Elements 10 crashes computer while preparing to burn DVD or to file

I am trying to make a DVD of a movie approx 55 min long.  The computer shuts down when the process is 25-50% complete.  I made a 6 min movie for UTube last week with no problem.

I am still not a buyer of the heat explanation of your issue, nonetheless I am trying to see it. But based on what you have written I am
not there yet.
In your latest report you wrote in this sequence
I went back to my Pinnacle software and started a project with just a menu
and the same video but no editing.  The computer rendered to file OK.
I went back to my original file and set up my Bluray burner. I also propped
up the back of my laptop to improve air flow.  It burned a disk!
Today, I will check the disk to be sure it works then try burning a DVD
with the computer propped up.  Maybe the problem was overheating as someone
suggested.
Is the same laptop being used for 1, 2, and the planned 3 above? Are the same files being used?
I am assuming that Pinnacle is used in "1" on the laptop computer, with laptop not propped up.
I am assuming that Premiere Elements is used in "2" on the laptop computer, with laptop propped up. You say "It burned a disk" What format on what disc?
How is "3" above going to be different than "2" above?
When you are getting the burn to failures, can you actually feel any laptop casing heat difference between "1" and "2" above?
We will be watching for further developments and the details.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Crashes Computer While in Photo Editor

How can I get Photoshop Elements 12 to stop crashing when I am editing photos?  This has become a huge problem.  I even installed a new copy of the program and it still happens.  I also have had to make multiple catalogs and still have many problems with PE12, most notable being it crashes the entire computer --- causes a full shutdown and restart --- when I am editing photos.  Help!

Uninstalling and reinstalling almost never solves these kinds of problems. Has it ever worked right? What version of OS X are you using?

  • Error #34506 while attempting to burn DVD

I am getting error #34506 while attempting to burn DVD or to create DVD image using iDVD 6 Version 6.04(797).
I checked all the resources and there is nothing suspicious.
Any advices how to fix this problem? Any advices about other DVD creator which I could use with my iMovie projects?
Could I safely upgrade to iDVD 8 without mixing up my old good iMovie. After reading the reviews I am really scared.
    Jacek, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Roxio Toast is a well-regarded way to create DVDs from iMovie and other video sources, but the menus are not as nice.
iDVD should work for you, but it may take some time to sort through any problems. Have you successfully created a DVD in the past? How much free space is on your main hard drive (boot drive)? Do you have a current version of Quicktime?

  • No Recorder Found while trying to burn DVD

Im new to Encore CS3, I am used to using Sonic DVDit Pro 6 for my DVD authoring needs. I am just messing around with everything trying to learn a new program. When I click on "build", the build window opens up and in "DVD Settings" under "Destination" it states that no recorder has been found. I have a DVD burner, this I am sure of. It is a Lite-On Super-Multi LH20A1H Lightscribe DVD Burner and have never had any problems burning multiple DVDs when using the Sonic program. Now, using Encore, my DVD burner is not recognized, therefore causing me to not be able to burn DVDs.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Probably too late to help in this thread, but may save someone down the line.
In the Premiere Elements forum, we were troubleshooting a "drive not found" issue, and ran down the usual supsects (see Jeff's link above, if it still works now). The user had none of these and had never installed them. Cables were checked and rechecked. Drives were uninstalled in Device Manager, and then reinstalled upon bootup, and functioned perfectly, except for PE. One thing was a bit odd, however, as the burner showed up as a CD drive in some of locations (like My Computer), when it was a full multi-drive, with updated firmware.
Through luck, and hard work on the user's part, we traced it back to Intuit's Quicken. The user did backups to disc from within Quicken. What happens is that Quicken looks around the system and finds some form of packet-writing software. If there is no Nero, or Roxio, it invokes Windows' packet-writing module, which is usually dormant. Once this has been invoked, it "hooks" that burner every time the system boots up, and because Quicken tells it that the drive is a CD drive (what Quicken backs up to), the system thinks that it's a CD drive also. So, besides Roxio and Nero, one can also run afoul of Quicken, if they have ever used its Backup to Disc function to write to a CD. Do not know if the newer versions of Quicken do the same, but it's likely. Just another program to add to the "usual suspect's" list.
Hope this helps someone else with a "burner not found" issue with Encore.

  • Burn DVD/ dmg/cdr file question

Hi- What happened to the dmg files that used to work on external dvd/tv players?
I'm trying to copy a dvd (home movie/ no copy protection) from someone abroad. The region seems ok, the original plays on my computer, plays on my tv via a jvc dvd player and another phillips dvd player.
I make a copy of the original dvd, via making a disk image; the file format is not dmg but cdr. Burn is ok, will play in the computer, but WILL NOT play on the same tvs with the phillips dvd player, or the jvc dvd player. Any suggestions how I can get this to play via the dvd players? Is it related to now having the cdr files?
In the past I've made lots of home movies and was able to burn them to a dvd and they would play on the same dvd players. I think the file format was a dmg though. ??????

Yes. I see that on the old powerbook G4 and the new imac, the process is a little different, but playing around with this I see that if I burn the cdr image to the dvd it's fine, like as a backup for the disk image, but I assume it's not meant to play in an external dvd player. Is that right? When I burn the contents of the cdr image to a dvd and just get the video__ts folder, then it plays on the computers, and it does play on a newer, cheap phillips dvd player but not on the older jvc dvd player. The original dvd I wanted to copy was from outside the US, so I'm wondering if it's a region problem with the JVC.
Several years ago I did some work with imovie and idvd and burned dvd's and they worked fine in the JVC. The original dvd I was trying to copy today also works fine in the JVC. Just can't figure out what' the problem.

  • Disk Utility - Burning DVD from desktop file created from camcorder

I am unable to burn a DVD from a file on my desktop. When trying to use the upper tray, the disk drive won't remain closed and I am unable to proceed.
When using the lower tray, it begins the burn process, then returns this message:
Unable to burn file. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.
    The upper tray is a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4480B
The lower tray is a Sony DVD RW DRU-530A.

Thanks for answering ALL the questions, too many times I ask as many questions as possible to get as much info as possible and I get a one line response.
4GB file with Disk Utility should be fine.
4x speed should be fine too, but you may want to try 2x, just in case the ATA-33 bus is struggling. The ATA-33 bus is the original bus in the MDD for the optical drives, the hard disks were on an ATA-66 and ATA-100 bus. Unfortunately ATA-33 is very limited in the amount of data it can reliably send in a given time, and 4x DVD burning is the absolute limit.
Sony DVD-R should be fine, many here are wary of Memorex media, I use it for temporary copies of product / games discs, but never for backups.
How is the external DVD burner attached ? FireWire ?
It really should be working, you've already confirmed that both the drives successfully burn CDs, so we know they're recognised and operating. And you've said the 4GB camcorder file is on your desktop, ie. on the internal hard disk, so we know it's not a speed issue with the source file, like if it was on a flash drive - or is it ? Or is it still on the camcorder ? If so get it copied to the internal hard disk.
Can you confirm the ATA-33 bus and Disc Utility support for the drive by using Apple System Profiler, if you select ATA, it should appear on the ATA-3 bus. You'll also have an ATA-4 and ATA-6 bus.
If you click on "ATA-3 bus" you should find an entry "Disc Burning" and it should say "Apple Supported" or similar. If it doesn't then I don't think you can burn with Disk Utility. Generally, above OSX 10.4.6 (or 10.4.5, can't remember exact) all these drives are supported, for burning and booting from. I suspect you're fine as you've said you burn CDs with it fine.
One thing some people do is to buy an ATA-133 PCI card, and run the internal hard disks off that and the ATA-100 on the motherboard. Then use the motherboard ATA-66 slot to drive the optical drives. Don't spend any money yet, we'd have to confirm that the burn speed is the issue. Like said, try burning at 2x or 1x.
Apologies now if my Apple System Profiler instructions are not 100% accurate, my OSX 10.5.5 Mac is unavailable just now so I've based my instructions on OSX 10.3.9 ASP.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 crashes computer

When starting Photoshop Elements 8 Editor in Windows 7, the screen turns grey and my computer crashes. I tried reinstalling Elements 8 twice.

    Hi,
Have not seen any issues where computer is getting crashed by PSE but just to begin please try these:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Premiere elements 11 crashes computer on export

So I install premiere elements 11 today to my 64bit windows 7 system that has plenty of power to deal with video editing. I import some high quality video from my canon 550d.
I'm having a great time editing living the adobe dream I finish my project and go to export to Facebook in Facebook HD it renders fine but when it gets to end of the upload it crashes my computer.
This happens where even I try to export to. Even just as a file on my computer.
    Please help

"This happens where even I try to export to"
Are you saying that if you use Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD, your computer crashes?
If so, have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have the hidden or non-critical updates, which do not update automatically?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
Have you run Disk Cleanup and the Defragmenter?
Can you give us more specific information on your processor, RAM and hard drive free space? "Plenty of power" doesn't really telll us much.

  • Ipod 30gb Video not recognised and crashes computer while connected

    Hi
Got my ipod 30gb for xmas. installed the software, then when it came to connect the ipod via usb, it recognises as far as there being a new disk but nothing else. Also i cannt open any other programs or icons on windows until i reset the ipod and disconnect.
any ideas please would be gratfeully received
    matt

I too have a 30GB 5G iPod that crashes my computer. It is not recognized by XP and is not recognized by iTunes either. I changed USB ports, tried the Updater (Updater never worked since the computer did not recognize the iPod), uninstalled/reinstalled iTtunes, rolled back the registry to several days earlier, disabled antivirus software, etc. I have so much practice resetting the iPod I can now do it blindfolded. I have also tried the iPod on another computer with exactly the same results, but an iPod Nano works flawlessly. There seems to be no other remedy except to send the thing back but the Apple phones are jammed and I can't get through.
A quick search of this forum shows many other similar problems with 5th genertion iPods. What a disappointing purchase!!

  • Error Message When Preparing To Burn DVD.......

I am getting the error message, 'There were errors during the project validation. These errors have to be fixed before burning the project'.
When looking at the setup of my DVD in the 'Map Mode' I have a frame at the beginning (before my title page) saying 'Drag Content Here To Automatically Play When Disc Is Inserted'. What does this mean and what do I need to drag here? I have my main title already set up and it is in the 2nd slide along, surely this should automatically be the start of the disc?
Any help would be most appreciated, or an explanation of how to get rid of this would be lovely! Cheers.

I am getting the error message, 'There were errors

It sounds like some of your content has problems or is missing.
When looking at the setup of my DVD in the 'Map Mode'
I have a frame at the beginning (before my title
page) saying 'Drag Content Here To Automatically Play
When Disc Is Inserted'. What does this mean and what
do I need to drag here?
That's the autostart well for content that runs before a menu is shown. It should be OK that it's empty.
I have my main title already
set up and it is in the 2nd slide along, surely this
should automatically be the start of the disc?
    That should be OK.
When you are in the Map view, do you see any little yellow signals in boxes showing possible problems?

  • Burning DVD with AVI files???

I am strugling to do this - all I want to do is back-up an avi file to dvd, but when I use the mac proprietory burner, I get an error message saying that the codec is missing....
    Please help someone!!

Install Perian and convert the AVI to a format usable in the burning application. Alternatively, use the Finder to burn the file as data; if you're trying to make a backup and not a video DVD, this is the best option.

In the meantime I am evaluating the 'cheaper' and without installing / working / DVD problems and possibly send Adobe discs back for full refund.
My Laptop is fast enough and well kept - not other 'larger' programmes have any problems running or installing [Stenberg Cubase Pro, Flight Simulator X and so on] only Adobe programmes!
I am really getting tired now.
    Regards
    Mobon

    Hello
All problems are carefully separated - not all together, since I am a tidy person by default.
It is very simple and not confusing.
I actually have one main issue with PE7 and PPE7 [which I hope they will care of] and a series of small teething problems as many in these forums have on Premiere 10 since installation because Adobe programmes have 'basic' problems even loading / reading/ converting its own created files.
I looked up for Premiere Elements problems on-line [on external forums] and I can see so many problems and people opting for alternative programmes or getting 2 or 3 different programmes to do the job faster and better - that confirms my thoughts.
I am not here to stir things up [if by any chance you are thinking that], but I am merely trying to use a PAID and SUPPOSED to be GREAT program and it is clearly not my friend.
But if I get pushed up around and treated like a non-in-the-computer-field-person, then I might 'need to' stir things up with 'proves'!
I have been working with computers Hardware and Software since 1975 with the Sir Sinclair Spectrum .
So, I do know one thing or two by working 'manually' and without the 'easy' mouse clicking [!] and my main job these days is to actually fix People's messed up computers, recover data, erase data, etc. and often I find either Apple's or Adobe's programmes not working properly [being the main problem on slower computers] and users tried to fix them and messed things up!
Mainly is Apple programmes [ iTunes is one!] on Windows environment - just pure mess.
In fact I do not keep ANY Apple Programs on ANY my computers any-more and by adding the blooming QuickTime - it actually adds 3 'mostly not needed' applications that must be run in the background only slowing down 'most standard' computers and 'mostly' for no apparent reason but needed by Premiere Elements 10.
Adobe Acrobat Reader too is a kind of an offender in that sense, which I do not use any-more in favour of an alternative and very light program that does not invade your computer.
I could be talking about the above for days ...
The fact I do not know Premiere 10 very well and I am having some teething problems with 'Adobe Premiere Elements 10' does not make me a lower being or anything to the like or even put me aside the forums for being realistic and a human being most of all.
I simply am an  Intermediate / Advanced / Professional Computer User / Repairer [depending on which subject] trying to fix this non-working-properly Adobe's program and get on with his life.
You as an employee perfectly know what I am talking about, the Adobe numerous problems with Elements and pro and the clever Marketing and money making tool Adobe has created around it and I do understand you must keep Adobe's side - of course and that is not a problem at all.
BACK TO THE ONLY PROBLEM THIS THREAD IS OPEN FOR:
Having said that, in the meantime I seem to have solved it myself [as I do most of the time], at least for now.
I am sure many other problems will arise.
    My Solution that worked:
I simply clicked on the time-line [bottom] and then clicked on top menu TIME-LINE [if I am not wrong, it was late night and I might be wrong - do not crucify me please!] and MERGE CLIP and then I let the program do the job I purchased for.
Days ago using the Trial Version [before I purchased Premiere 10] I already read that Premiere does not like either large gaps [I did not have] or even simple clip cuts not merged and it did have 'loads' of problems, but most of them were solved by 'users' mostly.
Anyway, that seems to have done the trick, even thou it did take around 4/5 ours to do 3Gb ! Why?
    My computer is fast.
But I have not checked or burned the files yet - so, I do not know100% - just yet, I will check later on today.
I believe Adobe must prepare a Service Pack with 'Loads' of fixing, there is no place to hide and that may convince users to even 'spend' and buy the PRO version - the ball is in your court now.
I cannot believe Premiere is having so many small teething problems and I am only doing a BASIC test and I can see the vast majority of users of Elements Programs going literally insane and only us, the more Techy ones coping.
    Regards
    M
PS the fact you see an avalanche of problems with my installation is actually normal.
That is because I am a 'fast' and organised Computer Technician which gets on with things and I usually do this with all new programmes to get rid of the possible initial several small hiccups, that other Companies usually fix with Patches - not Adobe, it seems - at least with Premiere elements.
In the last few years are mainly with Adobe Programmes. It is the only way to get the 'basic' program problems fixed straight away, so I do know the next time I run it actually works!
    ADDITION:
    IT WORKS!
