Ejb2.1 Implementation

Will the ejb2.1 and J2EE 1.4 be implemented as part of the future release in S1AS?
If so, is there any approxiamte release date?
regards,
Nasser

Yes, we will support J2EE 1.4 in a future release of the Sun ONE Application Server; however, we have not announced a specific release date at this time.

  • Local Session Bean calling another local Session Bean in EJB 3.0

    Hi,
    In EJB 3.0, I am trying to do JNDI lookup of a local sesion bean from another session bean's helper class.
    I am not using @EJB injection mechanism here, as call to the local session bean is made in a helper class. Helper classes do not support resource injection.
    Following are the EJB class definitions used in my project. Call to "EJB3Local" made from "EJB1" fails as the "EJB2" helper class is calling "EJB1Local"
    @Stateless
    @EJBs({@EJB(name="EJB2Local", beanInterface=EJB2Local.class),
    @EJB(name="EJB3Local", beanInterface=EJB3Local.class)})
    public class EJB1 implements EJB1Remote, EJB1Local{
    public void findEJB3Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup for EJB3Local ----
    //2. EJB3Local.someFunction()
    @Stateless
    @EJB(name="EJB1Local", beanInterface=EJB1Local.class)
    public class EJB2 implements EJB2Remote, EJB2Local{
    public void findEJB1Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup EJB1Local
    // 2. Call EJB1Local.findEJB1Local method
    @Stateless
    public class EJB3 implements EJB3Remote, EJB3Local{
    public void someFunction(){}
    A remote call to EJB2.findEJB1Local() will invoke EJb1Local.findEJB3Local method and the call fails with "java:comp/env/EJB3Local" not found in EJB1Local.
    Has anybody encountered an issue like this issue with local interface calling another local interface?
    Thanks,
    Mohan

    To refer a Ejb from another Ejb include <ejb-ref> element
    in ejb-jar.xml
    <session>
    <ejb-name>SessionBeanA</ejb-name>
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>SessionBeanB</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome</home>
    <remote>com.ejb.SessionBeanB</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    </session>
    Include a <reference-descriptor> in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>SessionBeanA</ejb-name>
    <reference-descriptor>
    <ejb-reference-description>
    <ejb-ref-name>SessionBeanB</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome</jndi-name>
    </ejb-reference-description>
    </reference-descriptor>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    In SessionBeanA Bean class refer to SessionBeanB with
    a remote reference to SessionBeanB.
    InitialContext initialContext=new InitialContext();
    SessionBeanBHome sessionBeanBHome=(SessionBeanBHome)
    initialContext.lookup("com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome");
    SessionBeanB sessionBeanB=sessionBeanBHome.findByPrimaryKey(primarykey);
    sessionBeanB.update();
    sessionBeanB.getAll();

  • Local session bean lookup in another local session bean in EJB 3.0

    Hi,
    I am doing JNDI lookup of a local session bean in a session bean. ( I do not want to use EJB dependency injection).
    Lookup of local interface from session bean is successful. But, when the calling session bean is a local session in another session bean, the lookup fails.
    Here is an example:
    @Stateless
    @EJBs({@EJB(name="EJB2Local", beanInterface=EJB2Local.class),
    @EJB(name="EJB3Local", beanInterface=EJB3Local.class)})
    public class EJB1 implements EJB1Remote, EJB1Local{
    public void findEJB3Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup for EJB3Local ----
    //2. EJB3Local.someFunction()
    @Stateless
    @EJB(name="EJB1Local", beanInterface=EJB1Local.class)
    public class EJB2 implements EJB2Remote, EJB2Local{
    public void findEJB1Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup EJB1Local
    // 2. Call EJB1Local.findEJB1Local method
    //THIS METHOD CALL WILL FAIL.
    public void findEJB1Remote(){
    //1. JNDI lookup EJB1
    / 2. Call EJB1Local.findEJB1 method
    @Stateless
    public class EJB3 implements EJB3Remote, EJB3Local{
    public void someFunction(){}
    This setup was working in EJB 2.1, as we had clear ejb-local-ref definitions in our ejb-jar.xml file.
    I am suspecting that EJB 3.0 has special annotation to use when lookup is made from another local session bean.
    Any comments will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mohan

    From a private component environment perspective, declaring @EJB in a bean class is equivalent
    to using ejb-ref or ejb-local-ref for that same bean in ejb-jar.xml. In each case, the EJB dependency
    is declared for that bean. Each EJB component has its own private component environment, so
    code running within invocations on different EJBs can not see the component environment of the
    components that made the invocations.
    What exact error are you getting? Please post the stack trace if possible.

  • What is diff of two method

    Hi,
    If I cache the Remote reference of an EJB in my ejb class level member variable,
    am I pointing to the same EJB reference always?
    Please read the below two approaches. (assuming all bean is a
    stateless bean).
    In case of approach 1, the remote reference's scope is till
    the life cycle of the class and does it really points to the
    same remote bean always?
    which one is high performance?
    What is the diffrerence of this two?
    Thanks much,
    ananth
    Approach 1:
    public class Ejb1 implements SessionBean {{
    MyBeanRemote remote = null;
    public void ejbCreate() throws CreateException {
    MyBeanHome home = homeFactory.getHome( "MyBean" );
    remote = home.create(); // create the bean and store it
    public void foo() {
    int result = remote.addAmount( 10, 20 );
    public void foo1() {
    int result = remote.multiplyAmount( 10, 20 );
    Approach 2:
    public class Ejb2 implements SessionBean {
    MyBeanHome home = null;
    public void ejbCreate() throws CreateException {
    MyBeanHome home = homeFactory.getHome( "MyBean" );
    public void foo() {
    MyBeanRemote remote = home.create();
    int result = remote.addAmount( 10, 20 );
    public void foo1() {
    MyBeanRemote remote = home.create();
    int result = remote.multiplyAmount( 10, 20 );
    }

    It depends on the type of the target bean. Based on your example I'm assuming the target bean is a state*less* session bean. In that case, whether you call create once or 100 times, all the references will be pointing to the same bean. For stateless session beans, create() is merely a hint to the container. It doesn't necessarily mean a new bean instance is created in the server. Each time an actual method invocation is performed, the container chooses a target bean instance and invokes it.
    If the target bean were a state*ful* session bean, then each individual Home.create() results in a separate bean.
    Regarding your example, the performance difference isn't necessarily going to be huge. It's certainly nice to reduce the amount of remote invocation overhead, so from that perspective approach 1 is better. It's also less code, which is never a bad thing either :-;

  • Implementation Difference b/w CMP1.1 and CMP2.0

    Hello Java gurus,
    Can any body help me in understanding the difference between CMP1.1 and CMP2.0 implementation. As per to EJB 2.0 specification, which says, In EJB 2.0 a container-managed entity bean is defined to be abstract and its persistent fields are not defined directly in the bean class. Instead, an abstract persistent schema has been developed that lets the bean provider declare the persistent fields and bean relationships indirectly, while in EJB1.1 spec, the persistent fields were defined in the bean class directly. I am unable to understand why in EJB 2.0 the persistent fields needs to be accessed thru setters/getters n not directly. What i can achieve by doing this?? Whether it is responsible for making relationship between various EJBs?? If yes then how does this will help to maintain a relationship between ejbs like one to one, one to many, and many to many. Because the relationship between beans whatever relationship it is) is defined in the deployment descriptor file. So if i am using the EJB1.1 approach for developing CMPs, i can still add those xml tags which establishes the relationship between EBJs. Can't I ???
    I just read one from java world site on "New In EJB2.0" but really unable to understand the problem which i have mentioned above. I am confused. Plz explain.
    Tx in Advance

  • Application Server Supporting EJB2.0

    Hi
    I am using Websphere4.0 as well as Weblogic 5.1 .
    I want application server which support EJB2.0 spec (especially i want to try out LocalInterface Examples.)
    I want evaluation copy which i can down load.
    I have installed J2EE server 1.3 : For this can anybody tell me about Jars to be set in Class-Path.
    Thanx

    You can try Oracle Containers for J2EE (OC4J) at otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j
    this is a J2EE compliant server. But still have an whole implentation about EJB 2.0 (OC4J Developer Preview), However you can try Local interface, CMR, and other features EJB 2.0-specific.
    OC4J is 100% Java implemented. You can launch the OC4J server separately or embebed in the Oracle9iAS (Oracle9i App. Server).

  • What is the Benefit of EJB2.0 CMP when using BC4J?

    I see much being made of the ability to use BC4J in conjunction with EJB2.0 CMP, but I am unclear of the benefits of doing so as I had understood that BC4J can effectively take care of persistance? There must be more to it no?

    The new feature we introduced in BC4J for 9.0.3 is the ability to use the BC4J "data model" components -- our View Object and Application Module -- against EJB 2.0 CMP entity beans. It is targeted for developers who have already decided, before coming to the BC4J framework, to implement their business domain classes as EJB 2.0 CMP entity beans with local interfaces, and allows them to take advantage of the "top-half" of the BC4J framework's major functionality related to client data-binding.
    At present, there isn't really a benefit per se of using EJB 2.0 CMP entity beans, you actually lose a number of interesting application-building features that the simple BC4J entity object classes give you. The BC4J entity object saves you the trouble of having to worry about persistence, too, like the CMP entity bean, with a declarative deployment-descriptor-based approach, too. However if you have made the choice for using EJB 2.0 CMP entity beans, then there definitely IS benefit in combining them with the BC4J Data Model layer features because this saves you time in building your client user interfaces.
    We are working for future releases with the OC4J team who are participating in the EJB specification's future editions to try and incorporate into an evolution of the entity beans spec, a number of the added value features that BC4J entity objects offer for simplifying common application-building tasks, but that will take some time to accomplish in practice.

  • Oc4j and EJB2.0: not really?

    Hello
    Some colleagues and I are trying to port a large project from JBOSS to OC4J. We used JBOSS 3.0 (beta) in order to evaluate EJB2.0 features and see if we could use it. We already have OC4J in production, but only as a JSP/Servlet container. The next step would be to deploy our EJB application to OC4J.
    We have read the material and it is written that OC4J (developers preview) is EJB 2.0 compliant. However, the specific documentation and the examples don't show how to specify OC4J specifc XML files. We absolutely need CMR and Local Interfaces, because we don't have the time required to downgrade our JBoss EJB2.0 application to the EJB 1.1 specification. We have over 80 Session Beans and over 20 Entity Beans.
    Is there anybody there that can confirm that OC4J developer's preview is really EJB2.0 compliant? If so, could you send me some pointers to information about OC4J container specifc deployment descriptors? The docs listed at the web site don't have EJB2.0 features listed, nor does the Oracle samples.
    Thanks for your attention,
    desperately,
    Luis Fernando Soeiro

    Hello Debu
    I've got alll howtos and I mangaged to get some parts of OC4J [Oracle9iAS (9.0.3.0.0) Containers for J2EE (build 020323.1689)] working.
    There are still some issues that are stalling our development. Could you please comment on them, maybe providing an estimate of when they will be solved/implemented?
    First of all, a little background. Our application uses many Java Swing application clients that connect to the EAR application in the container.
    The ear application has the following structure:
    All database access (Oracle 8i, located in its own server) is done exclusively by means of CMP entity beans. A entity bean may access other entity beans. There are workflow session beans (stateful and stateless) that access the entity beans. All clients see only the workflow session beans (session beans fagade).
    Our applicatoin is complex, having more than 80 session beans and more than 25 entity beans (not counting entity beans that exist only to represent relationships among entity beans).
    There goes the questions:
    1) It seems that entity beans cannot currently be referenced by remote interfaces. We couldn't deploy our application using it. Since we could use only local interfaces fot entity beans, thats what is been done now.
    2) There is no CMR supported. Is this true?
    3) EJBQL seems to be very limited. In the howto examples there are EJBQL statements that compare two numbers. However, when we tried to use String comparisons, it didn't work. Here is the statement:
    "SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(p) FROM Person p WHERE p.name = ?1"
    If I compile, package and deploy the ear applicatin with the above EJBQL statement, OC4J generates an exception when executing the finder method. The exception is:
    "java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException: Session has timed out
    at com.evermind.server.ejb.StatefulSessionEJBObject.throwPassivisat
    ception(StatefulSessionEJBObject.java:188)
    at Cad023Remote_StatefulSessionBeanWrapper0.obterPessoasPorParteNom
    023Remote_StatefulSessionBeanWrapper0.java:754)
    at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method)
    at com.evermind.server.rmi.RMICallHandler.run(RMICallHandler.java:8
    at com.evermind.util.ThreadPoolThread.run(ThreadPoolThread.java:64)"
    If I remove the where clause, the expection is gone. However, I get all records. ;-)
    4) It seems that all EJBQL clauses must be capitalized. Is this true?
    FINALY)
    Is there a newer OC4J build that could use to get the development going? Do you know where there will be one? Is there any way of contacting the OC4J development team to report bugs?
    If you would like, we could discuss it in private e-mail (please use my private mail [email protected]).
    Thanks for your attention,
    Luis Fernando Soeiro
    Hi !! OC4J 9.0.3 developer's preview has most features of EJB 2.0. We are working on updating on our docs and samples for EJB 2.0
    Please look at the following URL that has some How Tos on EJB 2.0 features such Local Interfacea, EJB QL, etc : http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/htdocs/oc4j-how-to.html#ejb

    The version ejb2.1 suggests WE can create MDB without
    JMS.
    Can any one suggests me some documents and some
    sample programs related TO Generic MDB with ejb2.1They're not "generic", because in all cases they have to replace the MessageListener interface with some other particular type.
    For example, for a JAXM -MDB,you must implement OneWayListener or ReqRespListener.
    Here's one example where MDB is used as an email listener.

  • Training and Event Management Implementation based on competencies

    Dear Friends,
    My client is going ahead for Training and Event Managment Implementation. They have a basic requirement to start with and that is :
    1) They have done competency mapping for all its employees and they want that the competencies of each employees(along with the skill levels) to be recorded in the system and that has to be the starting point of using Training and Event Management module.
    2) They want, if the competencies can flow based on Job/ Position.
    3) Some identifier to the competencies, whther it has flowed from Appraisal or any other sources in the Final Training Needs.
    Kindly provide me help, as to how I will be able to achieve that and in what Infotypes the data pertaining to Training and Event Managment will be stored.
    If u all can kindly share with me the User Manuals and Configuration Docs of Training and Event Management, it will be of great help.
    Thank you all.

    Hi,
    Competencies can be stored as qualifications in PD and then by activation of PD PA intergration can be seen from pa30 infotype 24.
    Qualifications can be stored against a Job/Position and are called as the Requirements. They are seen as a separate Tab and to which ever position the person is linked to the corresponding qualifications of the position will appear in the requirements tab.
    You can maintain the proficiency and a note along with the qualification when assigned to a person.
    Also Appraisals can have qualifications in the template rather than criteria and criteria groups.
    Also after training is completed during the follow up we can create an appraisal and transfer the qualifications or simply transfer the qualifications to the employee.

    Divya

  • How can I implement a status bar at the bottom of a resizable application?

    Hello all,
    I am a JavaFx newbie and I am implementing an application (a Sokoban game), with a menu at the top of the frame and a gaming area covering the rest of the frame. To support the game, I have to load images at certain positions in the gaming area.
    The game also includes a level editor with another menubar and where images are set to other positions.
    I implemented this in another view, swiching from the game mode to the level editor mode and vice versa is just done by setting the other view visible. Up to now this works, here the important statements building these details:
    Group root = new Group();
    gameView = new Group(); // for gaming mode
    le_view = new Group()   // for level editor mode
    MenuBar gameMenubar = new MenuBar();
    Menu menuGame = new Menu(bundle.getString("MenuGame"));
    ... building the menu items and menues ...
    gameView.getChildren().add(gameMenubar);
    ImageView buildingView[][] = new ImageView[22][22];
    for (nCol = 0; nCol < 22; nCol++) {
        for (nRow = 0; nRow < 22; nRow++) {
            buildingView[nCol][nRow] = new ImageView();
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setX(nCol * 26 + 5);
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setY(nRow * 26 + 40);
            gameView.getChildren().add(buildingView[nCol][nRow]);
    gameView.setVisible(true);
    root.getChildren().add(gameView);
    ... same stuff to build the le_view ...
    le_View.setVisible(false);
    root.getChildren().add(le_View);
    Scene scene = new Scene(root, 800, 600, Color.CORNSILK); Now I want to introduce a status bar at the bottom of the frame, which of course has to follow the bottom of the frame, if it is resized. And of course the menu and the status bar should not grow vertically, if the height of the frame is increased.
    The implementation seems to be easy with StackPane for the frame and one BorderPane for each mode.
    For the first step I only tried implementing the game mode with only one BorderPane (just setting the menu, the gaming area and the status bar each into a HBox and setting these three HBoxes at the top, into the center and at the bottom). I also tried this via GridPane and via VBox; I always get any erroneous behaviour:
    Either the menubar is visible, but the menus do not pop up the menu items, or the anchor point of the menu and of gaming area are set 100 pixels left of the left frame border and move into the frame when the frame width is increased, or the menu is set 20 pixels below the top of the frame, or HBox with the menu grows when the frame height is increased, so that the anchor point of the gaming area moves down.
    Can you describe me a correct construction of such a frame? Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Gerhard

    Hello Gerhard,
    Glad the code helped, thanks for a fun layout exercise.
    For the draft code I just pulled an icon off the internet over a http connection.
    If you haven't done so already place any icons and graphics you need local to your project, so that resource lookups like:
    Image img = new Image("http://www.julepstudios.com/images/close-icon.png");become
    Image img = new Image("close-icon.png");then performance may improve.
    Another possible reason for your performance problem could be that when you use a vbox, the vbox content can overflow the area of the borderpane center and might be sitting on top of the menu pane, making you unable to click the menu (which is what happens to me when I try that with the draft program with the vbox wrapping mod, then resize the scene to make it smaller). This was a trick which caught me and the reason that I used a Group originally rather than a vbox. I found a vbox still works but you need to tweak things a bit. The trick I saw was that the order in which you add stuff to the borderpane is important. The borderpane acts like a stack where the last thing added floats over the top of everything else if you size the scene small enough. For your project you want the menu on top always, so it always needs to be the last thing added to the borderpane, but when you swap in the level pane for the game pane, then back out again, the game pane can end up on top of the menu which makes the menu seem like you can't click it (only when the scene is sized small enough). It was quite a subtle bug which took me a little while to work out what was happening. For me the solution was to add just one vbox to the center of the border, and then swap the game pane and the level editor in and out of the vbox, that way the center of the layout always stayed behind the menu bar and the status bar.
    I added some revisions to reflect the comments above and placed some comments in the code to note what was changed and why.
    public class SampleGameLayoutRevised extends Application {
      public static void main(String[] args) { Application.launch(args); }
      public void start(Stage stage) throws Exception {
        final BorderPane gameLayout = new BorderPane();
        final Group gameView = new Group();
        final MenuBar gameMenubar = new MenuBar();
        final Menu gameMenu = new Menu("Mode");
        final VBox centerView = new VBox();
        centerView.setStyle("-fx-background-color: darkgreen");  // we set a background color on the center view to check if it overwrites the game menu.
        MenuItem playGameMenu = new MenuItem("Play Game");
        MenuItem levelEditMenu = new MenuItem("Edit Levels");
        gameMenu.getItems().add(playGameMenu);
        gameMenu.getItems().add(levelEditMenu);

  • Error while activating the Implementation class of a BADI ?

    Hello,
    I am trying to activate a BADIi but its implementation class(ZCL_IM_DSD_ADD_CUST_IN_DNL) is not getting activated and giving the following object error on activation.
    CPUB     ZCL_IM_DSD_ADD_CUST_IN_DNL
    and it says that  "INCLUDE report "ZCL_IM_DSD_ADD_CUST_IN_DNL====CL" not found , where "DSD_ADD_CUST_IN_DNL" is the Impl. name of the definition "/DSD/ME_BAPI"  implementing the interface "/DSD/IF_EX_ME_BAPI".
    what am i missing here. Big time help will be extremely appreciated ..
    Thanks a ton.

    Hi,
    I had a quick qn,
    Normally, the implementation name should start with Z. Can you create using the name 'DSD_ADD_CUST_IN_DNL' ? or are you using any access key (SSCR)?
    For the infm, I have just tried to create one Z  implementation in my system and it works fine. Could you please delete the current implementation and try it once again ?
    Regards,
    Selva K.

  • Weaknesses I've come across in the Oracle XML/XSL implementation

    Weaknesses I've come across in the Oracle XML/XSL implementation
    NOTE: I think Oracle is a fantastic database and the XML implementation is lovely to use - also I know these are not limited to XE and also that some are fixed in 11g enterprise however I'm not sure if all are so I am posting here in the hope that Oracle will include fixes for all if any have been missed
    1. getclobval() returns a spurious carriage return on end of the value returned
    2. extract does not handle mixed content tags well (for example it simply discards tags that only have whitespace between them
    3. XSL: using a xsl:number level="multiple" with anything beyond a simple count= xpath value crashes the database completely
    4. XSL: insists on pretty printing output XML which is extremely odd behaviour and causes problems when dealing with mixed content

    Another weakness I've seen is with the appendchildxml function and mixed content xml - it appears to likewise pretty print XML causing the injection of carriage returns and whitespace into mixed content nodes
