  • Down loaded Mavericks, will not install on my computer because it says "this hard drive is used for time machine back up".

Down loaded mavericks, it will not install on my computer because it says" this hard drive is used for time machine back up". So I used my old computer  hard drive for back up and reloaded the program but it still says the first hard drive is being used.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Make sure you have selected your MacBook Pro's hard drive as the destination to install Mavericks. If so, you have the "Backups.backupdb" folder in the root level of your hard drive.
That's the folder used by Time Machine to store backups of your files, and the Mavericks installer understands that your internal hard disk is the Time Machine drive.
To fix this, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type:
Then, delete "Backups.backupdb", empty the Trash and run the Mavericks installer. Finally, install OS X Mavericks

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

I have a Windows 7 OS 64 bit, ZT desktopcomputer with 16meg memory. I have not been able to install any updates
to itunes to my computer.  It downloads, but then when installing, it looks like it is going to complete the install
and then it rolls back and says the errors occured and to try again.  I have a win7 64bit HP Laptop that installed
the itune updates with no problem.  I have to sync my iphone to my Laptop as it will not work with my desktop.
    Please advise.
         Thanks,

Do you have any other drive connected, which has a copy of FCP X?
I would make a copy of the application in some drive, just in case; then disconnect the drive, delete the application (could use FCS Remover to delete everything related).
Then, try installing from the purchases tab in the App Store.

  • "imovie '09 will not install on your computer"

I've got a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 but imovie won't load because it requires a Mac computer with a graphics card that is compatible with Core Image. These include all systems with an Intel processor, or Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster) or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster). Am I missing something?

I'm having the same issue as musicmacs. I basicallyhave the same setup, Powerbook G4, but with a 867MHz PowerPC G4 Processor, not an Intel. I recently updated my system to 10.5.6 and iLife 09...foolishly. I really need iMovie or a similar application to import footage from mini-DV. QuiCKtime has poor quality, and I dabbled with iDVD and didn't find anything there. I tried installing previous iMovie versions, but to no avail, I couldn't cheat the system.
I'd be willing to install a new processor if that were my only option, but I researched that also and read that it's not possible on a laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions for similar iMovie applications (or video import applications in general). I'm trying to figure out what my options are other than buying a brand new computer (which I would have debated before making the mistake of buying all the software included on new Mac's). Thanks.

  • ITunes will not install because my Computer is missing a file QuickTime.msi

Hello, I have uninstalled all my apple files except those for QuickTime because it needs QuickTime.msi. Installing iTunes fails for the same reason. I have searched all of my C Drive and it does not exist. My laptop was originally running Vista and perhaps upgrading to Windows 7 is somehow involved? Can anybody put me on the right track?

This problem can often be fixed with the Microsoft Insaller cleanup utility.
Unfortunately The Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been with drawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydidgitallife has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
You may need to use "Run as Adminsitrator" if you get an error trying to run it.
I would try to uninstall all iTunes related programs using this method:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This will allow you to find which ones will not uninstall. Then use the Cleanup utilty to remove those programs
    Then try installing iTunes again.

  • Power Shot SX260HS Digital Camera Solution Disk will not install on my computer.

Following the on screen instructions, after verifying the device, the software begins to install then a pop up screen comes on that says "a program needs my permission to continue" and after I click "continue" the software stops installing and a pop up screen comes up that says "unkown install errror"  and it will not continue to install.  It seems that the first pop up interferes with the installation but I do not know how to override that.  Please help.  Thank you

    Hi espring453,
The window that pops up asking for permission is called the User Account Control.  If it is interfering with the installation, it will need to be fixed or disabled.  Microsoft can help you with this, but you will need to contact them directly.  They also have an article on their website about turning this feature on and off.  Please refer to the link below:

  • Premiere Elements will not install!

Uninstall, reinstall the result is always the same; I end up with error: 1.  Very frustrating.  Does anybody know how I can fix this?  Thank you.

    octopodian
    Thanks for the reply.
The QuickTIme issue may be our clue here; so let us explore that.
Both Premiere Elements (any version) and QuickTime (from what I have read) need to be run from a computer User Account with Administrative Privileges.
So, I am speculating that if you install and run Premiere Elements and QuickTime from a User Account with Administrative Privilege, both programs will work.
    Please see
Control Panel/User Accounts and Family Safety/User Accounts. Do you find the User Account that you are currently using, and does it have the word Administrator underneath your ID there?
If you can get a the desktop icon for QuickTime, right click the QuickTime icon and select Run As Administrator.
Let us get this factor ruled in or out.
We will be watching for further developments.
    Thanks.
    ATR
Add On...what version of Premiere Elements are you using? I see the computer operating system mentioned by not the Premiere Elements version involved.

  • TS4071 itunes will not install on my computer,  error says msvcr80.dll is missing.  i cannot get to the app store

trying to get to itunes via my pc as i have before in order to download an app...
i recently bought my wive a newly refurbished HP minidesktop and took her old computer...
I installed my 2 1TB drives and was off and running.
I renamed her computer. and retained my own owner name and was the adminstrator....
Yet apple does not identify this as the computer which my iphone4 was originally identified with  (this may or may not be part of the problem)...
However, after downloading and running the itunes setup,
it runs for about two minutes
then tells me the external apple device is foreign to it
(i had my iphone4 plugged into a usb port,
and tells me to correct the situation. the retry loops back to that point again,
ignore does the same thing as cancel...leaves an itunes icon on the desktop.
double clicking on this tells me msvcr80.dll is missing.
    Help.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Mozilla/Firefox 4 will not install on my computer and I cannot uninstall any old Mozilla/Firefox programs and files still on my computer.

Firefox won't load onto my computer. I have Windows 7, and each time I try to run the program to install it, it tells me I have another version still waiting to be installed that requires my computer to reboot. When I check "yes" to reboot, my computer reboots but still no Firefox. When I try to uninstall the the old Mozilla program from my Control Panels, there is no Mozilla files or programs listed not in my list of programs but when I go directly to the Windows File on the C: Drive, there's a Mozilla program file there. WHen I go into that file check, I attempt to open the uninstall program. I get an error message that says something to the effect of: "the version Mozilla on this computer is not compatable with my OS." Something about it being and 86bit program. My Firefox 3.6 worked fine 2 days ago. What's wrong???

Ok, lets do a couple of steps here first:
To make sure your windows isn't corrupted because of the power outage, let's run chkdsk.
Click on My Computer, then right click your C: Drive (if you have other hard drives, you will want to run this on them as well). Then, click Properties. Inside that window, go to the Tools tab. Inside that tab, open up the "Check Now" button. That will open a smaller window. Select the checkbox to "Automatically fix file system errors", then hit Start. You will probably receive an error asking if you want to schedule the disk check, click Yes, then restart your computer.
Read [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265] for more information.
After running the chkdsk, then please go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], and download a fresh version of Firefox. I'm assuming you are using Internet Explorer to download Firefox. Instead of hitting Run, let's try hitting save. Remember where it saves the installer file on your computer.
After the download has finished, double-click and run the Firefox install. Once it is finished, try to start Firefox up. Let me know how it goes!
