Element width

Hi all.
I create two little project in HTMLDB (cca 20k and 30k records) and need optimilise report. After settings CSS style: "display:block;width:250px" my report have cells with this options width 250px this O.K. All even rows have text in block this though O.K. However odd rows have text in line, ower cells, no block. I have Standard, Alternating Row Colors report.
Any idea?
Sorry for my Engilsh.

In this example:
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:56
there are two columns - "broken string" and "original string".
What you are saying is:
in even numbered rows your text is displayed as in "broken string" column of my example
odd numbered rows the text is displayed as in "original string", exceedint the widht of
the column? Please confirm.

  • Bulk Edit Element Width

    I am using APEX 4.0.2  I have created several pages worth tabular forms to do various entry for hours in a sort of timesheet application.  My problem is the columns are too wide and cause the form to stretch far off the page.
    The only way for me to change the column width is to change the element width which defaults to 16.  Adding a column width or changing CSS does nothing.  Is there a way to bulk edit the element width?  Having to click into hundreds of columns and manually edit them is extremely tedious.
    Thanks.

    No errors were detected.  The source is several hundred lines long, but an individual cell for instance shows this:
    <input type="text" name="f01" size="16" maxlength="2000" value="25"  id="f01_0001" />
    There are 1040 such cells on this page alone.  20 rows x 52 weeks.

  • Element Width 0 When Changing CSS Display

    Hello
    I have a webpage containing several Divs which contain individual 'pages'. I have defined the following CSS styles to control which the user sees:
    .hideDiv{
        display: none;
    .showDiv{
        display: inline;
    I have a simple Javascript function which switched the CSS styles to display the required page:
    function hideShow(hideDiv, showDiv){
              //alert("hideShow");
              if(document.getElementById(hideDiv)!=null){
                        document.getElementById(hideDiv).className = "hideDiv clear";
              if(document.getElementById(showDiv)!=null){
                        document.getElementById(hideDiv).className = "showDiv clear";
              return false;
    Within each 'page' div are 1 or more simple tables containing images. The CSS on these tables positions them from the right like this:
    <table style="position:absolute; right:40px; bottom:30px; z-index:1;">
              <tr><td>
                        <img src="{media}" alt="{mediaAlt}" style="display:block; position:relative;"/>
                        <p class="padCaption">{mediaCaption}</p>
              </td></tr>
    </table>
    When I display page 2 (the first page to have its CSS display property changed from 'none' to 'inline') the image is displayed off to the right and down too low. As soon as I slightly resize the browser window it jumps to the correct position.
    I suspected that the browser was unable to ascertain the image's width and height and so assumes 0 pixels for both. This being the case the right and bottom edges were correctly positioned but only assuming the image has a width and height of 0 pixels!
    I extended my Javascript function to check this and ,my thoughts were confirmed.
    Fortunately (for once) our client has IE6 and this problem isn't seen by them. All of the elements in the complete html file apper to be cached when the page initially loads and it has no problem with the images.
    We need to use Safari for some presentations and can't seem to resolve this. I tried positioning the div to one side and then moving it but it all happens before the UI updates and the browser is still none the wiser as to the dimensions of the image.
    Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hello Jon
    Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry I can't share the page but I can extract some elements to show. Each 'page' div is like this:
    <!-- Page 1 -->
    <div class="showDiv clear" id="page1">
        <div id="bgPic-components">
            <!-- Sub-Heading -->
            <h1>Sub-Heading</span></h1>
            <!-- Page Content Area -->
            <div class="contentTextArea fullWidth">
                <div style="position:absolute; width:280px; z-index:2;">
                    <p>Some body text here.</p>
                </div>
                <table style="position:absolute; right:40px; bottom:40px; z-index:0;">
                    <tr><td>

                        <p class="padCaption">Annotation</p>
                    </td></tr>
                </table>
                <table style="position:absolute; bottom:24px; z-index:0;">

                    <p class="padCaption">Annotation</p>
                </td></tr>
            </table>

  • Bug: Null Element Width and Max Width on page item won't stay null (v3.0.1)

    Well, it's pretty much what it says. I'm trying to edit a page item and remove the width and max width on the Element properties. When I remove them and hit apply it functions properly, and the page item shows up with no width or max width property set. However, if I go to edit the page item again, the Width and Max Width fields are populated (30 and 2000 respectively) again. Thus, any action which saves the item will save the unwanted values. I don't want a width and a max width on the item; it shouldn't put them back.

    I think default values should only be used in a
    situation where no value has previously been
    provided.
    How can I tell the difference between the case where
    I fetch a null value from the column because a null
    value was previously saved and the case where "no
    value has previously been provided"?Well, I would assume that there is something unique about the initial creation of an item versus the editing thereof (e.g. the item does not exist in the database, yet). It's only on create that you would want to provide default values, that is, when no value has previously been provided by the user. Any other time the item is edited, it already exists and any values submitted should not be overridden or replaced. Off the top of my head, this could be done with table level defaults (if all item types were to share the same defaults for all properties), or via an insert trigger. Either way, the defaults would only be applied on create, and not on edit.

  • Is there some place where I can submit a ticket ? Seems like FF limits DOM elements' width and height to 10,000,000px since it transforms this number into scientific notation. e.g. 10,000,000px becomes 1e+7px which obviously can't be interpreted. Cheers

    I've reproduced this issue from FF 3.6.13 on windows XP and mac osx 10.6.8.
    On FF 3.6.13 the number of pixels limit seems lower with exactly 8,388,607.

    The 12" PB internals are a bit more complex, for PB's. If you don't want to replace the hard drive yourself or pay someone to install it, you could always get an external firewire hard drive, and use it to boot from and for general usage. Would have to be firewire, since the PB won't book from a USB device. One example of what you could get is a 160GB external hard drive: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MS4U5160GB8/ . All the choices with that case are listed here: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/on-the-go
    Have you called any Apple Authorized Service Providers to see what they would charge to install a drive for you? Whether you bought it or they supplied it? You can find a local one in the US at http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/

    Hi,
    I'm working an example in APEX 4.2 so YMMV (your milage may vary!).
    For Classic Reports, where the Column Attributes "Display As" is set to Display as Text (escape special characters ...:
    1) I find that Column width and Element Width setting have no effect to make the column smaller or larger.
    2) Here is one way that works:
    - In the Region's Region Definition, under Attributes give the Static ID a name (no spaces), say, class-report.
    - In the columns you want to affect, place "&#60;div>#ENAME#</div&#62;" in the columns Column Formatting "HTML Expression". Where "ENAME" here is the actual column name.
    I'm using the EMP table as an example.
    - Finally, in the page's HTML Header put, for example
    <style>
    #classic-report td.data[headers="ENAME"] div {
      width: 200px;
      color: blue;
    #classic-report td.data[headers="JOB"] div {
      width: 50px;
      white-space: nowrap;
      word-wrap: break-word;
    </style>This makes the ENAME column wider and the JOB column smaller and wraps it.
    Much more could be said. If you tweak you will find you can also affect spacing above, below and right/left of the data.
    #classic-report .report-standard th.header {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 2px 3px 4px 5px;   /* top right bottom left margins */
      font-size: 11px;
      font-weight: bold;
      vertical-align: bottom;
    #classic-report .report-standard td.data {
      border-left: #9fa0a0 1px solid;
      padding: 3px 4px 5px 6px;
      font-size: 9px;
    }Does this help?

  • Setting the cell width in a Tabular Form (SQL Query (updateable report) )

    version 3.2.1
    I have a Tabular Form (SQL Query (updateable report) ) and I have a column that is a VARCHAR2(4000) that when displayed extends the cell to the full length (which of course makes sense).
    How can I set the width of this cell to something like 30 or 50 and wrap the contents?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Scott,
    Thank you for replying.
    Your suggestion kinda worked. I say kinda because when the report is first displayed the cell is the full width and appears to ignore the width setting. There is a Select List on the report to restrict some of the data that is displayed. When a selection is made from this Select List, it appears that the cell width is then adjusted to what was set, but not for every selection from this Select List.
    I made the width entry in Tabular Form Element - Element Width
    Any idea why the width setting is ignored?
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • Width of Report Fields

    HTML_DB Version : 1.6
    In Reports, the width is being set to the max width of the data.
    How can I change the width of fields in Reports ?
    abhay

    It would help if you were a little more specific about what you’re trying to do. Do you need to set the width of a report column or do you have a tabular form where you need to set the width of a text field? The width of text fields can be set on the report column attributes page, using an attribute called “element width”. The width of report columns in general can be controlled using the report templates and or the column formatting attributes on the report columns attributes page. Maybe this posting answers your question:
    Column width fixed in report

  • How to define maximum field width on an updatable report

    I have an updatable report.
    From a user's perspective, this is a form in my app. How can I define the maximum number of characters the user can enter into a field?
    I tried entering the following into the report column's element attributes, but none of these worked:
    width=10px
    width:10px
    max-width=10px
    max-width:10px
    I don't know why the Tabular Form Element section allows to define Element Width and Number of Rows, but not the maximum width.
    Thanks
    Boris

    Hi Boris,
    If your updateable report is created by using a wizard than its not.
    You could use the apex_item.text api which allows for setting the max field width.

  • Decrease the field width for apex item..

    I cant decrease the field width for apex item. i used apex_item.text in the select query report region.
    i want to change the field width. i tried to change the element width..but no use. pls help how to change it.
    thanks and regard,

    The third parameter to apex_item.text is p_size. You can set the field width with this parameter.

  • Shuttle item width

    Hello.
    Is there any way to increase the default width of the shuttle item? Both the left and the right windows seem to be about 20 chars wide by default. The item's element height seems to be working - I can change it. But the item's element width value does not seem to matter.
    Thanks
    Boris

    In the HTML Form Element Attributes put this:
    style="width:200px"
    and it will increase the width of each side of the shuttle to that size.

  • Text  item width

    Hi All, can anyone tell what controls the width that input text items are rendered in an html region?
    I have defined the width as 15 in the elements properties section in the item definition, the item is rendered a different width on different pc's.
    I also noticed that the font that is used for input text is bigger on the pc's that render the item bigger. Are these 2 things related?
    Can anyone tell me where the font used (and size) is set?
    Thanks in advance

    I also noticed that the font that is used for input text is bigger on the pc's that render the item bigger. Are these 2 things related?Yes. This is caused by different local font settings at browser level. The size of the form control is relative to the element width at the locally-defined browser font size.
    Can anyone tell me where the font used (and size) is set?The presentational aspects of APEX applications are controlled using a combination of HTML and CSS via themes and templates. Base font sizes will typically be set in theme CSS by specifying the CSS <tt>font-size</tt> property for the page <tt>body</tt> element (or more problematically using the universal selector).
    If you want the form controls rendered at the same size irrespective of local font settings, specify an absolute width using CSS in the HTML Form Element Attributes:
    style="width: 200px;"However, for accessibility and usability reasons I wouldn't recommend this: users should have the ability to control the font size locally so they can read it comfortably, and controls should be rendered relative to this.

  • Can´t create a date attribute for basic asset

    Hi
    I created a basic asset where I want to have a date attribute to pick up a date for calendar.
    My question is: How can I create a date attribute for a basic asset? For what I understand I have to create an element attribute in my descriptor file like this
    <PROPERTY NAME="imagedate" DESCRIPTION="Image date">
      <STORAGE TYPE="TIMESTAMP" LENGTH="8"/>
      <INPUTFORM TYPE="ELEMENT" WIDTH="24" MAXLENGTH="48" REQUIRED="NO" DEFAULT="" INSTRUCTION="Format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm"/>
      <SEARCHFORM DESCRIPTION="Image date" TYPE="ELEMENT" WIDTH="48" MAXLENGTH="128"/>
    </PROPERTY>
    Then, when I create a new instance of this asset, this attribute appears with this error:
    Date: Unable to find element OpenMarket/Xcelerate/AssetType/Oportunidade/ContentForm/imagedate
    But the element (imagedate.xml) is there!!
    I request help.

    It seems that the table does not have the entries, maybe b/c we are on R3 4.7.  Could you tell me what the entries are suppossed to be to allow the Asset and Cost Center lookup?  The search does work for WBS element though and I don't see anything specific to WBS element in that table.  In any case if you know the entries that would be great, also this table is not modifiable via SM30, here are the entries that I have in that table.

    If your container has a width in %,  add one of these rules to your CSS code.
    /**This re-scales images to any size browser width**/
    img {width:100%}
    /**this re-scales images  up to the native file size only**/
    img {max-width:100%}
    Also remove height and width attributes from your <img> HTML code.  Otherwise this won't work.

  • Too long row

    I display text in sql report. Text has 1000 characters.
    I would display this text in more rows(not recors).I tried set up report/edit TEXT/Tabular Form Element/element width : 20 (for example), but it is not function.
    It is too long row(column TEXT) again.

    Hi,
    Useful Tips to customize Reports.
    1. When a column is huge:
    Contents of some columns are so huge peace of information that it could destroy the look of the report. A possible solution is to set up this column at the end (last in the Query) and extend (“colspan”) it in full report length. For instance let’s suppose that one has six columns and "DESCRIPTION" has several rows of contents.
    SELECT ADDRESS, UNIT_ID, UNIT_PRICE, PRICE, OFFER_NUMBER,
    ('</tr><tr><td colspan="5">' || description || '<hr></td>') "DESCRIPTION"
    FROM OFFERS;
    </tr><tr> will set up a new table row and <hr> will draw a line. Colspan=”5” should be substituted with (count of shown column – 1).
    2. Report is too long (too many columns):
    The solution is similar to the previous one, but the row could be bending on two or more report lines. In the report query for instance set up the following:
    SELECT ID, (SELECT property_subtype FROM property_types WHERE ID = PROPERTY_TYPE_ID) "PROPERTY",
    (SELECT name FROM cities WHERE ID = city) "CITY",
    STREET_ADDRESS, OFF_SIZE, UNIT_PRICE, PRICE,
    ('</td></tr><tr><td>' || DESCRIPTION) "DESCRIPTION",
    ('</td></tr><tr><td>' || GSM || ' ' || FAX || ' ' || PHONE) "GSM", CLIENT_REPRESENTATIVE
    FROM OFFERS;
    The difference here is that the column "DESCRIPTION” is not a last one and you have to set it up in Reports Attributes/Custom/Heading string similar to the one below.
    Id<br>Description<br>GSM
    Property<br>Client Representative
    One could get rid of horizontal rule using Report Template - Borderless.
