Elements 12 folders

Can I create a master folder in elements organizer and move other folders into the master folder?  For example, a master folder named "trees" and move existing folders named "Apple" "Pear" "Pine" that have information and pictures of that particular tree.
Thanks, Wayne

Go to My pictures and right-click in any blank space and choose to create a new folder. Name it Trees.
Add any jpeg – you need at least one image for the file to show up in Elements Organizer.
Launch Organizer and use the menu: File >> Get Photos & Videos >> from Files & Folders
Navigate to your trees folder and select the image to import.
Inside Organizer drag you other folders (Apple, Pear, Pine) into Trees.
N.B this assumes Apple, Pear and Pine are already imported to Organizer. If not you can do it differently.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Folders

I recently purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and I notice that 2 folders were created in My Documents, as follows:
    Folder No. 1 - Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.87GB, 163 files, 52 Folders
    Folder No. 2 - Photoshop Elements 11 - 1.16GB, 151 files, 50 Folders
Is this setup correct and / or necessary? I notice that many of the files in each of the folders are similarly named and therefore wondering if something went wrong during the download / setup and that the process was duplicated?
What is the process in the event that the software needs to be downloaded again, say after doing a Windows re-installation? Can I copy the software to CD or DVD for future installation?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

One is the base installer, the otehr the content like image frames, photobook templates etc.. Backups are always  advisable. USB sticks are cheap and yopu could ebven bury one under your house for posterity...

  • Photoshop Elements 7 Folders

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7
Can someone please explain to me why I have
So many folders on the left hand side in the Organise View?
Just about all the folders on my computer are there?
All I want is just My Pictures Folder there
Can I delete all the other folders?
    Or, make a new catalog?
I really do not know why I have so many folders there
Or, is it suppose to be like that??
    I am lost here??
    Phillip

Actually Folder view in PSE is mapped to the folders structure on your machine. PSE displays all the folder hierarchy on your machine in Folder location view. One advantage is that you can move your files across different folders in this view.
If you would delete the folders from the folder location view, these would also get deleted from your machine.

  • Elements 12 Folders and Albums

I have successfully imported all my photos and moved them into albums.  I am left with a bunch of folders.  Is there any way to delete these folders without deleting the photos, or as an alternative to combining all the folders into one?

    Beware!
You don't MOVE photos into albums. You just create a list (a kind of playlist) of the files you have chosen. The files stay in the folders they are in.
The folder organization is different from the logical organization of the catalog. You can put photos from different folders in the same album of a catalog, you can have the same image in different albums. If you delete a file from an album, it won't be deleted on your disk. If you delete a photo file in a folder, you'll get a 'disconnected' warning in the catalog and the album.

  • Premiere Elements 7 Crashing on Share DVD every time on Vista 32

I am running Premiere Elements 7 on Vista Home Premium 32 bit. The machinse is up to specs, quad core, 3GB RAM, Ge Force 9500GT etc. I'm in the US using NTSC. Drive C; has 127GB free and E:, also internal, has 73GB free. Both get defragged and they get cleaned with CCleaner etc.
I had not used PE7 in a while and I shot video of a birthday party at a go kart track on Canon HV-20. I imported the video, edited it, added quicktracks music and exported the result as DVD going to folder 4.7GB as per Appendix of Muvipix Guide. [note no crash when I did this] I then burned that TS_Video folder to a DVD but it didn't play on DVD player. So I came back to PE7 to try writing an actual DVD directly.
Whenever I click Share > DVD now I get an immediate crash of the program. Windows provides this info in that error box:

I had to go Task Managaer > Processes and end the APE7 process before I could launch the program again....but the I tried another project entirely, an older one that was shot on a Sony DV Cam and it caused the same crash.
I cleaned the temp files and registry, restarted....same thing. So I went to this document:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404998.html#Before
...and started working through troubleshooting steps. I did this so far:
    1. Make sure that the system meets the minimum requirements for Adobe Premiere Elements 7
    check
    2. Install the latest version of Premiere Elements.
    checked, no updates available
    3. Install current Windows service packs and other updates.
check, every single one is installed on this system. I run CS4 with PSCS4 Extended and Lightroom 2.5 all the time here.
    4. Re-create the Premiere Elements PluginCache.
This I could not do. Holding Shift on starting APE7 had no effect. It just brings me to the Phosotshop Online signing screen on the elft with Open or Instant Movie on right etc.
    5. Re-create the Premiere Elements preferences folders.
Could not find them at that location. Will come back to that as I have done complete reinstall of APE7 and deleted evrything I could find at that time.
    6. Disconnect IEEE 1394 devices.
check, not a startup problem anyway
    7. Troubleshoot third-party plug-ins.
    Have not installed any
    8. Run Premiere Elements in a new user account.
    check, crashes same way
    9. Run Premiere Elements while no other applications run in the background.
check, very limited set of apps running
    10. Update the video card driver.
check, latest Nvidia GeFroce9500GT driver installed, also tried previous version, no effect
    11. Verify that other device drivers are compatible with Windows.
check, devices were made for an work fine in Vista32
    12. Troubleshoot QuickTime.
check (**PARTLY!**)...I have the latest QT Pro 7.6.4 and latest iTunes installed and working fine.
HOWEVER,  I do have an issue in PSCS4 where I am not able to open QT Movies in Photoshop. The only response from Adobe's support ticket has been I should upgarde to QuickTime 7.1 or later...Duh, I have 7.6.4 and had said that in ticket. May be this is related?? May be it's a CODEC issue? I do have alot of CODECs on the machine that were set up by Zoomplayer's install center ioncluding latest DiVX etc.....but that should be OK I would think???
    13. Check for codec problems.
See #12 above...do I disable every CODEC?? Not sure where to with that....?????
I did read this..."..If you are not certain which codecs should remain on your system, contact Adobe Technical Support for additional help.
To temporarily disable a video or audio codec, see "Temporarily disable a codec (Windows Vista)" (TechNote kb404892) for details....."
    14. Identify the file that causes the problem.
Check, any do. Have a number of Elements projects, each of them causes the problem. Even creating a new project with two scenes in timeline and choosing Share > DVD will crash it now.
    15. Remove and Reinstall Premiere Elements.
Check- ran uninstall, dleted all APE7 and APE4 folders I could find and ran CCleaner on temp files and regsitry.
RE-downloaded APE7 from Adobe Store and after a reboot installed it. Rebooted. Boom same crash.
    16. Check for font problems.
Uh, I have only added three fonts to what's in the system...any others were installed by Adobe CS4 Design Premium...didn't spend any time on this.
    17. Set the virtual memory paging file to the default size.
    Have not tried this.
    18. Optimize handling of temporary files by Windows
    check
    19. Repair and defragment hard disks.
check, do that regularly. Most of my content lives on a 4TB Drobo anyway, but all the APE7 edits have been with fast internal drive that is not fragmented and has lots of room. All scratch disks are set to E: internal SATA 7200 drive...Vista is on C:
    20. Scan the system for viruses.
Absolutely clean. Running Norton360 and have run exhaustive checks and scans with help from the Tweaks guys including ESET online scanner- Absolutely clean of malware, spyware, trojans, viruses, rootkits or even tracking cookies!
    21. Visit the Adobe User to User Forums.
    Tada! Here I am.
    22. Reinstall your capture card software.
No cpature problems....it's built in FW13945 on my HP Media Center m8120N and has always worked fine.
    23. Contact Adobe Technical Support.
    Awww man.....really?
Other stuff I have done and summary:
    ## I've read Steve say these kinds of problems are often Audio Driver problems. I have now installed latest Audio drivers from Realtek HD and Haupagge...latest are there and they work fine. Still crash.
    ## I've flashed both of my DVD writers drives, which are SATA, to latest Firmware and verified them.
Final note, I CAN share a file and choose to upload it to YouTube which is what I did with the Birthday video.
I have tried rendering the whole timeline before clicki9ng on Share > DVD still  immediate crash. I *WAS* able to go there when I first edited this rememebr and I saved the DVD to a 4.7GB folder.
    Thanks for any help!

After installing recent nvidia drivers you should then uninstall the nvidia stereoscopic 3D driver from Control Panel> Uninstall a Program. This has a known conflict with APE.

  • Elements 5 on Vista will not open. Missing files

I have installed Photoshop elements 5.0 and the updater 5.02. Elements will not open and indicates several missing files. This is a brand new Windows vista HP machine. the missing files are "FAST CORE ROUTINES MODULE" , 'MMX CORE ROUTINES MODULE" , and "MULTIPROCESSOR SUPPORT" .  Any suggestions?  I uninstalled once and followed the Updater 5.02 instructions to be certain that I installed in a folder "Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0'

Thank you Paige, You put me on the right track. I also found another much older message at this link...
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1487633#1487633
I not only uninstalled, but followed the instructions for "deep cleaning" all remanents of Elements,  from folders, and even the registry. I had to change viewing files to viewing hidden files and all extensions, and deleted the Adobe Application Folder in Users\name   folder and  THAT along with your hint to install as Administrator did the trick.  The application folder deletion seemed to finalize the installation... I have not tested all components yet, but now at least I can begin testing!!!  Thank you for your response.

  • Adobe Elements 11 and 12

On my PC running windows 7, Elements12 brings my photos over from Elements11 but does not bring my apps from Topaz Labs to my Edit Menu under Filters [or any other Menu for that matter] How can I bring them into my new version ??

you need to reinstall them Topaz then should ask where to put them,  I guess copying over the files would work too, into the elements 12 folders but reinstalling will do all that for you.

  • Can't get Photoshop Elements 8 to Uninstall

I recently bought Photoshop 10 and installed it - and thought like most programs, it would uninstall the old version.  It did not.
So I went to control panel and uninstalled Photoshop Elements 8.  It went through the wizard but it is still there when I bring up the control panel.   When I click on it to uninstall again I get the message This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.
Additionally, all the Elements 8 folders are still present in Windows Explorer.
I did this a week ago and have restarted but no luck.  How do I get 8 off?

I would personally leave it installed but you can do it manually if you wish.

I have Elements v7 running on Vista...PSE has never given me a problem. However, recently, when I open the program it gives me a message and says it needs to shut down. I read online and tried to reset my preferences but that did not work.

    2) Photoshop Elements
These folders are present at :- C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

  • Associate collection to a folder option

It would be a tremendous help to me to have this as an option. That when you create a collection that you could associate it to a certain folder only. So the collection would only show in collections when you are looking at that particular folder. I like to keep my seniors still separated in folders by name and I sometimes need to organize some of the pics into groups like for example the 8 that go in a folio or the 10 I'm using for some digital creation and I could do this real easily if I could put them in a collection but I wouldn't want the collection to be visible all the time only when I'm looking at that senior's files.
    Thanks
    Mooney101

Collections that are sub-elements of folders could possibly make collections useful to me, especially with the new ability to see or not see subitems.
Right now I don't use collections for two reasons, the lack of association with a folder being one, the other being lack of storage in the XMP data.
    Use case:
    Wedding folder
    - Rehearsal
    - Rehearsal dinner
    - Getting ready
    - Ceremony
    - Reception
    - Portraits
Now, I need to make a web album from the best images from each folder. Hmmm...it sure would be nice to have a collection as a sub-item of "Wedding folder" that could draw on images from each of the subfolders.
Yes, I can use color-labels to do that, but they don't show up with a name in the collections pane like "web album" would, and therefore you have to know it's there to access the proper label set to go get them.

  • Moving folder in Organizer corrupts contents

I just got Photoshop Elements for my wife, and she spent quite a bit of time renaming & tagging hundreds of our photos.
We just discovered that several folders of the images she'd been working on were corrupted... none of the jpegs were able to be opened in any software package I tried.
Luckily, all these files are on a zfs fileshare on my storage server, and I had a somewhat recent snapshot we were able to clone & use to restore the bad files.
And then it happened again, while I was watching her work -- she got done re-tagging a bunch of pictures in a subfolder, then in the Elements organizer application moved the subfolder into another one for "To Be Printed" -- and poof, all corrupt again.
Like I said above, the files are on a mapped network drive, shared from an OpenSolaris box via CIFS to my wifes laptop running Vista. It wasn't an issue of the file extension... the actual JPEG headers were corrupt. I haven't gone into the file with a hex editor to find out [but if it would help Adobe fix it I can repeat the process & send them some of the bad files for analysis].  And I'm very certain it wasn't a bad disk... zfs is one of the safest most uncorruptible filesystems available, and the data is stored on the equivalent of a RAID configuration. But even it can't fix data if the data it's told to write has logical errors introduced at a higher layer.
More than likely it's a peculiar (just speculating here) combination of the way Adobe Elements moves folders and the way Vista maps CIFS drives. I'm still Googling/Binging the problem, but haven't turned up anything yet. If I wasn't able to reliably reproduce it, I'd just call it a random quirk and have forgotten about it by now... but this is a bit odd. And it may impact the way I manage storage, as now I'll have look at how I persist my snapshots due to the uncertainty of when the corruption would be introduced.
Has anyone run into this before? Any thoughts/solutions? I have to say I'm very disappointed -- I had done quite the marketing job to sell her on using this software versus manually working on everything... only to find out we run the risk of losing irreplaceable photos every time she works in it.

    Hi,
If your catalog is corrupted you can repair it through File>Catalog , select the corrupted catalog and choose Repair. Hope that will help to great extent.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Also in order to avoid running into the risk of losing your work permanently you can choose to maintain an online account on www.Photoshop.com and use the back-up Sync feature of Elements Organizer to maintain a backup of your files, albums and tags to be able to recover them from you online account if you were to lose these permanently from your Desktop. You can sign in to the account from the Organizer and enable Backup/Sync through Edit>Preferences>Backup Sync Preferences.
    Thanks.

  • Rules of relink

    Hi all...
In oreder to make relinking as painless as possible...
    I was wondering...
does Premiere Pro auto look in Sub folders of a directory....
    So If I have a
Projects Folder (and Auto save Preview and caches so I can set those to same as project)
and then within that a Media Folder for captured media and
and subdivide element types folders (supplemental, audio, etc)
If I have to link to the first piece of captured media....will premiere look into all the sub folders automatically?
    Thanks,
    Alex

I usually just open the .prproj in wordpad or another text editor and search/replace the paths manually. It is really much faster, provided you know where everything was and where it now is.

  • Snow Leopard is not great

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac and my MacBook, I have applications freezing (or crashing) all the time. This has happened with Apple applications (Safari, Pages, etc.) as well as 3rd party software (Canon Scanner, Microsoft Office, etc.).
If you plan on getting Snow Leopard, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON'T until they fix the problem(s).

That's not the bit i'm talking about. Sure the installer works fine and does its job in usually much less than the 45 minutes it first says it's going to take.
The problems come with reinstalling all the software which gets messed up in the process because of the way large software packages install various elements and folders and hidden files all over, reregistering a lot of software, making various tweaks to app settings and system prefs., finding replacements for all the now incompatible software, etc.
Of course all of this is lessened with an OS reinstall +(especially with archive, but that often defeats the purpose of correcting some peculiar problem)+ rather than an upgrade, but i've never even done a reinstall where i wasn't finding items i'd overlooked, and apps that needed reinstalling for weeks afterward.
The Leopard snags i was talking about include various changes in OS structure or peculiar behaviors which showed up as part of Leopard itself, and which have never been improved or corrected by Apple.
For example, in Tiger, and prior, when composing a new email, it was possible to use the toolbar buttons to change font size. In Leopard, from the time i installed 10.5.0, until the installation of 10.6.0, those buttons only worked in replies or forwards, and were always greyed out when composing new emails.
Similarly, "smart" mailboxes have never worked properly for me with my large volumes of mail. Even after initial known problems with bad logic were corrected +(which it seemed should have been found in beta testing)+, i always got essentially random numbers and lists of unread messages which didn't match the criteria. Only after clicking on the different "smart" mailboxes several times and waiting, would i finally get a correct list.
In Snow Leopard, speed and efficiency +(i'm guessing)+ of searching by smart mailboxes has made a big improvement.
But now i've had my workflow destroyed by the removal of Contextual Menu Modules i rely on dozens of times daily. (e.g. FolderGlance)
*Apologies if that sounds whiny.* Actually most of what i've seen so far in Snow Leopard is impressive, especially the speed!
