Elements 11 and raw files

Can Elements 11 accomodate raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5?

Yes.
Camera Raw 6.2 supports Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5

  • PS ELEMENTS and raw files

I have PS Elements 7. I cant open raw files from a memory card shot in a Canon 6D. I went to help in Elements, and under camera raw plug-in, it says my version is 4.5.0.175. Do I upgrade this, and how? Am I also going to need a DNG converter?

You need ACR 7.3 according to this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
So I don't think you are going to be able access the CR2 files directly from Elements.  (This is actually the Photoshop forum, and we don't know much at all about Elements.  You can find the right forum at Photoshop Elements)
So you are going to need to install the free DNG converter, but it is no real hassle.

  • JPG and RAW files are not grouped together.

I am finding that my RAW and JPG files are not grouped together.  They show up on the Grid View as JPG for the JPG file and RAW + JPG for the NEF(RAW) file.  This does not seem to be consistent through out the folder.  Some of the pictures are grouped together and others are not.  The ones that are not grouped together have been auto-stacked and then unstacked.  I am not sure if this is what caused the seperation of JPG and RAW files.  I did try to take a picture that I had auto-stacked it  and then remove it and it did not sepearate.  The "Treat JPG files next to raw files as seperate photos" option is turned off, like it is in my Lightroom 3.

This is what I'm talking about:
    Show subfolders are on:
    In windows Explorer:
    In the Import Dialog:
    Where are the files?
If I click on the Folder 2014_12_14... all the files from all folders will populate.

Does Photoshop Elements support raw files from the Panasonic GH3 camera?

Yes, if you have PSE 11 (not the mac app store version). You will need to go to Help>Updates in the editor to update ACR to 7.3.

I uploaded the images from the card to my Pro (Aperture 3) and while the import info said 1500 images were uploaded, I can't find the RAW images.  Aperture put about 700 images in an untitled project folder, but all the images are the JPEGs.  What am I missing?

Have you checked your "Import" settings for "Raw&Jpeg" pairs in the "Import" panel?
You can set Aperture to import raw, jpeg, or raw&jpeg.
If you imported Raw&Jpeg, but have set Aperture to use the Jpeg as original, you will see the imported image as Jpeg image, not as a raw image, even if the raw has also been imported. You can switch between Raw and Jpeg originals for selected images from the Photos menu:
Photos > Use Raw as original.

  • Photo Stream only supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF and RAW files.

I'm using Panasonic LX3 with its RAW format (a supported RAW format since sometimes with iPhoto '09 already)
When I choose to Photo Stream my images after import with iPhoto '11, it says "Photo Stream only supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF and RAW files."
My files are RAW formats so why can't I photo stream it?!
Is there something I can get around or need to wait for Apple to support this?!

You don;t have a preset set. What you are seeing is normal behavior when importing Raw files.
What you see at first is the camera produced JPG preview imbedded in the Raw file. Aperture puts this up while it decodes the actual Raw data. This JPG has all the special settings and enhancements set on the camera and is basically the image that would be produced if you were shooting JPG.
As a rule none of the settings on the camera (apart from the basics) are applied to the Raw file though some of the newer cameras have settings that could affect the data stored in the Raw file.
This is a often asked question by those just getting into Raw and you can search the discussions here for other answers to this question.
Given the capability of today's cameras, especially the high-end ones, a lot of users have decided to abandon Raw as unnecessary  if they are happy with the images the camera produces. It's all a matter of personal needs.

  • How to have my Jpg and RAW files in version sets (PSE10)

I take both jpg and RAW files on my camera so that most of the time I am pleased with the jpg and do little editing, but some of the time I need to really work on a photo which is where the RAW file comes in handy. In my photo well I have 2 of each picture displayed ie the jpg and RAW. How can I get it so only the jpg is displayed and the RAW either hidden or as a version set collapsed? Having 2 of each photo makes the photo well look untidy and full of duplicates.
    Help appreciated.

Highlight the two photos (using Ctrl+click), right-click on one of them and select "Stack...Stack Selected Photos".

  • When showing JPG and RAW files as one, which do we see and which is edited?

    Hi Guys,
Hoping someone out there will have the answer to this.
Just come back from a long trip with thousands of pics in RAW, I like to use Canon DPP to generate the JPGs quickly and to give me Canons interpretation on the RAW image. (Apparently same processing as in camera).
Once imported into Lightroom 3, I have set up to view the JPG and RAW files as one.
    There are two questions:
1.) Which of the two is the visible one in Library mode? can one set the preference?
    2.) Which is edited?
I do not really want to fully develop all the pics in Lightroom as some of the standard shots have come out perfectly and at the same time I feel I need to be able to compare them.
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

1.) Which of the two is the visible one in Library mode? can one set the preference?
Raw only. The jpeg is sort of like sidecar. Cannot set a preference. The only setting you can change is to view them separately.
    2.) Which is edited?
    Raw only.
... and at the same time I feel I need to be able to compare them.
Lightroom's Canon-specific DNG profiles are developed to match Canon's picture styles (or whatever they are called). So, if you use, say, the Faithful Picture style in Camera, Lightroom's "Camera Faithful" profile will render your raws very close to DPP, if not identical. That's for default settings. However when you start adjusting, Lightroom's and DPP's processing may differ.
You may not even need those Jpegs for comparison, after all.

  • Separating jpg and raw files after importing in lightroom 5

In Library Grid view, on the Tool Bar (T), change "Sort:" to "File Extension"

  • 10.4.11 autoupdate killed tiffs and raw files - REPAIRMENT HOW?

    Hi there!
I got big problems when I was updating from os 10.4.10 to 10.4.11 - everything crashed and I had to install everything new - I decided to take a new harddisk as well, but when I copied the rest of the stuff from the old one, I had to realise that several tiffs and raw files were damaged in a way that "preview" can handle them, but no other programm (no photoshop, or capture one). Is there any possibility to get those stuff back working well?
Thank you for all your help!!!
    Yours,
    Joerg

    Thanks for that,
I downloaded RPP and it does indeed open the RAW files and lets me convert them into TIFFs or JPGs which I can then import into Photoshop to play with.  However I'm still confused about why I can't open them in Photoshop directly.  My other camera is a SLR saving to a SanDisk Extreme lll Compact Flash card and I can open RAW files off that on the same computer with no problem using a Photoshop RAW converter plug-in.

  • Total novice - canon 450d - elements 6 and raw files.

    Please help a total novice.
I bought photoshop elements 6 a few months ago ( I have an oldish laptop and was worried it wouldn't cope with newer software)
I then bought a canon 450d and started to take raw photo - elements cant read my raw files.
I can see something about plug ins but it sounds like elements 6 isnt supported or is out of date.
please help ( turned 40 this year and ability to use tech is on the slide so please be gentle!)

I got a fantastic answer to this question about a week ago, got the plugin, installed and it worked fine.

  • Elements 11 and Raw file from Nikon D7100

I have newly installed Elements 11 and downloaded the updated raw plugin 7.4 but it still won't open raw files from NikonD7100.  Any other tricks?

Check that the 7.4 update installed correctly. You can do that from Expert Mode:
    Help >> About Plug-in >> Camera Raw
Note the version number. Press Esc to close the pop-up.
If that’s OK, you should note that NFE files can be compromised by using older versions of Nikon Transfer or Nikon software, that did not ship with the camera. If that’s the case, try shooting a few new NEFs and bring them straight into Elements without passing through any other programs.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 and RAW files (CR2)

Hello, Elements 10 is unable to recognise RAW files from my Powershot G15 but is fine with EOS 600D. Camera RAW has been updated but no difference.
    Any help/advice?
    Regards

    Hi Paul
Its not a good idea to use 16 bit images as there is limited functionality in Elements. The files are also very large. The Adobe raw format (DNG) will give you a more efficient file size as it does not contain a jpeg preview like a CR2.
Why not give it a try by downloading and installing the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format. The latest version 8.2 is fully backward compatible and the files will open in camera raw and in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Elements and raw c2 files

Is there any version of elements that will put c2 raw files in the organizer?

Sorry, but your question doesn't make much sense. What version of PSE do you currently have? Where are the files from? What system? What issue do you specifically have?
