Element not found when duplicating "Basic EFS" template

I've been trying to duplicate the Basic EFS template as either a Windows 2003 or 2008
template and everytime I use the new template via GPO to encrypt (EFS) any files/folder, I keep getting the "Element Not Found" error. I've looked all over event logs and can not find any errors that will point me in the right direction to
troubleshoot this issue. I noticed it will only work if I use the Basic EFS template. I've Google and have found several forum posts that states to duplicate the Basic EFS template as a Windows 2003 template to fix this problem, but I'm still getting
the same error. Any help is appreciated.

Does it also fail if you start from a fresh user profile (no previous attempts to encrypt or enrol for certificates using any template)? This is to rule out any effects of caching anything, such thumbprints of EFS certificates used before
in the registry.
I would in particular repeat a test with a fresh profile and a W2K3 template after AD replication and GPO refresh has been done - I still think the most likely explanation is still that the client actually tried to use a W2K8 template which
was still cached.
After you created the W2K3 template - did you make any changes to the CSP / cryptography after you had copied Basic EFS? Which provider do you use - I guess it should be Enhanced or Strong provider?
Otherwise, I would probably compare all Object Access events for Basic EFS and for the other templates, and look for things like failed attempts to access key files. If there is nothing promising there, rather use
Process Monitor (Sysinternals) to compare "good" and "bad" encryption.
I admit that these tools are quite overwhelming and require some practice but I think I have exhausted all other ideas.

Windows 8 Pro Final (9200) BitLocker in UEFI mode not working, Element not found

Hi,
with the latest bios (either 1.37a (for Windows 8 Beta Driver test (June 2012) or 1.39 (Current) of the W520 and final release of Windows 8 Pro (Build 9200) BitLocker comes up with "Element not found" when trying to activate for the system drive in UEFI only mode.
In a new legacy only mode installation BitLocker works fine.
In both cases all devices in device manager are recognized. TPM 1.2 is active and working with e.g. the client security solution and fingerprint software.
I thought the UEFI / BitLocker issues have already been solved?!
Is there still an issue with the UEFI only mode of the W520?
Any thoughts or a bios update within sight?

Haven't heard of this issue with Win8. The issue with Win7/UEFI/bitlocker from last year is definitely solved.

EDIT: I tried this just now with Win8 Pro on T420 (same BIOS code base as W520) in UEFI mode. And bitlocker works fine. So I'm sure what problem is happening on your W520.

Javascript problem in IE 8 - Element not found

Why does FCP error "File Not Found" when I try to open my sequences????

I recently updated all of my software and the following day I started getting errors "file not found" when I would try to open a sequence. Now all of my sequences are being lost and I am losing time and money because I can't meet deadlines! This *****!!! With one sequence I had to reedit the entire thing from scratch and when I did for some reason the old one would then open. But the next time I opened FCP both sequences would error out. Following the "file not found" the computer responds with another error "error: out of memory" What the devil is going on with this crap?

I seem to have figured out what my problem was. After trying to build the same project (that failed on the Mac Pro) on my laptop and encountering the same errors, I realized that the problem had to be with one or more of my assets and not my new version of FCP, since my PowerBook is running FCP 5.0.4 and my Mac Pro is running FCP 5.1.2.
In my case the "corrupt" file was a Photoshop PSD file. In the past (FCP 4.5) I was able to use PSD files with hidden layers. I would merge the visible layers into one layer, keep the hidden layers and save the file. Once in FCP, I imported the PSD file and kept right on truckin'. I've done this for years. For some reason now with FCP 5.1.2 (and 5.0.4), that's not flying anymore. Once I "Flattened" the PSD file in Photoshop (deleting all of the hidden layers) I was able to build the project without any errors.
Interestingly, the technique I used to figure out which file was "corrupt" also allowed me to salvage parts of some of my "lost" sequences. I saw this posted in a forum at Creative Cow (creativecow.net). Basically, I opened up the project, clicked the OK button after the File Not Found error, went into the Browser, right clicked on the offending sequence, selected "Make Offline". When I double clicked the sequence it opened in the timeline with all of my assets offline. Then in the timeline, one by one, I right clicked on each clip and selected "Reconnect Media". Once I linked up the media, if I didn't get an error message, I would save as a new project (to salvage what WAS working), and go to the next clip. I did this until I found the offending PSD files.
I hope this helps. Now it's time to play "catch-up"

I started to get this JS error when I run my ADF applications in IE8. This happens on my PC. I tried clearing cache etc but it didn't help..
It happens even for one page test applications when click a button or link on the page..It works fine with firefox..
Does anyone have any idea ?

Yes...
I'm trying with firefox (everything ok), Safari (ok), Chrome (ok), Opera (not supported for Faces), IE7 and IE8 (supported in compatibility mode).
According to this this , it should be supported and certified to run on IE7, but it returns this funny error, related to Javascript. As far as I could guess, it has to do with the Flash properties of faces.
I've tried with 2 different pages:
- the first one contains an ADF DVTGraph and, then, it returns this error when loading.
- the second one contains Panel Accordion (these ones embedded that get minimized when you click on another). This behaviour is Flash, i think, because it is in this moment when it returns the error and not when it is loading.
I don't know if I did mysefl clear... :)
Did you uninstall IE8 and then you tried with IE7 an it worked?? Did you render any DVT component?
I'm incredibly puzzled with this.... Any Idea??

I am calling a Web Service that returns an XML-file. The XML-file should be passed to a method that puts the xml into a table in my database.
I will upload the 3 files that are being used for this.
When I rebuild my files I get the following error in CustomerCO.java:

Can you find any errors in Apache log files (error_log* and access_log*)?
Please make sure you have a certified combination of application release, OS, and you have all the patches applied which work with IE7 as per the following documents.

Encrypting a File using Microsoft PKI Basic EFS template

Hi All;
I created a basic EFS template on my Lab issuing CA and configured it for auto-enrollment on the domain . After doing that I created a new domain user(Test) on the Active directory and logged in to my windows client machine which is windows 7
enterprise using that user (TEST). Now since the machine was set up for auto enrollment the EFS certificate gets issued to the user “TEST” as shown below
Now as per my understanding this Certificate is tied to the User “Test” for doing crypto operation.
So now I created a folder a folder named “Puneet” on the desktop of Windows 7 machine and created a file “secret.txt” inside and now I selected the properties of the file “ secret” and selected the advanced option in which I get the pop up “Advanced Attributes”
in that I selected “Encrypt contents to secure data” and now I believe my EFS certificate should come into picture and help me in encrypting the file .
But it fails with below error
I have looked into event log and it does not give much information .
Note: In home Lab setup KRA is up and running on my PKI setup.
Has any one of you encountered this error while doing crypto operation using PKI . Any pointers are welcomed

Element Not Found

When I try to open an EXE or an ISO (it may occur with other file formats, but I haven't tried), I get an Element Not Found error. This only happens if I read files from an HFS+ drive; if I copy the file to an NTFS drive the error is gone.
I have Bootcamp 3.0. Any suggestions/solutions?

Nonetheless, depending on what other file formats you try or already tried, to me it still comes down to the question, whther these files when you try to open/use them, want to perform any kind of writing to the harddisk/partition from which you use them.
For example, exe files can be self-extracting archives, which, when started, unzip their contents to the same folder the exe file is in.
If you can, tryout a simple txt file or something like it.
Anyway, I want to prevent Windows from writing to OS X...there's viruses and the inability of Windows to handle HFS; a third party program might corrupt the OS X file system...I might be paranoid, but I don't want to lose my work in OS X, even if it means sacrificing some functionality in Windows.
Nothing paranoid about that I don't want write access as well.

FTP Error : Windows cannot acces folder ..... Details : Element not found

I'm just transferring to my new office that uses FTP as a means of storage for sensitive data. At first i can connect to ftp servers easily using windows explorer. But over time, when i'm about to connect to ftp server, the windows explorer replied
Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access this folder. Details: Element not found
I can access the ftp server using IE or another web browser, even using WINSCP and other ftp file transfer software. I need to be able to connect to ftp server using windows explorer again. Can any of you help?
The ftp.exe is not blocked in firewall rules (i've checked).
Any comments/helps are appreciated.

Firstly, make sure you have enable "Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer)" setting:
Internet options -> Advanced -> Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer)
And then try use mapping network drive:
1.Click on Computer.
2.Click on Map network drive from the menu.
3.Map Network Drive window will open. Now click on the link
Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures.
4.Now simply follow the step by step wizard to add a new network location. Select
Choose a custom network location when given the choice of where to create this network connection.
5.Type your ftp address. Specify a user name and password if required.
6.Give your newly created network location.
Alternative, use the registry method that was marked as answer in the following thread to fix it:

I am getting this error when trying to start a VM in a Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V ( all updated applied )
'vm-xx' could not initialize machine remoting system. Error: 'Element not found.'(0x80070490).
Does anyone experienced this error?
I found one update, KB967902 but it is for Windows 2008 Hyper-V not for R2

How can I get my ES2 loops to play correctly? I keep getting the message that the audio is not found when I drag the loops from my audio browser even though they play fine in the preview.

It's exactly as I stated. Whenever I try to drag these kinds of loops (ESX24 / software instrument loops? the ones marked in green with the white music note next to them) from the loop browser into the timeline a message comes up saying Audio Not Found for that loop. And a new track is created automatically when loops are dragged into the timeline, so I'm not creating some other random / synth instrument track so I'm not sure what the deal is... But perhaps I'll try creating a software instrument track first and then drag the loop into that track and see what happens - maybe there's something with the default settings that automatically creates audio tracks whenever loops are imported?
