Eject function has disappeared on Lion

Hi,
I've recently made a clean install of Lion on my Mac Book Core 2 Duo 2,16 Black ( after having upgrading may Ram to 3Ghz)
The strange (and very boaring) thing is that I cannot eject DVD (or either virtual discs) except by rebooting and keeping the eject button hold.
Because :
There si no "eject" line in the File Finder menu.
There is nothing in the contextual menu.
Trying to us the eject button in the menu bar is not efficient.
Trying to use the cmd-E key is the same.
And, last but not least, there is no way to drag the icon into the trash…
Could anyone help me ?
Thanks
Antoine

Got it !!!
Answer comes from FrançoisMacG on forums.macgeneration.com (in french) :
go to the Library (Finder >  press alt),
then in Preferences,
trash the file    com.apple.finder.plist
and reboot.
It works fine.
Thanks a lot to all of you.
Antoine

My messaging function has disappeared from my iphone 5S, it's no longer in my settings & I have no messages icon. When I get a SMS message it shows in my notification screen with the heading com.apple.MobileSMS, it will not let me click into the message or reply. Please can anyone help?

Use the form on this page to request a free redownload, or use the Transfer Purchases feature. If neither of these works, you will need to purchase the songs and other content again to get them back; Apple needs to pay the copyright holders for each download from the iTunes Store other than podcasts and album artwork.

  • Device eject button has disappeared since updating to Maverick

Since I updated to the Maverick operating system, the eject button has disappeared from the iTunes page. How can i safely unplug the device?

    Hey cloudfarmer,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to know when you can successfully unplug your iPod.  This article show many different ways you can eject the iPod without using the eject icon.
    Safely disconnect iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1853
iPod can be safely disconnected by simply unplugging the cable if the iPod display shows any of the following screens:
    "Charging"
    "Ok to disconnect"
The iPod main menu with the Music, Settings, and Extras selections in addition to others
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • Version 30: I hit the bookmarks star & the search function has disappeared. Plus, the b/marks list covers part of the tab... can i get the search back?

FFox updated itself to version 30 -- most unfortunately as it happens. Until now, hitting the bookmarks star opened a window on the left with a search window on top & the list of bmarks following. The search window now has disappeared, and the bmarks list covers the actual page I am browsing...
Can I get the search function back? Maybe even put a stop to bmarks list maskign whatever I am browsing?
Alternatively, what other reputable browser can you recommend thereby ridding myself of this and any future destructive "improvements"?
    Thank you

  • My FCE Help function has disappeared

Does anyone know why my help function might have disappeared? I am using version 4.0.1 on my 21.5" new iMac. I have just bought the software too and made one software update. Since updating the software and clicking on Help, I am offered the user manual and various other links, but when I type in a help topic, anything at all, like "capturing video" for example, into the Search box, it tells me "No results found". Why would that be?

Try trashing the preferences like this:-

If you prefer a free app that will do it automatically try this:-

  • Drag and drop function has disappeared with 10.8.4

Just "upgraded" to 10.8.4. Now I cannot drag and drop between my email app (Powermail) and Path Finder. This is very crippling.
With Mountain Lion generally there was a problem with the interface, sometimes clicking on the red window button would not work, for instance. I haven't checked whether this is fixed in 10.8.4 but removing drag and drop between applications is a downgrade, not an upgrade.
Anyone have a solution to this loss of drag and drop (other than a 10.8.5)?

For what it's worth I just upgraded to 10.8.4 and individually dragged and dropped four emails from Apple Mail to trash successfully. I did notice that three of the emails simply disappeared from trash instantly once dropped into the bin and one remained in the bin but truly deleted once I clicked on "empty" in the now open trash folder.
I *think* I kept my finger pressing down on the trackpad for a bit longer with that last email which actually triggered the trash folder to open showing me that last email in the bin. Maybe my hesitation triggered this coding behavior as if this human might be making a mistake so OSX better open the folder reminding him he's initiated a permanent deletion ? ;-)

  • Windows has Disappeared in Lion

Last night I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion.
Now my Windows 7 Ultimate partition in Bootcamp is unavailable.  I don't get the option to launch into Windows when I start up and the partition isn't showing in the Disk Utility.  Disk Utility shows my 500 Gb Macintosh HD with only 380 Gb available, so I guess the 100 Gb Windows partition is still there, I just can't access or boot it - see attached pic.
I have used Bootcamp Assistant to download the Bootcamp 4 drivers for Windows and have burnt them to a disk but since I can't launch Windows, they aren't much use.
Please offer simple advice in step by step terms.
    Thanks

Just realised the error of my ways!
380 Gb available means 120 Gb has been used, so clearly my Windows partition is no more.
Now why can't I get Bootcamp to load it?

Well, if you did then you may be able to track it, if you did not it's not possible.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion bluetooth file has disappeared!

    Hi All,
Since upgrading my iMac from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion at the weekend the bluetooth folder in preferences has disappeared. My magic mouse doesn't work properly ie the 'touch' on top of the mouse no longer works for swiping or scrolling down.
I have checked on this forum and many others and the suggestions which seem to have worked for many are reset PRAM and trash the bluetooth plist folder of which I have tried and this still doesnt resolved the issue nor brought back the bluetooth file in preferences.
I am at my whits end with this and thoroughly disappointed that this has happened.
Has anyone got any other ideas of a known fix? Is Apple aware of this problem?
    Cheers

    Hi rkaufmann87,
Thanks for your advice. I ran the verify disk and it told me that my macintosh HD was corrupt and advised me to repair the disk (cmd R upon start up), so I did this and still no Bluetooth file in preferences.
Perhaps now I should reinstall  Mountain Lion?
    Thanks

Open General preferences in System Preferences. You can set the desired scrollbar behavior there.

  • Recently the close tab function in safari has disappeared.

Recently the close tab function in safari has disappeared and now I have to close tabs by right clicking, needless to say it's driving me mad. Is there a way I can sort this out?

My Safari tabs were missing the "x" close button as well.
What ended up working for me was ->Force Quit->Safari.
I noticed quitting Safari from the Dock does not completely close it out, and from the Safari->Quit Safari menu option is grayed out. Force quit seemed to be the only way to end it.
