Elements 13 slow in editing

Using Elements 13 with iMac and latest OS X Yosemite editing photographs is slow. My processor is 2.7GHz with L2 cache of 4 cores and 256 KB per core and L3 core of 4 MB. Surely this should be powerful enough to edit photos of 10MB up to composite psd files of around 50 MB?

I'm having the same problem.  Trying to work with the organizer and editor is very slow, and frequently requires me to force quit and start again.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled more than once.  I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.5 with a 2.7 GHz Intel core i7 processor, 4DG memory 1333MHz DDR3.  It was a problem with previous versions and am now using version 12 of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements.  VERY frustrating.

First of all, did you have PSE installed before updating to 10.10? If so, you need to do this:
A Reminder for Mac Folks upgrading to Yosemite | Barbara's Sort-of-Tech Blog
Also, be sure you have updated to 10.10.1. And if you have a large number of recently imported images in the organizer, PSE will be slow till organizer is through creating thumbnails for the photos.

  • .FLV Format to Adobe Premier Elements 4 for editing -- Difficulty

    Hi:
Have Dell Dimension 4600 with 2.4 GigHz CPU
    WINXP with SP-2
    RAM = 1 GIG
    2 HD's (20 & 200 gigs)
I recently downloaded from YouTube a lot of
videos by using RealPlayer's software (version 11),
    which uses the .FLV format.
I want to transfer them to Adobe Premier Elements 4
for editing, but it will not accept this format.
    I tried using Virtual Dub and/or MPEG-Streamclip
to change this format and they too would not
    recognize this .FLV format
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

    Hi again:
Have some questions about the Moyea FLV Plug-in:
As previously stated, I have been using the Prism Video converter,
which does seem to convert the FLV file to some type of an AVI file.
I then load this AVI file into Premium Elements 4 (PE4), and it first
has to be "conformed" in the PE4 software.
Then, if one attempts to open and edit this file, it either is an ex-
tremely slow process, or the software freezes, requiring a re-start
(sometimes multiple times) to complete the editing before rendering
it into an edited AVI file.
Curious to find a work-around, I avoided this first time editing
and just had the PE4 software just re-render the whole intact
Prism-generated AVI file into a PE4-generated AVI file which has
apparently much less "overehead" and can easily be edited in PE4.
so, I end up re-re-rendering the original FLV to get the edited AVI
    file I want.
Does the Moyea FLV Plug-in avoid this labor-time intensive task??
Also, its web site advertises 2 different packages:
    1) FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere:
"FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere is a plug-in program for Adobe
Premiere. Adobe Premiere is a professional and popular video editing
tool, which allows importing video and audio in various formats, like
AVI, MPE, MPG, M2V, MP3, WMV, WMA, WAV, etc.
Yet, it does not support the FLV file, which is widely used on the
web. FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere is just a program to make
Adobe Premiere accept the FLV file for video editing and composing."
    Price: $60
    2) FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere:
"FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere is the same with the Pro version,
except the Flash 8 alpha video import and cheaper with 20$ off!
It is a plug-in program for Adobe Premiere.
Adobe Premiere is a professional and popular video editing tool, which
allows importing video and audio in various formats, like AVI, MPEG,
MPG, M2V, MP3, WMV, WMA, WAV, etc. Yet, it does not support the FLV
file, which is widely used on the web.
Support FLV files encoded by any codec, like:
    Flash 8, H.263, RAW, ADPCM, MP3, Nellymoser.
FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere is just a program to make Adobe Prem-
iere accept the FLV file for video editing and composing."
    Price: $40
    (version 2)
The product sites of Moyea Software:
    Video-to-flash.com, Flvsoft.com, My-video-converter.com.
    The homepage of Moyea Software:
    http://www.moyea.com
Which one is the most practical to get??
The site offers a "Free Trial"--is that worthwhile??
    Finally, is this site trustworthy??
I am using the PE4 mainly for the conversion of FLV files and would
appreciate any rational method for accelerating the process.
    Thanx.

  • Slow Code Editing in Flash Builder 4.7

For some reason my Code Editor works painfully slow. I see that other folks have experienced this issue. I don't want to switch to another IDE. I have already increased the values of Xms and XMX (Xms1024m -Xmx2048m) and also created a new workspace but it did not make a difference. Other appliations work fine. I am using a i7 laptop with 16GB of RAM.
FB was working fine and then all of a sudden started to slow down. I believe that it happened after I  installed Apached Flex SDK but I am not positive. I have other IDEs that I use for testing things so that might be a problem as well. I would like some help to fix the slow code editing because it is making it difficult to use FB and I don't want to change.
    I have Creative Cloud account.
The size of the project is 19mb.

    Hi Blake,
In another page (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1056583), Adobe states that it will be possible to download 4.6 in alternative to 4.7, to still have the Design View. However, I have not seen such possibility yet.
I will not say that "real programmers don't use design mode". They do, if it works fine.
However, the Design View was not very useful for mobile projects, if you wanted to create an interface which, at run time, adapts to different screen estates.
It was very good to draw an initial mock-up, but only the simulator (and the device) can say how the app really looks like (if you want to know more, please have a look here: http://aliencoding.com/2013/02/22/adobe-flash-builder-4-7-has-no-design-view-is-it-blasphe my-no-but-the-software-contains-some-other-blasphemous-aspects/).
If you develop for desktop, then I agree the Design View lack is a real drag. I think Adobe should at least lower the price of the program, now that it's been scaled down for (I think) copyright issues (the Design mode relies on Flash professional components that was not donated to Apache).
I love this platform because it really saved my butt in cases of real fast devployment, BUT NOW it lacks support for Windows 8 that PhoneGap has...
Can we say... it is a legacy framework by now?

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Upgrade Edition

Just purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Premiere Elements 10 upgrade edition from Amazon.  Installed both and no where did it ask to confirm I had the older versions.   I previously have had Adobe Photoshop Elements 9,8,7,6 and Adobe Photoshop Preimiere Elements 4.
When I logged into my account did it automatically validate I owned an older version?  I just want to make sure it registered correctly.

Yes it will be automatic. If you click on My Adobe at the top of this forum you should be able to see all of your registered products and serial numbers.

  • Color correction slows down editing

In CS 5.5 I  adjusted the curves for color correction for the first time and then renedered the 12min video for 1hour 20min. I now see a couple of minor clip edits I want to make.  However, Premiere is acting very slow and choppy.  Is the color correcting I did slowing the edit process down?

Truthfully, what I would recommend is to turn off all CC,
edit, nail your timings... then color correct.
I always have considered and treated CC as a 'final touch'
that can't really be done full justice until the cut itself is solid.
    But...
If you have clips that really need to be CC'ed as you are editing,
you should Preview Render those clips for smooth playback
in the Timeline as you continue to edit.

  • Adobe premiere elements 9 not editing

This is my second attempt to post (my last one a little while ago didn't appear).
I have bought the above package mainly to edit some club videos.  It is driving me mad.
    I have a Sony Viao
    Vista Home Premium
    Service pack 2
    Intel Core DUO CPU
    2.00 GB Ram
    32-bit
I have imported a video from my comcorder to the PC via ION EZ Converter.  The video is stored as a .mpg file.
When I open up organiser the thumbnail is there.
The first time I opened organiser I somehow managed to drag the video to the left side of the screen and got a timeline but when I started it up I got sound but no picture.  However, now when I open up organiser and go into EDIT, aand try to drag across I get automatically sent into video effects and can't go back!
I was told that the problem may be due to incorrect codecs and I have downloaded K-LITE MEGA Codec but that doesn't seem to have helped.
Before I did this I also got a message in elements
"we have detected an incompatible display driver. To get a better and faster playback performance please update your display driver.
Display driver details: NVIDIA Corporation - GeForce 8400M G7/PCI/SSE2 2.1.1"

Hi, Graham WT. Sorry you're having trouble. You know, Premiere Elements has its own forum, and the video mavens mostly hang out there:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
You'll probably get more help with this if you post over there, where more people are working with video. Good luck!

  • JDeveloper 12c too slow do edit BPM Process

    Dear forum members,
I have installed the quickstart SOA/BPM 12c bundle and I am using Process Composer and JDev to develop a customer's POC.
The problem is, when I download my BPM project from PAM in JDEV, it is really slow do edit it. From moving a task in the model to using data association.
I imported a project without relation to the repository and it wasn't so slow. I also have disabled auto build on save, which actually improved the performance a bit.
    Has anybody experienced that?
    Regards.

I solved the problem by installing the 18964763 patch from Oracle Support.

  • In elements 6, certain edited files lose color when transfered to Photomail or Online Gallery. Why is this happening?

Using Elements 6- when editing files in certain applications such as Portrait Proffesional, the edited versions lose their color when transfered to Photomail or Online Gallery. Also, when I use elements 6 e- mail attatchment to e-mail a single file, I get a message that says too much has been taken up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well here's my workflow. I'm using Firewire external HD for storing Aperture library.
    1. Creating Folder with client's name
    2. Creating New project with shooting name in the clients folder.
    3. importing all RAW files into project. During that process i'm adding all keywords, time adjustment, credits etc....
    4. sorting photos, adding ratings (1 - for delete, 4 and 5 - to keep).
    5. making smart albums (according to ratings). Deleting all 1 star files.
    6. Editing all 5 stars (the one i'll give to the clients). If i'll need to edit it with photoshop, i'll use open in external editor. And keep the final psd file also in the Aperture library.
    7. Adding "final version" keyword to all files ready to be send to the client.
    8. Making a new smart folder (sorting by "final" keyword)
    9. Using internal web publishing - i'm publish them on my .Mac account. Sending the link to the client
    10. Using presets exporting tiffs and jpg versions and burning them on DVD for my client.
    11. Also - i'll print them using Aperture.
    12. Backing up the project - both on DVD and Aperture Vault (using external HD).
    13. I'm also backing up Aperture library using TimeMachine (using 3rd external drive).

  • IWeb - slow to edit

I started building a website with iWeb (first website ever actually).  It has grown to maybe 30 pages, and, there are quite a few images.  Working on changes to the site has become really cumbersome (very slow to edit).  I have plenty of RAM (12GB).  However, the CPU gets pegged at 90-100% anytime I touch iweb.  Just wondering if there is something I can do to make maintaining the site easier.
As a note, it loads fine on the web - no performance issues there.
    Thanks for any help.

Missed your 10.7. In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate

  • FCPX slow for editing

I'm surprised that FCPX 10.1.4 is so slow for editing, compare to FCP7.
I'm on it since 2 months, and I love a lot of features, but I'm so frustrated with the color wheel turning for each editing point...
I read a lot of post and then I add 16gb of RAM , so I have now 32 Gb on an Imac 27" i5 with Thunderbolt disk and Fusion drive.
So my config is not a macpro, but not so bad...
My editing is a classic 4 minutes corporate video, with speed motion, titling, black border, nothing extravagant...
Shooting codec is XDCAM EX in 1280x720... and I bought this machine to go to 4K thanks to my new Sony FS7 camcorder...
I don't think I will go far with a so slow software to edit 4K...
Is there trick to speed up the editing process ?
Main point is the rendering, each time you do a change FCPX render it, compare to FCP7 that was waiting for you to telling him to render... so you can concentrate on your editing, not waiting the wheel to stop turning...
I don't understand why FCP7 is so much faster on a 5 years old imac than a new one...
I'm not so sure that investing in a macpro will change dramatically the speed...

    hmmm... just re-enacted your timeline:
    two 'cropped' videos, a color-bar, a title, 4k ... :
    my source is 4k from a Lumix FZ1000, h.264mp4, 100MBs, NOT optimized!
==> no 'rendering', no beach-ball... ok, a lil' stutterish, my fastest drive is just a software Raid0 made with two tiny 2.5" Toshibas for 99€
    But manageable ...
I would check your Drobo if it is 'set' for handling video streams with FCPX.
In my hobbyist set-up, all drives are for sure hfs formatted...
No idea about SAN & Co, ntfs, ethernet, stuff  .....
PS: with optimized media (as Innocentius recommends) complete hassle-free … MacMini, late 2012, 16GBRam, no dedicated GPU
and my stuff can handle FCPX without ext. converters, HA, you viking (<< int. joke)

  • ColdFusion Builder - Slow when editing code

I have seen this many times on other forums, but haven't found any working solutions - my installation of the standalone Coldfusion Builder 1.0.0.25339 is nearly always very very slow when editing code (wehether this is cfm or css) i'm assuming the code hinting it somewhat to blame, but don't want to turn it off.
    Any help/solutions welcomed.

The current state of the product is that it's rife with performance problems.
Hopefully they'll be fixed in the next release.
What you're seeing is just how it currently works (ie: slowly).

  • Why has photoshop elements 11 expert editing mode slowed down considerably and always giving me a message that says the program is not responding

prompting me to either wait for the program to respond or shut down?Photoshop Elements@

I expect your technician has already tried this, but you can restore a PC to a point in time that is earlier than the problem first became apparent (see link below for windows 8)
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/system-restore-from-windows-8-recovery-environme nt/
    or it's
Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore in Windows 7
Any programs you've installed recently would be lost but all your other files and photographs would remain unaffected.
