Elements 10 is freezing after unsuccessfully trying to rebuild content and effects library, help?
Hi guys,
I recently got some actions and proceded to install them as I've done with actions in the past...put them in the photo effects folder, then go to the Locale folder and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file. (I'm on a mac, in the case that it's different for PC).
It's worked in the past for me, but for some reason, the last time I tried that, the content and effects library wouldn't rebuild. It got 75% done and then froze.
Luckily I had kept an old MediaDatabase.db3 file in case that ever happened. So I just deleted the unfinished MediaDatabase.db3 file and put the old one back in the folder and opened Elements 10. Elements 10 opened, but then wouldn't let me use any menus whatsoever. I got the spinning beachball of death.
I don't know what happened...like I said, nothing I did was out of the ordinary and this has worked for me before!
Any suggestions? Short of completely reinstalling Elements (which I don't even know if I can do, since I only got one activation code when I bought it.)

Yes, you could reinstall PSE, but that shouldn't be necessary. Acivation is hardware related so it doesn't matter, and the uninstaller gives you the option to deactivate when uninstalling. Try deleting mediadatabase again, and this time also delete thumbsDatabase.db3, which is in hard drive>library>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>10.0.
That's assuming this isn't the app store version. Is it?

My IPad screen is grey even after I tried pressing the sleep and home button for reboot but turns out it stays grey.
You can try to reboot a few more times. If it doesn't come back and you normally sync to a computer, hook it up and see if the 'guts' are working even if the screen isn't.
Beyond that you should make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. -
I gave my ipad 2 to my brother last month. After that he erased all content and settings, sign in with his apple id. 1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

Something has gone wrong, as this should have happened almost instantaneously. Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -
Powermac G5 - Freeze after startup, tried everything
Hi, I have a Powermac G5 Dual, its a few years old and I previously had an issue with the screen (line patterns and lank screen) which was serviced and in the end they replaced my ATI Radeon graphis card which seemed to do the trick.
Since updating to Leopard OS 10.5.6 whenever I start my computer up I get the chime etc and i can log in on my password screen, but straight on the desktop the mouse keyboard everything freezes and occasionally this is followed or preceeded with a blank screen. The fans then Rev up pretty loud. Additonally i do not have any 3rd party RAM
Ive tried a lot of stuff such as
resetting PRAM
trying to boot in safe mode (gets stuck on white screen with apple logo, doesnt boot)
running fsck -fy

If it should go wrong with the drive (which I honestly can't imagine), at least you tried the cheapest option and you're still be able to buy a new computer. It's an easy job installing those drives, certainly much more easy then in a MacMini! And harddisks come usually with 3 or 5 years guarantee. The only thing you should be aware of is static electricity, so ground yourself and don't touch the electronics!
Seagate is not the best choice, because of firmware problems with some of those.
Take my advise and do what I did: buy yourself one (or maybe two) 640 GB Western Digital WD6400AAKS "Blue" drives and you'll have one of the fastest, coolest running and most silent universal drives you can get for your good money. It's not the large capacity that counts here, but the overall speed of this particular type of harddisk (the 320 GB version in the same series has proven to be much slower!).
For super fast booting, devide it in f.i. 150 GB for the first partition (that's the outer part of the spindle with platters inside, which rotates at the highest speed), and reserve that for your system and applications only. The rest can be used for storage.

[SOLVED] Getting freezes after using dwm for some time and exiting it
Hello, I have an Asus Ux51, with a fresh (less than a month) arch installation. If I recall correctly I had a couple of freezes in other occasions but I don't remember much about those so I rather focus on the only freeze I can more or less reproduce and I've been having lately. After using dwm for some time with a couple of programs opened (rTorrent, browser, and some terminals for instance), if I close dwm or just press the power button to shut down, it starts closing everything and either stays with a black screen, or hangs while X prints the log information. It's not always though, for example, if I just boot it, open dwm and close it without giving it much use it usually closes fine.
Tried googling a bit to see the usual ways to troubleshoot this but didn't get really far.

Found this recent thread in the forums, I'll give REISUB a try late, but the times it freezed I remember trying to blindly reboot it, or switching off virtual console and couldn't.
In case it's of any use, this is my # uname -a

Could it have something to do with the nvidia optimus setup that this laptop has? When installing arch I found out that there was no support yet for it so I'm just using the intel drivers (following what the arch wiki said).

Last edited by contiver (2013-08-16 20:25:34)I don't start st in my .xinitrc. I launch it from dmenu and usually everything is fine. If I launch it from dwm's internal command using Alt-Shf-Return, X freezes 100% of the time. A workaround was suggested by st's main developer to call st like this:

Very rarely X will freeze anyway. I haven't been able to pin it down. When X fails, my journal returns this:

Have you tried restoring the iPod from an older backup?
If that doesn't work try restoring it to factory settings.

WVC80N Monitoring Utility Software- Freezes after one or two frames. Tech support no help!
Hello All,
I have a new WVC80N cam and a new WRT230N router. After installing both, everything is up and running perfectly via IE. I can access from any IE computer with no problems. HOWEVER, the desktop monitoring utility will NOT work! I only have one cam attached (wired because the sound it TERRIBLE if wireless despite HOURS of troubleshooting with tech support) but it freezes after one or two frames. I've tried on XP and Vista. Tech Support in Irvine, CA simply siad there is a software conflict (and that there are many they know of), but offered NO other diagnostic help. He simply said it's probably conflicting with another video compression software on my computer and to start uninstlling programs until the problem is fixed! WAY TO GO TECH SUPPORT....THATS A REAL SOLUTION FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! Oh and he asked me to notify them IF I found the problem!!!!
Does anyone have any ideas about common software that may be causing my conflicts? Or has anyone experienced the same issues? There isn't much on these boards about this problem and I can't believe that I'm the only one who has experienced the utility software NOT working on TWO different computers and two Operating systems. These are my first linksys products in a VERY long time, and so far they'll be my last!!!!!!!!

Your problem is exactly my problem. I tried both Windows Xp and 7. I can see live video, but the utility only record for a few second and freeze. There is no tech support in my country - cambodia, so I'm in a more serious situation. I also need help. May be I should tried from a fresh windows installation, but what is it good for. It takes lot of time to reinstall everything. Your comments do suggest some software conflict. I think I will try it on my laptop rather than my desktop, which I do not have lot of software installed on my laptop.

One of my kids ipods needed an update. It wouldn't let me do it via the itouch (like the other 2 itouches did). I had to connect to the PC, sync, update and then restore. Once I did, the apps could be downloaded again via icloud (which wasn't on the itouch before) but progress on games that were through Gamecenter did not transfer. Tried logging into Gamecenter and it states the user name is already taken. Yeah, I know it's already taken, BY MY DAUGHTER!!! Apparently she has a dragon game app that she manages through Gamecenter that she has worked her way to level 22 and now it is all gone. It wants her to restart from level 1. I know this isn't life or death and not like losing work data etc. But to a 9 year old who has spent $40 of her own money on gems, coins etc....... this is the end of the world. LOL. I do want to try to help her, I just don't know how.

Hello. No message shown. The downloading does not complete at all, I tried like 20 times but no one worked. The closest I was to downloaded it, was with 66 mb (the new version has 66.1) As stated on the web page of apple I uninstalled itunes and all its accesories or common programs. Now I am unable to install the new version and I am more frustrating since I did it to sincronized it wit my new ipad! In consequence, no message at all, the downloading simply stops at 49%, 67% or 99% :(
