Elements 10 - actions plug in ??

Hi, does anyone know if you can get a plug in that allows me to write my own actions? I have read you can make actions in Photoshop CS3 and import them into relivent Elements hard drive folder but as I don't have PS CS3 then thats no good to me!
Just want to make my actions !!

While it might be possible using scripting or using a hex editor to write actions for elements, unless you have experience with recording actions in the full photoshop, it's not practical.
The only plugin i know of is elements +, but that doesn't write actiions it only enables you to combine prewritten scripts.
You could always either download a 30 day fully functional trial of photoshop cs5 or if your on a windows system you may be able to use the old photoshop 6 trial which doesn't expire, but
is limited in that you can't save layered files and do any batch processing and a few other things. You can however use the ps6 trial to write actions, save layer styles and shapes even though
some of the functions that pse 10 has are not available in ps 6.
There are tons of actions already available out there for elements, so there may already be one available depending on what kind of action you need.

Migrating settings, actions, plug-ins etc. from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud)

Hi,
I wondered if someone could help me with the transition from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud). I'm on a Mac with Mountain Lion.
I would like to migrate as many settings (i.e. workspaces where relevant), personal Photoshop actions, plug-ins (i.e. Type DNA, FontShop [Photoshop], Scriptographer [Illustrator] and Blurb Template Creator [InDesign]) as possible from CS5 to CS6. What is the easiest and smoothest way to do this?
Some settings, actions and plug-ins might not work with CS6, I don't know. I can't find where my Photoshop actions are archived atm.
Can I import extensions from Adobe Extension Manager CS5 to Adobe Extension Manager CS6?
Should I uninstall all CS5 apps? I'd like to keep InDesign CS5 for backwards compatibility at least.
Does Audition completely replace Soundbooth? What about Flash Catalyst, Device Central and OnLocation?
Edit: I have already installed all the Creative Cloud applications btw. But I haven't uninstalled any CS5 apps yet.

Hi Elvind,
I would suggest keeping both CS5 and CS6 versions on the system until you are fully transitioned, longer if you want. When you launch Photoshop CS6 it will ask you if you want to import settings from the prior version. Third party plug-ins may or may not be compatible between versions so you might need to check with the manufacturer to find out. You would most likely need to reinstall any third party plug-ins that integrate into existing Adobe product installations though.

For the PS actions, I normally open the actions panel, highlight the actions set (folder) I wanted to migrate, from the flyout menu of the panel choose the option to save the set, this creates the .atm file. There is another option for importing actions in the same menu.
I can't speak to migrating in relation to the other products. I would recommend posting in the respective product forums.

Elements 9 - Actions

I download an action but have problems to install this actions
There are 3 files : .atn, .png and .jsx
.atn + .png are installed in following folder : ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects
The only thing that I do not know is where do I have to put the .jsx file
I tried several places to put this file in :
ProgramData\Abobe\Photoshop Elements
Users\Default\AppData
but I always receive following error message : JavaScript code was missing
I want to work with this action in the "Photo Effects" and not with the "Action Player"
I'm working with Windows 7

Copy the .atn file to the one of the following locations:
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_US\Workflow Panels\actions
Vista
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_US\Workflow Panels\actions
The next time you start Photoshop Elements, the action will appear in the Automated Actions guided edit menu.

E-sourcing Add new Element in Actions dropdowmn list in Project Document

I am trying to add new element in Actions dropdown list in Project document (in drop down already has Create Auction ,Create demand ,create agreement, Create RFx elements ) .
i am able to change the text of existing but not able to add new elements .

Pavan,
My understanding is that the Actions tab is used to execute scripting. Some of the scripting is embedded in the system, like Create RFx or Create Auction. This you can not change easily.
If you want to add a new item to the Actions for Projects create a Script Definition with Script Type: Toolbar and Class: Project (1100). Keep in mind that you will also have to have a functioning Script Definiton.

No disk error in Premiere Elements 12 - Smartsound plug-in?

I have a fresh install of Premiere Elements 12 (with 12.1 update) on a new computer and receive the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:" whenever the program is opened or closed. I can bypass this message by repeatedly clicking "cancel". Windows application logs in event viewer lists a corresponding error message "Activation context generation failed for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm". I confirmed that this file does not exist.
A forum search indicates that installing Smartsound resolves this no-disk error for PrE 11 and earlier but that Smartsound is no longer a feature in PrE 12:

But another other user reported that the no-disk problem went away in PrE 12 after installing Smartsound:

And my event viewer error message indicates that PrE 12 is looking for a Smartsound plug-in which was not included in the installation. (PrE 12 was installed via Dell Digital Delivery and did not include an installation disk.)
So why is PrE 12 looking for a Smartsound plug-in if it is no longer a feature? Any suggestions for suppressing the no-disk error other than installing Smartsound? I'm just getting started in PrE and don't need it right now.

Thank you for the advice. I tried Han's suggestion of installing Smartsound SonicFire first since it was much quicker than completely reinstalling PrE (which entails many hours of re-downloading on a DSL line for the program & cloud content).
After installing Smartsound, the "SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm" file did appear in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\ folder. However, it did not resolve the "No Disk" error or the application error logged in Event Viewer. The source of that error is listed as "SideBySide" and Event ID is 33. The full text of the message is as follows:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Plug-ins\Common\SmartSoundAdobePlugin64.prm". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type=" win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I did a bit of research and this answer suggests that the error is the result of an incompatibility between the installed version of Microsoft Visual C++ and the version used by the program:

Based on this Microsoft article, it appears that the missing C++ 2008 version 9.0.201022.8 is an IA-64 version while the 9.0.30729.x versions on my machine are x64 versions:

This is all way over my head and I may leave well enough alone until I have more time to spare, given that the "no disk" error (which could even be entirely unrelated) is annoying but not crippling.
FWIW, the machine is a Dell XPS8700, Windows 8.1, 64-bit, and PrE was sold by Dell it, bundled with Photoshop Elements.

How to create dynamic elements in action of a view?

I created 2 buttons dynamically in WdDoModifyView(). I created action1, and parameter for that action i.e, id of type string.
when i click on button1, some ui elements must be displayed.....
can anyone tell me how to dynamically add UI elements in onAction() of view.....
i wrote the following code to create & map dynamically in WdDoModifyView()........

Hi Vila,
Are you trying to create UI elements dynamically in the action? If yes then you won't be able to do so because you can only create UI elements dynamically in WDDoModifyView().
Always WDDoModifyView() would be called after your action. So, you can handle it as you want in your WDDoModifyView() itself.
But if you want that those elements should be created everytime when you fire an event then don't write it within if(firstTime) clause as this would be true only when WDDoModifyView() is called for the first time when the page intially loads.

Photoshop Elements 6 Raw Plug IN

I import all my photos into IPhoto 09 and edit in Elements 6. I have started taking photo's in raw but am unable to open the raw photo in elements from IPhoto 09. I had seen a previous fix for this (raw plug in) but cannot find anymore. Can someone help me?

Best way to Export and Run a CS2 action/plug-in and save to a JPG?

Can someone help me with this? I am new to actions and droplets and LR/CS2 for that matter. :) sorry if this is basic beginner questions.
Please let me know if this is not correct?
* My assumption is I will get the best quality if I Export as a PSD,16-bit,300ppi file and then run my CS2 Plug-in and action ... then save to a JPG?
If this is true ... this is my question.
1) In LRv1 ... how do I Export the file as a PSD 16-bit ... and have a Action/droplet that will ultimatly save a JPG for me ... in another folder labled JPG?
(prefer not to have a bunch of psd files that I have to go back and delete.
2) p.s. I also would like to know I can do the same thing ... but this time configur my Action/droplet to save a "minimize embedded metadata' sRGB, constrained to 800px ... "save for WEB" JPG ... in a folder named WEB.
3) The key question here "I guess" is when Exporting from LRv1 .. and running a action on LR Export ... Do I have to Export the "Same" type/size of file I plan to End up with???
* So, If I want to end (after the action/droplet) with a 800x600 sRGB I need to Export it that way ...then LR will Run my Plug-in,& Sharpening Action on a smaller , lower bit file?

I've used JSmooth to make exe file from jar file, and it worked good. It was so along ago though I can't recall how to use it anymore.

Redo Last Action Plug-in

Is it possible to make a plug-in that could repeat the last action? For example, user rotates Object1, then selects Object2, run plug-in — and Object2 rotates in the same way.
I wanted to implement this plug-in via Undo / Redo list of commands but CmdStackItem class is closed for third-parties. So... maybe it is possible by handling all processed command and saving the last one. How do you think?

You can observe the commands, but the aktual task is not trivial.
There is no silver bullet to clone a command, you'd have to implement that for about 1591 commands.
Also expect many surprises such as
- commands that target multiple items ( that's a UIDList for a purpose ... ).
- commands that screw up their parameters - see the recent "duplicate swatch" thread
- commands that schedule or process other commands, across multiple levels
Btw, for the use case you described, there are already the menu "Object" / "Transform again" actions.

Photoshop Elements 11 filter plug-ins

Hi,
I've seen in PSE documentation that it supports filter plug-ins (see http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop-elements_reference.pdf page 57) but I can't find the documentation related to plug-in development anywhere. It's not part of Photoshop SDK, or if so, I must have missed it.
I already have a working Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in and I'd like to see how much work it would be to port it to PSE 11

I can't see any document related to plug-in development on Adobe Exchange's website. I found documentation on how to publish a plugin to Adobe Exchange, as well as how to use Exchange to install/try/buy plugins, but nothing about plug-in development.
Again, to be sure I've been clear, I've already developed a Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in, I'm just wondering what would be the cost to port it to Photoshop Elements, so I'm looking for a sort of equivalent of the Photoshop CS6 SDK with html/pdf documentation on how to write a PSE plugin.

Folder action plug in not working

Hi,
Using Automator I created a workflow that filters .avi files, then opens tubitunes to convert them to .m4v
When I run a test it works perfectly, but when I save it as a plug-in to the folder and drop an item in that folder, nothing happens.

Be sure your folder action script is saved into your /Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts folder. I'm new to these things, but I have a working script which I tried to enable using the Attach Folder Action option with the script saved on my desktop and it didn't work -- moving it into that folder above made it work, but I'm still having some issues.
For me it seems that the Enable Folder Actions keeps disabling itself. My folder action works once (mine is launching VisualHub to convert videos to mp4) but doesn't work again. Checking on the status of the folder, it reads "Enable Folder Actions" again, which means it has been disabled.
I'm running 10.5.4 on a Mac Pro. This was updated from a fresh 10.5.1 install.

Elements & Effects Upgrade plug-in issues.

Hello I have been using Emelents 10 & Perfect Effects 3 for some time now. I recently updates both programs. My issue is this...previous versions let me select Effects 3 as a plug-in to use with Elements. There was always a small box in the corner with the different programs on it. (example, Make it Better, Make it cool, Cut it out, etc) I remember adding Effects as a plug-in through the Elements program. I have tried to do the same thing, but it doesn't seem to work. I still have to open it as a seperate program. Is there anyway I can set it up the same way? I want to be able to use what I am working on and open it from the same screen. I have explained as best I can, I hope someone can understand what I am taslking about. Thank you for your time.

I found the answer on another thread. And yes, I fell stupid now too!!! That one little block that was not check screwed up my inserts and effects, new track creation problem and record problem. WOW! Thanks Tobin!!!

Elements as actions.

Hey again!
Once again after a long while I can't seem to figure this out. Please look at the picture below.

So I'm using the "red-zone" as a separate element, the purpose of it is to trigger a action (mouseover). The problem is it triggers based on the whole picture (the green lines). How would you solve this the easiest way? I've tried using rectangles etc but it gets rather impossible at times.

I am not sure if I understood your issue, but seems like you need trigger to work only for the red vertical stripe image, but instead the trigger happens on the whole area marked in green. Am I correct?

Contract Elements Dynamic Action

Hello All,
I've put a dynamic action together which requires copy-creating a new IT0615 HE Contract Data record when the IT0016 Contract Elements 'valid until' field is amended. Currently, it seems to trigger IT0615 when any field is amended, not what I'm after... Can anyone help?

Hi,
Check the configuration in table V_T547V for contract types 02 and 03. You need to have the "Indicator for fixed-term contract" as checked for the two contract types. Only then, you would be able to see the "Valid until" field (P0016-CTEDT) on IT0016 and the code given in my previous post should work. Also, make sure the test employee gets default contract types as 02 or 03. There may be some decisions to have different default contract types based on country grouping/employee group/subgroup etc. in feature CONTR (transaction PE03). Let us know.

Elements 13 actions thumbnails

I upgraded from 10 to 13 and installed my actions but they are not showing up and thumbnails and I really need to view them that way to work more efficiently.....can anyone guide me on this one?

I installed them in Elements 13 by clicking Actions~Install. They installed in Elements 13 but only listed in the moveable pallet. I'm wanting to access them as thumbnails on the right side under effects. I talked to Adobe support chat today and was told it couldn't be done. However, I decided to try installing my actions for PSE10 and it worked! There are some that didn't as I only have the Elements 11,12,13 version....but most also offered 10 version and at least I'm back in business : ))))) If there is a way to add the actions that are in 13 format only as thumbnails I would still love to be able to do that : )
