Elements 13 expand version sets

Just installed PS Elements 13 and cannot expand version sets. I can go into Editor and open the original of the version set, but when I save that photo, it replaces the existing one in the organizer. Geez.

Well, I discovered the problem. Under "View", you must check "Details" to get the version set expansion arrow.

  • Organizer view has no spaces between the pictures.  How do I see the arrows to see the elements of a version set

    My organizer view does not look like the view in the tutorials.  The photos are all lined up in a solid mass with no gray space in between.  I can't see arrows to view elements of a version set, and the photos are difficult to pick out individually.  I thought about just deleting all the photos and importing them again, but I can't because the program keeps saying they are already in the organizer.   When I delete the album the photos are in, they are still in the organizer and still in a solid mass. I also can't seem to find any way to delete the sample photos.  So I have two questions: how to delete photos from the program and how to fix the view.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Go to the View menu and select Details or Ctrl & D
    It changes back to the classic grid display
    To delete pictures from the catalog, select the picture(s) and then press the Delete key. You will then be asked if you want to also delete them from the hard drive. Make your own choice as required.

  • Can't Expand Version Set

    Just installed Elements 13.  The "Expand all items in Version set" is not working for me.  What am I doing wrong?

    Thank You Barbara.  I knew it was operator error.

  • Modifying Version Set and/or Stack Attributes

    My Photoshop Elements (PSE) 5.0 catalog has many version sets and stacks.
    Contrary to my expectation, I recently learned that that edits to the top photo's attributes (e.g. Date, Caption, Notes, Tags, etc.) did not translate through to the underlying photos of the associated version set or stack. As a consequence, subsequently moving a different photo to the top of a stack or version set can lead to loss (or at least displacement) of these important attributes.
    Is there a way to get PSE to automatically copy attribute changes through to the underlying photos or at least to ask the user if (s)he wants edits to translate through the version set or stack? If this feature is not currently available, I think it would be a significant value-added enhancement to the product.

    Users tend to use software differently and to have differing needs and preferences. Barb's point is valid in that, should Adobe provide the ability to assign attributes 'through' a version set or stack, the feature would warrant a user prompt or preference setting to acomodate user's differing needs and preference.
    Exceptional software, like PSE, anticipates and supports user needs in an efficient and predictable manner. Version sets, almost by definition, can be expected to have the same date, time, tags, captions and notes. Stacks - perhaps to a lesser degree.
    Forcing users to perform tasks in a specified sequence (e.g. adjusting attributes before version sets or stack generation), or to expand stacks or version sets to assign attributes through to underlying photos, seems unnecessarily tedious and inconvenient. For instance, expanding version sets and stacks forces users to aboard current search criteria.
    Anyone who has imported large batches of scanned negatives or slides which contain no meaningful metadata (with PSE set to auto-correct red-eye and to recommend stacks) knows how easy it is to generate version sets and stacks BEFORE the user begins the process of attribute assignment or correction.

  • Moving Version Sets in PSE 3

    I edited photos and saved in a version set. Then I moved the photos to a different file location. If I browse in PSE 3, it shows the version set in the new location. But if I browse on My Computer, the original photo did not move (only the edit).
    How do I grab the entire version set to move to another folder? If this is not possible, how do I seperate the version set? (Everytime I try to do this, it wants to delete the edited pictures first.)
    I have spent many hours trying to organize all my old pictures and I'm almost ready to give up and just use the freebie Microsoft Photo Editor and My Pictures :( Thanks for your help!

    This is a bug in the "version set" feature in PSE 3.0 that is fixed in
    version 4.0. Did you right-click on the version set and then choose
    version set->expand version set (or is it reveal version set?). You can
    then choose each individual picture in your version set and move them
    one at a time.

  • I have installed elements 13 from a disc and the organizer recognizes version sets, but won't let me expand them.  Is there a patch?

    I have installed elements 1`3 from a disc and cannot expand a version set. Help?

    This is PSE 13? If so, it's not a bug, it's a feature. The new adaptive grid view in the organizer, where you see the thumbnails edge-to-edge, doesn't do stacks or version sets. Press. Ctrl+D/Command+D to get back to the old detail view instead.

  • Problems using version set in Elements 9

    Hi!
    I have problems using the version set. When saving files in the Element 9 editor I can not mark the "version set" option, its not highlighted and not possible to mark or use. Is there a basic setting that I´m missing or??? I have the MAC version of Elements.
    Also I have noticed that when I have edited a file in the Elements 9 editor and I come back to the Organizer the editor have changed the time of the photo? This means that its rather difficult to find the photo in the Organiser. It often change the time 1 or 2 hours.
    As I cant use the version set I can not keep my tags on the edited pictures. Is there a setting for keeping the tags and catalogue belongings to a edited file?
    As of today this software makes no sense to me and I can basically not keep working with it as it does not support basic functionality that I´m dependent on.

    I’m not seeing this in my own version sets in PSE9; when I expand the set every image has the same date and time under each thumbnail.
    I’m wondering if you have used the “save for web” command at some point, which
     wipes all EXIF metadata, including the date & time of the original - in order to optimize the image for display on the internet. So if you have imported such an image Elements has to make an estimate. Apart from this known scenario I can’t really explain what’s going on.

  • PSE13 Organizer: stacks and version sets do not expand

    Converted three catalogs from PSE12 show the stacks/versions sets overlay symbols in organizer but there seems to be no way to expand the stack/version set. All the menu choices for doing this are disabled.
    Anybody else seeing this? Any workaround? Any ETA besides PSE 14 or higher for a fix?

    I had the same issue. It took me a lot of time playing with the interface before I finally figured out the problem. Even though, when you double click a photo (single view) from within the default grid view, you "do" get the option to expand a stack or version set (not greyed out). However, it does not work. My frustration with that is that since it was not greyed out you would naturally expect it to be functional and it is not. In grid view the option is greyed out however that caused confusion as well since this option works in Elements 12 default view. So, one assumes it is a defect. Right? So the solution is to switch the grid view to detail view (view -> detail). Once you do that then the expand function works as expected. This should have been explained as I believe it is a change in functionality (user work flow) from earlier versions. I did try to find wording about this in the help file but no luck.

  • How do I move my Elements photo files to a new computer keeping the catalog & version sets?

    How do I move my Elements photo files to a new computer keeping the catalog & version sets?

    I recommend you ask that in the PSE forum. I'm sure there is some import/ export hocuspocus involved...

  • Support Photoshop Elements 5 Stacks and Version Sets

    I would like to see stacks in Lightroom that work the same way as those in the Photoshop Elements 5 Organizer. PSE5 stacks are far more capable than Lightroom ones. (Can stack across multiple folders, can include version sets in stacks, etc.)
    Additionally, I would love to see support for PSE5 Version Sets. These are similar to the "Stack with original" option, but work more smoothly (latest version is always automatically on top, for example).
    Since Adobe has already implemented these in PSE5, you would think it would be pretty simple to also include them in Lightroom.

  • PS Elements Version Sets = Duplicate Images in Revel

    I am using Elements 12 and Revel. I have a very large library with many version sets containing my master RAW file and an edited JPG copy. Prior to Revel acepting RAW files, I had no problem. Only my JPEGs were uploaded. Now however, I am seeing hundreds of duplicate photo images in my library, ie both the master RAW and my JPEG of the exact same image. While I love the fact that Revel can accept RAW images I am now frustrated over the fact that I have to scroll through so many duplicate images when viewing my photos on my iPad. Is there any way to hide images in Revel? Any suggestions as to how I can fix this (prevent Revel from uploading both the RAW and JPEG images in a version set) or having an option to hide either the RAW or JPEG image after Revel uploads them?
    Mark

    PS Elements creates and uploads the JPEG versions for RAW files. As a workaround for this problem, you can create an album under library  in PS Elements and add all the RAW files to this album. This way all the JPEG versions of RAW files would be present in an album and this change would be propagated to iPad as well. So it would help in filtering out duplicate JPEG versions in your library.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 (Mac) Organizer - Can't save file with version sets.

    I have spent many hours now trying to get Elements Organizer to save Version Sets when I've edited a photo. I've tried more or less every little thing you can find online without any luck. But just moments ago I found that if I move the file to my desktop everything works just fine. I then tried to edit files in a few other folders (also imported to my Organizer) and found that when ever the folder was named to something with a nordic letter in it (å, ä, ö) then I couldn't save my file with version sets (option greyed out) but if I moved that same file to another folder, well then everything worked as it's suposed to.
    I'm using the trial version of PSE 13 for Mac (Yosemite) and the full version is ordered and on it's way. But if this problem can't be fixed, I need to return that order and buy some other photo editing program.
    Can anyone help me with this problem? Is there perhaps a solution to this?
    Please, any help is much appreciated!

    I'm using the English version (as more or less always - Swedish is rarely an option). The thing is that I have never encountered this problem before in any other software I've been using, and certainly not in Aperture that I've been using up until now.
    I name my photo folders with a date and a few words, for ex. "2014-12-31 New Years in Stockholm" (but I normally write in Swedish). I use this method so that my folder that contains the original photos will be easy to find in even without any other software than Finder (or Windows Explorer if I connect my external drive to a Windows machine). I could change the name of all of my folders, or at least all of the folders with a name containing one or more of the letters Å, Ä or Ö to "force" PSE to work as it should, but why? This really shouldn't be a problem.
    I was hoping that their was a simple option or something like that that could fix this issue, but I guess not.
    If this problem lies in the software itself I will have to return it and look elsewhere (but where? Lightroom is certainly not an option if Adobe can't handle "normal" letters and Aperture is discontinued in a few months).
    Thank you for your reply!

  • Version sets in Elements 12

    I have just upgraded from 8. I can load my Raw file ok (.NEF) into the raw converter and make adjustments as necessary. However, when I open the image and then save as, although the version sets option is ticked, it does not appear back in the organiser. The file is on the hard disk ok, but does not seem to be accessable from the orhganiser. I've seen some other people are having similar issues with version sets in elements 12 but I can't see what the soluton is.

    Thanks for this advice. I killed ElementsAutoanalyzer.exe as described and this has partially solved the problem. Now when I open the image from the raw converter, and then immediately Save As, I get the options for save to organiser and include in version set ticked, the file is saved but doesn't appear in the organiser. If I then Save a second time (the option Save As is disabled), I get only the option to include it in the organiser (the include in version set option is disabled). This time, after checking ok to overwrite the existing file, it is included in the organiser next to the original file. Further editing of this file does save to a version set, so you end up with the original file and then a version set of all the edits. This is ok, although not ideal as it wastes space in the organiser.

  • How to set Bookmark element to expand

    Hi All,
    First I'll explain the solution so that you understand what I'm trying to accomplish.
    The solution involves several PDF files and each one is linked by the bookmark using the following DDX:
    <Bookmark>
        <Action>
              <Launch NewWindow="true">
                   <File Name="MyFile.pdf"/>
              </Launch>
         </Action>
         <Title>Contents</Title>
    </Bookmark>
    Each PDF file will contains the same bookmark hierarchy data which consist of several levels, therefore they contain the links to the other PDF files.  Each time one of the bookmark element is clicked the bookmark resets back to it's orginal state of collapsed since it is opening a new pdf file.
    I'm trying to dynamically assemble a bookmark.xml file with a pdf document.  There are two things I want to accomplish through the bookmark.xml:
    1.  Set one specific bookmark element to expanded when it's rendered
    2.  Set the focus (or highlight) a specific bookmark element when it's rendered.
    Basically each time a bookmark item is clicked I want to maintain the user's last selected bookmark item to be expanded when the new pdf file is displayed.
    I've attached a sample pdf file in which I can manipulate the expanding and collapsing of the bookmark via javascript, I need to figure out how to do this via the xml file that defines the bookmark hierarchy and functions, since the bookmark is merged with the PDF via the Assembler DSC service.
    Is this possible?  If yes what xml tag would accomplish this?  Please provide any suggestion or alternative solution.  Currently I have two alternative solution (html or flex UI) but this involves additional depencies outside of LiveCycle, I'd like to create a solution that is completely Adobe LiveCycle.
    Thanks,
    s_stuff

    Perhaps as a workaround I could insert javascript into the resulting pdf.
    I want to insert the following script:
    function CollapseExpand(bkm, nLevel, bookmarkNm){
        var s = "";
        for (var i = 0; i < nLevel; i++) s += " ";
        if (bkm.children != null){
            for (var i = 0; i < bkm.children.length; i++) {
                if (bkm.children[i].name == bookmarkNm){
                    if (bkm.children[i].open == 1)  bkm.children[i].open = 0;
                    else                            bkm.children[i].open = 1;
                CollapseExpand(bkm.children[i], nLevel + 1, bookmarkNm);
    The Adobe DDX reference mentions this:
    <PDF result="resultDoc">
            <PDF source="pdf1"/>
            <JavaScript source="js1", name="onOpen"/>
    </PDF>
    I’m not sure if I can put the entire function code to replace js1.  Is this workaround doable.  How can I insert javascript via ddx?

  • Elements 12 version set issue in Organizer

    The inclusion of edited versions in the Elements 12 Organizer inexplicably stopped working with in the last 3 weeks (I've had the software since June 2014). If I navigate to the edited photo in Windows Explorer, it is there but I cannot see it in the Organizer media window or folder view. It's as if it is invisible to the Elements 12 program.  I have tried importing into the Organizer but it tells me the file all ready exist. To which I say, duh? I know that. I have not downloaded any new software, only standard updates, and to my knowledge, nothing has changed on my PC. Any suggestions as to what the issue is?

    Thank you for the reply, MichelBParis.
    I have done as suggested. Adobe Application Manager says my "applications are all up-to-date as of 1 minute ago."
    Below is a copy of system info.
    Elements Organizer 12.0.0.0
    Core Version: 12.1 (20140303.12.1.49334)
    Language Version: 12.0 (20130903.r.43239)
    Important Drivers / Plug-ins / Libraries:
    Microsoft DirectX Version: 9.0
    Apple QuickTime Version: Not installed
    Adobe Reader Version: Not installed
    Adobe Acrobat Version: Not installed
    Are there any other suggestions as to what could cause version set feature to stop working properly?
