Elements 3.0 Macintosh

Hi There,
I am using an older version of Elements 3.0 for Mac.
Recently I noticed that I cannot use the pull down menu bar for changing the font family.
I have re-installed the program, but I am still having the same problem.
When I go to access the blue arrow to bring down the different font names, I see a shadow above the screen just right of center, but I can't grab a new font name.
The font size works, but not the font family name..
Any help would be great.
  Thanks,
    Eric
PS: I have tried different screen resolutions but that doesn't help either..

Quit PSE, then go to your username>library>preferences folder and delete:
com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
PSE paths folder
PSE settings folder
Then repair permissions and try again.

  • How do I re-download Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh?

I have been using Photoshop Elements 6 on my Mac for years and I'm used to how it works. I have a new computer and I need to download it. I have my SN # and all and it is registered on my Adobe account. The question is where do I get the download for version 6 of Photoshop Elements for Macintosh?

  • PS Elements 9 for Macintosh: Crashes on Start Up (after install)

I've successfully installed Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac (Intel) running the 10.6.3 and 4GB of RAM. After I go past the "Use as a trial" screen (and I skip the login step), it proceeds to load the app -- but crashes.
The Error log contains no apparent clues. I've un-installed and re-installed the app. I've repaired permissions. I have plenty of space on my Hard Drive ( more than 20% free space). So I'm stumped.

    Hey everyone,
The reason this MAY be happening could be due to prior installs of Elements Trial or even PS Trial. Adobe has a free download that may fix the issue:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
So follow these instructions, then re-install the software and it should work. Maybe. It got CS3 working for me (since PS9 wasn't going to cut it for me anyway).

  • Opening IPhoto Library files in Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Macintosh)

I cannot open files from IPhoto Library in Elements 6.0, running on Mac OS X 10.5.2.
Photoshop error message is "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
Is this the intended route for opening photo in the Mac hard drive?

    Brian,
    >Still can't open photos I have in iPhoto
What happened to the way that you opened them before: dragging to the
    b Elements dock?
    > I tried suggest Bridges>users>pictures>iphoto>Library AND then iPhotos Opens and that is the End of it.
Some friendly advise: Pick an app that best suits your needs and than stick to that particular app, (i.e. Bridge or iPhoto). You cant reasonably use both for the same purpose and than expect everything to
    b miraculously stay in order.
Its like having 3 different maids coming in to do the housekeeping: neither of the 3 maids is ever sure
    b where
the other has decided to store the mop or dustpan, and, to make matters worse, the owner is getting increasingly frustrated because none of the 3 maids can settle on a stationary place to park his favorite pair of house-slippers.
    b Turmoil City!
Same with your files: Bridge and iPhoto are constantly at odds with each other because neither actually knows what the other is doing to/with your picture files. One wants to store them in this corner, and the other, for whatever reasons, way over in some other obscure corner. So pick the one that you feel must comfortable with and forget about the otherno matter how tempting the bait.

Hard disk crashed, need to reinstall all software including Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac.  The download link has been removed from Adobe site and support is saying I have to purchase a new license.  I already have a licensed version of this product and this version is sufficient for my needs.  Where can I find the download link?

    Hi LincN44
Organizer preferences>media analysis, turn off everything in there,
    or
    On a Mac:
    1. Navigate to activity monitor.
    2. Select processes and "show all processes" in the drop down menu at the top of the dialog.
    3. In the list of processes, look for ElementsAutoanalyze.
    4. Select the process and end them.
    5. Reinstall the applications.
    Hope this helps.

  • Moving Elements 6 to a new computer

Hello - I purchased Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh a few years ago, and have now purchased a new Apple computer.  How can I install Elements on the new computer?  I tried copying the program but (predictably) it does not allow this.  I've also looked for a download image on the Adobe web, but could not seem to find this either.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.
    G

You would need to install the set up again.Copying the files will not work here.
Do you mean an installation program?   I don't think I have any installation program, nor can I find it on the Adobe website.
    Any thoughts?

Thanks, I'll try that 866 number if the "Check was mailed" icon on the website is another ruse.
    https://www.web-rebates.com
It just changed from "processing" to "check mailed" on 10-15-09.
    They're still evil.
The Premiere Elements 7 software is crap with AVCHD files and recodes files
unnecessarily and won't burn AVCHD Blue Ray folder structures to DVD-Rs.
    Should work on a 2.5G Core 2 Dou, 4G RAM, 200G 7200 RPM Seagate but doesn't.
It also creates HUGE amounts of extraneous files for every project.
Sometimes the project folder is many times the size of the  video you're tying to edit.
The Photoshop Elements piece is as adequate as any free image software you get with your digicam.
Might have to try running a flavor of Linux on the machine and get some open source editing software
and see if that works any better.
Anyone have any luck going that route?
    Thanks guys (persons).

  • How do I make a PDF Slideshow from Bridge CS4 with 500 images?

Every year I go for an extended photo shooting trip. I use about 400 to 600 of the images to make a PDF slide show. This worked fine in all previous versions of Bridge, but no longer works properly in Bridge CS4. I can create PDF files with up to 329 images, but when I try to make a PDF file with more than that, the PDF file is corrupted. Sometimes, the PDF file opens, but about 10% of the image at random location are corrupted, and their thumbnails show up as white or black patches. At other times, the file does not open in Adobe Reader. I get a variety of error messages. The most common is #109.
Just to be certain it is not caused by my images, I used 550 images I had used to make a PDF show last year with Bridge CS3. I get the same problem. The slide show created last year with 550 images in Bridge CS3 still works in Adobe Reader, ruling out the Reader a being the cause of the problem. It appears that some bug has crept into the CS4 Bridge code.
Unfortunately, a while ago a deleted CS3 from my hard drives without making a copy of the downloaded dmg of CS3, so I can no longer re-install CS3. BTW, other than this bug, I am very happy with CS4. As a photographer, I find the improvements made in CS4 ACR stunning.
Is there a known work-around for this bug?
Is it likely to be fixed in an upcoming update?
Is there a way I can download a copy of CS3 allowing me to install CS3 Bridge, or, if needed, the whole CS3 suite?
(I still have a record of my CS3 registration code.)

I found an answer to my own question. A work around of sorts.
Download Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh. With PSE6 I made a slide show with 550 images 1920x1200, without thumbs. I ran into one problem making the slide show. My images contained 4 images which had not ben created by Photoshop and could not be included in the slide show. Opening the images in Photoshop CS4 and re-saving them still did not make then acceptable. Not a big deal. I probably could have fixed the four images by stripping all EXIF data before opening them in Photoshop. BTW, PSE6 made the slide show in demo mode.
I hope the bug in Photoshop CS4 will be fixed in Photoshop CS5.

  • Pdf slideshow from PS CS4 - not bridge/output!

Does anyone know if I can get it back in the automate settings, perhaps as a legacy function?
I've just downloaded the PS CS4 and LR2 trials (and using the beta LR2.2 and beta ACR) as my PS CS2 and old raw plugin don't open my new cameras images.
imho I don't think they've really thought it through from a workflow pov, I provide both contacts and a pdf slideshow to my clients. If I use the bridge/output method for both on every job - and all the swapping over of the options that entails I will be smacking my head off the nearest wall after a couple of days.
The bridge/output also limits my choices severely - I thought the idea of upgrading was to IMPROVE functionality......... I'm not usually a grumbler, but I'm about to pay an upgrade price of nearly a grand (in £'s - not $!) essentially for a lovely raw plugin and nice LR2 web galleries - it's not looking like a particularly good deal :-(
I've found the "PS CS4 goodie" folder on the adobe site and installed the contact sheet II option into the automate area - it's just not practical for me to have a set of contacts in pdf format, it's definitely a step backwards for me.
I'd hoped for an improvement, with options to include a title, date etc - but nope.
I'm also not happy with the pdf slideshow in bridge/output - I miss the compression options, I often need to keep them small on the file front - whilst keeping the screen looking good (150ppi compression works well) - which I don't have the ability to do this in cs4, constraining to screen size choices with a "high" or "low" option is useless to me. I just don't get it - this is pro software - with a pro price - is it too much to ask for more pro workflow considerations? Come on Adobe, play the game......
Apologies for the rambling rant and general grumpiness - all help & suggestions very much appreciated :-)

  • Photo Editor Software

    Hello,
I have Photoshop Elements 3, I saw version 6 being advertised, I wanted the new version/features.
I soon learnt to my disappointment that there was no Mac version.
On investigation there is still not even a version 5 for Mac.
I have read many reviews on version 4 that are not very glowing, however all was fixed in version 5 and further improved in 6.
All the other programs I have tried either wont open raw files and/or just don't have the features of elements.
Aperture looks great but is $499 AU and for that matter Elements 4 for Mac is $163 AU and Version 6 for windows is $155 AU.
It looks like I have to win Lotto and buy CS3 $1125 AU or put up with with nearly 4 year old software ( Elements 3 ), at least it opens raw files and does the basic editing.
I just wish we could buy the latest software for Mac, I want to be able to do photo editing with the latest technology for under $200 AU like you can on windows with the 10 or 15 different suites available all trying to beat elements.
Does anyone know of a photo editor as good as Elements 6 for Mac under $200 ?
I can't find one, I don't want to go back to windows.
    Please Help,
    Rodney.

Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh is expected early next year.

I just switched and I need Photoshop Elements. I see they have a mac version 4.0 for $80.

If it is not, am I better off waiting for one to come out?

How do I know if this is a universal app which is supposed to work better on my intel machine?
    i Sez:
Any software that has been accelerated to take advantage of the Intel duo core chips will have the new Universal Binary label proudly displayed on the box right beside the MacOS label. The MacOS label is 2-tone blue & has the Happy Mac square and the Universal Binary label is the same 2-tone blue but it resembles a taijitu, the traditional symbol representing the forces of yin and yang.
This is similar to the Accelerated for PowerMacintosh labels back when Apple transitioned from 680X0 processors to the PPC chips. Older software would still work but it could not take advantage of all of the speed of the new processors. Elements 4 WILL work beautifully on your new iMac. The next version will work even better.
Photoshop Elements 4 for Macintosh is long overdue for an update so you can expect a new release of PSElements for Mac pretty soon. It will be a Universal Binary program.
Write to Adobe and ask when it will be available.

  • Install Photoshop Upgrade

Can I install a "Photoshop Elements 9 Upgrade Version" for windows and can I sign it up, if I only have a "Photoshop Elements 4" for Macintosh?

    Yes

  • Where was this file made in OSX Lion?

    Hello all,
I started a project in FCP and Photoshop almost a year ago that I've just revisited. I can't for the life of me remember if I exported the files from FCP or Photoshop and I want to keep things the same as when I started. How can I find out the info about what application made the files I exported when I began? Thanks so much!

Some, but not all, applications will tag the files they create with a "metadata attribute" that shows the creator of the file. This is different from the old 4-character "creator code" which is now obsolete. I don't know whether FCP or recent versions of Photoshop add this attribute, but it's worth a look. There may be 3rd-party utilities that can show this tag , but you can also do it with Terminal, as follows:
Open Terminal (in the Utilities folder), and copy-paste the following line into the Terminal window, followed by typing a single <space>. Do not type <return> yet:
    mdls -name kMDItemCreator
Next, navigate with Finder to the file of interest, and drag its icon into the Terminal window. Then click inside the Terminal window and type <return>.
By example, I have a jpg file on a USB flash drive, that is set to open with Preview and carries a Preview icon. Get Info does not show the file's creator. But in Terminal, I get this:
    $ mdls -name kMDItemCreator /Volumes/USB1/IMG_0231.jpg
kMDItemCreator = "Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 Macintosh"
As mentioned, though, not all applications will add this tag.
