Eject DMG via the keyboard

Hi,
I was wondering if there's a way to bind the eject to both:
1) Eject media out of the SuperDrive as normal
and
2) Unmount DMG/ISO/Whatever image files which show up as a drive?
I know how to easilt do it via the mouse etc... but a keyboard showcut would be WAY easier as I'm a bit of a keyboard jocky.
In light of that, a pitfall I want to avoid is that I have other drives (timecapsule etc...) showing up there too, so those I don't want 'ejected' (unmounted), but just images.
Cheers,
A

Just to add, I've worked out that:
 + E = Eject a mounted device/file
Hope this helps others!

  • How can I control a hud interface via the keyboard?

    I can nowwhere find a way to control a HUD (heads-up display) via the keyboard
    any ideas?
    I do not like this at all...
    if I remember correctly old fashioned inspectors (like the one in the Finder by option selecting "Get Info") could be controlled via keyboard. Control F6
    Those were called "Floating window" and for it a keyboard shortcut could be defined in the Keyboard Preferences...
    I couldn't figure out yet how to "focus" a HUD. Well to correct: the HUD in Preview to change the color can be activated by Control F6, but the HUDs in Aperture I couldn't figure out yet
    any ideas?
    Michael

    I figured it out. Just make a full-screen invisible button
    and place it on a layer on each frame.
    For insatnce, Actions - Button for frame 2:
    on (keyPress "<PageDown>") {
    gotoAndStop (3);
    on (keyPress "<PageUp>") {
    gotoAndStop (2);
    sends the show forward to frame (slide) 3 with a press of the
    remote's "Next" button and sends it back to frame (slide) 1 with a
    press of the "Back" button.
    I have a Stop action on each frame.
    This allows me to control a Flash show just like a Powerpoint
    show. Cool.

  • IMac has stopped charging via the keyboard USB port when sleeping - why?

    I have a 2008 model 2.8GHz iMac with standard size aliminium keyboard. Historically, I have plugged my iPhone in to the USB port of the aliminium keyboard via the standard iPhone cable and when I put the iMac to sleep it continues to charge the iPhone.
    However, the keyboard USB port no longer keeps charging the iPhone when I put the iMac to sleep. The USB ports on the back still do, but not those on the keyboard. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution?

    Although I have never connected my iPod to the keyboard in the past, I can confirm this behavior. Previously my Mac was an Early 2006 iMac Core Duo with the white plastic Apple Keyboard, so the USB hub in the keyboard was USB 1.1 and not recommended for iPods. Now I have a new Early 2009 Mac mini with the aluminum Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad with the USB 2.0 hub.
    I can confirm that, based on the messages/symbols displayed on the iPod;
    1. an iPod connected to the USB 2.0 hub in the Apple Keyboard charges when the Mac is awake.
    2. an iPod connected to the USB 2.0 hub in the Apple Keyboard is ejected and no longer charges when the Mac is asleep.
    3. an iPod connected to a 3rd party, non-powered, USB 2.0 hub connected directly to a Mac USB port is ejected but continues to charge when the Mac is put to sleep.
    4. an iPod connected directly to a Mac USB port is ejected but continues to charge when the Mac is put to sleep.
    However, Benjamin, if you read the the 3rd comment from the bottom, of the discussion thread to which you have linked, the poster states that Apple engineers have confirmed to him that;
    1. with Mac OS X 10.5.6 a new power management scheme was implemented.
    2. an iPod connected to the USB 2.0 hub in the Apple Keyboard is ejected and no longer charges when the Mac is asleep, is now correct behavior under the new power management scheme.
    The drawback is that folks in that thread are reporting that not only does the iPod not charge, but that it is drained of power.

  • Newbie Mac user:  Selecting block of text via the keyboard only?

    Hi,
    I'm switching over to a Mac from a PC and haven't been able to find an answer to this question. How do I select a block of text only by using the keyboard?
    As an example, on the PC from wherever the cursor is in a document, if I then hit Ctrl-Shift-end, the entire rest of the document from the cursor down is selected. Another similar task would be to select all of the text from the cursor to the end of the line, which on the PC can be done with Shift-end.
    Are there Mac equivalents?
    Thanks.
    Les
    MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.10)
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    COMMAND-SHIFT-end to select from the cursor to the end of the line. COMMAND-SHIFT-pagedown selects from cursor to end of document, use pageup to select entire document.
    Other alternatives:
    Press SHIFT and use the right arrow key to select characters. Use OPTION-SHIFT and right arrow to select words. COMMAND-right arrow key moves cursor to end of line and OPTION-right arrow moves cursor to next word.

    In many instances wherever Windows uses CTRL in a shortcut the Mac uses COMMAND (Apple Key - ⌘)

  • R11i - Can tab pages be selected via the keyboard?

    On a form with multiple tab pages, is there a way to select a specific tab page using only the keyboard?
    I see that F2 will pop a small window listing the tab pages, but you still need the mouse to select one.
    And I don't want to press the TAB key thru all of the fields on a tab page to get to the next.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    Shan Pin Koh is correct...you can change the color of a Tab Control (from the "Array and Cluster" subpalette) with your paintbrush tool. There is currently no way to assign different colors to different pages, but this is a feature that will be available in the next release of LabVIEW.
    I hope this answer sheds some light on the situation for you. Have a pleasant day.

  • Eject button on the keyboard

    Is there any way that I can get the eject button on keyboard to work again?
    Thanks in advance,
    AP

    With the 10.4.10 update Apple introduced a half-second delay in the key to prevent accidental ejection. They did the same with the Caps Lock key on the aluminum keyboards though that may not work on earlier systems.

  • How to open a selected text link from the keyboard

    I'd like to be able to search for some text on a screen, and then open the link that it connects to. The catch is that I want to do so via the keyboard, i.e. without moving the mouse. It seems there should be a way to do this. I've tried every combination of <meta-key> + Return, and every combination of <meta-key> + Down Arrow I can think of, since that seems like a natural place to hide such a shortcut, but to no avail. Anyone know how to do this?

    select link =shift+arrow then=>the key next to start and besides cnrtl!

  • Controlling Startup Using the Keyboard ande Mouse

    In answer to an earlier post, I was given a method for switching startup disks at startup via the keyboard. Hold the control key down while starting.
    That particular startup key combination is not among the listed combinations in the apparently incomplete article on the Apple support site: Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts:
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75459>
    Go figure. How many others did they leave out, I wonder... holding the mouse button down on startup to open the CD drive is not listed, either.
    Does anyone have any idea where there is a complete list? TIA

    Hi, Roger!
    Some keyboard shortcuts aren't universal and don't work with all Mac models, like the Startup Manager (Option key during startup). Perhaps some commands were intentionally omitted from that particular listing for such reasons, rather than being unintentionally missed.
    Here are more/other key commands, if you're interested:

    Hello,
    I have a MacBook Pro Retina Maverick in 2013 on which I installed Windows via Boot Camp 8.1.
    The installation went well but when I am running Windows 8.1, I have a problem with "@" and "<" keys on the keyboard.
    When I type the "@" key, I get "<"
    When I type the "<" button, I get "@"
    I have reinstall Boot Camp from Windows 8.1 for reinstall the drivers and see if it would solve the problem but it was not the case.
    Someone of you has he encountered the same problem?
    Thank you.

  • Turning iMac DV 400 (G3 slot loader) on via the Apple Pro keyboard?

    I was looking at my iMac's Lowendmac profile (located here: http://lowendmac.com/imacs/400.shtml) when I noticed right at the bottom of the page under "Cautions" it mentions:
    "You must have the keyboard plugged directly into an iMac USB port to boot with the power key (Eject on the Apple Pro Keyboard); it will not work if the keyboard is attached to a hub."
    I never knew this. Before I got the iMac I had an old slow Performa LC630 and it did have a power key on the keyboard so when I went to the iMac I was a bit miffed to find the Pro keyboard didn't have such a feature (not that it mattered a great deal of course, I just always liked power buttons being on the keyboard).
    Reading this bit of info though obviously made me excited since in all these years that I've owned the iMac I never knew it could be turned on by pressing eject.
    I tried it. Nothing happened. The keyboard is plugged into the main USB panel on the actual iMac too, I tried both slots. No ball. Pressing the eject button doesn't turn the iMac on.
    Is this article simply incorrect or is there something I'm missing?

    Perhaps the article meant to indicate that those Apple USB keyboards having a power button and the Apple Pro keyboard having the media Eject key must be plugged directly into the computer's USB port and not into a hub, for functionality of those keys. If the Eject key served the same purpose as a Power button, I'd expect to get a prompt asking if I'd like to shut down the computer, every time I ejected a disk. I just connected a Pro keyboard to my iMac DV, and pressing the Eject key didn't power ON the computer.
