copy all sources to the new project. Once the archive build worked, but after restarting NWDS, the problem came up again.
    Does anybody has an idea about this issue? Maybe this is a known bug of version 2.0.16?
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Matthias

    Hi all!
    I'm still having this problem. It seems to handle with a problem of org.eclipse.jface-plugin.
    Because, in these corrupted projects, I cannot access ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file correctly.
    Each time I'm clicking on a bean listed in this file, I get an error message "An error has occured. See error log for more details."
    Ok, the details in the logs are pretty poor:
    !MESSAGE Problems occurred when invoking code from plug-in: "org.eclipse.jface".
    !STACK 0
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.model.ui.sapejbjar.internal.description.UISapEjbJarDescriptionEnterpriseBean.refreshSpecificUIFromData(UISapEjbJarDescriptionEnterpriseBean.java:486)
    So finally, the menu entry "Build EJB Archive" is still inactive and I'm getting slightly mad with this tool.
    If anybody of you has expierience with similar behavior of NWDS, PLEASE HELP!
    Kind regards,
    Matthias
