Electrical vibration on the metal case of MacBook pro

I am in Thailand and there is an electrical vibration on the metal case. i bought the computer in Vancouver and the charger/adapter says it is good for 110-220V....220 being in Thailand. Has any one experienced this?

Hi Carl.
I am experiencing this tingling/vibrating on my Macbook Pro also when it is not plugged in.  It is not constant.
I bought the laptop in New York but am living in Athens Greece at the moment and my 1 year warranty will be expiring in the next month.
The travel packet I purchased from Apple which has a variety of plugs provides me with the correct plug for a European outlet but it is not grounded (this is an Apple product and frankly cannot understand why it is not).
What advice can you give to me?  I am concerned about being able to understand if this is faulty or normal.  If this is dangerous or not.  If I need to be pushy with the authorised dealer here (there is not proper Apple Store in Greece).
Any advice/guidance will be most appreciated.  This is a huge investment for me.
Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.

  • The Ultimate Case for Macbook Pro 17

I have just received my Zero Halliburton aluminium case for my MBP 17. All I can say is.....get one !!! What a perfect fit and match and the quality is the best.
Heres the link where I got mine and they shipped from US to UK by Fedex, no customs/VAT duties...and the customer service at luggage source was excellent. Immediately replied to emails etc
The model is the DZ7 by the way. I called the ONLY distributor in the UK, Harrods, and they have no stock (due to revised airline security and a demand for robust cases)...
I thoroughly recommend The Luggage Source.

Well the restrictions have already been eased on BA & Virgin for luggage en route to the US. No longer we need to hand in the laptops for hold so it is not anymore the ultimate case , not everyone wants to walk around with a rather flashy briefcase !

good evening..i accidentally dropped my iphone 5 and it has scratches on the metal case..how can i replace anew and original metal case?

You cannot.  Apple also does not repair iPhones.
Did you purchase Apple Care Plus?  If yes, they will replace the phone for a $49 fee.
If nothing else is wrong, I'd just put it in a case and not worry about it.

  • Spilled water over the keyboard of my MacBook Pro.

Spilled water over the keyboard of my MacBook Pro. 13 inches. Used paper and dried it straigt away, it was working fine. Now, a few days later, my left shift-button, the ctrl-button and right-arrow button do not work. What can I do to try to fix this?
My Mac is working completely fine. It was maybe 0,5 dl of water...

Nothing that you can do to fix it. Best to just leave it off and take it to your local Apple Store or AASP. No telling how much it's going to cost you - there are liquid sensors all around your computer so the service centers will be able to tell that it's a case of liquid damage, even if there is no corrosion yet.
You just have to be careful with any kind of liquids around notebooks - liquids and electricity just don't play well together.

  • Trying to buy a protective case for MacBook Pro MD314B/A 13.3"

    Hi
It's my first message on here so hope someone can help me.  I've been an Apple user for three years now and absolutely love all of their products and currently have a MacBook Air, iPad 2 and iPhone 5.
I am trying to buy a protective cover/case for a friends son who is getting a MacBook Pro MD314B/A for his birthday but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find one for that particular model, in all my searches (pretty exhaustive so far) all I seem to find are ones for the model A1278 none seem to be coming up for the MD314B/A model that I am wanting.
I only have that to go by as that is all I have been given by his mum who's pretty computer and Apple savvy so I presume it's the correct information, I just can't understand why I can't find one as I it was a doddle when I found a cover for my MacBook Air.
I know it is the 2011 model of MacBook Pro and really don't want to guess and order a wrong cover and disappoint someone on their birthday.
I hope someone can throw some light on how to make sure I find the right one, obviously I can't check on the MacBook itself as it is all boxed up ready for the big day.
    Many thanks to you all

Then you want to post in the respective forums, this one is devoted to Mac Pro (tower) not notebooks.

When I switch my time capsule to 5.0ghz mode the range of my wireless network drops significantly.  Near the Time Capsule my Macbook Pro works fine, in my bedroom I have almost no signal.  In mixed mode it works fine both placed.  Any ideas on how to get 5.0 working?  I thought 5.0Ghz was supposed to have a wider range.  Do I need to change a setting on the Macbook Pro?
    Thanks, W

I'm not sure if you understand that 5 GHz has some upsides, but also some very significant downsides.
The upside is that the 5 GHz signal will allow faster speeds.
The downside is that you must always give up something in order to gain something else.Unfortunately, the marketing hype about 5 GHz does not go into very many details about this.
In the case of 5 GHz, the 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, so they do not travel as far or penetrate any obstructions like walls or ceilings nearly as well as 2.4 GHz signals. In many cases, in order to get good 5 Ghz performance, you literally have to have almost a line-of-sight relationship between your computer and the wireless router.
If you have a new dual band router, which broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simutaneously, your Mac will connect to the best signal quality automatically depending on its location in relation to the router. In the same room, without any obstructions, it will connec to 5 GHz. But, take the laptop down the hall a few rooms and around the corner and the Mac will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal because at that location, the 2.4 GHz signal is not only stronger, it is also faster.

  • Is there a way one can safely remove the keys on a macbook pro lap top and clean under them without causing damage? Or is it best to just take it in for that.... say if one spilled a small amount of maple syrup? Help please.

Is there a way to remove, clean, and safely re-affix the keys on a macbook pro without causing damage.... or is it best to let the Pro's do it?

i would let the pros do it. ive dismantled my mbp before and its a pain with all the little parts. you basically have to remove everything from the bottom up (logic board, ram, all cables, cd drive) to get to the keyboard.
how much junk you got under those keys? the space between the metal and keys are small, unlike a pc laptop (though most pc laptops have easier keyboards to remove) .

  • Cracked the Apple Logo on the back of my Macbook Pro Retina

Hi, I recently bought a Macbook Pro Retina for use at university. Whilst in a lecture, the person sat in front of me managed to elbow the top lid trying to remove their coat. Its caused quite an ugly crack in the lit logo and I have taken it to my local Authorised Service Provider who have told me, due to the lit logo being attached to the retina display itself, the repair would most likely cost upwards of £600.
I was hoping someone on here would be able to perhaps offer some alternatives to paying 2/3 of the price of the computer itself...
P.S. I bought an AppleCare plan under the false pretence that it 'covers everything' (quote from the salesman who sold me the machine, I assumed at the time that everything included damages and theft). I now know that this isn't the case and don't fancy putting my word against that of the salesman's. Plus I guess its my fault for assuming.
Thanks for help in advance, apologies for long post.

    Hey B-bram,
For issues with video resolution not being consistent, I would start with resetting the NVRAM on your MacBook Pro. That will reset the resolution to its default as well as resetting other default settings like sound volume and start up volume. Take a look at the article below for more information about that and how to perform the NVRAM reset.

Guys, i am actually trying using a solution provided by the article shared by dominic23,
It says "Another option is to get an ionizer to help the atmosphere in the workplace be more conductive and pull charges away from contact surfaces, including yourself."
So in my home, we have such device that could clean the air using ion, and i am using it in my room...
Result: BANG!!! The electric shock on my macbook has gone!! I don't really care about physics but somehow it works! You guys should give it a try.
    Thanks again dominic23

  • How do I get photos from out of the trash on my MacBook Pro

How do I remove photos from the Trash on my MacBook Pro?  Am using Kodak Easyshare program and have tried using both to no avail
    Pat

    Recover Files in The Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.

  • Keyboard Cover and Hard Case on Macbook Pro Retina

I have just heard that Apple suggests to remove palm rest protector on Macbook Pro Retina.
    Reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4384
    Now, my question is:
Is it ok to put keyboard cover and hard case on Macbook Pro Retina? Or will it affect the product just like the palm rest protector?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
The keyboard protector that I got is Moshi's. They said it's extremely thin, will it be still a problem? Because as I compared with the palm rest protector, it's much thinner.
Here is the link for reference: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV901LL/A/moshi-clearguard-keyboard-protector- for-aluminum-macbook-and-macbook-pro
And, the hard case that I mean is something like Kuzy sold in Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Kuzy-Crystal-15-4-Inch-MacBook-Display/dp/B008B09LRY/ref=s r_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1350354859&sr=8-4&keywords=kuzy+macbook+pro+retina)
Any further opinion on this issue?
    Thanks.

The only way to do that is to Purchase it from the Mac App Store.

In that case... Install it on your New Mac using the Disc(s) and have all your Serial Numbers handy in case you are asked for them during the Install.
After the successful install... run Software Update to get any and all Updates... Then Restart your Mac and you should be good to go.
    PS:
Make sure your MBPr is connected to the Mains for this Long process...

what screwdriver do I buy for the back of a macbook pro  2009

    paulfromshoreview,
you’ll need a #00 Phillips screwdriver for the bottom case. If you ever wish to replace its internal disk, you’ll also need a T6 Torx screwdriver to do that.
