Elements 12 wont accept .mov video files

I'm trying to import .mov files into Premiere Elements 12 but it will only bring them in as audio files, not video?  The source file is playing fine in Quicktime, but elements won't accept it.  I'm working on PC and urgently need to edit this piece...  An

What is the Brand/Model/Settings for the camera that recorded this video? Any chance, MotionJPEG video compression?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? Are you running your program from a User Account with
Administrative Privileges and also have applied Run As Administrator?
Since this is a rush on your side, let us go with just the above for the moment. If that is not the answer, then I will put you through the
drill of must have information
a. project preset
b. properties of your source media
c. computer operating system
d. video card/graphics card drive update
e. etc.
Thanks.

  • IPod can't load .mov video files

Just bought a 30G iPod video and it only accepts .mp4 video files. I have several videos in .mov format that I have created using iMovie. They are accepted by iTunes but don't appear in my iPod after an update. Supposedly the new iPod is compatible with .mov formats (?) As I said, I used iMovie to create my videos ("shared" them for Web posting) and have not used any 3rd party software. Can somebody please give me a hint on how to proceed? I tried converting the .mov files to .mp4, but the video quality suffers significantly.
    Thanks in advance!

Do a search of Apple KB Docu in the Support area for iPod 5G/video and also here at the posts, there are tons of answers to your query.
No the iPod video will not play .mov files, iTunes will play any format of QT movie as long as you have the necessary codecs stored in your mac. iPod will play 2 formats, the MP4 format and the H.264 format. See this link
If you have QT Pro, you can use it to re-export your current movies to iPod-compatible/playable videos, inside QT Pro there is already additional pre-sets for you to choose.

  • ITunes 11 won't import .mov video files from external hard drive but will from internal.

    Hi Everyone
I'm having a problem with iTunes 11.0.1. I can't import .mov video files stored on an external hard drive. I can however import .m4v files from the same external drive. Using either the add to library option or dragging files from the finder.
I can add .mov files from the internal though. Strange I know.
The reason behind this posting is that I'm using iFlicks to convert my TV and movies from my external drive for Apple TV and add all relevent meta data, keeping the files on the external drive and having iTunes link to them.
I would like to be able to simply create a general iTune compatiable file using iFlicks which only takes a minute or two per file to convert. I'm currently converting them to .m4v just for the sack of being able to import them into iTunes from an external drive takes 45 minutes per file.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any ideas on a fix to allow me to import .mov files from an external drive into iTunes without copying it to the iTune library file.
    Many Thanks
    Dave

This might be worth a shot - basically seeing if Vista permissions could be the culprit.
Give yourself FULL control and ownership of the exHD, let's call it M:
How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista
Take control of the top level folder and ALL subfolders.
Try creating a new blank ITL file on M: by pressing *and holding* the shift key while itunes starts. See if you can add everything again.

  • Converting .MOV video file into FLV format?

Hello, I finished editting a corporate video for client and they want to know if I can also send them an FLV format video.
Does anyone know how I can do this.  I edited video in Final Cut Pro and used Compressor to export my final .mov video file.
How do I make this a FLV file?
    Thanks~

The best method would be to use a Flash encoder to transcode the video.  Do you have a Flash encoding application?
Another method would be to export an H.264 file of the video.  When it's finished, change the file extension to .flv.  It should play in later versions of Flash player, but won't play in older versions.

  • How can I Import *.Mov video files into LightRoom 5.3 ?

I am having trouble trying to Import *.Mov video files into LightRoom 5.3.    It imports preview thumbnails but when I select  'Import ' it now stops and displays an error message.

Why do you ask about Lightroom issues on a Photoshop Forum?

  • Lightroom 4--4.1---4.2 will not accept .mpg video files

Lightroom 4, 4.1 and 4.2 will not accept .mpg video files.  I have to Convert these files from .mpg to mp4 in order for any of the lightrooms 4--4.2 to accept the videos. Yet in the http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/video-support-lightroom-4-3.html it states : Extensions supported---MPG, so why do I have to convert all my video files to mp4??????

A particular file extension doesn’t dictate the actual video and audio codecs in a particular video file.   I expect what is happening is that LR doesn’t understand one or both of the codecs and it needs the file converted one a set it does understand.
Did the videos work in LR3 but not LR4?
Can you play the original MPGs in QuickTime?

  • Can I move video files from Final Cut Pro to iMovie?

I've used iMovie forever, and I just bought Final Cut Pro.  I uploaded video for a new movie into FCP, but I have an urgent need to get this movie done and don't have time to learn Final Cut Pro to do it.  Can I move my video files from FCP over to iMovie 10.0.6?  Or do I need to reload the raw video to iMovie?

No you will have to import your clips again into iMovie 10.  Projects can only be transferred from iMovie 10 to FCPX and not the other way.

  • 30GB wont accept songs/videos, unknown error (-69)

ok so i recently have had this problem w/ my iPod; It will load some songs but then it'll make a weird noise, and then i get the unknown error (-69). I was reading some forums and people said it may be the song(s). I uploaded the same exact songs to my mom's nano w/o any problems. My iPod wont accept any movies; it shows it transferring, gets maybe about 1/2way through, then same error code pops up. I am totally lost what to do so any help will be appreciated.

I am also having the same problem. When i try to sync it will sing for so long then give me that message. I tried using that atricle and it didn't help at all. I tried doing what they said in the article but it was bs because I restored the ipod a couple times in the process of trying to get it to work and sometimes it would sync a song sometimes it would stop at it or before it, so it doesn't make sense. Also, all the songs in my library were on my ipod before, so thats probably a pretty good sign none of them are corrupt. This is driving me crazy! Someone please help.

  • How do you move video files from external hard drive?

I moved video files that were originally from Flip Video recorder and uploaded to my Macbook to an external hard drive to save space.  However, I can't seem to figure out how to get them back onto my computer, so I can start burning DVDs.  I tried dragging and dropping, but that doesn't seem to work.  Please help!!

Copy /Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library to your external drive. Delete the one on your internal drive. Now create an alias to the iPhoto Library's new location and put the alias in the original location. Be sure the alias is named "iPhoto Library".

  • IMovie wont accept .mov files. Help please.

I have imported a bunch of movie files from my digital camera. They are now in IPhoto and everything is fine. I would like to import them into IMovie to do some editing but for some reason it will not accept the file. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? All of the files i am trying to move into IMovie are .mov files. Shouldnt they work? Please help.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? All of the files i am trying to move into IMovie are .mov files. Shouldnt they work?
Not necessarily. MOV is a generic file container -- not a compression format. It can hold any audio and video compression format combination compatible with the QT structure and currently installed QT components. (Even WMV content can be placed in an MOV container.) Unfortunately, iMovie '08 will only import files containing compression formats that it can edit "natively." Kodak digital cameras, for instance, tend to favor MPEG4/µ-Law compression. And, while the MPEG-4 video is compatible with iMovie '08, the µ-Law 2:1 audio compression is not. To import an MOV file, both audio and video compression must be compatible. In the case of the MPEG4/µ-Law file, only the audio format has to be converted to make the file compatible. One way to do this is to use GarageBand to access the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option and "Pass through" the video which converting the audio to AAC -- mono 64 kbps at 44.1 kHz will work here -- and place both in an MP4 container. Another method is to simply convert both audio and video to compatible formats using a converter of your choice.

  • Premiere Elements 11 - No audio on playback using MP4 or MOV video files

    Hello,
I've recently started using Premiere Elements for a project I'm working on and I'm learning as I go.
When I'm adding a video that plays audio in another program to Premiere, the audio won't play.
I've checked the audio and audio hardware settings and they both seem fine.  The mixer is not muted and when I publish the file, there is still no audio.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dale

I am assuming that you are working with Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. On what computer operating system are they running?
Can you open your .avi file in the Elements Organizer 12 and playback the file there and hear audio in the playback?
We have just helped a Premiere Elements user resolve a no sound with .avi file in another thread. Her answer was to update Premiere Elements 12 to 12.1 (See opened project Help Menu/Update.) Why is there no sound on avi files?
The details are in the link cited in my conversions with the user Vickie.
The full video and audio properties of the problem files are needed to evaluate situation such as you describe. In the case of the other user, she was not able to give us anything beyond .avi file. But, fortuately that 12.0 to 12.1 suggestion came to the rescue nonetheless. Bottom line is that, if the 12.0 to 12.1 Update does not resolve your issue, then we will need to go "by the book" and gather file properties, project settings, and the like to try to target the cause of your audio issue. Have you added to this project any narration clips from the program's Narration Tool?
If you create a new project, can you hear the audio from this .avi file in it? Is the problem confined to one .avi file or to any of these .avi files that you import into new or pre-existing projects. Can you hear the audio from non .avi files?
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • How do I edit Quicktime .mov video file in CS5 Extended ?

    Hi !
I'm a photographer using Photoshop CS 5 Extended and editing video using Apple Final Cut Pro 7 NLE editing studio.
I'd like to edit video footage in CS5 Extended. I have a Quicktime video .mov file that was shot with a Canon 5D2 and Canon 15mm fisheye lens and i would like to defish the footage to rectilinear using Photoshops Lens Correction Filter.
I have tried opening the movie file in CS5 Extended and it appears as a video layer in my layers window. I can defish the first frame (according to Animation palette), but the lens correction needs to be over the whole footage not just the first frame.
How do i do this and then output retouched / defished .mov file ?
I assume you can use a similar process to clone out dust spots in footage too ?
Any help and advice would be much appreciated ... thanks ...

Wow ! That was a speedy reponse ... thankyou !
I didn't realise i needed to convert into a smart object ... I tried that and it works !
    Woohoo !!
Only problem is ... the 10 second QT .Mov file has changed from 65Mb file size to 2.2Gb. It looks similar quality and the Quicktime settings were just default (High).
Any idea why file is sooooo big ?! Or how I can reduce it without losing too much quality ? Can't quite understand why the file size has ballooned and would be a problem editing it in Final Cut Pro 7.
    Thanks again ...
