Elements 10 Organizer help Please

Just installed Adobe Elements 10 Organizer and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and did all updates.
In Organizer I would like to know the reason "Copy Files on Import" is grayed out and how to get it active so I can uncheck it. No Photos imported from my hard disk yet.
I think I just want to import the thumbnails and leave the originals where they are.

Elements does not physically import photos. It simply makes links to the images on your hard drive and creates a thumbnail preview in the Organizer.

Photoshop Elements 12 organizer Help Please

I have downloaded all my scrapbooking grahics into the organizer and it's been fine up until yesterday. After I scrapbooked a couple layouts I went back into the organizer to use an element again and instead of it showing the graphic it shows an hourglass filling up. This has never happened before. So today I went back in thinking everything has restored itself but all the graphics I used yesterday still show hourglasses instead of the graphic. Now if I click on the hourglass it will show the graphic but what good is that? I have thousands of graphics in there and the rest are fine. So what I just did was delete the kits that it affected out of the organizer. ( Some kits have maybe 25 elements) I should have just deleted the actual element but no stupid me deleted the whole kit. What I was attempting to do was just reinstall them right back into the organizer. Now when I brought the kits back into the organizer, every darn item is an hourglass instead of displaying what it actually is. Please does anyone know what the heck happened and how I can correct it???????

Can you confirm which Camera Raw PSE 12 is actually using by loading the editor and going to Help -> About Plug-in -> Camera Raw.
If you do Help -> Updates it may install the latest camera raw of 8.4 - not on XP or Vista systems.
Do you use any Nikon software to download the images? The older versions have been known to corrupt the files.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 Help Please!

I just installed Photoshop Elements 2.0 and when I go to open it I get an error message saying that the program "Could not initialize Photoshop Elements because the scratch disks are full. This is definately NOT because of my computer's processing power, which runs off of XP has 3 Gigs of ram a 1.5TB hard drive (for my C: drive) and runs off of a 3.2 GHz microprocessor (so it's fairly speedy). I used to have photoshop on my old drive, now my backup (D:) drive, but I recently uninstalledit and reinstalled the program, using the disc, onto my new drive. I've tried cleaning up (using CCleaner) and defragmenting my drive, but nothing seems to work. Please help me out here.

P.S. I don't know if this is an occuring problem on any of the other editions of Elements, but if it is, I'm sure it can probably be solved in the same way, so even if you don't have the 2.0 edition, any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
P.P.S. The photo below is of the error as it currently appears when I start the program and is also attached.

Elements 2 is a very old program but you need to ask in the Elements forum.

If you're feeling brave* you can try the workaround procedure listed here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5956711#5956711.
You'll need to use ACR 8.3 RC1. I found it at http://www.freewarefiles.com/downloads_counter.php?programid=24402. ACR 8.3 final won't work with PSE11. Make sure you click the correct download link - 'Direct Download 1' to get the zip file 'cameraraw8-3cs6_r1_win_110713.zip'.
If your system can't open zip files I highly recommend the free 7-Zip (Google it) to do so.
The '1033' file the instructions refer to is in payloads\AdobeCameraRaw7.0All-051113155157\Assets1_1.zip.
* At your own risk! If any of this is incomprehensible stick with the DNG converter - that's the officially supported method and you'll need to install it anyway to get the profiles installed.

Need iPhoto/Elements file system help please

I have over 8000 photos in various albums in iPhoto 9.
Some photos show up in multiple albums. I assume the various album pics are linked to the one actual picture file on the hard drive.
If I export one album at a time to Elements, will It actually save multiple copies of the same file on the hard drive?

iPhoto'09 allows you to import the albums/events selectively. However iPhoto'011 does not allow that from Elements Organizer.
In iPhoto'09. if you have organized your photos without selecting the preference of copying files in iPhoto library during import, which means, your iPhoto library keeps the references of the images. In such case if you import from iPhoto into Elements Organizer, organizer does not create separate copies.
But yeah in case of iPhoto'011, it does.

I have a page cover I'm trying to design. Started it a few weeks ago maybe.
1. How can I get all the layers to show in the edit column so I can alter them?
2. Why don't they unlock if you press the lock, or anything else for that matter! ?
3. I even tried to start over again out of frustration but the new page shows up checkered. How do I get a blank white page?
Thank you! I wish whoever developed this made it more coherent and user friendly! It's so darn frustrating, you get to hate it and regret ever buying it. It's like the developer was not only a foreigner but from a different planet - someone who didn't understand the human brain or how to make something user friendly.
Sorry for my rant. It's just so frustrating trying to get anything at all done without an Elements 9 advanced degree or phd. It's just not user friendly! And by all means something as UN user-friendly as this should come with a manual.

I split this into a new thread since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the editor busy error.
1. If there are layers they will show in the layers panel. If you saved in a format that doesn't allow you to have layers, like jpg, you don't have any layers anymore, which is why you can't see them. Likewise, if you merged or flattened your layers, they're history.
2. The lock doesn't work the kind of magic you want. (It would be nice.) The lock merely prevents certain kinds of edits from happening to the layer in question. It doesn't mean that many layers are locked into one.
3. Checkerboard means transparent, so that area is blank when you put on another image. It doeoesn't mean you have a checkered background. If you want a solid white background, use the pulldown menu to choose that:

How do I fix my photoshop elemnts 8 after I received a message "PSE unexpectedly crashed". I was simply uploading pics to Shutterfly and it crashed. I'm getting no support from the Adobe help line!

Organizer help please

Exporting my photo’s from iPhoto to the desk top and then importing to Photoshop Organizer 11, ALL photo’s show “Missing File” icon (?) in the top left corner when I eliminate photo’s from iPhoto. Why do I have to keep photo’s in iPhoto? Is there a workaround?
If I import iPhoto photo’s directly within Organizer I loose photo information, ie, Captions, Titles

Andaleeb, Thanks for your response. Based on your response I did the following:
Exported photo’s from iPhoto to the desktop with “Title and keywords” checked, and in the File Name “Use Title” selected.
After the export I deleted those photo’s in iPhoto.
Imported photo’s from desktop to the Organizer.
Selected, Reconnect all missing Files even at this time the missing file was not there. Got the message “No missing files to reconnect”
I then eliminated the photo’s from the desktop and got the missing file icon. I then selected, Reconnect all missing Files and the search began with no results.
In the information panel for those photo’s the location states:
Mac HD/Users/barrykniff/Desktop/
So as I see it, for Organizer I have to keep the photo’s on the desktop.

Help with Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer

I need some help with my new Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer.
I have not had previous versions of Photoshop, this was a brand new installation. I had previously used Kodak software which came with my camera to organize and edit pictures.
My PC is approximately 6 years old. I have a 2.2 ghz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
The software seemed to install just fine. I then imported some pictures from my Kodak folders into the Photoshop Organizer. After importing pictures I then received the following error message:
'Elements 9 Organizer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
If I remove the pictures from the catalog, I no longer get the error message. As soon as I import any pictures, however, I get the error and the software closes. When I reopen the organizer I get the same error after after about 15 seconds
I have tried the following:
uninstalled an re-installed twice
turned off the automatic backup to photoshop.com
I did come across thread 769749 (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/769749) that offered some advice. Based on that, I optimized my catalog (which was empty), repaired my catalog (which was empty). I also created a new catalog and removed the existing (empty) catalog.
All of these efforts have not worked. Each time I try something, as soon as I import any pictures into the catalog, I get 'Elements 9 Organizer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
This is brand new software that I am unable to use.
Adobe, please help.

Answers to following queries would help-
* Are you able to import images into Organizer from folder other than your Kodak folders?
* Is your problem happening for importing from a specific set of folders only?
* Is your problematic folder having any video files in it which you are importing into Organizer?

did you download the installation files?
if yes, what files (names/extensions) and what sizes?
if no, copy your cd contents to a desktop folder and attempt to install from the desktop folder.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.
