Elements 13 on MacBook Pro unusable

I'm having nothing but problems with Elements 13.  The scroll and zoom functions are completely unusable.  The slightest touch on the trackpad scrolls all the way to the top/bottom of the thumbnails before I can stop it.  Same with the zoom:  it zooms in/out from min to max and back uncontrollably.  I have a MacBook Pro wi/ OS X 10.9.5 at the moment.  I've since read that this has been a problem for multiple versions without being fixed.  I've tried setting the trackpad preferences repeatedly to no avail.  Yes, I've also reinstalled.  One "support" response I saw tried to blame it on Apple, the Mac, and OS X somehow not "playing nice."  I have several other basic photo editing tools from Olympus, Canon, Fuji, Silkypix, and iPhoto, not to mention lots of other apps, and NONE of them have this problem.  I am also getting repeated lost file messages (I can see them just fine in Organizer) that are constantly interrupting viewing and editing.  Both Organizer and Editor have crashed/locked up repeatedly.  I haven't been able to complete one session without something going awry and forcing me to restart.
I've spent considerable time over several days now to get nowhere.  The Help functions and support site have been absolutely no help.  I had an older version of Elements on a PC that came with an older Nikon digital camera and had no problems (at least not with Elements), so I thought it would be a piece of cake to use on the Mac.  I've long since moved on from Windows and the Nikon.  I was hoping to consolidate all my photos and editing under one tool on the Mac.  Perhaps I should have tried the Trial version, but I thought given the reviews and reputation of Photoshop and my previous experience that this was a solid choice.  Even this website crashed on me.  NO IT IS NOT a problem with the Mac--only this set of  apps.  I am about ready to give up and move on, but I'd like a refund.

Further info:
Running on a macbook pro.
Purchased through the apple app store.
Worked fine prior to mavricks update.
I have read where others have had this issue, the general response has been that they have had no support from adobe in resolving the problem. One guy said he managed to get issued a new download of the softwear that works fine with mavricks.
so there is a fix avalible but for some reason its not been a general update for all customers with premier elements 11?

The following may help you understand about deleting photos from a library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • Not able to install photoshop elements 11 on MacBook Pro OS 10.7.4

spent last two days downloading photoshop elements 11 onto MacBook Pro OS 10.7.4 multiple times with no luck opening and installing
popup reads: no default application specified to open the document PhotoshopElements _11_LS15-2.7z
other download reads as text only and says must open with Windows 32 - the rest is garbled encrypted and illegible
i am ready to get my money back and forget about this unless someone has an answer soon!

Yes, it's the Windows version. Download the correct Mac version, which by all means could be the trial even...

  • Does Adobe Photoshop Elements work with MacBook Pro with Retina display?

Does Adobe Photoshop Elements work with MacBook Pro with Retina display, please?
Have searched Adobe website for answer - most recent is 2013 answer, saying no.
Contradicted by a staff ember who only referred to Photoshop, not Elements.
Reason I need it is that iPhoto does not support very high resolution photos - which I have now scanned onto my MacBook and do not want to re-scan!! After 90 minutes at my local Genius bar (lovely folk, very conscientiously searching for an answer...), re-scanning was their final piece of advice.
    Help, please...

    Hello Smis,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand you are having issues with your HP Monitor on your MAC. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Updating a Monitor Driver, where it states under the sub-heading Using HP monitors on a Mac "HP monitors are not supported in a Mac environment. However, newer Macs use graphics with VESA modes and can display to most HP LCD monitors. To do this, connect the monitor to the Mac while the Mac is off, and then turn on the MAC. The monitor should operate at 60Hz. The INF and software for the HP monitor are for Microsoft Windows and cannot be run in a standard MAC OS environment."
This being said all I can advise is that you check to see that the monitor is set to operat at 60Hz and contact Apple for assistance if that does not get your monitor displaying correctly.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Does FCP perform better than adobe premiere elements on a MacBook Pro?

does FCP perform better than adobe premiere elements on a MacBook Pro?
    Background:
    * just trying to decide what to go for re video editing app with more features than iMovie
    * last time I'd tried Adobe Premiere Elements on my MacBook (but it was before I had an SSD) the performance was not good - it was sluggish to the point I really didn't want to use it
    * so this question is just about whether in general FCP X performs better on a Mac (you'd think it would no, as it's made/optimized for a Mac)
    My MacBook:
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Elements is essentially an amateur app and Premiere a professional one similar to the discontinued Final Cut Pro 7.
FCP X is a radical new approach to editing which like Marmite, you either love or hate.
It is probably between the 2 in capabitlity but much closer to Premiere.
Some might say it was better than Premiere, whilst other long standing broadcast editors would disagree.
It all depends on your standpoint and I am trying to give an unbiased appraisal.
Some of the techniques it uses are way ahead of all other apps and this is what worries people who have an established way of working, though as I mentioned in another post, there are a few omissions which have upset those editors.
Some might say (echoes of Jeremy Clarkson) that FCP X is the most advanced editing app on the planet albeit with a few teething troubles.

  • Does photoshop elements 12 support MacBook Pro retina display?

Does elements 12 support MacBook Pro retina display?

The point about whether to use an automatic process or not is a separate issue. I can understand that some people would not want to use it. However, even doing it manually in PE12 does not use the MWG standard.
Thanks for the pointer to the thread, which I note was started 2 years ago, with the last comment a year ago.
From that, I draw the conclusion that the PE developers see this as a very low priority. All the more reason for me to look at competitor products that do support this standard (e.g. Picasa and Photo Supreme).
    Thanks again.

  • How to install Photoshop Elements 11 on Macbook Pro 10.8.3 after the installer failed to initialize

I tried several times to install Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro (10.8.3) but the installer failed to initialize and the Support Advisor inspection could not identify any issue. I went today to the Apple Store to get help and the Genius guy couldn't resolve the problem either. He told me to contact Adobe Support and he gave me an Adobe token number.
Does anyone knows how can I resolve this problem? Any help would be truly appreciate it!!!
    Thanks a lot!!!

  • Transfer photoshop and premiere elements to new macbook pro?

how can I transfer my online purchase of photoshop elements and premiere elements from my old macbook to my new macbook pro

You will need the backup of the original download package. If you purchased from Adobe, less than three years ago, another download may be possible. Click on the red Adobe logo (top left of this forum page) and log-in to My Adobe and then explore your purchase history.

  • Installation of Elements 10 on MacBook Pro

I have attempted to download my recently purchased Photoshop Elements 10 on my MacBook Pro. The applications appear to be present on the system but organizer will not start - initializing box appears then I get dialogue box, "Adobe Elements 10 Organizer quit unexpectedly". Also when I try to start the edit module I get "could not initialize photoshop elements because you do not have the necessary access privileges".  I have also uninstalled the software and reinstalled a trial version but get the same result. Premier Elements 10 seems to function, albeit without access to organizer. Any solution please?

Very grateful for your help.  I logged as a different user as you suggested and the application worked - so I returned to the original name to sort out the problem.  I had previously checked the privileges of some folders but I had not searched deeply enough for the error.  It happens that the problem lay with access privileges to folders created in Users > [User name] > Library > Applications Support > Elements Organizer.  Once I had modified the privileges for the "10.0" folders I could start the applications.  Thanks again.

  • Windows error notice when trying to open ELEMENTS download in MacBook Pro

I successfully downloaded ELEMENTS 11 onto my Mac desktop, and it works fine. I then attempted downloading onto my MacBook Pro, and it appeared to download all elements of the bundle appropriately. However, when I try to open ELEMENTS, it shows a box (like DOS language) and tells me I can only open it in windows. What do I need to do to correct this?

I attempted downloading my second copy direct from Adobe. It went through
the process of "downloading bundles" etc, took about 30-45 minutes to
complete, then gave me an "Installation Successful" message. However, there
is no Elements application icon on the computer, and I cannot find anywhere
the program downloaded to. There are only two files showing in "Downloads",
and they are PhotoshopElements_11_LS15.exe and .7z, 1.3 MB and 1.06 GB
respectively. Clicking the .exe file brings up a msg saying "this program
must be run under Win32, and the 7z  file comes up with the message that
there is no application to open the document. Other than that, there are no
other Photoshop/Adobe application files to be found.

  • Can you install 2 different versions of premier elements on same macbook pro 11 and 13

I have just purchased premier elements 13 and want to install it on my macbook pro which already has premier elements 11.  Full Versions both.
Also have adobe photoshop elements 13 and want to install on same macbook pro which has CS5 extended...
Is this OK?   ALL working so far with yosemite.

The old "pop the DVD in, hold down Option or Command + C and just do a clean install on your new drive doesn't cut it?
As for SL, it has to be retail, can't be the OEM gray disc from another Mac specific model.
First, start up your computer from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD.  After it mounts, choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu.
Choose Startup Disk from the View menu.
Select the Mac OS X Install DVD as the startup disk and click Restart.
