Hi All,
i am trying to develop a demo EJB project in Eclipse 3.2 so after it i can use it in some other demo project.....i am not developing a adapter module.....i am developing a simple EJB project by implementing SessionBean only.
now i am facing a problem that i am not able to see EJB Candidate in my EJB-Project, so i am not able to add my class file to ejb-jar xml file........i am also not able to see ejb-j2ee-engine.xml............
So can anybody help me to rectify this situation.
Thanks,

Hi Wang,
i am not developing a adapter module......i am developing just a demo ejb project in Eclipse 3.2 for using it in another java prj.....well my above problem is resolved now...........
now i am facing the below issue:
i created a jar file for my ejb project...........then i imported that jar file in a new java prj, then i am able to instantiate that ejb class in the main method of the new java prj.........
In the window i can also see all methods of the ejb class.........
My ejb-jar xml file is having the below content:
<ejb-jar id="ejb-jar_ID" version="2.1" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/ejb-jar_2_1.xsd">
<description>Hello World EJB description</description>
<display-name>prjHelloWorldEJB</display-name>
<enterprise-beans>
<ejb-name>HelloWorldEJB</ejb-name>
<ejb-class>pkgHelloWorldEJB.HelloWorldEJB</ejb-class>
<session-type>Stateless</session-type>
<transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
</enterprise-beans>
</ejb-jar>
Like i declared a function:
public String strReturn(){
return "Hello JAVA EJB World";
When i called this function by obj.strReturn() then no compilation error was there.
<b>But when i run this JAVA prj application, it gave error java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: pkgEJB/ClassEJB
at pkg.class.main of JAVA prj application.</b>
Can anybody suggest me what should i do to rectify this situation.

Creating EJB 3.0 project using Eclipse - Urgent
Hi,
Im new to EJB 3.0 and i need a urgent help please. I have created a EJB Project that uses JPA to Fetch data from Oracle 10g DB. But the problem is how to i get this project connect to DB? where do i need to do the Datasource maping and what would be the params? an example would be of real help? (On Deployment i get jta-datasource not found error)
I have also created a Enterprise Application Project. Do i have to do the Datasource mapping here?
I also want to create a Axis Webservice for a class that i have in my EJB Project. Can i create it in Eclipse. If so how can I?
Please share any helpful link or tutorial or Example.
I have tried google search and tried many blogs but no luck.
[EJB 3.0 + Axis Web Services + Eclipse + Jboss ]

PrateekStart by getting the Java EE tutorial at least v5 (it's free) and reading the sections that you are unclear about.
Basically you need to create a persistence.xml file that names a JDBC resuource. This is usually just the JNDI name of a resource that is configured on a server.
You then configure a datasource on your server that contains the actual DB connection settings and name it the same as the name in the persistence.xml.
The Java EE tutorial has sections that explain all of this.
Also, if you are starting out, I would not advise using tools to autogenerate projects/artifacts.
Doing it manually helps you understand how things work better. -

How to create an EJB Module using Eclipse
Hi,
How do I create a single EJB module and make a deployable EJB jar? I already have a existing source directory that contains the java files and the deployment descriptor. I am using Eclipse Ganymede 3.4 and Weblogic 9.2.
Thanks.
Edited by: user10387019 on Dec 9, 2008 1:39 PMStart out by creating an empty EJB project using the EJB Project wizard. Make sure to specify your WebLogic 9.2 installation as target runtime on the first page of the wizard. If your EJB source code is plain spec-compliant EJB, then your project is ready. If you are using WLS EjbGen technology, then you will also need to enable that feature on the project. You can do that at project creation by clicking the Modify button next to the Configuration combo on the first page of the wizard and then selecting WebLogic EJB Gen Support facet.
Once the project is created, you are ready to import your source. You have several choices here. You can either copy your source into the src directory created for you or you can delete that source directory and link to a source directory elsewhere on the file system. To do the latter, right click on the project and select properties. Go to Java Build Path and select the Source tab. Remove the existing source directory. Then click on Link Source button and point to your existing source directory.
That should be all that's necessary. Hope that helps.

Hi!
Trying to develop ejb 3 project. No problem creating ejb3 session beans.
But I'm not able to enable JPA facet in ejb project. Only supported in web project.
Can this be true? Is support for EJB 3/JPA still lacking even in 10.3 version?
Very disapointing....
Regards,
JesperTo clarify...
There is no support for JPA in EJB projects in Workshop. Workshop JPA tools can only be used in web projects.
Base Eclipse, however, comes with a different set of JPA tools that can be used with EJB or Utility projects. Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) works with this JPA toolset (unlike Workshop). Version 1.0 of OEPE is already available (see link that Danny provided). The next version of OEPE (available in Q1 of 2009) will include additional JPA functionality that is even better than similar functionality currently available in Workshop. All of the new JPA functionality coming in the next OEPE release will be supported for Web, EJB and Utility projects.
Hope this helps.

MichaelHi Michael,
I have heard of (and experienced) a number of different issues with NWDS SP15. Rather than trying to fight it, you could try installing SP16 or SP17 and see if that solves the problem.

Impoting Jdeveloper project into Eclipse 4.7 juno
can i impot Jdeveloper project into Eclipse 4.7 juno????please help me.
You can manually configure a JDeveloper project to use in Eclipse. The process depends on the type of project and technologies being used.
Is it an "EJB Project" and if so, are you using JPA? Or is it a "Web Project"? Are you using ADF?
Eclipse and Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) have corresponding project types that you can use to set up your Eclipse environment for the JDeveloper project. There are multiple way you could configure an Eclipse project with the source from your JDeveloper project. You could just create a new Eclipse project then copy your JDeveloper source files into the src folder of the new Eclipse project and "refresh" the project.
If you are trying to maintain the same project structure and some level of interoperability, you can create an Eclipse project with the same folder structure as the existing project. For example, using OEPE and following the steps below would help to configure a JDeveloper Web Project that uses JSF as a "Dynamic Web Project" in Eclipse. Basically, you'll create a new project to overlay your existing project, modifying the default Eclipse project structure to map it to the underlying structure of the JDeveloper project. The process will read/import the existing source files and add Eclipse metadata to the project.
- Copy your JDeveloper project to your Eclipse workspace or a location where you want to maintain the project as an Eclipse project.
- With OEPE, create a new "Dynamic Web Project" and use the name/location of the JSF web project from JDev.
- In the "New Dynamic Web Project" wizard,...
- click "modify" to update the configuration and include the desired "JavaServer Faces" version, and project facets for other technologies such as JSTL and "Oracle ADF Web".
- you can create an EAR project and select a configuration option to add your Dynamic Web Project to the EAR.
- change the "Default output folder" from "build\classes" to "classes" which is what the default output directory is in JDev.
- in the "Web Module" page of the wizard, change the "Content directory" field from 'WebContent' to 'public_html' to match the default value in JDeveloper.
- I think there's an option to generate the web.xml deployment descriptor that is selected by default and you can override to so that it is not selected and the process will not overwrite your existing web.xml.
After completing the remaining pages of the wizard, the process will generate the required Eclipse metadata to the project and will refresh the project so that it now contains all the src and web content files from the underlying sub folders.
This is just a rough example and you may have to do some additional configurations for dependent libraries or hand edits of some descriptor files, etc. -
Can't use JPA facet in a Workshop 10.3 EJB project
Greetings,
I'm using Oracle Workshop for WebLogic 10.3 to migrate an enterprise application from JBoss 5.0 to WebLogic 10.3. I'm a bit confused as, while I can add the JPA facet to a Dynamic Web project, I cannot do the same with an EJB project. I'd need to take advantage of the IDE automatic facets management instead to manually dealing with libraries and dependencies. I beleive that this is the reason these facets exist. However, after having created a EJB 3.0 project, it is impossible to add to it the JPA facet. I had to define the JPA entities in a Dynamic Web project as this is the only one to which I can add the JPA facet. This is not regular. Additionally, the SLSB facades may only be defined in an EJB project. They reference the JPA entities in the Dynamic Web project which, given the class loading hierarchy, is not possible. So my question is: how is one supposed to use JPA with WTP projects ?
Many thanks in advance for any help,
NicolasThis isn't supported in Workshop 10.3 and prior, the JPA tooling only works with Dynamic Web Projects in those releases to my knowledge.
I think this changed in OEPE 11g. Check out this article that shows JPA being used in the context of a Utility Project:

Importing a Project into Eclipse
Hi Folks,
My collegue just zipped up a flex project and emailed it to
me. I'm trying to get it set up in my own Eclipse/FlexBuilder, and
could sure use a little guidance, since I'm new to all this.
First, shall I create a new Eclipse workspace for this
project?
Then what? The File | Import function demands that I create a
"New Project". But if I create a flex project, it creates a whole
bunch of files that will just be over-written when I unzip the
*real* project. Which will probably corrupt somebody's view of the
project.
If, instead, I create a new project, and Import into that,
well, what sort of project should I create?
And where do I point my workspace directory? Anywhere seems
to do, but should it point to the place where I unzip the real
project files?
And finally, is there some documentation that covers these
basic mechanics? This just seems far far far more complicated than
it needs to be, and a simple explanation of how to set up new and
exlisting Eclipse/Flex projects would be a great help.
Thanks,
ws
p.s. If anyone has a Team Server plugin for Eclipse, please
let me know. That too would be a great help!Question 1) does your ziped project have .project file inside
of it?
1) if (Yes)
you dont need to create new project
open Eclipse click file -> Import ...
in a dialog open Plus sign next to general and select
"Existing projects into workspace". click next
next window you need to browse to directory where you have
unzipped your project (make sure you select directory that has
.project file inside ) after clicking ok in browser dialog eclipse
should recognize it as project and lastly you will see eclipse
displays that as a project you can select , so select it and click
finish , thats it all should be done.
2) if your zipped project does not have .project file :
before doing anything you need to analyze the directory
structure, does it have WEB-INF in it does it have src etc , if you
can at least shortly outline that directory structure it would be
lot easier to tell you how to get it working.
it look slike that you are trying to create non basic flex
project?

And if so, did you install the version that was built against Apache 2.2. Subclipse is built against ver 2.0 and if you have the wrong version of the APR libraries included in your path then this causes eclipse to crash.
My solution was to uninstall the commandline tools built against Apache 2.2 and reinstall those that are built against version 2.0
Thats what I found anyway. -

How can I create a new EJB project ?
Hi,
I downloaded the trial version and I don't know how to create an EJB project ?
When I create a new project, I've only the web template to choose.
Where can I find informations about that ?
Thanks.
jackHi Jack,
This version of the Creator allows you to build applications which access existing EJB's, but doesn't create new EJB's from scratch. We are looking into that for future releases.
If you want to access an existing EJB, please see the tutorials:
http://devservices.sun.com/premium/jscreator/standard/learning/tutorials/sessionEJBcomps.pdf
I believe the Sun Java Studio Standard product can help you create EJB's today, if that's what you need:

Not able to create a new Flex project in Eclipse
I am trying to use Flex Builder 3 eclipse plug-in for
development. But while creating a new Flex project in eclipse, I'm
getting the following error:
Template template.jst.web has not bee defined.
I am using Eclipse 3.3, and have installed the latest WTP
updates. Can someone point out what I'm missing here?
Thanks!Hi clsung,
Do you get this error on every Flex Project you are trying to
create or just on Java/J2EE projects? Flex Builder beta doesn't
support WTP 2.0 but this shouldn't affect the other kind of
projects.

Opening java project in eclipse environnement
Hi all,
I use eclipse environnement for java programming. I cannot open my project in eclipse, even if I specify the workspace. When I open eclipse in the specified workspcae, I cannot clic on the option "open project". Does anyone know how to open one projet in eclipse !!!!!
Thanks a lot for any help ...
javaFriendlyProbably best to ask in the Eclipse forums, yes?
However.....I guess your Eclipse project might have got corrupted or something, so (assuming your source files are still okay), backup your .java files somewhere else, delete the project directory and, in Eclipse, create a new project with the same name and then move over all your files back over. Has worked for me on a couple of occasions. -
How to call external jar files in EJB project for CE
Hi,
I would be thankful if someone could help me with this -
I need to call the external jar files into my EJB project - Here is what I have done and am getting runtime exception as -
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
1. Created a EJB project" HelloWorld " using Java perspective in NWDS 7.1 called with client as HelloWorldClient and EAR project as HelloWorldEAR.
2. Am working on HelloWorld project (1st one).
3. In my code I am instantiating a class which is a class in one of the external jar file that I need to refer in my project.
4. I have set the Java Build path but it works only for the compile time and fails during runtime.
5. Have read I need to create external library DC and refer in my project "HelloWorld".
Can anyone help me with exact steps what needs to be done - during creation of external library project and then for my "HelloWorld" EJB project. How would I be able to reference or set the external library project in my EJB project?
Looking forward to hear from experts.
Thanks,
Shiv
Edited by: Shiv Khullar on Aug 30, 2010 9:39 PMHi Edson,
I tried it , but it still gives me runtime exception.
javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/glance/pdf/pt/PTDoc
Steps I performed are -
1. Created a library project and created 2 Public parts "Compilation" and "Assembly"
2. Build the library project.
Now in my EJB project using Project Explorer - set the classpath and added both compilation jar and assembly jar files.
This is how the classpath entries for external library looks like -
<classpathentry kind="lib" path="/LocalDevelopmentLocalDevelopmentexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarkingdemo.sap.com/gen/default/public/WatermarkAssembly/lib/java/demo.sap.comexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarking~WatermarkAssembly.jar"/>
<classpathentry kind="lib" path="/LocalDevelopmentLocalDevelopmentexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarkingdemo.sap.com/gen/default/public/WatermarkCompilation/lib/java/demo.sap.comexternallibrarypdftoolsforwatermarking~WatermarkCompilation.jar"/>
I have also added the jar files I used in my external library project as "User Library" from Java Build Path . I dont do it , then the code fails during compilation itself.

Shiv
