EJB Monitoring

Hi
I would like to find an api with resources to manage EJB monitoring. There is
a tool for that in the weblogic console (that monitor can monitor Idle Beans ,Count
Beans In Use, Count Waiter Total Count, Timeout Total Count, Transactions Committed
Total Count, Transactions Rolled Back Total Count, Transactions Timed Out Total
Count). I would like to know if it is posible to have access to the api weblogic
use or if there is any api to handle ejb events for develop the monitoring tool).
Thanks in advance.

  • Monitor EJB transaction timeout value

    Hi,
    I try to create a test case to monitor transaction timeout and rollback value
    (not 0) from weblogic 6.1 console. By adding the timeout value to the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
    and rebuild the beanManaged example, I successfully create the scenario by seeing
    the timeout and transaction rollback exception from the server. However, from
    console the timeout value and rollback value of EJB monitoring still show "0"
    not any number I expected. Any bug from Weblogic?
    Thanks, Cathy

    The following configuration seems working:
    version: OC4J (9.0.3.0.0) (build 020927.1699)
    AM deployment:
    - bc4j.xcfg: <jbo.ejb.txntimeout>30000</jbo.ejb.txntimeout>
    - orion-ejb-jar.xml: <session-deployment name="..." timeout="0"/>
    OC4J config:
    - data-source: inactivity-timeout="30000"
    This keeps connection open for more than default 30 mins of inactivity (30000 secs configured).
    Although, oc4j console prints multiple warnings:
    DriverManagerConnectionPoolConnection not closed, check your code!
    Looks like this is not an intended usage - but working.
    Notice that it was a test, not a production environment.
    Also pls see 9033: AM as EJB Session bean: pooled connection lost for new txn
    I would be thankful for any experience in running AM Session EJB w/o timeout.

    * A framework holding user defined SuperComponents.
    * A full-featured logging/tracing tool for centralized, chronological logging.
    * A PeekPoke tool to read/write attributes from EJBs.
    * A Stress test tool.
    * A global environment tool.
    * A report tool.
    * A Scheduler tool.
    * A Business patrol tool.
    It is written in pure Java.

  • CacheFullException in WebLogic Server 8.1SP4

    Hello,
    in our production system based on Weblogic Portal 8.1SP4 we are experiencing severe problems because of CacheFullExceptions lately.
    This is especially problematic, since we are a Webservice Server and our Webservice Clients do get this Exception in the Webservice answers.
    Raising the max-beans-in-cache does not seem to help. The cache is already several times higher than the actual bean count.
    Unfortunately, the Stacktrace in the logfile just states that there was a CacheFullException, but does not tell us which bean caused that exception - see for example the appended stacktrace. How can one find out for sure which bean this applies to?
    So, as a way to find that out, we looked into the BEA Console and listed the Bean usage of the corresponding EJB module. (Deployments -> Applications -> choose EAR -> choose EJB -> Monitoring -> Entity-EJBs) We there realized that the "Beans in Use Current Count" is for some beans quite high in comparison to what we would expect it to be - say 17000 for a bean with only 9000 instances, and in another case 50000 for bean, whose instances are only created, touched once a few seconds later and then never touched again.
    This raises a few questions:
    - What does "Beans In Use Current Count" exactly mean? What beans are in the cache? Obviously it is not the count of beans in use by currently running transactions: the JTA monitor does not show any inflight transactions. And there are no transactions that use more than, say, a couple of dozen beans, anyway.
    - Is it possible that the server does not release the beans from the cache after completed transactions? If so: can it happen that it does not reuse them?
    - Do you have any other ideas how to diagnose this problem?
    Regards,
    Björn

  • Max beans in cache

    Hi ,
    I have the following parameter set in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml for a statefulsession bean.
    ==================================================
    stateful-session-cache>
    <max-beans-in-cache>2</max-beans-in-cache>
    <idle-timeout-seconds>600</idle-timeout-seconds>
    </stateful-session-cache>
    ==================================================
    I then create more than 2 requests(approx 10) to the stateful session bean for which the above parameter is set.
    In EJB-MONITORING-Stateful Ejbs I have the following fields set from the customize view:
    Activation Count
    Passivation Count
    Cache Access Count
    Cache Miss Count
    Cached Beans Current Count
    EJB Name
    My understanding is that no more than 2 beans should appear in the Cached Beans Current Count.If the request is sent from more than 2 browsers invoking the stateful bean I should get Invocation Target exception.
    But upon sending requests from more than 2 browsers invoking the same session bean I see that :
    count of Cached Beans Current Count = number of browsers/clients from where the request is coming.
    There is no exception.
    Kindly clarify my understanding.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    if you give some number in <max-beans-in-cache>number</max-beans-in-cache>.Then Weblogic Server going to create that many number of objects initially .
    In case of statefull SessionBeans, If you give 3 ,Then Server creates 3 objects for that bean to provide service to the 3 clients at a time .
    Whenever it receives the 4 requests at a time then three request's will be served at a time and 4th request will wait until the server passivate any object out of 3 in some persistant storage and create the object for 4th client.
    it will not throw any exception or error if we sent more than number of requests which we were mention in max-beans-in-cache.

  • Clustering newbie WLS6.1

    Okay, so my first attempts at clustering aren't going too well...
              I have a single Sun box with WLS 6.1 SP3 installed.
              On the box I have:
              One Admin server listening on 7001
              One Managed server listening on 7002
              One Managed server listening on 7003
              Firstly is this okay?
              Then I have a cluster with just the two managed servers inside it.
              I have a stateless session EJB. I have configured the .xml to
              indicate clusterable and deployed it to the two managed servers, and
              also the cluster...
              So when I send requests to the server it doesnt seem to round-robin
              the requests. I thought that even if I sent all requests to 7002 the
              cluster aware stub should round robin to 7003?
              I monitor whether it was load balanced by looking at the console under
              the EJB, 'monitor all stateless EJBRuntimes'. Here I can see that the
              EJB appears on both managed servers with correct number of idle beans
              on each server, but the transactions commited only goes up on one of
              the servers(7002).
              I know I must be missing something obvious here but just cant find any
              docs/postings that help.
              Any sugestions?
              Thanks
              Peter

              > Firstly is this okay?
              No, in 6.x, you managed servers must be listening on the same port. Also,
              typically 7002 is the default SSL port, so make sure you haven't used the
              same port for both ListenPort and SSLListenPort.
              Make sure that each managed server is listening on a different IP address.
              In WLS7.0 you can use different ports.

              Use a DNS name in your ClusterAddress that maps to both IP addresses for
              your managed servers. In the URL for your remote client, you should use
              t3://<clusterDNSname>:<port> - e.g., if my managed servers are listening on
              port 8000 and my ClusterAddress is "mycluster" then I would use
              t3://mycluster:8000 in my URL.

  • Monitoring Stateful EJBs

    Hi,
    When monitoring Stateful EJBs the first column, "Cached Beans Current Count",
    assume negative values.
    Why this happens?
    Thanks,
    Denis Macedo

    Hi,
    if you give some number in <max-beans-in-cache>number</max-beans-in-cache>.Then Weblogic Server going to create that many number of objects initially .

  • Monitoring EJB from another application

    Hi!
    Let's say: We have some EJB deployed of Application Server. Each EJB (doesn't metter if session or entity) has its methods that can be called. (All EJB are in the same application)
    Can I from another application see what methods has been called and at what time? I can extend monitored application with its log files, but want to use application to be monitored as is.
    I guess it depends on Application Server functionality. I would like to do it on SUN reference implementation (from J2EE SDK). If there is another App Server (the best free one) please note.
    I would be very thankfull for any answer.
    Marcin

    You could use the opensource EJB-container JBOSS and modify the source to perform logging of when a particular method was called etc.
    This will enable you to run the application as is with no modifications.
    Morten.

  • JDEV 10.1.3 EJB 3.0 Is it a way in JDev to monitor the sql generated

    Is it a easy way to monitor/log the sql generated by top link (ejb 3.0 with top link as cmp) directly in JDeveloper (embededd oc4j)

    Deleting the bean class sources from JDev don't delete the compiled class and the wizard will add a sequential number to the entity bean name and source file. This is not very convenient. As workaround you will have to delete the class file.

  • Is it possible to monitor all calls into all EJBs deployed on a server?

    Is there any way of monitoring all calls into the EJBs deployed in a server?
    I'd like to be able to externally log the calls, and perhaps do some monitoring at the call level, without modifying the EJBs themselves. Something along the lines of servlet filters for servlets, but for EJBs instead..
    JBoss has a nice plugin interface, and one could either extend the Logging plugin, or write another one, that can do this.
    But is there an analog in other J2EE servers (e.g. weblogic and websphere)? Or is that a standard or clever way of intercepting all calls? (I suppose one could use Ethereal, but I was hoping for a higher-level solution).

    Hi,
    In JBoss they use Log4J to log and intercept the Bean calls and JDBC calls. You can use Log4J to do the same with other servers also, cause I configured OC4J(Oracle 9iAS) Server to use log4J and it worked for me. I think other servers can also be configured to use log4j. I've only tried this with JBoss and OC4J. I don't have much experience with other servers.
    So, my advise is : try LOG4J and try to configure server to use LOG4J
    Hope this works!
