  • Extra drawn line in Photoshop CS6

    I recently got a new drawing tablet (Monoprice Graphics Tablet) and i set up everything perfectly fine. However, i opened photoshop cs6 and when i draw, there would be an extra line. when i draw a semi circle, it automatically completes the gap with a straight line when i lift the pen up or stop drawing and it's really bothering me.
    Here is a gif that i made to demonstrate what i mean: (click if it doesn't move)
    also... my lines appear to be sort of jittery or non-smooth. even my mouse looks smoother than when i use my pen..

    Check with the tablet maker for updated drivers.
    The tablet may be picking up smaller movements that make it seem jittery, or may be sensitive to electromagnetic noise near the tablet (cables, speakers, etc.).

  • When I buy 1 license for teams, what is the price/month for one extra photoshop and one extra indesign

    I would like to buy one full license for teams
    How much will it cost to add one extra license for just photoshop and/or indesign?

    Hi,
    If your first seat is for creative cloud complete ,all the seats that you'll add will be at the same price price and the same product of the first seat ( in this case creative cloud complete).
    In your case you must buy another photoshop team with 1 seat and a third indesign team with 1 seat.
    You can't mix different product in the same team subscription.
    The price does not change regardless of the number of seats purchased.

  • Photoshop files in DVDSP-best practices...

    I am teaching a class and a discussion point cam about regarding Photoshop and layers. At issue is a menu design where the designer used multiple layers (10-13)for text, objects, etc. This is not a layered menu but there is one overlay file.
    Question:
    Apart from the overlay layer should one be merging or flattening (not sure I know which is preferred) the file before doing a build?
    Comment:
    In the build process we are converting still assets to JPEG's and video assets to MPEG2 so this very process does a "flattening." Therefore the extra time/work in Photoshop is not needed.

    You can certainly use a layered file to create a standard menu. It's a DVDSP feature, not something that all authoring apps let you do. Some may, but not all.
    You can import 10-13 layers in a single file, no need to flatten or merge. When you add this to a menu be sure to create the right kind of menu first! You are making a standard menu, not a layered menu. When you add the photoshop file the layers are preserved and you can then see how it looks. If you need to edit the file you can do so, and of course you get to specify which layer is the overlay. This last bit is in a different tab, but all in the property inspector for the menu. Also, if you sue coloured shapes for the overlay layer (and why not?) remember that your colour mapping will need to be set correctly in the 'Colors' tab for them to show as you expect. Generally speaking, using a color in the overlay file means you'll need to set the menu up with Chroma rather than grayscale settings.
    When complete, you build and format your disc, and DVDSP flattens all of the layers into a background image (apart from the specified overlay layer) before it converts them to MPEG2 format.
    This functionality is a feature that is intended to make authoring menus a little easier for people. Personally, I don't use it, preferring to manage the menu creation in photoshop entirely, but I do see how you could play around with various layer combinations from inside DVDSP to decide what the final look should be before committing it to the disc.

  • Installing Photoshop Elements 8 options

    Hi
    I have  just installed Photoshop Elements 8 on my Mac Computer,  However am not sure what the other options are  e.g
    Adobe Extension Manager CS4 and Supporting Components : "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS4" and "Adobe fonts all."
    As  I was unsure I only installed Photoshop Elements 8 .
    Please advise the necessity to install the extra options?  and whether if it ok to install these extra options now, that is, that there will not create problems doing the installing of the extra components separately from Photoshop Elements 8?
    Hopefully this makes sense.
    One extra question which has to do with my having uninstalled Photoshop CS4.  When I now try and open a PDF files I receive an error message " Adobe Acrobat Could not install correctly.   ( this relates to an update to  Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional) A required component was not found.  Please restore the Adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD.
    Hopefully you can assist with this question.
    Thank you
    Sue

    Yes the first part is correct,  However, it seems that acrobat has disappeared with uninstalling Photoshop CS4.  The issue is that I am now unable to open PDF files .  Seems I need to to reinstall just acrobat and am I unsure how to do that ?
    I first had inkling that Acrobat had gone missing after uninstalling Photoshop CS4.
    A message came through that I could download a patch version 8.1.7 for Acrobat.  This installation failed.  Message received was
    "Adobe Acrobat could not install correctly"  - A required component was not found.   Please restore the adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD .
    Hope this helps
    thanks

    Zuerst habe meine Fotos in PSE 8 bearbeitet. Da ich meine Nikon erst seit dem Sommer habe, musste ich mir vieles zum Fotografierne neu beibringen. Habe früher analog mit Spiegelreflex-Cameras gearbeitet.
    So jetzt weiter.

  • Soft proofing/photoshop elements 8

    I bought what was suppose to be the plus to Photo Elements 8 through share it/com/Digital River. The publisher was simplephotoshop.com. Somehow I thought I was buying through Adobe. It is lined out in my printer and doesn't work. Is their really a plus addition to photo elements 8 that allows you to soft proof.
    thanks

    You will need to talk to the folks at simple photoshop about this, since it's nothing to do with adobe, which has nothing to do with elements+. As far as Adobe is concerned the only addition to PSE is the extra storage space at photoshop.com that you can buy.
    In my experience all that elements+ can do is to force the soft proof window to appear, but since PSE has no CMYK mode, it's of limited usefulness.

  • Can you have more than one plan at a time? i.e.: After Effects CC Single App   Photography

    I can't afford to pay for the whole CC package, but I really miss Photoshop in my workflow. In all the promotional stuff, the single app plan is offered to those who only want "one or two" apps, but I'm guessing the two only applies to PS+LR
    Paying an extra £8/mo for Photoshop would be worthwhile, but It isn't immediately clear whether or not this is doable.
    If anyone has tried this, or knows an answer I'd greatly appreciate your help!
    Thanks,

    Yes, you may have more than one "single" subscription, with the photography special counting as a single

  • Encore isn't Transcoding for me on my PC

         I am new to using Encore and have been making my DVD's with Windows DVD Maker, then not long ago I started using Encore. The problem I may having with enocore is that when i place my project in encore and make my menu and everything then go to Build it doesnt burn to a DVD. It as the coding Bar under Transcoding but after about a hour it just stops loading. Yesterday I left it loading for 24 hours without it finishing. I may on a PC i have good ram with 8GB. I dont know what to do to get my project to burn to a DVD. I Burned the same project 3 days ago without a problem tho this time I added a few extra things like a Photoshop make Menu, Chapters and one more link. My question is does everyone how of a way that a can get the program to work faster? And is there a way to make the menu in Encore but Burn with another software? If so would that be faster and what software should I use?

    In Encore, you can "transcode now" rather than wait to do it during the "build." That way you can determine if it is your primary movies or other things that are hanging the project.

    Many of us like to build to a folder or image and use ImgBurn to burn the disk. Building to a folder or image is also a good troubleshooting step.

  • Windows User thinking of Mac-What's included?

    Hey,
    I'm wondering whats included with a Mac. For instamce, I use notepad, character map, sound recorder occasionally, etc- Is there similar standard applications? Is there a System Restore style clone, to restore the OS should need be? I use Office and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 often. I'd be willing to buy Office for Mac but PSP I don't use enough to warrant spending so much money on. I'm used to 7, is there a mac equivalent?
    Im just considering a Mac when my Windows XP laptop goes down the pan, which should be a while as its fairly new. Vista seems a bloated mess, and I just want to spend my time doing on my laptop rather than maintaining- but I don't want to have be restricted in the way I take quick notes (notepad) make quick recordings (sound recorder) and do some basic image producing when need be (Paint Shop Pro).
    Thanks!

    Hey randyraill89,
    Here are some answers to your question(s):
    Notepad?
    The built in text editor on OS X is called TextEdit, which is best compareable to WordPad. It opens and saves .txt, .rtf, .rtfd, .doc, HTML and Word XML documents easily. Unfortunately, unlike notepad it seems a bit picky with regards to what other file formats it wants to save in. It might not be the best thing to edit HTML in, for example.
    Character Map?
    Yes, OS X has something called Character Palette. It also has a Japanese Kana Palette and a built- in software keyboard, called Keyboard Viewer. They have to be activated from System Preferences -> International -> Input Menu tab , and appear as a drop down menu in the menu bar with your flag as an icon.
    Sound recorder?
    This one isn't built-in from the start, but freeware/open source application Audacity takes care of that and converting between most sound file types easily.
    Other "small essential apps" that come in OS (mentioning off the top of my head):
    - A built in address book that works together with other applications on the
    system, like iChat, Mail and Adium
    - Calculator
    - Oxford English Dictionary
    - Font book, an application to easily install, find and manage fonts based on style, whether you installed them or they came on the system, etc.
    - iSync, an application for syncing between your Mac and other devices
    - A Preview application that supports viewing (and minor editing of) a bunch of file formats, like .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png, .svg, .pdf, .psd, .tga, .tiff - notice that you need no extra software to view Photoshop files or PDF files.
    - A utility for making graphs based on their formula called "Grapher"
    Other than iPhoto there's no image editing or producing from start. If you don't want to pay for Photoshop or use the Photoshop CS3 Beta then open source GIMP is an option. It's powerful, but takes some time getting used to (and may require that you install the X11 interface). There's also software like ArtRage 2 or Pixen available. I'm not sure whether you lean more toward a more painterish program or something more graphic-designy, but there's got to be something well proper out for you. As for myself, I use Photoshop.

  • Saving a .rgb (SGI format) file in Extendscript

    Hello everyone,
        I'm writing a script in javascript that saves out some .rgb files.  I tried using the
    script listener by selecting Save As in Photoshop.
    However, the resulting script would only save .sgi files:
    var idsave = charIDToTypeID( "save" );
        var desc17 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idAs = charIDToTypeID( "As  " );
        desc17.putString( idAs, "SGI" );
        var idIn = charIDToTypeID( "In  " );
        desc17.putPath( idIn, new File( "Y:\\lak_temp\\output\\theCoolest.rgb" ) );
        var idCpy = charIDToTypeID( "Cpy " );
        desc17.putBoolean( idCpy, true );
    executeAction( idsave, desc17, DialogModes.NO );
    Is there an extra step to tell Photoshop that it needs to use a sub-type of the SGI format?
    I have a plugin from telegraphics that lets me save in the .rgb format.  I imagine this is why I'm having a hard time with it.
    I also tried using the saveAs() function as mentioned in the documentation,
    but I've had no luck with it on this format:
    var RGBOptions = new SGIRGBSaveOptions();
    RGBOptions.alphaChannels = false;
    RGBOptions.spotColors = false;
    app.activeDocument.saveAs(new File( "Y:\\lak_temp\\output\\theCoolest.rgb" ), RGBOptions , false);
    I did notice that the save options object didn't pop up any attributes in the Extendscript editor.
    I thought this was wierd, since it popped up suggestions when I use the JPEGSaveOptions object.
    I'd appreciate any help.  I'd also be willing to try a javascript library that will convert files to the .rgb format.  I just haven't found one.

  • Fireworks - Creative Cloud Plan

    I would like to purchase Fireworks on the creative cloud single application plan... is this possible?

    Sorry, no it doesn't.
    I suspect the answer is there but it's not the clean answer you're looking for.
    Perhaps Adobe's clearest response from that link is:
    "What new tools is Adobe proposing to create for web design?
    Adobe has embarked on creating a new collection of tools and services aimed at addressing the needs of today’s web designer – we’ve started with focusing on responsive layout, web animation and HTML, CSS and JavaScript code editing and are delivering new Edge tools to address these use cases. We are actively working on next-generation solutions for screen design and prototyping that we hope our existing Fireworks customers will love."
    In other words, there's no single tool replacing Fireworks. It'll be a range of alternatives including Muse, Dreamweaver and Edge plus extra capabilities built into Photoshop and Illustrator (and even Indesign).

  • Metadata comparison with Lightroom.

    Hi, All.
    I just recently read Martin Evenings book and a few other references. There seems to be a consensus on the fact that Photoshop and Bridge offer far more in terms of metadata entry options than Lightroom does. The question I am faced with is: Are the fields available in Lightroom sufficient for my work or do I need the extra fields available in Photoshop and Bridge ?
    In order to answer this question I need a list with all the extra metadata fields and/or data available in Photoshop/Bridge that isn't available in Lightroom and/or some king of table comparing the two. I have searched but haven't found one that was detailed.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Well,Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 are the most recent releases. I don't know if anyone has cobbled a document compairing the two,so I'll contribute a screenshot of Bridge CC's metadata categories.  Bridge as I understand it is a free app, so you should be able to download it and examine the Metadata categories. And I'm sure you can also download a Lightroom trial and do the same.

  • Transfer from PC to Mac

    Hi, I am looking at buying a 27" IMAC
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/apple-imac-mc813-27-all-in-one-10478101-pdt.html
    However, if i submit a support question, it says I agree to destroy my version of photoshop. Of course Im happy to do that if i buy the mac but im not agreeing to it in case I dont so its a bit chicken and egg really.
    So my question is, before i spend nearly 1400 pounds on an imac and then realise i cant use my CS5 at all, which will be my main editing tool, how will I know if this is possible?
    Thanks

    If RAM and keeping up with your camera is an issue, why would you look at a new computer with only 4GB and only one hard drive?
    If you shop around a bit more, you can find a computer with more RAM and an extra hard drive for Photoshop's scratch disk... for less than the iMac.
    iMacs are great computers. I just wince when people think they are upgrading economically.
