Ejects before Complete

I have been using iDVD for some time, but recently it has been ejecting the DVD during the final stage of burning so the process is incomplete and the DVD does not work. Any ideas about what could be the problem? Thanks for the help!
Doc

Historically, IMHO, Macs have always been picky about media, be it CD-R/RW or DVD+/-R/RW
Like others here, I've found Maxell and TDK to work consistently, and mixed success with generics, store brands, and Imation.
I don't think an official reason was ever found - some said it was color on the recordable side, with the Mac drives preferring blue & purple, but green and gold were problematic.

  • Disc ejects before completion in iDVD

Hi, firstly I'm a little behind the times having only recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, my problem is iDVD. I have a collection of images that I am trying to burn via iDVD all goes well until the burning, the disc ejects about 8 minutes before completion, this has happened five times, I have reinstalled Snow Leopard, as the permissions appeared to be incorrect and did not repair in utilities, but still no joy.
The machine is 2.16Ghz intel core 2 Duo, Memory 2Gb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and there is 80GB of memory, also it is iDVD 7 1.2 I know it's not the latest all bells and whistles machine but it worked until the recent upgrade.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks.

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed (2x - 4x) available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • DVD ejected before completed

I am trying to burn a DVD movie that I made on iMovie onto a DVD-R using iDVD. I get to the "multiplexing and burning" stage when the DVD is ejected. Nothing displays on the screen, it looks like it is continuing to burn. There is nothing burned onto the DVD. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I am not getting an error message or anything, just the DVD ejecting without the movie completed.

I think Snow Leopard is the problem.
    A: might be on a G5....
Question: Isn't snow leopard intended mainly (if not exclusively) for intel macs?
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC223
"Snow Leopard is an upgrade for Leopard users and requires a Mac with an Intel processor."

  • When using imovie and converting to idvd the cd ejects before the burn is complete.  how can I burn the movie for viewing?

when in idvd the disc ejects before multiplexing and burning are completed therefore the disc has issues when viewing.  there are damaged areas.  Is there a work around to burn the movie?

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • TS1394 Snow leopard  10.6.3 disk is ejected before installation is complete. Disk space is sufficient. What to do?

Having trouble installing Mac OSX Snow Leopard in Mac Pro. Disk ejects without completing installation. Any suggestions?

    OK, then do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If all is well try installing Snow Leopard again.

  • Ever since the new update, my Ipod won't sync. Starts to sync but then goes back to connected eject before disconnecting. Still won't transfer songs even after being restored. Restored fine. But now I've got nothing on it. Please god help!

For awhile, since the newest update, I'd noticed when charging the ipod (classic) that it stopped going to the charging screen and would stay on the  Connected: Eject before disconnecting' screen. But, y'know, didn't matter to me, it still charged... until today when I tried to add music. Tried it many times, reset it... STILL wouldn't transfer songs... It would 'say' it was syncing, but then suddenly stop and stay on the same Connect: please eject before disconnecting' page. I did a couple of times get a message about scanning it but, after restoring that never popped up again...
So, I do a system restore on it and ofcourse THAT works, but it STILL won't sync! So, now I've got an ipod with no music that won't sync and because it's all gone on there, I'm not sure how to back up my stuff (should I need to re-install iTunes... Though I doubt it'd work...)... So, yeah, I tried a different cable too, still no luck...
There has GOT to be some way to fix this!
Please somebody help me out! I so freaking appreciate it you have NO idea!

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • "Ok to Disconnect" vs "Eject Before Disconnecting"

I just synced my iPod Nano(2nd Gen)and my iPod Classic. For the Nano, it says "Sync is Complete/Eject Before Disconnecting" and for the Classic it says "Sync if Complete/Ok to Disconnect." What's the deal? Why do I have to eject the Nano before disconnecting? It didn't used to make me do that...

As far as I know, all iPods should be "ejected" prior to physically unplugging them. This ensures that the iPod is not being written to and that no damage is done by removing the connection while the iPod is being accessed. (This also applies to all storage devices that I use on my computer.)
I've seen several posts from people who did remove the iPod without ejecting it - and guess what, the reason they are posting is because their iPod now has corrupted information on it and some or all of their music is unavailable.
I notice that my iPod Classic appears to automatically disconnect if I leave it long enough. My iPod Touch does not and nor did my 5th gen iPod. However, I always use the eject feature, to be sure.
The reason for the difference between the two models is probably due to the teams who developed those models. My guess is that it was a different team for the Classic to your nano.

  • What is the difference between disconnecting the ipod and ejecting before i disconnect?

what is the difference between disconnecting and ejecting before I disconnect?

    Gary-
It is my understanding that unplugging the iPad's cable will not hurt anything as long as no data is being passed between the iPad and the Computer.
When you eject it, the iPad should remain in the iTunes window until all data transfer has been completed.  That way you can be sure there will be no corruption of files on either the iPad or the computer.

  • After synching my original design Ipod (with video), "eject before disconnecting" message appears. Eject what?

After synching my Ipod to my computer for additional songs, I get a message saying "eject before disconnecting" on my computer and the Ipod displays DO NOT DISCONNECT. What are they wanting me to eject?

You probably have the iPod in "disk mode," for transferring files other than music, etc. It's asking you to eject the iPod using the computer controls. in iTunes, that's the little up-arrow next to the iPod name in the sidebar. On a mac, the up-arrow will appear next to the iPod name in a Finder window. On Windows, you can use the task bar to eject.
If you don't like this behavior, you can disable it. While the iPod is plugged in, click on the iPod in the sidebar*. In the "Summary" tab, make sure that "Manually Manage Music and videos" and "Enable disk use" are unchecked. Then, you will be able to unplug the iPod as soon as sync is completed, without having to eject.
If you don't have a sidebar, go to the "View" drop-down menu, and choose "Show Sidebar." I always leave it on, I have no idea why it is disabled by default in the new installs.

  • SUBMIT an ABAP report after creating the WI but before completion of WI.

    Dear All,
I am having an activity which sends the approval work item.
Now my requirement is to SUBMIT an ABAP report after creating the WI but before completion of WI.
I can not call this report before approval activity because i need to pass this WI ID to this report.
Please suggest some way to solve this.
    Regards,

    Hello,
You could create a 2-from-2 fork and put the workitem in one branch and the report in the other. Have the report branch wait 1 minute and then read the workitem id from the other branch.
What is the purpose of this report? Why does it need the workitem id?

Does this happen with all cd's or one in particular?
    Reset the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Reset the PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Try a cleaning disc. You can get them at places like Radio Shack.
If nothing helps your optical drive has probably failed. You can replace it or purchase an inexpensive external drive. Don't buy the Apple SuperDrive as it won't work with macs that have a built in drive.

  • Backup stopped before completing. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

I am working with a client who is attempting to backup to a NAS device
The device is a linksys NSS6000 (Cisco device).
It’s a dual 1Gbit LAN device that supports CIFS / FTP and NFS transfers. It has only 1Gbit lan connected.
The device has 4 *  500 gb sata drives in raid 1  attached.
Cables go from cat 5 to fiber back to cat5. (The NAS  is located at a neighboring office) The switches are 1gbit.
Server is a win2k8r1 fully up to date.
When backing up to the NAS device, the following error occurs:
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (86%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (90%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (94%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (98%).
Backup of volume Local Disk(D:) completed successfully.
    Backup stopped before completing.
    Summary of backup:
    Backup stopped before completing.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
If we redirect the backup to a folder on a 2008 share, the backup completes successfully.
Only when backing up to the linksys NSS6000 does the error occur.
No other backup processes are writing to the NAS device so I can't understand why the process thinks the file is
    being used by another process.
One thing we did notice that when the backup to the NAS device occurs, throughput is about 150 mbit average
On the 2008 server shares we successfully backup to, the through put is 500 mbit.  Not sure if that is important, but
    might be worth mentioning.
The following event log entry was noted at the end of the backup.
The description for Event ID '519' in Source 'Microsoft-Windows-Backup' cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message,
or you may not have permission to access them.  The following information is part of the
    event:'2009-05-12T10:13:31.617Z', '', '2147942432', '%%2147942432'
    Any ideas?
    Thanks..Michael

I am also seeing the same problem backing up nightly to a brand new NAS device (WD My Book Live)
All the error codes are the same as those in this thread.
    From Windows Event Viewer:
The backup operation that started at '‎2011‎-‎03‎-‎25T06:00:19.811302700Z' has failed with following error code '2147942432' (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.). Please review the event details
