Elements 10 Locking up

Whenever I click on the "Text" icon it locks up my photoshop and my computer

Wow. I have used this a million times and never had this problem until today. I did what you suggested and it worked. Thanks a bunch for the help! Dale

When you click on the Text icon, PSE has to enumerate all the fonts installed on your system and build its font selection menu from that info. It can take a while, so wait it out. Ken

WBS Element locked or closed?

Hi All,
One of the consultant was rolled out from the project, and we want to remove that consultant from the project. Can you please suggest whether i have to lock the wbs 2nd level or close the wbs element. For further reports i should not want that consultant to be pulled in the report.

Hi,
Analyse the existing logic and check from where the employee details are getting fetched in the Z report. You can then modify the logic accordingly. As suggested in the post above, write a logic in such a way that it excludes WBS that are closed/locked.

Element Locked by Forms (hr_entry_api)

Hi,
I am using the API hr_entry_api.delete_element_entry
in concurrent program.
Program is keep on running its not completing since the
particular element entry is locked by the Front End forms.
So how to handle such situation???
Pls advice me.Its urgent request.

Its not a processed element.
The scenario is if the client runt the E-Entry interface with wrong file then it should be deleted.
So if any of the Entry being updated,my program should skip thhat Records
and process the next record with appropriate error message .

Elements locks up when opening photos

I have not been able to use photoshop elements 11 since I installed it. It keeps locking up when I try of open a picture.

Can you open an image directly from a folder on your hard drive? You right-click on a file and choose Open With Photoshop Elements 11 or Photoshop Elements 11 Editor.

Photoshop Elements Locking Up

I had a message that I had an update to my Photoshop Elements 7 and I clicked to do the update. Afterwards, I now can load the program but when I try to do a task, i.e. add a tag, start a new album, etc., the program locks up. I have rebooted mutiple times and the same issue is there. Do I reload the program? If so, will I loose the work I've done in Organize, etc.

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start.
Close Elements and click the Windows start button.
Navigate to:
John > AppData >Roaming >Adobe >Photoshop Elements >9.0 >Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
Re-start the program
N.B. replace John with your own user name

Elements locked in partial layer and unresponsive

The transparent layer is locked and my picture is on the layer over it.
But the screen keeps flashing, showing the transparent layer and when I try to
unlock it, "locked in partial layer" appears on the right. How can I clear this and
reset the system. There is also another file on the Organizer desktop that won't
close. All thumbs today.

Thank you for your email. As you can tell I am new to Photoshop. Each time I tried to clear it, I ended up putting more layers on top of the first one. When I took the layers off, one at a time, I was able to get it unlocked. I had left an image on Organize which locked in place and that combination partially locked the bottom layer. The entire system was unresponsive. It took me a couple of hours of trial and error and it wasn't until I got it unlocked that I realized what I had done. Thank you again for your response. I work a lot in Mac Paint and am not used to using layers. I guess I am going to have to buy a manual on Photoshop to keep me out of trouble and help me master this.

Hi...
I just want to know, how I can create the following in
Dreamweaver CS3:
Eg: I have 4 form elements: Active, Name, Surname, Comments
Now. When viewing the page containing the form, it should
only display the Active Tickbox. WHEN you have ticked the Active
tickbox, it should then UNHIDE the Name, Surname and Comments
elements.
Any Ideas how it could be done using Dreamweaver...? Even if
it can be done like except hiding elements, just make the other
elements "locked" or grayed out...?

Creating slideshow locks up program

When using photoshop 10 to create a slideshow, my photoshop elements locks up. How can I fix this?

I've thought about the race condition... I'll look into it, especialy since I'm using a few local variables in the program.
As for the Bytes At Serial Port, by trail & error, I found I had to put that vi before the Read Serial Port vi or the Read vi would not work. Without using the Bytes At Serial Port vi, the readout would look like pure ASCII and did not make any sense. Assuming it *was* ascii, I converted several data points to decimal and it made no sense. By using Bytes At Serial Port, the gibberish ascii looking stuff became decimal and the data was correct. I grab 5 bytes because that gives me 3 digits right of the decimal point.

ImgSessionStatus returns -1 for bufferIndex : what's wrong?

I am using LabWindows/CVI, and I created a low-level ring acquisition. It works normally at first, but if I stop it and start a few times (does not always happen on the first stop / start cycle), then on the third session the function imgSessionStatus passes back "-1" for the active buffer index. Why would it do this??
Code:
error = imgSessionStatus(Sid, &status, &currentRingBufNum);
Which is usually followed by, except when currentRingBufNum has been set to "-1" by imgSessionStatus.

I stop my acquisition by :
imgSessionAbort(Sid, &ringBufNum);
Then I unlock my ring buffer, dispose each element, dispose of the buffer list, close the session and then the interface. The next acquisition starts by opening the interface, opening a session, creating a buffer list, creating and allocating each element, locking the buffer list, and configuring the session to use that buffer list. Why do I get this error??

I thought I would post an update in case anyone else has this problem. I have not solved it, but a work around has essentially made it a non-issue. imgSessionStatus returning "-1" only seems to occur on the first attempted frame grab, so I simply have my frame-grabbing callback ignore any buffers returned as "-1". On all future iterations until the acquisition is halted, imgSessionStatus returns good buffers.
Additionally, error trapping reduced this headache while I was developing and troubleshooting it. I wrapped all IMAQ functions with:
error = imgSessionStatus(arguments);
if (error) showError(error);
Nothing new or innovative, of course, but it was helpful.

How to make files read only

I want to make files read only. Any workaround is welcomed.

When you say worksheet are you meaning the entire file? When you say file lock are you meaning password protection? You can see I am confused.

Based on what ElMagoElGato has described, password protecting would be of no value to him. Once the file is accessed, it is in edit mode. Unless I'm really missing something.
Files I have imported from Mac iworks apps with elements locked stay locked for me in iOS. Not sure what the problem is.

Can't Edit Text in Card

I did a search but couldn't find any info. I'm trying to create a card in iPhoto, which I've done before but its not letting me edit the text in the card. I can highlight the standard text thats already there but when I type, it doesn't do anything. If I cut the text thats already there, it goes away, and then if I copy and paste text from something else, it'll show up in the card... but I can't type directly into the card.
Any help?

Ok it seems like it's caused by not closing a div element within an editable region. In order to give each page a unique ID I have the following in my templates: <div class="wrap">
If i close the div off before  live view text edit works but then obviously my page is not wrapped in the div with the unique ID so it's no good.
Is there a way around this - I need to be able to wrap pages in unique ID's for CSS styling of individual pages but also need to use templates to keep the basic layout elements locked.

Why does this ring operation occasionally give an error?

I am using LabWindows/CVI, and I created a low-level ring acquisition. It works normally at first, but if I stop it and start a few times (does not always happen on the first stop / start cycle), then I get the error:
NON-FATAL RUN-TIME ERROR: "Dalsa.c", line 2716, col 13, thread id 0x000012A4: Function imgSessionCopyBuffer: (return value == -1074397014 [0xbff600aa]).
The requested buffer has been overwritten and is no longer available. It occurs on the second line of the following code:
(2715) imgGetAttribute(Sid, IMG_ATTR_LAST_VALID_BUFFER, &currentRingBufNum);
(2716) imgSessionCopyBuffer(Sid, currentRingBufNum, (uInt8*)pixel_address, FALSE);
I stop my acquisition by :
imgSessionAbort(Sid, &ringBufNum);
Then I unlock my ring buffer, dispose each element, and finally dispose of the buffer list. The next acquisition starts by creating a buffer list, creating and allocating each element, locking the buffer list, and configuring the session to use that buffer list. I am NOT closing the session or the interface, I only do that upon quitting my program. Why do I get this error??

I have made some progress on narrowing the error down, but it still remains a large problem. Error trapping allows me to avoid the necessity of rebooting the system. However, I must still close and re-open my LabWindows application in order to successfully acquire from a ring.
I have narrowed the problem down to the buffer index provided by "imgSessionStatus" : on the acquisition that throws an error, it returns "-1" as the current buffer index. Why is this??
I have modified my program so that I close both the session and the interface when I hit "Stop", and yet I'm still receiving this problem when I attempt to restart the ring acquisition after stopping. I have also started using "imgStopAcquisition" instead of "imgSessionAbort". What could I not be properly resetting after I free, dispose and close the buffers, buffer list, session and interface? Obviously the resource is being properly freed upon application closure, so I must be missing something ...

OUD Design Question

I've got an interesting problem that I'm trying to see if I can solve within OUD.
Company is using an internal OUD Directory for authentication to all sorts of apps. Some of these apps are available externally and are protected by an SSO solution (OAM in this case). The company uses sequential userid, for example D00000 to D999999. The problem is that a hacker could easily write a script to loop through all IDs, attempt 5 bad passwords and effectively lock everyone out.
What I'm trying to do is the following, and I'm not sure if it will work:
The external authentication app (OAM) will use the 'oblockedout' attribute to lock an account after 5 bad attempts. I'm trying to figure out a way to virtualize this attribute and somehow make the virtual one available externally, and the real 'oblocked' available internally. To further clarify what I mean by virtualizing the attribute, I would create a new real attribute called 'dmzlockedout', and the virtual 'oblockedout' would point to this. If a user is locked out through the DMZ, all it would do is set the 'dmzlockedout' attribute, which wouldn't lock them out internally. This should be straight forward enough to set up (hopefully, never tried it). The question is, how do I make the internal requests use the real oblockedout and external ones use the virtual one.
These are the two ideas I have but I need someone with more knowledge to guide with feasibility or best practice
Option A: In the DMZ, I create a new OUD Proxy instance that points to the internal one. Can I create the virtual attribute here, applicable to a proxy? Would this work?
Option B: Using only the internal OUD, I create a 2nd LDAP connection handler on a new port, point this to a different network-group that uses the same database, and I add the virtual attribute to this network group. I then point my DMZ OAM to this new port. Would this work?
To me, Option B seems the simplest with the least overheard, but I'm not sure if everything I understand about connection handlers/networkgroups/virtual attributes would make this a viable option.
Thoughts? Is there a better way still to handle this problem? Any advice would be very appreciated

Let me try to rephrase:
- oblocked is set to true after 5 bad password attempts to internal apps. Internal apps get/check this attribute to refuse access
- dmzblocked is set to true after 5 bad password attempts to external apps.
- External apps do not use the dmzblocked flag to figure out lock state. They rather use a virtual locked attribute (could be a new attribute name or oblocked that would be superceeded) that is set to true when the following condition is satisfied:           dmzblocked is TRUE OR oblocked is TRUE.
Would that address your needs ?
If so we need to use 2 distinct mechanisms/features:
-1 ability to transparently generate a virtual locked attribute based on the condifition above
-2 expose this virtual attribute to external apps only
For #1, I recommand to use the OUD Transformations described at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E49437_01/admin.111220/e22648/proxy_functionality.htm#BGBFIEDA
Basically you can add a OutboudTransformation that would override the content of the oblocked attribute with the content of the dmzblocked attribute if and only if dmzblocked is true. This way, oblocked value is true when dmzblocked is true or the real oblock is true. Such transformation would be activated for external apps only.
Here are the basic steps to configure such a transformation:
First create the tranformation

You could also deploy a OUD proxy for external traffic only with the tranformation activate as a proxy might provide additional services to protect your infrastructure from
external access.

Testing Elements 11 on my Apple Air and get lock ups

I am testing out Elements 11 on my Apple Air and it works well for quick video edits. I just attempted to use the Instant Movie feature and it locks up at 100% and never finishes. I have to Force kill the application. Is this an issue with my laptops capability here is my configuration:

1.3 GHz
Memory 4 GB

Thanks for the reply. If the Instant Movie is 30 seconds in duration, I would be less likely to have considered system resources. I was thinking that you had at least a several minutes Instant Movie. But, that factor should be ruled in or out.
But, there is the possibility of a source format conflict. Also, when you create the Instant Movie, do you click Yes to the Instant Movie request for permission to remove existing effects added to the clip before it creates the final Instant Movie? Or, do you end up with the effects applied to the clip before Instant Movie plus the effects the Instant Movie has applied?
If you had not already, for troubleshooting purposes, you might want to look at some jpeg photos as source to determine if they behave in Instant Movie as do your present source media for the feature.

Colors locked in Photoshop Elements 6
I created a 1 layer TIFF file in Photoshop Elements 6 with text only which was distorted then flattened. The result was grey text on a white background. The problem is I can't change the color of the gray text.
I select the Foreground color icon on the tool bar at the left side, then I get the color pallet window, but no matter what color I select the Foreground color icon can only be gray or white (if I chose a lighter color).
Somehow 24 bits worth of color choices are converted to 1 bit (gray or white), and there's no obvious controls to change this, no F1 help guides and no obvious knowledgebase or forum comments. Does the file format, which is unknown to me, govern Photoshop operations (?), which would of course make absolutely no sense even if it were true, because that should only be an output formatting decision.
