Ejecting an SD card on Chromebook

I have a Chromebook and don't know how to remove a SD card. I've read click on External Hard Drive and will be prompted to eject SD Card. Where can I locate the External Hard Drive?
Thanks

Have you tried a quick, short inward push on the sd card? Usually that ejects it enough to grasp.

  • IPhoto ejected my memory card mid import but is saying that there is still an import in progress.  I can't close the program or shutdown my computer.

I was trying to import some photos (probably close to 300) and iphoto ejected my memory card in the middle of that process.  The photos have not been imported, and now I can't close iPhoto, or even shut down my computer (macbook pro) because it keeps saying that Iphoto is cancelling restarts.  I've tried to close the program but it doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get iphoto to shut down mid import?

  • Ejecting a PC Card

I have recently acquired a nice PowerBook G3 Wallstreet, with both OS 9.1 and 10.1 installed. Everything is working really well and I have the PowerBook setup for WiFi with a Macsense AeroCard. However, I can find no way to eject the card when using OS 10.1, which is bizarre. The eject buttons don't work and the card doesn't show up on the desktop the way it does in OS 9.1. It works, there's just no way to eject I can find when using OS 10.1. To eject the card, I've been re-booting into 9.1, where the card shows up and can be ejected using the Special menu or via the buttons. This is pretty weird, any ideas?
    TIA, Heather

    Heather,
I don't have my Wallstreet with me, but I believe in 10.x if you click on the PC card icon in the menu bar, there is the option to eject the PC card. And I believe you are correct that the manual eject buttons do not work in 10.x.
However, you can also insert an opened paperclip (use a strong paperclips) into the small holes next to the PC card and manually eject the card...you may have to push hard.

  • Does Lightroom 5 automatically eject the memory card once the photos are imported?

I use Macbook and ever since I installed Lightroom, the memory card no longer shows up under 'devices' in Finder, therefore I am unable to eject it.

How is it showing in LR. As a separate drive with green indicator or under Hard Disc Volumes folder?
If it shows under volumes you may need to choose to hide as a parent folder.
    See this link:

Otherwise how are you copying the images. To hard drive pictures or external hard drive?
You can set the prefs to automatically detect a camera memory card and in the import dialog choose auto-eject.

  • Cannot eject usb camera card reader from iphoto

I have a card from my Nikon camera plugged into a USB card reader. The photos import into iPhoto just fine. When I try to eject the card readers using the eject icon in iPhoto or drag it to the trash in iPhoto or irhgt click the icon on the desktop and try to eject or use Finder, the card reader icon disappears for a second, then iPhoto downloads its photos again. There is never enough time to safely remove the card reader.
    Help!!!

I tried that once and the memory card was damaged - couldn't use it again. Luckily my photos had already been imported.
    Thanks.

  • Ejecting internet data card

I am using now an internet data card which I have to plug into one of the USB ports. An icon on the desktop appears after I plug it in, but it disappears as soon as the app is launched. After the net session is over I quit the app. No icon is there on the desktop for me to eject. so I just have to unplug the data card. No error message or warning appears when I unplug.
Earlier I had another data card and its icon used stay on the desktop all through the net session. After quitting I used to eject the device by right-clicking on the icon before unpluging it from the port.
With the new data card now, is there any possibility of damage either to the data card or the Mac if I continue to unplug without ejecting? Or, is there some way to eject the device?

I assume you are using wireless modems that you plug into the USB port for Internet acess
I do not think you have a problem.  I have two with different service providers.  One requires installation of operating software and if I take it out I get the Apple error message.  The other one does not have any software an I can put it in or take out of the USP port with no protests from the MBP.
You are not going to damage the MBP or the device.
    Ciao.

  • Ejecting my SD Card Reader

After I am done importing, Aperture asks what I want to do next. I always click EJECT CARD but it doesn't really eject. I have to completely shut Aperture down in order to swap cards or remove my reader from my computer! Why is this? Even if I click DONE, I still have to do the same thing.

I have been having the same problem since the Aperture 3 upgrade, with all the interim upgrade stages. I could not get it to eject the disk when done, or use the eject triangle, or go to the finder and drag it to the trash. That last one would give the warning that it was still in use. The only remedy was to quit Aperture. It wasn't all the time that it would do that, but most of the time.I have been using an Apiotec 24 in 1 Express card reader in my MBP 15".
So tonight, before sending this response, I decided to try again. This time I used an external USB reader first and had it pull part of the pictures off and eject. Then the rest of the pictures and eject. Then more new pictures and clicked done, which would reveal the eject triangle when going to the download window. That also worked. Clicking to erase and eject also worked, although they were still on the card when I put it back in the camera.
I then went through the same processes with the internal express card reader and everything worked there too. I don't get it. I don't trust it either, but will follow this thread and see if anyone figures out what is happening.

  • Procedure to Mount ejected Memory Flash Cards without reinserting or rebooting

The following Terminal command works to Mount ejected USB flash drives without reinserting or rebooting:
    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext ; sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext
    Source: http://ask.metafilter.com/241301/Mac-Mount-ejected-flash-drive-without-reinserti ng
yet, it does NOT work for Memory Flash Cards like the SanDisk Extreme 128 GB SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Flash Memory Card 45MB/s SDSDX-128G-X46
    http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Class-Memory-SDSDX-128G-X46/dp/B00720TE1M
How to accomplish that with such Memory Flash Cards in Mac with OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)?
Is there a procedure that could work with both USB flash drives and also Memory Flash Cards at once?
    Thanks.

    OK, I have found this:
re-mount ejected SD card without reinserting
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/62478/re-mount-ejected-sd-card-without- reinserting
    with the following Terminal command:
    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBCa rdReader.kext; sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBCa rdReader.kext
which I belive is wrong, because it generates an error:
(kernel) Kext com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCardReader not found for unload request.
Failed to unload com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCardReader - (libkern/kext) not found.
I think that the right command is this (added space before semicolon):
    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBCa rdReader.kext ; sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBCa rdReader.kext
But unfortunately, it does nothing. The Memory Flash Card is NOT mounted.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

  • Is it so hard to eject the sim card tray

I just ordered a 3G iPhone, so quite happy with it, but I found it was so hard to eject the tray with the eject pin came with it and I also tried with the paper clip, I finally gave up after trying for more than 30 minutes.
Am I looking stupid I have a 2G iPhone and have ejected many friends' iPhones with no problem.
    Anyone has the same problem?
I am disappointed that I have to send it back to AppleStore.

In Hong Kong, we do not have the Apple Store's Genius Bar. As I ordered it online, the only thing I can do is to return it. It takes 2 days for them to pick up and another 5-7 days for deliver a new one. But if I order online, it would only take 24 hours.
We do travel a lot overseas or mainland China, it is better for us to replace our original sim card with the domestic one. By the way, the 3G iPhone selling from Apple Store (online) or Apple authorized ship in Hong Kong - are not sim locked.

  • Eject USB memory card

    Hello
is there an option somewhere I could turn on so as NOT to have to click Eject before removing a USB memory device? Im used to PC and I keep removing the memory without first clicking eject and apparently thats very bad...

Most USB memory devices require you to eject them prior to removal on both Macs and PC's to prevent corruption of directories or mangling open files. There is no way to override this. I have several USB memory sticks that I use on both platforms and all complain if I just yank them. If it mounts like a disk, it should be ejected prior to disconnecting.

  • I have an iphone4s , i am unable to eject the sim card tray? please help

    please help me

Use the end of a straightened paper clip. Insert into the SIM Tray hole and push very firmly and the SIM Tray will begin to come out. Once started just remove completely with your fingers.
If still problem, you can easily pull the SIM Tray out with pin tip bent into a small hook or letter L shape, carefully use tweezers or other device to bend the pin tip. Put this into the SIM Tray hole only a mm (millimeter) deep. Get the bent tip to catch and just begin to pull the SIM Tray out. Then use your fingers and pull the tray out completely.

  • My iphone 4s did not come with a needle to eject the sim card

    im not in the usa
    where is the needle?
i need to insert our local sim card

Have you looked in the little white booklet that sits just underneath the phone as you open the box. If you open the booklet cover you will see the pin.

  • Memory card  eject  SDXC

New to Macbook pro and apple products, so lots of questions.  How do I eject my memory card fromthe SDXC card slot on my computer if it doesn't show up under devices in Finder.  There probably are a few ways to do this???

In Finder you should see the card on the left under Devices, click the triangle with a line under it next to the name of the card. You can also right click it and choose Eject "Name of the card"

  • SD card doesn't eject

When I load pictures into Aperture, everything goes normally.
When complete I get the dialog to keep or delete photos. Normally I go with delete.
There is a check box to eject the SD card. it used to eject the volume (as in remove the NO NAME icon from the desktop). it doesn't any more.
If I pull the card out I get a warning not to remove the card without ejecting.
I can eject the card "manually" in the normal fashion, right clicking and selecting eject, or dragging to the trash.
Any ideas why the eject option would quit in Aperture? I have the latest updates. I'm running a 2011 iMac i7.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks to all for their input on this issue.
It seems to have been "fixed" at least for me by a process change. I no longer delete files from the SD card in Aperture. Rather I made it a habit of formatting in camera each time I download photos.
The net result has been more stable SD cards, and I'm happy with that.

  • Need explicit instructions on how to eject SD card from slot

Just got the iMac and tried downloading pics off my SD card.  Can't find the "Finder" to eject the SD card from the slot.  Can someone give me step by step instructions?  Thank you!

"How do I remove a card from the SD card slot?
As with any removable media device, allow any data transfer to SD media to complete before removing the card. When removing the card, the best way to insure the integrity of your data is to drag the icon that represents the card to the Trash, then remove the card from the slot after the icon disappears from your desktop."
