Elements 10 disk menus

Hi
I have just upgraded from premiere elements 7 to 10 and the selection of disk menus in 10 is worse than 7, less choice and what is available is somewhat childish amd amaturish.  Is there anywhere on the Adobe site to download additional disk menus?
Similarly, I have just upgraded from photoshop 7 to 10 and when making dvd labels the selection in 10 is vastley inferior to what is available in 7, tjey are all basic colours and no paterns at all.  Is there anywhere to download additional artwork for dvd labels.
Another annoyance is screen size, I can hardly read the menus in Photoshop and can't see any way of enlarging the test so that the screen menus appear in a bigger font.
On a more general note, what I detest most about Elements 10 is that unless you let it dial out it will not run.  I have Zone Alarm and it detects 4 different programs requiring to connect and if I do not allow connection the program either will not run or crashes.  It even requires a further connection before it will burn a dvd.
Regards
David

I went through the same upgrade from 7 to 10 and am mostly okay with the overall functionality.  But I agree man, the DVD menus with 10 are really embarrassing.  They are just gimmicky, overly-busy, and clip-arty - the sort of thing somebody's least favorite uncle might use to to impress (i.e., bore) the rest of the family with his vacation, new car, birthday party, etc.
I really wanted something just simple and minimal, and I was able to use PSE10 to hack up a couple of them down to just black screens and menu text.  I still do not exactly know how those things hang together, but I have something that works.  I can always slap my own background in, so they aren't just monotonous.
I also found that I can take the ones from PE7 and copy them to PE10 and use them there.  I made some DVD's with them and they function as expected.  I did get some strange behavior when I *re-opened* saved project where they were being used.  The error was something like "*** is not a valid PE10 project file".  I did not really investigate it though,  Maybe it was a fluke, but then maybe there is some slight incompatibility.  I probably ought to go back and look at it.
I think I might feel better about PE10's DVD menus if they had at least included a few that were just absolute minimal
instead of the golly!-gee!-zowee! collection that they give you to pick from in this version . . .

  • Premiere Elements Disk Menus does not show in replay using Mac Pro OS X 10.9.3

I recently installed Premier Elements 12 on my Mac Pro OS X 10.9.3 (Maverick).
Naturally I want to get the highest possible quality to show off on the TV using a standard DVD player.
Outputting to DVD not using AVCHD retains the menu but not on AVCHD, what am I doing wrong?
The Output Quality using just DVD and not AVCHD is lousy, what have I missed?

    SigiPC
    Thanks for the reply.
    Objective Miscellaneous
Let us start with your objectives. If you are restricted to a DVD disc, then your export choices from Premiere Elements will be
    DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc (720 x 480 stretched to 856 x 480 for display after encoding)
    or
    AVCHD format on DVD disc (1920 x 1080 16:9)
Disc menus are possible as described for main menu page, scene menu page, main menu markers and scene markers. The players will recognize the stop markers placed in a Premiere Elements burn to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, but will not recognize the stop markers in a Premiere Elements burn to AVCHD on DVD disc. There should not be problem with main menu markers or scene markers in either choice.
Also, AVCHD on DVD is not playable in the standard DVD player. You need a Blu-ray player that supports AVCHD on DVD disc. Many do, but some may not. The specifications of the player is your guideline.
For AVCHD on DVD disc, you do not need a Blu-ray DVD burner to burn to AVCHD on DVD disc. That can be done with a DVD burner.
And, under all conditions, a stop marker should never be placed at the end of the last item on the Timeline.
    Specific Replies
What disk menu?  I am talking about “disk menus” as per page 243 of Premiere Elements Manual.
It was my impression that you said that "Disc Menus Do Not Show...", so I was asking which specific disc menu theme are you using? And, is this "do not show" applicable to all the disc menu themes that you have tried to work with?
I am using a Panasonic Blu-Ray player on the TV.
Are the disc menus of your Premiere Elements DVD-VIDEO or AVCHD on DVD not displaying solely with this Panasonic player? Or, is the same observed with computer playback of the DVD product? If the missing menus in the end product issue that brought you here involves solely the Panasonic player, then I would ask if you have checked the player for any option that would control the display of menus in the playback?
Not sure if I am using “interlaced video” but you would know from my input sources mentioned above.
You wrote "My source media is output from iPhoto and Fotomagico slide shows whose output is MP4 MOV or M4V and if played back in Quicktime are of very acceptable quality (H.264 1920X1080)". That does not tell me if 1080p or 1080i, but I suspect that it is 1080p. The MediaInfo properties readout will give a definite answer.
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaInfo/3000-2169_4-10413046.html
Just be careful for unwanted carry alongs with the MediaInfo free program. But iPhoto and Fotomagico should be telling you before export whether you are exporting 1080i or 1080p. My main focus on the Premiere Elements 1080p DSLR aspects related to slideshow is the fact that that Premiere Elements DSLR project presets seem to give consistently a sharper photo image in the end product. So when applicable (photo and video wise) it is the preferred route for me and others.
“Quality area” and space requirements are not of concerns at this stage since present show length is not even 30 minutes – or should I be concerned for some other reason but space?
As routine, the Quality area Space Required and Bitrate should be known, even for your 30 minute Timeline content duration. You should be working with a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space" and watching the Bitrate in that area. Anything lower than the maximum 8.00 Mbps indicates that the program is making a fit by lowering the Bitrate. The extent that it does not impacts the quality of the end product. Also, of note, the that Bitrate is a variable one in the end product.
This may or may not affect what you are doing now, but it is important information to include in the discussion "just in case".
Also, related trivia...DVD disc marked 4.7 GB/120 minutes is in reality 4.38 GB; DVD disc marked 8.5 GB/240 minutes is in reality 7.95 GB.
Are we any closer to getting at why your disc menus are disappearing after end product creation in Premiere Elements and at playback with your Panasonic player?
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Disk Menus aren't working?

Hey.  I'm using Premier Elements 8 and am trying to add a disk menu, but have been unsucessful.
Click the magenta Disk Menus tab and see only a few options.
Click one of them and then apply
    This box pops up...
Do I really have to sign up for something at Adobe in order to add a menu?  Well I did it (quite some time ago), have not seen anything show up in my email box.
I already have an adobe ID but this must be something different.
very frustrating that the instructions in help bear so little resemblance to what I see on screen and I can't get away from this completely uninformative pop up.  What am I doing wrong?

Very interesting.  I downloaded the content and installed it, found a more palitable menu, and got it working.  I even saw that I could put my long and short versions of this small video on the same disk and the menu would handle it.  Worked just like I'd imagined.
Yeah, of course there's a "but"...
When I went to burn, I kept running into the "Device Error-the target device isn't suitable for Use"  even if I was writing to a folder instead of a disk.
Tried the cleaning the disks, and even took the project and put it on it's own 500GB drive so disk space is not an issue.  The solution was to nuke the menu.  Could it be that that was the staw that broke the camel's back space wise?  Yeah, but my feeling (just as valid as anything at this point) is that it was something about the menus.  Who knows.
I'll try another version latter (once the meds kick in) with a menu, but not the shorter version added at the end.

  • System doesn't recognize the software programs on the Photoshop elements disk?

How do I get my Windows XP system to recognize the software programs on the Photoshop Elements disk? This is not a download from the web.  I've got the minimum requirements. Turned off all security systems. Created a separate account for Photoshop. And tried other disks to make sure the drive is working. After hours of troubleshooting I'm ready to return the software.

If the drive is correctly installed on to the sled, and the mounting screws are snug, not tight, and the sled is inserted properly so that all the roof-tangs catch as the sled is inserted, failure to show up in Disk Utility means the drive is not useable.
A Bug in 10.8.4 and later precludes Disk Utility ERASE-ing large drives in Internal bays. Use PARTITION only, and create one new partition, GUID partition Map, Mac OS Extended (journaled) Volume.

  • Elements 12 movie/disk menus

I'm so disappointed there is no predesigned movie/disk menu for the Retro TV theme.  Second best, would be to have a blank menu available to add all your own pictures but I don't see that either.  What's my best option for making the movie and menu cohesive?
    Thanks.

Adobe still offers Content download for its Premiere Elements 7, 8, 9, and 10. I have described how that is done with the end result being an automatic install of the Content into its correct computer hard drive location on your computer for the version that you have.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE 7, 8, 9,10: Content Download
So, the classical view is that you have purchased one of these versions and are downloading and installing this Content to whichever of these versions you have.
You can also download this Content to be saved to your computer and later installed using a setup.exe that is included in the download. When you choose this route, you find out that you must have installed on your computer the version of Premiere Elements corresponding to the version specific Content.
However, it is technically possible (without too much trouble) to obtain a Retro TV disc menu from this same Premiere Elements 8 Content download and install it in Premiere Elements 12. But, at this point, I cannot endorse it without input from Adobe. In one sense, I read this as OK  only if you have purchased version 8. I am still reading through the Adobe General Terms of Use referenced at the bottom of the web page for the Content downloads.

  • Premiere Elements: Ghosted Menus

Evidently I'm an idiot, but I'll prove it for the third time in 20 minutes. I can't seem to see the question that I've posted twice before so bear with me, please. I had to uninstall my Premiere Elements 9 and then reinstall it because all the menus were ghosted. I received no errors on the installation or when I start the application. The menus are still ghosted, however (except help). Any help out there? This was part of a software bundle a few years ago. Happy New Year, by the way.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for mistargeting your menus...my first thought was disc menus and not workspace menus.
The screenshot you present is normal under the File Menu before a new project or existing project is opened. Nothing happening after selecting
existing project needs to be investigated. What happens if you click on new project? Can you open a new project?
Let us rule in or out the usual factors and fixes
    1. If you are not already, work from the 9.0.1 Update as described in a prior post in your thread.
    2. Deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or, if necessary, the whole 9.0 folder that the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can see the whole path cited.
    3. Miscellaneous...determine if problem exists with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled; work with mouse instead of pen and tablet device; be sure to be running the program from a user account with administrative privileges; make sure the latest version of QuickTime is installed on the computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1.
    4. If none of the above resolves any of the issues, then it is time for uninstall, free ccleaner run through, and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
    5. Last resort measure is to create a new user account with administrative privileges and try to install and run the program from there. But lots of ideas
between 3 and 5, so let us take one step at a time.
We will be watching for your results.

  • Do I really loose disk menus when I restore a PrE Project from an Archive?

    Say it's not true.
    However, that appears to happen.
I transferred (via archive) a project from one computer (running windows 7 professional) to another computer (running windows 8.1) and the menus are gone.
    Premiere Elements 11
    MS Windows 8.1

    Right On! You said:
"For reasons known to Adobe, I believe that the Movie Menu information is embedded in the project.prel, and it needs to trace back to the Movie      Menu Theme Folder (completed). Without further studies, I am not sure if it is programmed to look for the Online Folder and/or the specific name of      the completed Movie Menu Theme Folder on the computer."
I set up an empty project this morning using the Movie Menu in question on the Windows 8 machine.  After I saved that empty project, I again restored the project that was missing the menus yesterday.  Walla!  The missing menus appeared populated with the menu photos and audio I had added.
Gee, one would think "Archive" meant "Archive" and the output would not be dependent on the presence of other files on the system on which the archive is opened.  I guess Adobe "thinks" the Menus are part of their softwar and not media.  A way of thinking they should correct.
Of course Adobe does not focus on long term retention of "Projects" developed with their software.  That's most of the other problem regarding "Organizer Slide Shows" I am working on.  They just have not thought through keeping a project "in tact" through system upgrades and moving from computer to computer.
I hope you will find a way to inform Adobe of this HOLE in their Archive Process.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Adobe premier element disk pile up

It seems like som working files i premier element gets left on the c disk even after deleting projekts. I can´t find those files on my c disk and I dont know what file ending they have.
    Need help.
    Laursen77

Have you followed our advice and created a new folder whenever you create a new project? If so, all of these files will be saved in that folder and removing them, once you're finished with your project is as simple as deleting the folder.
Otherwise, you'll need to manually delete these files. They're locating the following folders, in the same directory where you saved your project file:
    Adobe Premiere Elements Auto-Save
    Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files
    Encoded Files
    Stop Motion Capture

  • Adobe Premier Elements 7- crash-when burning says" Please insert a blank disk" and already a disk in

I have a Adobe Premier Elements 7. I have had a lot of problems with it of crashing and not burning.. I just had my computer wiped out and installed everything back on like windows xp service pack 3..etc. First I have Windows XP service pack 3 with an Intel Core 2CPU ,6400 @213GHz, 2.13 GHz, 1.98 GB of RAM.  When I went into disk menus premier elements 7 crashes... why is that??? also I tried to burn a DVD and does the progress of burniing and almost done burning WHILE there is a dvd in the drive and says"Please insert a blank disk and click ok to burning" why doe sit do that also? I just had adobe reinstalled and my computer wiped out? Please respond and help.. I am using this program as a business of video editing and nee this solved.

Along with Steve's questions, let's talk about the process of Burning a DVD-Video.
From PrE, which is doing the authoring of the DVD-Video, the first thing that happens is a quick check of the Project and the Menu Set chosen. This happens in an instant. Next, the program must Transcode the Timeline to MPEG-2 that is fully DVD-compliant. This takes some time and is a very intensive process, stressing the computer, and also heating things up greatly. This process will often cause a poorly ventilated, or poorly cooled computer to crash with either a reboot, or a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Every component, save for the video card, will be stressed like few other programs can do. PrE uses a 2-pass Transcode, where it goes through the entire Timeline, and maps out sections with high motion, or great detail. It builds a "script" on how to proceed, and then goes back at the Timeline with that script, but also still looking for ways to improve things. This is about 90% of the entire Burn Disc process. Nothing has yet to be burned. Instead, files are created in the Scratch Disk folders. Now, the program takes those newly created MPEG-2 files, the Menus, and all navigation such as Markers, and assembles them into another working folder, in the full DVD structure of VIDEO_TS folder with the IFO, BUP and VOB's. When this is done, the actual physical Burn starts. This is quite a ways into the total process. It is at this point, that the program looks at the burner and the blank media, and not before.
When the program cannot get the necessary info from the burner, or the blank media, it will throw an error message, similar to yours. Also, "SenseCode Errors" usually indicate a problem with the burner, or the media.
Now, let's address this last bit. Is the firmware for your burner up to date? If not, update/flash the firmware. This will be available from your burner mfgr's. Web site. Next, what brand of blank media are you using? Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the most recommended brands. Memorex, TDK, newer Ritek and all store brands should be avoided at all costs. Last, is your burner a fully-certified multi-drive? If so, it should be able to handle +R, or -R media. What type are you using, and are you sure that this is blank media, and not a disc that you have already burned, or even attempted to burn?
Hope that we can stop the crashes, and get you to burning.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Photoshop Elements 11 boxed software installed once in Dec. 2012 won't install on new computer. Disk can't be read (tested on 3 different computers). How is that even possible of a meticulously clean, well-protected disk?

    Dear Adobe,
    I need your help!
On December 12th, 2012 I ordered (purchased) by mail an official copy of the boxed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 software from B&H Photo (New York, NY). I installed it successfully without any problem on my then computer. I have enjoyed using the program since then, it’s great. This past week, however, that same computer died and I was force to buy a new computer (Windows 8.1).
To my big surprise, the Elements disk wouldn’t load off my DVD drive. The drive just kept “clicking” for 20 minutes.  After trying several times from reboot, for an hour and a half, I then tried installing it on my laptop, just to see if my drive was faulty. No, it wasn’t. It too immediately went into an endless “clicking” routine trying to read the disk. And for one last try, I put it in my sister’s laptop and she got the very same result - endless “clicking”, no install. No computer could read the disk!!!
How is this even possible from a commercially made disk I used only once in 2012! The disk is meticulously clean, unscratched, unscuffed, put away in its original box and stored on my shelf in a cool place away from the sun!
Serial Number of faulty disk:  1057-4186-6029-0039-1511-3940
Is there anything you can do about this as I see no reason why I should be forced to spend over a $130 (in Canada) to replace a disk that worked only once!

I do not fully understand the situation you are in with the disc that you presently have....
    a. why you cannot use AutoPlay to install from the disc
    b. if you do not want to do "a", why you cannot copy the installation disc to the computer and then use the Setup.exe file.
Lots of questions to get your installation disc usable, but....
To cut to a quick solution to your problem, provided you have a purchased serial number for Premiere Elements 9....
Go to the following web site and download and install the Premiere Elements 9 tryout. During installation of this tryout, insert
your purchased serial number to make it your working copy. The key to success in this particular route is to read and carry out
carefully the web site's "Note: Very Important Instructions" and its click "here" so that you do not run into Access Denied.

  • Can I install photoshop elements 10 without disk using serial numbers?

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Macbook Air, which doesn't have a disk drive. I have a photoshop elements disk with serial numbers, but obviously without anywhere to put the disk I can't install it with that. I'm wondering if there's a way to download photoshop elements with just the serial numbers. I looked everywhere for a solution and nothing has come up so far.

  • Is Premiere Elements 8 working correctly for you?

Sorry, to beat an old horse but I do not want to end a discussion that has not been resolved.
I would like to keep this open as I think knowing who is having problems and on what type of video would be quite helpful to Adobe support who is looking to help me, they said they would be watching the forums and my posts to see what issues I and others are having to try and resolve them.
I am not able to edit HD videos using Genius G-Shot HD520 camcorder but I am able to edit SD videos using Coby Snapp Cam3000.
I can edit videos from both cameras in Windows Movie Maker and Cyberlink PowerDirector.
When i try to edit videos that are high definition the program does not respond even after leaving it for 1/2 hour or so.
I am also having the program not shut down correctly at times even when editing standard video, parts of the program still are running even though windows does not show it in task manager. A program called Winpatrol still sees it running and the core load shows way too much activity after the program has supposedly stopped, even an hour afterward. This does not happen all the time, only sporadically.
    My systems:
amd athlon 64 X2 dual core 5000+ @ 3 Ghz, PNY NVIDIA 9800GTX+ graphics card(driver ver.195.81), gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4 GB RAM, Seagate 7200RPM sata drive with 200+ GB freespace, windows vista 32 bit business

Please help me get some useful information gathered for support to lead them in the right direction.
PLEASE, no useless arguments or  troubleshooting attempts from those who are not running Adobe Premiere Elements 8.
I would like to get some feedback from users of Adobe Premiere Elements 8, not others.
    1. Does Adobe Premiere Elements 8 work for you with standard videos for simple editing?
    2. Does PE 8 work with high definition video for simple editing?
    3. If you are having problems with PE 8 not working as it should what are they and how are you getting them resolved?
I would like to get real problems that are things that the program should be doing and is not.
Issues like freezing, not importing or exporting video or failing to edit a type of video is what I think support would like to hear about.
    Thank you.
    Jeff Gedgaud

    1. Does Adobe Premiere Elements 8 work for you with standard videos for simple editing?
Never.  Crashes every single time I have tried to use the program.  It crashes at various random times on miniDV video from a Panasonic GS400.  Magix, PowerDirector and Widows MM edit this same source material without issue.  I have absolutely no interest in spending countless hours on the phone with a guy from India or wherever telling me to uninstall and reinstall the program or do a clean install of Windows, or reading something from a script that obviously has nothing to do with the problem, only to have the phone conversation cut off and it be impossible to reach the same person again, only to have to start over.  Here is the latest crash example.
    1.       Launched PRE8
    2.       Opened a project from the welcome screen.  Project consists of DV-AVI files from a Canon GS400.  Project is 23 minutes and 39 seconds in duration.
    3.       Resized the timeline using the “+” and “-“ clickies.
    4.       Clicked the Edit tab.
    5.       Clicked Transitions.
    6.       Clicked the existing “Stretch In” transition on Video Track 1 and pressed the “Delete” key.
    7.       Clicked and dragged the “Cross Zoom” transition between the first and second clip on Video Track 1, where the “Stretch In” transition was previously located.
    8.       Rendered the Timeline by pressing “Enter.”
    9.       Previewed the video near the newly added “Cross Zoom” transition.
    10.   Double clicked the transition in the Timeline and scrubbed the duration to approximately 5 and a half seconds.
    11.   Rendered the Timeline by pressing “Enter.”
    12.   Previewed the video near the just lengthened “Cross Zoom” transition.
    13.   Saved the project by pressing the “Save” icon near the top right hand corner of the program.
    14.   Clicked the “Disk Menus” and selected the “Holiday and Events” drop down.
    15.   Selected the “Blinking Lights” menu and clicked on “Apply.”
    16.   Clicked the “Preview” button.
    17.   Clicked “Play” in the “Preview” window and allowed the video to play for a few seconds and clicked “Pause ||”.
    18.   “X’ed” out of the “Preview” window and clicked the “Done” button.
    19.   Clicked the “Edit” tab and clicked “Clip Art.”

    2. Does PE 8 work with high definition video for simple editing?
I have not tried hi def.
    3. If you are having problems with PE 8 not working as it should what are they and how are you getting them resolved?
I am not getting them resolved.  I am posting to this forum seeking answers.  I have gone through all the proper Adobe channels with no results.  Check around for multiple threads.  I have sent numerous crash reports to Adobe with no response.  No one on this forum nor Adobe has been able to provide a solution that actually works.  Again, Adobe hasn't even tried.
Everything I have stated in this thread is a fact and my actual experience, not speculation.  I too would like the thread to remain open in the hopes of a resolution.  Discourse should not be cut short because it goes against Adobe.  After all, this is a user to user forum that Adobe does not even monitor right, and we as a user group should seek and demand the truth and solutions without being sensored.  I have seen no behavior by anyone in any thread that I have been involved in that should have caused it to be locked.  I have seen healthy differences of opinion and a lot of useless informationas it relates to the problem at hand, but no discourse that was hostile or personal attacks that should have caused a lock.
    Below are my system specifications.
    Thanks
    Glenn
