Elements 13 stops working

I have installed Photoshop Elements 13 ( upgrade version from Elements 9) on my Windows 8.1 PC and the program stops working every time I attempt to use photomerge, with the exception so far of Photomerge Panorama. I have tried removing and reloading the software, but still have the fault. Can anyone help?  

I have now resolved this issue by resetting preferences.

    You need to remove third party plugin and try launching. You should find it in plugins folder either here C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Plug-Ins or C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins
    Else try skipping the loading of thirdparty plugins like below:
       1. Close Elements.
       2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl/cmd + shift as you click Editor/Edit.
       3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message to skip loading of 3rd party plugins..Click yes and check.

  • Premiere and Photoshop Elements Stopped working

    Been using both for a year. Over the last couple weeks every time I would start one up I'd get the Adobe free trial or subscribe to the Cloud option. Finally, neither (of the paid for programs) would load. Nothing changed on my system. No new software. No other problems. If it just stopped working that would be one thing. The fact that I started getting the sign up screen to trial or subscribe right before it stopped working leaves one to wonder, doesn't it?

    Good to hear from you. Hope that we can help you get your Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit working again.
    My Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit experiences were like yours much of last year. For me, Photoshop Elements 12 was months without resolution and each had its problems with Sign In.
    1. I strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to click on License This Product if you get that tryout dialog popping up and then to follow the instructions to get the program activated. There is no escaping the Sign In which comes with an automatic registration. That is an easy and quick resolution.
    2. Please review the the following to determine if you feel that these choices and continuing choices seem relevant to your situation

    When you do the downloads and installs, have you been disabling the antivirus and firewall(s)? This factor seems to have the most impact
    on the Adobe Application Manager file (.exe) in the .exe/.7z required files.
    Has exploration of the Event Viewer/Windows Logs/Applications errors and warnings offered any insights to pin point the issue as in one
    of the examples in one of the blog posts cited above?
    Think about the merits of troubleshooting one program at a time. Maybe we might get lucky, and one fix will fix both at the same time.
    Often after install/reinstall, deletion of settings files in Photoshop Elements 12/Elements Organizer 12/Premiere Elements 12 might still bring some
    resolution.

  • Elements stops working according to windows

    After about 15 minutes of usage, windows thinks the program stops working and then closes it down.  Even when I had a movie created and I tried to burn a DVD.  Got the first 4 menu's encoded, moves to Encoding media and I can see movement in the % complete just before an error comes up saying "the program has stopped working".  SOOOOOO Frustrating.  Uninstalled, reinstalled....  Still have the problem. 
    HELP!!

  • Elements stopped working

    Hi, I have used Elements 8 for several years, but have just recently installed Element 12. Everytime I try to do anything in Elements ( eg edit JPG, edit RAW, slide show,.. ) I get message 'Application has stopped working. Windows is looking for solution' after a short while. I run Elements on a Windows 7 PC.  The error comes so often that I'm currently not able to use Elements for any photo editing.
    Have any experienced anything similar, or even more important do anyone know how to get around this ?

    Check that your graphics card drivers are up to date.
    Check that Windows updates are up to date (You should be running W7 sp1 by now).
    Uninstall and reinstall. But when reinstalling right-click the setup.exe file and select 'Run as Administrator'.
    If that still doesn't work log a fault with Adobe ASAP. They will probably need to connect to your PC to troubleshoot the problem. And, worst case scenario, you want to ensure you can get a refund!

    in January 2014 adobe photoshop elements purchased at i-tunes store. Always worked properly. Now since about a week, I can not start the program. After startup, he asks to sign up with my Apple ID, when I do this it gives the error message: Your device or computer could not be verified. Please contact support for assistance. Have already had contact with i-tunes store, this let me know that this is something for Adobe.

    that's an apple error message so you should either:
    1.  contact apple to resolve.
    2.  uninstall photoshop elements (pse), reinstall using a link below and your pse serial number.  before uninstalling make sure you can download the correct version/language and you have your serial number available.

  • Elements stopped working-PDF?

    Suddenly, I cannot open the Edit program without getting the error dialog "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document.  It cannot be opened." It pops up when I open the program, try to open any document (trying to work with JPEGs), or if I try to click on anything in the program... tool, menu, etc. EVEN WITH NO FILE OPEN!  The error pops up constantly and the program is totally unusable.  I ran the update program and it is the latest version, but this keeps happeneing.  HELP! 

      Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option.
    You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
    Then wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.

    I can't think what would require a download. Occasionally some of the special effects need to be downloaded when you use them for the first time but you appear to not be trying anything new - "you've done it hundreds of times".
    Probably the first thing to try is to reset the preferences.
    Hold down the Ctrl, Alt and Shift key as you launch the editor and hold them down until you get the message about resetting the preferences - which you do.
    If you have changed any of the preferences, like allow floating documents, you will have to set them again.
    I don't think the backup should have caused this problem.
    Have you used it successfully since the backup and before the failure - or was this the first edit of the day?

  • Why does Elements stop working and shut down when I try to use the smartbrush tool?

    I can use the smart brush tool until I need to change the color. The second I try to change the color of my object, I get a pop up window that says there is a problem and windows has to close to the program. I have already restarted my computer and it still does it.

    There is an update available for Elements 13 which has stability fixes. Please install this update and let me know if you are still facing this issue.

  • Program stops working when making a wav file

    I've created a slide show and want to burn a DVD.  When I try to save a the slide show as a wav. file to export it to Premiere, Elements stops working about 80 percent into the transfer.  Any hints?  Anyone had this problem?  Thanks.
    Alternatively, any way around making a wav. file if I want to show the slideshow?  I've created it on my desktop computer, but could transfer it to a laptop.

    Well, when stuff stops working it means that something happened that made it go haywire so what did you install/configure/do before this happened? have you installed some photoshop plugins? updated some drivers? installed some new software?
    Another (far fetched) possibility would be that your anti-virus program is up to no good after an auto update so try temporarily deactivating it, maybe that will solve it.
    Or if it's as Chris says, a problem with the printer driver, try uninstalling the driver completely, not just disable it or maybe go to Control Panel->Printers, right click on Adobe PDF(or some other "printer" from the list) and select "Set As Default Printer"

    What computer operating system?
    Uninstall, free ccleaner run through, and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled is not a bad idea. But, let us look at some other
    factors before that.
    1. When you try to open the program, how far do you get....Welcome Screen - clicking on Organizer or Video Editor or other?
    Have you tried to open the program directly from the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file after you have applied Run As Administrator to that file?
    2. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? Are you working in a school or company network?
    3. Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of mouse?
    4. Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the website of the manufacturer of the card?
    4. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed and are you running the programs as administrator?
    Let us start here and then decide what next based on the details in your reply.
    Besides uninstall/ccleaner/reinstall, we may next try deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or the whole 13 Folder in which it
    exists or installing the program in a newly created user account with administrative privileges and trying to run the program from there.
    But, let us rule in or out the first 4.
    Any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • HI i have tried so many times to import images, both pictures and video from my hard drive to elements 131, and it keeps coming up with the error message " .....has stopped working we are looking for a solution to this problem etc " please help!

    After taking days to upload elements 13 I am now having trouble even trying to import my images and videos into the program for editing. Each time I IMPORT files an error message comes up that says " ....has stopped working, we are looking for a solution to the problem and will notify you if a solution is found"  I have not been able to edit ANYTHING or even drag files/images to the time line.... is it me? is my computer too slow? surely if it was, then Adobe elements 13 would not have installed in the first place? please someone help me sort this out as I have a deadline to make for a docco! thanks in advance Lyddy

    I've received the error "Adobe elements has stopped working" and then the program closes.  It has happened numerous times and now happens more and more often.  Does anyone have any fixes for this?

    I've been having the same problem.
    Win7 64bit 8GB RAM, 500GB free hard drive space.  All Win updates in place on a regular basis (last time was 2 days ago).
    I often get the "stopped working" popup message on my desktop right after I close the program (well, yeah, I would hope it would stop working when I close it) and also increasingly get it on the desktop when I open the program (before the PE12 screen opens).  This latter popup "stopped working" message will persist until I close the popup window, even though the program is working just fine.
    The most occurrences of actual crashes seem to be when doing a lot of titles (new or editing existing), when saving, and when exporting.
    For awhile it seemed (very subjectively) that rendering the project before saving or exporting possibly helped reduce the number of occurrences, but just now the "stopped working" message popped up and the program quit while I was rendering (got about 80% through).
    This time I checked the "check online for a solution" box, but to no avail--there was a brief period while Windows searched online, and then the program shut down anyway.
    I've tried rebooting, making sure other programs were closed, etc. but nothing really seems to have much effect.  The same project will save or export just fine on one occasion, then if I so much as change a word in a title it will become unstable.  The entire project is 26 minutes long.  One video track (2) with titles, one main video track (1), one audio track (mostly empty) of ambient sound with the video, one sound track.
    I will try Steve's suggestion of Ctrl-Alt-Shift for awhile on opening.  (This helps when PSE tools freeze up.)  Thanks for the tip!
