Elements 10 and Lion OS

Anybody using Elements Organizer/Photoshop 10 on a Mac running Lion?
I have a mid 2009 MBP running Lion OS. I purchased Elements Premier 10 from Amazon. I have installed the software. My computer locks up to the point that I have to do a force quit every time I try to use any of the elements software. $100 down the drain if I can't figure out how to make this work with Lion. I would even be willing to upgrade to Mountain Lion if some one can tell me that it works with that OS.

Photoshop runs really slow, Organizer won't work at all, I have to force close it.
Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
135gb out of 500Gb free space.
I have not repaired permissions yet. I wil attempt.

  • Re: PS Elements 9 and LION?

Looking to find out if anyone knows about the compatibility of Elements 9 and the new Apple OS - LION? I'm nervous to upgrade without knowing the answer?
    Thanks.

It works OK but you are best to get PSE10 which is fully supported by Adobe.
Why not try the free trial and then buy the boxed version which is multi-platform, if you like it.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en_us
You can use the free trial for 30 days. It’s the full product. Then buy the upgrade version from your favorite reseller or on-line retailer. Simply enter the DVD code into the trial and it’s yours to keep. No uninstall or re-install from disk is necessary.

  • Photoshop Elements 3 and Lion does not work

    Hello~
This is my first time posting here, so I would really appreciate any help you may offer.
I have an older version of PSE (3) and have just upgraded my Macbook Pro to Lion. Of course, my Photoshop elements no longer works.
I have gone to their help pages and ran the script they suggested. Restarted my computer and still no luck.
I have also found other websites that suggested deleting some files in my library and restarting, or moving my PSE application to my desktop to get it to ask me to repair the application - but it still just said "You cannot open PSE 3 because PowerPC is no longer supported."
Any suggestions? It would be great to be able to continue to use my program!
Or is the only way to use PSE to buy a newer version? If so, which one works on Lion?
    I appreciate your help,
    Thank you,
    krm2000

It will still work on an old Power PC so perhaps no need to throw PSE3 away.
For intel based systems I would recommend PSE8, 9 or 10 although only purchases of PSE10 now come with Adobe support.

  • Photoshop Element 6 and Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion

Does anyone knows if PE 6 works fine with OS10.8 ?
    Actually i'm under OS 10.6.8
    Thank's
    Have a good day

Yep, no problems. However, if you are planning to upgrade over your installed version of 10.6, see this:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2011/07/29/photoshop-elements-6-and-lion
which is true for any more recent version of OS X, too. Also, it is very, very important to delete all existing preferences before trying to run PSE after upgrading OS X.

  • What are the problems with Photoshop Elements 10 and  iPhoto in Mountain Lion?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and would like to install it on my new iMac with Mountain Lion. I have read about compatibilty issues with iPhoto.  Is there a way to correct this or is PSE 11  a better option?

Can I suggest posting this question in the iPhoto forum?  There are some true iPhoto wizards there who probably know the answer to your question.

  • External hard drive Snow Leopard and Lion compatibility?

I am going to install Snow Leopard on my Mac (so I can then purchase Lion and install THAT into my Mac) but it only has 975 mb of memory left. So, I've decided that I need to purchase an external hard drive so that I can transfer some videos, songs, etc. to create more space on my Mac. My question is, what external hard drive will be compatible with Snow Leopard and Lion? I was going to purchase a Western Digital external but I've heard many problems of it being incompatible with Lion. What's a reliable and compatible brand that I could purchase? I'm looking for an external hard drive that hold at least 500 gb.

I think your analysis is kind of harsh, kurt.
    'garbage'? really?
Sure, some familiar paradigms have changed, and change brings pain - or at least, unfamiliarity - but that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad.
Of all the changes you mention three things that you consider abominations...
UI changes more in line with iOS. Sure, and this is bad because...?
It's clear that Apple see the iOS as the future, and it makes sense to unify the experience - at least where it makes sense. You don't actually mention which elements you consider bad, BTW.
The scrolling seems to be the one most often cited, but to me it makes way more sense to manipulate the document directly, rather than manipulate a scroll bar that works inversely. I'm not sure what other UI elements you're concerned about.
As for the Save As... issue, the change to Duplicate makes a lot of sense when you understand the concept of automatic file saving and versioning. There's never a need to 'save as' in order to create a point-in-time backup since you automatically get point-in-time backups just by using the OS. The only reason it makes sense to to force a branch and for that, 'duplicate' makes sense. If it bothers you, just read 'duplicate' as 'save as'.
The big break here is that versioning requires application support - the developer needs to add it to their app code - and that creates inconsistencies in the short term because not all apps support versioning. That will fix in time as developers release updates to their apps.
As for bugs, the current release is 10.7.2, so that's two revisions past the original. Any major release (of any applications, not just an OS) is going to have some number of issues and some people avoid any .0 release just for that reason. I think the concensus is that by the time you get to .2 most of the issues have been resolved. Can you point to any bug in 10.7.2 that directly affects you and your use of the OS? or are you basing your statements on outdated material?
In short, every major OS release, from every OS vendor has some number of changes that confuse and upset users, and some number of short-term pain while application developers and users get up to speed. Lion is no different in that respect, and if you look back in history you'll see the exact same sentiment for Snow Leopard's release, and Leopard's, and Tiger's, and..., and..., and...
To call it garbage, though? I think not.

  • Photoshop Elements 4 and 3 installation error

In 2006 I bought a wacom graphire 4 tablet including photoshop elements 4 and 3. Recently I replaced my Mac (new Mac: OS X version 10.8.4 - 2.9 GHz Intel Core 15 - 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) and now I want to install photoshop elements 4 and 3 again, and when the installation is almost finished I get an error. Please help me to install photoshop elements 4 and 3 to my new Mac.

Well, you should have known that if you upgraded to mountain lion you would lose all your ppc software. Apple has been warning that this was coming since around 2006 and PSE 3 stopped being compatible with OS X back around 10.4, after all. 10.7 has been out for over two years now, so it's not like this has been a big secret.

  • Can't open any files in Photoshop Elements 9 and 11

I have Photoshop Elements 9 and 11, and right now I cannot open any files at all in either one. I keep getting this same error message every time: "Your request cannot be completed because the file format module cannot parse the file". Anybody have any ideas about what's up with this? I have an iMac running MAC OS-X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

    CheekyBugger,
As you are using Photoshop Elements, and this is the Photoshop>General Discussions (PsElements' "big-brother"), I would normally Move this post. However, I know that you now have a post on the same issue, in the Photoshop Elements Forum (Moved from Premiere Elements), so I will just Lock this thread. Please continuse to troubleshoot your "Cannot Parse... " issue in the other thread, in the PsElements Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1405398?tstart=0
    Good luck,

  • Install problems PS Elements 6 and OS X 10.8.2

Hi, I have my 2008 copy of Photo Shop Elements 6 and am trying to install on my 27" iMac running Mt. Lion ver 10.8.2 and I keep getting the error:  "Startup Error", missing resuources... this is after I removed it from the computer to renistall it and try to get rid of the following error that appeared each time I tried to run 'Elements'... funny thing, after I would dismiss the error, Elements would load and run fine.
Now I cannot seem to install it from the original Adobe Elements disk

  • Premiere elements 10 and organizer

I have the premiere elements 9 and photoshop9 which came as a bundle with organizer. If I buy premiere elements 10 will organizer 9 work with it?
    I am using Mac Lion.

Not really. But Premiere Elements 10 comes with Elements Organizer 10, which should update your Organizer 9 catalog.

  • I'm wondering if anyone has any input on using Photoshop ELements 8 on Lion?

I have not switched to Lion just yet. I'm doing lots of research first. I'm already resigned to the fact that I'd have to upgrade my Microsoft Office for Mac, but wondering if anyone has any experience with running Photoshop Elements 8 on Lion? I'm thinking that it best to be informed before making that switch as to what will work and what won't!! Thanks for any input you may have...

I have PhotoShop Elements 6 and it seems to do everything it did in Leopard, SL and now Lion. I would imagine PS 8 would be the same.  But maybe someone else will confirm about PS 8.

  • IPhoto with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and Adobe Bridge

I have not used iPhoto before now as I have been downloading photos from my Canon and Nikon cameras using their software. I have now moved everything into iPhoto but cannot find iPhoto using Adobe Bridge so I am unable to do any editing using Elements 4. Previously I could find the Canon and Nikon photos using Adobe Bridge. With a simple click on the relevant photo it opened up in Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and I was able to edit it. Now using Bridge I simply cannot find iPhoto thus I cannot use PSE4. Can someone help before I go crazy ? I havde called Apple support but they have been unable to help me and suggested using Discussions@Apple

Many thanks for your quick response although, as a new iMac user, the mere mention of the word "corrupt" scares me ! I previously used a PC with Windows XP and PSE3 and loved being able to sort all my photos into albums with PSE3. Unfortunately the PSE4 which I have installed on my iMac doesn't let users sort their photos into albums and the only alternative is Adobe Bridge. I only recently started to use iPhoto after a visit to an Apple Store and it's great being able to catalog my photos so easily. Unfortunately PSE is far and away superior to any editing software that iPhoto has to offer. Anyway, I'll cross my fingers and try your suggestion first thing tomorrow morning.

Once I type my information in and click on "sign in" a little 'thinking circle' pops up and it just keeps spinning but it never ends up doing anything. Please help me with this issue. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Did you have the opportunity to update 12 to 12.1 Update yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so when you get the opportunity.
For now I will assume that your computer is Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. Please try the following suggestions to overcome your Premiere Elements Sign In issue.
