Elements 13 install fails on my Mac

I purchased the CD disk for Elements 13 and have tried to install it on my Macbook Pro, which has the OSX 10.8.5 operating system and 4 GB of RAM. I've made two attempts at installing it and each time, when it got to 99 % installed, suddenly the install failed and the CD disk was ejected. I had to use my Elements serial number for each install even though neither install worked. Now I'm wondering: Why won't the install work? And have I used up my two installs for this Elements serial number uselessly? At the moment I am not fond of this Adobe product.

You mean downloading rather than uploading, right? You can't exactly do that. The photo downloader in PSE/mac has to be launched manually each time you use it. But you can do this:
Go to the iphoto prefs>General>Connecting Camera Opens>No Application.
That will stop your photos going to iphoto. Now if you want the pics in the organizer instead, just go to Organizer>File>Get Photos>From Cameras and Card Readers, and bring them in that way, or just drag the folder with images in it from the card (it will mount on your desktop after you turn off that iphoto pref), put them where you want them, and use file>get phots>from files and folders to import them.

  • Yosemite install fail - Mid-2010 Mac Mini

    Hi –
My Mac Mini is caught an endless loop of trying to install Yosemite. I get several types of reasons why Yosemite can't be installed (depending on time of day I suppose) and I cannot get it out of this cycle. CMD+R on reboot doesn't get me into recovery, it's suggested I go to disk utility from a non-existent menu bar and I'm afraid my Mac's bricked. I'm tempted to order Mountain Lion from the store and see if I can get it running but it warns that I must first have a functioning Mac, which Yosemite has made sure I don't.
On boot, I get a loading bar that takes a painfully long time to fill on a "Install OS X" screen. Once that's done, I'm asked if I want to continue installing OS X, the EULA appears and I'm asked to select which disk to install OS X to. Then it gets to installing...loading...loading...loading...From there I'm given a few reasons why the install won't happen. The most recent is: File system verify or repair failed
...and then I'm asked to restart and begin the same vicious cycle all over again.
    Thanks for any help!

You need to wipe the drive and reformat. If you have an external drive you can install Yosemite on the external then boot from the external drive and do a clone backup of your internal drive then reformat the drive. (reformatting erases the drive)
    Create a Clone backup:
    What is a clone backup?
A clone is an exact bootable copy of your internal drive. Unlike standard copying of all files to another drive, the clone software copies hidden files along with other in-use files that are not avaialbe  when you copy over files to another drive.
    More info on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_cloning
Time Machine is not bootable. You can only restore from Time Machine.
    Software used to Clone:
    SuperDuper! http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    CCC http://www.bombich.com/download.html
Use Disk Utility to clone your drive:
    1. Select your new volume (indented) and click on the "Restore" tab.
    2. Drag your old volume to the Source field
    3. Drag your new hard drive to the Destination field.
    4. Click the check box for "Erasing Destination".
    5. Click restore at the bottom and it then will start copying over to your new hard drive.

  • Windows 7 Install fails on early Mac Pro

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced a blue screen failure during installation of Windows 7 RC 32-bit on an early Mac Pro (pre-2008). I get almost to the very end of the install during the copy files/settings phase (last one), and after a reboot, Win7 seems to start, but eventually crashes with a blue screen.
This is on a separate hard drive formatted to all NTFS. I've tried an install from the DVD from scratch (freshly formatted drive), and then again as an upgrade from a Vista installation (this all took many hours - and I do this for fun?). All with 32 bit since I don't have access to 64 bit drivers. But the result was uniform in both cases. The same version installed perfectly with vmWare Fusion.
So I suspect some issue with my Mac Pro Quad, which is an early, first generation version. I know others have had success with Win7 on a Mac Pro, but maybe on 2008 and later versions?
I have yet to try Win7 64-bit. Hopefully will get cured by final release, but would just like to know if anyone else with early Mac Pros have had success.

I don't think you really need to worry about 64-bit drivers - I don't have any Apple software or Boot Camp.
You don't mention RAM, disk drives, or graphics card, or any other hardware and whether you tried w/o.
I would warn that our early Mac Pro will have to work around the EFI boot menu that Windows 7 RC x64 presents.
I've had my 7300GT culprit; a disk drive that had to be reformatted in Vista; pull the 4 x 512MB of RAM (Apple) that was beginning to trigger a red light. So there are various items. And they all took hours to diagnose, swapping hardware; lots of head scratching.
There is no cure except to get around hurdles. We are stuck in EFI 32-bit land. May have to / want to buy 10.6 to get newer drivers, but that won't add 64-bit support. You can if you must, get 64-bit Boot Camp. I feel it is optional.
If you can install Vista, then install Windows to another drive, leaving Vista alone. Burn the ISO to DVD and copy the DVD back to a 8GB NTFS partition and run Windows Install Setup off that is fast and neat.
Setup a drive with room for Vista, Windows 7 RC, 8GB ISO partition, and data partition. Or expand to multiple drives.
Burn the DVD slower. There are other tips and ideas.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1866970&tstart=0
I've found Kaspersky 2010 beta and license from 2009 Internet Suite to probably be the best I've tested so far in that area.
Fusion use to use Windows Server 2008, maybe it got updated to include a better profile, or it was only x64 that had any problems. Sun VirtualBox is another. With that, you can modify the DVD to allow booting easier if needed.
I have Vista SP1, then put in Vista SP2-RC (same drive) and for Windows 7 I have one install that is for testing anything new first, and another that I use daily regularly - and prefer to use 7.7100 RC now instead of Vista.
Installing Windows while booted in Windows is neat, can be fast, but first find the hardware issue. Most BSOD is drivers and need to safe boot and uninstall drivers, but you may not have gotten even that far. And don't until you have a restore point, and be ready to reboot from Vista or 7 DVD to repair Windows.

  • Elements 7 install fails on vista 64 bit

I, too am 1 of the many foolish enough to try to upgrade a program in Vista. I was foolish enough to think that if elements 5 would install in vista 64 bit, 7 would. That's what I get for thinking- I bought and downloaded PE7(which installed fine) and Elements 7 upgrade and here is the message

    any ideas?
           Confused

I ran the downloaded exe file an ran it as an administrator
Do you mean that you ran it from an account that has administrator priviliges, or that you right-clicked the downloaded .exe and selected Run As Administrator?  On Vista, the two are not the same; if you haven't already, try the latter (Run As Administrator).

  • Premier Elements 10 Install fails on Win 7 64bit.

I purchased the Photoshop/Elements 10 bundle on black friday and have installed photoshop elements. When I download Premier it says it can't install on Win 7 64 bit. The download page says the same thing. Where can I get a 64 bit version of the software I purchased?

    Welcome to the forum.
I have not explored the download versions of the program, but with the media version, there are two different versions of PrE - the 32-bit and the 64-bit (only for Windows). Then, there is a disc with the Functional Content, that needs to be installed after the program.
My guess would be that on the download site, there will be two Windows versions, the 32-bit and the 64-bit, but have not been there. I would begin my search there. If you cannot find the 64-bit version, I would contact Adobe Customer Service, and ask for the exact URL for the 64-bit version.
Good luck, and maybe others will know exactly where the 64-bit version is located, plus what the download file's name is.

You may try the following steps but if it still fails with same errors then your installer might be corrupt -
    1) Uninstall the incomplete installation (Uninstall shortcut can be found at /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/)
    2) Ensure no such file or directory is present after un-installation "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/9.0/Photo Creations/frames/Element_Panoramic Frame.psd". In case it is present rename/delete it.
    3) Reboot the machine
    4) Copy the installer locally to your machine (if running from disc) and try to install again

  • PSE 11 failed installation on Mac: HELP!

I spent most of yesterday trying to install PSE 11 (from disc) on my MacBook Pro (after installing a new SSD) - but failing miserably.
I already have CS5 on the MacBook Pro.
Although I am a veteran Mac user (since 1988) I've hit a mental brick wall: I've tried using the Adobe tool for clearing out previous installations of PSE (going back to PSE6).

No problems remember the migration assistant is great for transferring files and settings.  It is transferring applications from one computer to another which can end up causing unexpected difficulties.
Also another option if you are restoring from a Time Machine back up is to simply install OS X, create a new User account, and then use Time Machine to recover your documents and settings on the new computer.  I have used this workflow the last two times I set up a new, or newly formatted Mac, with great success.  I just picked the files and folders I wanted brought back and then clicked on the restore button.

I tried to install on an external drive as well and found Bridge CS3 and Stock Photos CS3 in the folder.
I had installed a trial of CS3 sometime ago, but did not go ahead with it.  There is nothing in any folder relating to PSE or CS3 that I can find.  Any suggestions? Roger

Well, I'm pretty sure that at this point you may not be able to install the trial at all, since they're set up to think you're cheating on the 30 day limit if you try an uninstall/reinstall. The problem is the PS trial you had before. What you need to do is to download and run this:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
to remove the last bits of the CS3 trial before installing PSE 6. It won't hurt to try it, but whether you'll be able to run the PSE trial will depend on how far the installer got the first time, I'm afraid.

  • Im trying to install Photoshop Elements premier 12 on my new Mac with the latest update and i keep getting the same failed to initialise message.

Im trying to install Photoshop Elements premier 12 on my new Mac with the latest update and i keep getting the same failed to initialise message. I was able to register the key code at first but now im not able to either open the program or reinstall it.

What is "Photoshop Elements Premier 12"? Do you mean Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements? Were your files copied over from a previous mac that had PSE installed on it?

  • The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Question: The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Absolutely - but I had no idea there were two versions. When I got my new laptop I just went to the Adobe site to download and install LR5. It never asked if I had a license; it just directed me to install CC to start a trial which I thought I could license after downloading. Several sessions and many hours of looking through the forums and Google for an answer I never ran across anything that made this distinction. I still haven't found a path from www.adobe.com that would get me to the standalone download page (it's probably there, wasn't obvious to me) and looking at the download page it doesn't make any CC/standalone distinction.
There are many places I could have gotten a hint - for instance the license could be tagged "stand alone edition", the CC-version could recognize the stand-alone key and either accept it or produce a more meaningful error message, or the download site or the CC app could ask if I had previously purchased a key, etc.
It was my error to assume this was a deactivation problem, but it looked the same as a previous deactivation problem with Photoshop.
In any event, thank you for your help.
