EJB missing expression builder

I'm getting an exception:
Exception Description: The query has not been defined correctly, the expression builder is missing. For sub and parallel queries ensure the queries builder is always on the left.
Query: ReportQuery(profil.Person)
this is my query in profil.Person:
@NamedQuery(name ="Person.findByProfilalder", query ="select o from Person o where o.foedselsdag =:foedselsdag and o.personid not in (select c.personid from Testperson c)")
where should I look for an error ? what is the problem ? what is the builder ?
The query did work until I made other queries.
I have a method in a sessionBean that must choose between the many queries
if(somthing)
then query one
else query two

I have found out that the sub query: not in (select c.personid from Testperson c) is the problem....
Will putting the query in my ORM.XML change any thing ?

Hi Lutchumaya,
Just a litlle advice: use the SQL Worksheet (Jdev menus: Tools-> SQL Worksheet) in order to test your query, you immediatly know if the error is coming from the sql or from your code (maybe the "?" is not correctly replaced at runtime?)

Dynamic table in Oracle report data model using laxical parameter is giving error Ora-00936: missing expression

I am using Oracle report 10G
And trying to create report with dynamic table
SELECT &COL1, &COL2
FROM &TAB
If I put this on data model it gives below error
ORA-00936: missing expression

Look in the Reports Builder Help:
If you want to use lexical references in your SELECT clause, you should create a separate lexical reference for each column you will substitute. In addition, you should assign an alias to each lexical reference.
Does adding the column alias solve the problem?

Expression Builder - Anydata Cast Error - Encountered the symbol "("

I am using OWB 11 with Oracle 11 and am hitting an error on something I would think is super simple in expression builder!
So I been reading around the forums and havent been able to figure out what is going on with my transformation
I drag and dropped the transformation "Anydata Cast" onto my mapping
I select the target type as "VARCHAR" for casting
I drag and drop the source column and drop it over the auto generated "CAST_SOURCE" from INGRP1
I then drag CAST_TARGET from the OUTGRP1 to my target
I right click the ANYDATA_CAST transformation and click on "Output Attributes" and click on the "..." to open the expression builder
Then I input the following code
CAST( INGRP1.CAST_SOURCE AS VARCHAR(10))
And hit validate
I then hit the following error
Line 1, Col 40:
PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "(" when expecting one of the following:
Am I missing something in my code??
I know this is really simple, but I really cant find what I am doing wrong??

Expression Builder: convert string to number

Hi all,
I'm having trouble building a field validation rule for bank account numbers.
The numbers have 12 positions, so I cannot use a string or text number.
The validation rule to be implemented is that the last two digits are calculated based on the first 10 (modulo 97).
However, when I use the Mid function to pick the first characters, I am unable to do any calculations on it. Apparently, the string to number conversion doesn't work (it should work when I read the manual, as it says that when using an operator between two data types, the second type is converted to the first (cf. example of 1234+abcd (should result in 1234 as to the manual))). So I tried '1*Mid(...)' or '0+Mid(...)'. Syntactically the expression builder accepts it and I can save it. BUT when I change the particular value on the screen, it gives me an SSO error (not the Field Validation error message I entered).
Why isn't there simply a function ToNumber (like ToChar)????? How could I workaround this?
Any input very welcome!

Why are you using the concat(||) Symbol after i in the expression String 'CREATED_BY' ||i||. When you are padding between
two text we use so.
Ex: If you want to concat 'i' between String we use

IR Report Search - ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00936: missing expression

Hi All,
I had created a IR report based on a table and it was working with no issues. But after few days, when I try searching using the IR search bar it shows "ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00936: missing expression" error message. I don't see any debug messages or errors in the debug window. The Finder drop down is empty too, there are no columns displayed to filter.
When I recreate the IR report(new page) based on the same table, It works fine and there are no issues with the search. But the old IR report search doesnt work. I have not modified the any thing in the old report after initial creation. Report uses Primary key based on a sequence.
What might have caused this issue?
Is there a way to intercept the search query from IR report?
Apex version - 4.2.3.00.08.
Any help on this appreciated.

ERROR: ORACLE prepare error: ORA-00936: missing expression

Hello,
I am required to run "pass-through" Oracle SQL, to extract data from tables into SAS for processing and manipulation. My code (attached) reads and writes (executes) but with zero records to test first. I cannot get past the Prepare Error.
The query is very much like other queries that seem to work, but I cannot get past this prepare error. I have no other access to individauls with adequate knowledge of PL SQL, and as a last stop hoped others in the forum could quickly spot the source of errror.

Hello Again ,
Wish Oracle was a bit more informative. Am using a SAS Institute Product called Enterprise Guide. A "hot fix" was installed to address an issue that the product appears unable to save the latest version of edited code changes (hence " BETWEEN between" remaining even after a prior edit). In any case, with the change, am now receiving this error:
" ERROR: ORACLE prepare error: ORA-00904: "PHRMCY_CLM_FACT"."LAST_SRVC_DT": invalid identifier". (Log file appears below)
-The error remains, regardless of whether one uses "pass through" code to pass the date range to Oracle (which looks ok from the log output below I believe), or if I hard code the date range into the PL SQL query itself.
-The Prepare error always appears at end of the inner SELECT.
-The Prepare error remains, with or without the GROUP BY clause.
Is there anything else here I am missing? Someone suggested a reserve word - but from other ANSI SQL versions, I do not see that is the case. I have consulted SAS Tech Support and SAS List Serve at University of GA. but nothing definitive from these sources. Have requested facility to be able to run Oracle directly, outside this SAS Institute product - in process.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone very much.

OIM 11g - AD Organization Recon "missing expression" error

Hi,
I've got an environment with a OIM 11.1.1.5.2 installed with MSAD user management connector version 9.1.1.
Provisioning to Active Directory works just fine out of the box, however, we've run into a problem with the Organization Reconciliation Job (not the organization lookup reconciliation).
Every time i run the "AD Organization Recon" schedule task, the job ends succesfully and events are created for each AD org, but these events do not have any value on the "current status" field and no OIM organization is created.
Checking the logs, i can find the following error for each organization discovered for the connector:

This is not the first time this happens to us, just a month ago in a different environment, and working with OIM 11.1.1.5, we found the same problem. After reviewing everything we could thought of, we exported the Xellerate Organization.xml file from mds and found this:

We found that after adding the same rule on the element "matchingruleWhereClause" to the element "ownerMatchingRuleWhereClause" the reconciliation started working. At the time we thought that maybe we had modified some property on the design console and messed up the profile, or some bug that would be patched on 11.1.1.5.2, but now that we have a brand new patched installation we face the exact same situation.
Is this a common problem in 11.1.1.5? Is manually editing the xellerate organization profile supported? Maybe we are doing something wrong, but we've followed all OIM and AD connector guides, there's nothing there that says that we need to configure rules on the xellerate orgs resource before trying recon. We can reconcile using this workaround, but we do not want to move forward without knowing if something could go wrong down the line.

Using Decode in Expression Builder...

Hi everybody,
I want to use the DECODE function of SQL in an Expression Builder....
Of course this function does not exist in any of the transformation categories(arithmetic,character,e.t.c.) in the expression builder.
I have read in the OWB on-line help that in the Expression Builder there should be an 'Others' drop - down list in order to select any of the available SQL clauses - one of them is 'decode'...
The problem is that this drop - down list in the Expression Builder is disabled.....
How can I use this function anyway..????
Instead of using ... in the Expression Builder...
decode(<column_name>,'1','val_one','2','val_two') what can I use to do the same....???
As regards the problem that the drop-down list is disabled , what may be the cause..???
I use Microsoft XP machine , Oracle 10g (v.10.2) and OWB v.10.1.0.4
The documentation says....
"This allows you to deploy the DECODE functionality in all operating modes (setbased, rowbased, etc.) and transparently across Oracle database releases (8.1, 9.0 and 9.2)."
The above means that the cause is the incompatibility..????

I am using OWB 9.2.0.8 and I can't reproduce the problem you are having with 10.1, but did you try just typing it into the expression?
Or, better yet, use CASE. The syntax is easier to read. I think OWB translates DECODEs to CASE when the SQL is generated.

We cant use by in Expression builder(rpd) .But use the same formula like this in Fx of answers

First check the numerator whether it was giving correct results or not then go with denominator

ORA-00936: Missing Expression when using a claculation as a condition item

Hi
I created a calculation below to create a subtotal on each row of a group of selected items.
SUM(Invoice Amount)OVER(PARTITION BY Supplier Num ORDER BY Payment Currency Code)
This worked fine - but then I wanted to create a condition based on this calculation and when I used the calculation as a condition item and reran the report I received the 'ORA-00936: Missing Expression' error. So not too sure why it is fine as a calculation but not as part of a condition.
We use Discoverer version 4.1
Am I missing something or is this a bug?
Any help would be very appreciated

We are using the 9.2.0.5 version of the database
I am not a SQL expert, by any means, but below is the line that refers to the condition in the sql inspector
WHERE ( ( E_152 )/2 > 50)
presuambly that means E_152 is the calculation, I think this may be refering to this at the beginning of the report:

Apologies if this info is not that helpful
Would it have anything to do with the fact that the row calculation is based on several rows (i.e. a subtotal) and if a single row is excluded it would change the value of the other rows within that subtotal group. Maybe it causes some sort of circular issue?
