Elements 12 and Sony FX1 camera

How do you transfer 1080 footage on the PC from a camera Sony FX 1. Do I need a special card, cables, etc. I have a HP computer with A8 processor. Is that ok for editing in Elements 12? I am new to editing so any help will do. Thanks.

From what I read about your camera, you have a camera that records to miniDV tape. And, it does have an iLink.
From that I am assuming that you will be doing a HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 Capture Window.

If problems develop with HDV capture firewire into Premiere Elements, some have done HDV capture firewire into HDVSplit and then imported the split clips (.m2t) into Premiere Elements with Premiere Elements Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets.

Clarification using Elements 7 and Sony DVD architect please ..

Hello all,
I am close to finishing my 2nd set of "How To" instructional DVD's.
I have been reviewing the required steps in order to create a menu with "Sony DVD Architect."
I see in a past discussion that it was mentioned to:
“ .. Export [your Elements project] as an MPEG2 file without DVD markers, then adding the DVD markers and menu in either NERO or Sony DVD Architect Studio .. Note if you export MPEG2 you need to use the smart-rendering in the applications to ensure your video isn't re-rendered ... resulting in a slight quality hit.”
Is this still a good way to do this? Would it be better/worse to export the Premiere Elements
project as an ".avi" file and pull that ".avi" file into Sony DVD Architect? Then, render with Sony DVD Architect?

Yes, I wasn't concered about markers, I figured that I'd create all of that in DVD Architect.
But, you've raised an issue that I had not thought about!
My DVD will be about 1 hour, 25 minutes.
Of course, I did expect a small loss in quality as some compression will be required in order for the material to fit on a standard DVD.
So, where sould the compression be done? I know that Elements will compress down to whatever length is necessary
(To render, a selection something to the order of: "fit contents to disk").
Even if I "pre-compress" in Elements to fit on a standard DVD will DVD Architect re-compress the program material?

Mini and Sony Alpha Camera

Has anyone ever used this combination and if so, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're looking for general information and background - and perhaps an indication of Mac compatibility, the review at http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dslr_a100-review/ may help, particularly in that it mentions that of the two applications supplied with the camera, the image viewer/downloader is PC only, but that iPhoto works for Mac users, and that the image converter for RAW files is both Mac and Windows.
Since the camera has USB, it would not be expected to present any practical usage problems for Macs, and of course a card reader could be used in any event. The lack of supplied Mac-compatible image downloading and viewing software is a bit disappointing I'd say, but since it works with iPhoto, it should also work with such alternatives as GraphicConverter.
If that doesn't help to address some of your concerns, it would perhaps be helpful to indicate what information you're seeking so the real photo experts can jump in and assist!

Camera Connection Kit Ipad 2 and Sony Video Camera

I have got the camera connection kit and I want to beable to put my sony video on my ipad but when i plug in the sd card to the ipad the video do not show up. I also have converted the video to the MPEG-4. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciation.

Is there a way to get my Elements 12 to work with Vista in camera Raw for my D610?

I’m thinking the updates don’t work on Vista and XP.

Premiere element 7 and canon 550 camera

I recently bought the canon 550 camera and tried to open the video footage on premiere element 7 but was unable to do so - an error message popped -up saying '...codec not installed.' I have downloaded the latest dng and it works for converting the raw images but not the video. The video footage is currently on my hard drive. Am I uploading the footage incorrectly or is element 7 not up to date with the canon 550 camera?

Video from still cameras like this usually needs to be converted --ideally to DV-AVIs -- before it can be used in Premiere Elements, as we discuss in the FAQs to the right of this forum.

If this video is an MPEG, you can convert it with MPEG Streamclip.
If it is an MOV, you can convert it with Super or Quicktime Pro.

Getting the data code infomation from my sony fx1 camera into final cut pro

any help/advice would be great.
i have shot some footage and am capturing it now,ideally i would like a time of day timecode
i dont think the f1 has a timecode on it ,but when i press the data code button it shows the time at recording ,which is perfect for what i need, but when i look at the clip in the browser there is nothing in the media start and end box's.
so my question is ,is there a way to have the data code information (ie time of day it is recorded) shown in fcp?

i know i have posted it......
but it has got me bothered as there must be a way to view the data code infomation in fcp and somehow see it in the media in and out like you do in time of day timecode i get from other cameras hoping some clever person will know what i can do or if its not possible at all even though the data code can be read by other mini dv cameras

IMovie and Sony camera can connect, but nothing imports

My iMovie and Sony HD camera can connect fine...I can control my camera from imovie, but when i click import, it plays (plays on camera and timer on imovie starts) but the screen remains blue and no video is actually imported.

Did you try Sue's excellent suggestion of the Garage band trick anyway?
Also, try deleting iMovie's preference file...the plist found in YourUserName->Library->preferences->com.apple.iMovieplist. Close iMovie, trash the plist. iMovie will create another one when you launch iMovie again.
Do you have the camcorder plugged directly into your computer's Firewire port? Some camcorders don't work properly if they are connected into another device. And, just to be sure, you do have the camcorder set to VTR, right?

Elements 11 and Bridge

I have been using Photoshop Elements 8 and Bridge CS4 happily with my Nikon d40x Camera. I imported the photos into a folder and opened them with Bridge in camera raw, rated them with stars, and used Photoshop Elements 8 for editing. My camera broke, and I purchased a new Nikon 5200. After checking to see what version of camera raw was required for that camera, and confirming its compatibilit, I saw that I couldln't get camera raw 7.4 (I think) for Photoshop Elements 8. So I purchased photoshop elements 11) and installed the latest version of camera raw. Now when I open the photos in Bridge CS4, I don't see the images. I just see icons with the NEF extension. I would be happy to update the Bridge CS4, but that doesn't seem to be an option without purchasing Photoshop, which for me (an old lady with a fixed income) is prohibitively expensive. How can I see my images in Bridge CS4, rate them, and edit them using the new Photoshop Elements 11 and my new camera?

Photoshop Elements 7 acr 5.4 camera raw plugin won't work

Hello everyone,
I am very frustrated hopefully someone can help me out. I have PS Elements 7 and installed the camera raw plugin 5.4 per adobe instructions which I followed to the letter. I still can't open raw files and do not want to use other third party software and use DNG converter which is a hassle.
Here is the error I get: Can't open NEF because it's the wrong type of file.

I'm afraid that there is no camera plugin that you can install for pse 7 that will read the nikon D5100 files, since pse 7 can only use up to
camera raw 5.6 and your camera requires at least camera raw 6.4, which is not compatible with pse 7.

So, the dng converter is your best free alternative.
You can always upgrade to photoshop elements 12, which will open those files without having to use the dng converter.

Premiere elements 10 and organizer

I have the premiere elements 9 and photoshop9 which came as a bundle with organizer. If I buy premiere elements 10 will organizer 9 work with it?

Not really. But Premiere Elements 10 comes with Elements Organizer 10, which should update your Organizer 9 catalog.

I have Elements 11 (and Lightroom). I just bot a SONY RX100-II camera.

I tried to load the photos shot in RAW, but nada. I need to know how to get the program I need so that I can use Elements 11 and Lightroom with this camera, shooitng in RAW. Am leaving for Cuba in 5 days.

If you update to the latest lightroom 5.2, that should open the Sony RX100-II files.
Unfortunatly pse11 can only use up to camera raw 7.4 and your files require camera raw 8.2
Photoshop elements 12 is able to update to camera raw 8.2 though.

My Sony DV Camera is not Being Recognized in Premiere Elements 13

I am using a PC (w/ Windows8.1 Pro - 64 bit with Media Center). I installed a copy of Premiere Elements 13 and left a copy of Premiere Elements 10 on the machine.
My camera Sony DV (DCR-PC100) video camera is connected to the computer via IEEE-1394 (fire wire) cable. The connection is secure and I have confirmed the connection With the camera on the VTR setting, the software does not recognize the camera. In other words, I was not able see to the camera within the program under Project Settings -> Capture. I only see the WDM Capture option. (The project is setup with the correct DV camera option; Standard DV NTSC).
However, when I tried it out on Premiere Elements (PE) 10, I am able to see the DV camera under the Project Settings -> Capture. In fact, I am able to capture video clips as well as control the camera under PE 10.
Please provide guidance on steps on recognizing my camera in PE13.

Premiere Elements does not support DV and HDV data capture firewire into a Premiere Elements Capture Window anymore. The last version to have that feature is version 12/12.1.
Please refer to Adobe document for suggested workarounds for this situation.
