Elements 5.0 slideshow to VCD

I created a great slide show using Photoshop Elements 5.0. I clicked on output to burn to a CD and everything looked good and it said the project was completed. When I try and play it back on my computer and/or DVD player it does not play. When I click on the properties for the CD, there are 5 folders, one is empty, the others contain only DAT files. There are no exe files at all. I want to send my slideshow out as Christmas presents and I am very frustrated. Please help
Operating System: Windows XP Home

Max,
>your response does not explain why this is happening. it is not good enough to say try something else. i bought elements 5.0 and expect it to do what it says on the tin.
Since I (and most other people repsonding on this User forum) do not work for Adobe we don't have WHY answers.
My experience has been that if your PC has software capable of playing the VCD (video CD) format and if your TV DVD player is capable of playing the VCD format (not all players are), then a VCD produced by Photoshop Elements will play.
However, many people are not satisfied with the quality of a VCD format image. Since the original poster specified PC playback using an exe file (which PSE does not create), I suggested the alternative of using a WMV file.
So the discussion in this thread is a different dilemma and a different solution than why your PC or your TV DVD player can not play the VCD format.

  • Elements 10 project slideshow freezes during output

Elements 10 project slideshow freezes during output.  When writing to CD it freezes about 70%.  When output to hard drive is selected, it freezes around 39%.  This is a show I have been working on for a few days.  It has been working but can no longer use the output feature.
    O/S:  Windows 7
I downloaded the trial of Premiere and the show outputs without any problems.  I don't really want to buy another program.  Can anyone think of a solution?

a lot of that didn’t apply and I’m not tech savvy enough to figure the rest out... but. I uninstalled elements and elements premier, I didn’t realize this allows you to de-activate as part of the uninstall process, in e9 I de-activated from the toolbar. I saved my projects folder from my catalog to a disk. When I re-installed everything and loaded my projects I was able to open my slide show. I also “refreshed” my Windows 8 because it was having problems as well.
I attempted to save the slide show as WMV again and again if failed, halfway through playback it froze and kept flickering. This slide show is only 4 minutes long with around 30 photos. I had used a different transition between each photo, I changed all but 2 to fade, this time it worked perfectly. I’m strictly an amateur, learning as I go, I intend to watch tutorials and learn more, but does it say anywhere that using multiple transitions in a slideshow can result in problems? I can’t believe it is my PC, I am using a 2 month old Dell XPS 8500 Special Edition, i7 3rd gen., 32Gb memory, Bluray burner, Radeon 7870 graphics with Windows 8, every driver is up to date.
    Thanks for your assistance. Darryl

  • Adobe Elements 9 Slideshow to VCD and WMV: AWFUL Quality and No Slides Appear

I have just creating a long slideshow  (~335 high quality slides) replete with music.  I converted it to a wmv file which resulted in a movie in which ONLY the opening slide is displayed.  The music plays but no other pictures appear.  Great.
I also created a VCD fromt the "Output" option on the Slideshow screen.  The VCD works sorta, but the picture quality is AWFUL.  The slides look like little thumbnails blown up 10,000%.   I have high quality images in (what I thought was a) high quality slide show.
The slideshow looks fine in Adobe Elements 9.  What happened???
Is this typical for AE9 or am I missing something???

Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio sound card
    Update:
I exited and restarted the program and tried the output options again.  The *.wmv file works now but the VCD is still lousy quality.  I tried the AE9 option to create a VCD with menus, but I can't find those menus on the finished VCD.  The VCD size is 250MB; my 335 slides should be close to 600 MB based on the size of the origianl pictures; no wonder the picture quality is terrible on the VCD.  Is there a way to convert the slide show to a VCD and control (improve) the quality?  The wmv file is 188MB, which is also too small, and i have that specified as max. quality.  As I said, it does look better than the VCD.   How can I export this slide show in max. quality?
    Thanks.
    Update Again,
I realized that NONE of the wmv files I created from my slideshow in AE9 have worked.  The music background is fine, but the slides progress to a certain point and then they don't change again. The show is stuck on a slide about half way thru.  This is awful.  The VCD's have the same type of problem in addition to the quality issue.

  • Performance problems when using Premiere Elements for photo slideshows

    Hello,
I had been using Premiere Elements 9 (PE9) to make a simple slideshow for my parents from their vacation trip and I ran into some serious performance problems.  I had used it to create similar projects before, but not nearly as big.  This one is like 260 photos, so basically it is 260 seperate clips.  I have a POWERHOUSE workstation (see below) so it isn't my PC.  Even when PE9 crashes, looking at my performance monitor my CPU and RAM aren't even halfway being utilized.  I finally switched to Windows Movie Maker of all things and it worked seemlessly, amazing really.  I'm wondering if I was just using PE9 for something other than what it was designed for since there weren't really any video clips, just a ton of photos that I made into video clips, if that makes sense.  Based upon my experience with this so far, I can't imagine using PE9 anymore for anything really.  I might have the need for a more professional video editing program in the near future, although it does seem like PE has a lot of features.  How can I make sure it utilizes my workstation to its full potential?  Here are my specs:

Intel Core i7-2600K 4.6 GHz Overclocked

Yes, this system is blazingly fast.  I have yet to feel it slow down, even with Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator and numerous other apps running at the same time.  HOWEVER, Premiere Elements 9 has crashed NUMERUOS times, every time my system wasn't even close to being fully taxed.

    Andy,
There ARE some differences between PrE and PrPro w/ an approved CUDA-capable and MPE hardware acceleration-enabled nVidia video card, but those differences show up ONLY in the quality of the Scaling. The processing overhead is almost exactly the same, when it comes to handling the extra pixels.
As of PrPro CS 5, two things changed:
The max. size of Still Images went up from 4096 x 4096 pixels, to quite a bit larger (cannot recall the numbers now).
The Scaling algorithms have been improved, though ONLY with the correct nVidia cards, with MPE hardware support enabled.
Now, there CAN be another consideration, between the two programs, in that PrPro CS 5 - CS 6, are 64-bit ONLY, so one benefits from the computer and OS to run it. PrE can be either 32-bit, or 64-bit, so one might, or might not, be taking advantage of the 64-bit program and OS. Still, the processing overhead will be almost identical, it's just that the 64-bit OS can spread it around a bit.
I still recommend Scaling the large Still Images in PS, prior to Import, to keep that processing overhead as low as is possible. Scaled Still Images work just fine, and I have one Project with 3000+ Scaled Still Images, that edits just fine in PrPro, even on my older 32-bit workstation. Testing that same machine, and PrPro some years ago, I could ONLY work with up to 5 - 4096 x 4096 Stills, before things ground to a crawl.
Now, Adobe AfterEffects handles large Still Images differently, so I just moved that test Project to AE, and added another 20 large Images, which edited just fine. IIRC, AE can handle Still Images up to 10K x 10K pixels, and that might have gone up, as of CS 5.
Good luck, and hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 aus Diashow VCD brennen

    Hallo,
    Gruß
    hgweiss

    @Matthias:
Einfach so. Weg.
    @Alooha:

  • Cannot play my Photo Elements 6 DVD Slideshow on TV DVD Player

    Hi,
I have PE 4 & Photo Elements 6. and Vista Desktop PC.
I have made a Slideshow consisting of JPEG pics, MPG video and MP3 Audio. It plays on PC's, but not on TV. HELP?

    Thank you---Thank you-----Thank you!!!!
    It worked!.
Can I not complete the task through PE??
The quality was not as good as on PC.
Also I noticed that the pictures were darker and the video was a little shaky.
    Thank you.

  • Playing Elements 5.0 slideshow on TV -pics look very dark

Help! I'm almost finished with a slideshow of my daughter's first year. I've spent about 30 hours on it only to play the DVD on TV and find that many of the pictures look super dark. I'm confused because the photos looked perfect on my computer screen. Am I an idiot? Is there an easy solution? Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of time.
    I'm using Elements 5.0 and Premiere 3.0.
    Thanks!

Since no one else has posted any suggestions, here are some thoughts.
1 - Can you try to play this DVD on a different TV?
It may help to know if this happens with multiple TVs.
What type of monitor is your TV - CRT, LCD, Plasma? What type of monitor do you have on your PC or laptop where you made the slideshow?
2 - Check the User's Guide for your TV DVD player and see if it will play JPEG files from a CD. If it will play JPEGS, write a few of the photo files which seemed the darkest during the slideshow, to a CD. Write just the photo file in JPEG format, no extras like music or pans and zooms. Then try to play that CD in your TV DVD player. Are the photos dark?

  • Using Elements to create slideshow to post online via iweb....

Is this possible??? I am almost at my wits end trying to figure out a way to create a slideshow to post on my site via iweb that looks decent.  iweb does have a slideshow it is only enabled IF the viewer wants to enable it.  One other thing that I have tried is uploading to other sites and copying the html and putting it in a widget.  This works great but looks terrible. Is there another way or does anyone have any other options?  Thanks so much!!!!

How are you hosting your site, and which slideshow are you trying to do? Which version of elements?
If you mean the html slideshow in earlier versions of elements, you would need to upload that to a separate folder on your website and just link to it (you'll have to edit the html of the completed slideshow to give your visitors a way back to the main site). That's about as much as you can do.
I'd suggest looking into something like rapidweaver rather than beating your head against the wall trying to make this work, or using a photo hosting site and linking to the pics from your iweb page.

  • Premiere Elements 12 photo slideshow

Hi! Im working on creating a slideshow that needs to be playable on both a DVD & online. I went ahead and created a test slideshow and while in elements it looks fine when uploaded to vimeo the resolution is really low and can not even be expanded into full screen without looking out of focus. I am sure I am using the wrong preset or something? This slideshow will be shown projected on a huge screen so the resolution need to be optimal.
Secondly, what is an easy way to add a white background to vertical images? Instead of the standard black.
Thank you so much in advance. I have looked online plenty but can not find a good tutorial on making this work.

    LucaZoPhoto
I am not sure whether you are in a NTSC or PAL setup or if your Premiere Elements 12 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer. For now, I will assume Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 64 bit in a NTSC setup. (NTSC vs PAL HD does not have the same significance as it does for NTSC vs PAL SD, but regional frame rates need to be factored in.)
All that being said this is what I would like you to consider for setting the baseline for your slideshow...
    1. 100 photos with pixel dimensions of 5735 x 3828 pixels. That is 3:2, typical aspect ratio of photos. For video, think 4:3 or 16:9. Here we are going to think 16:9. For your source, we are going to need batch cropping/resizing since we are going from 3:2 to 16:9 and not 16:9 to 16:9 in the resizing. Please check out the free IrfanView for this purpose or an alternative method of your choice if you have one.
    http://www.irfanview.com/
    I would suggest a batch cropping resizing to 16:9 2200 x 1238.
    2. Open Premiere Elements 12 to the Expert workspace and set the project preset manually as follows.
    a. In the opened project, go to File Menu/New/Project and set the project preset for
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
Before exiting that area, make sure to have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Settings on This Project".
    3. Then back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, import your photos via Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag your photos to the Timeline.
    4. Render the Timeline by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or by pressing the Render button above the Timeline. What does the play back of the rendered Timeline look like in the Edit Mode monitor?
If OK, you can apply menus via Tools/Movie Menu and/or move on to export....
    5. Export choices to consider...
    Publish + Share
    Disc
    DVD disc
    with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD
(Frame Size 720 x 480 with the 16:9 for display after encoding)
    Publish + Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with preset = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30
(depending on Vimeo's limitations at the Vimeo web site, that file could be uploaded to Video at the Vimeo web site from its computer hard drive save location.
    Publish + Share
    Social Websites
    Vimeo
    with preset = Vimeo HD
(but here the you will be uploading to 1280 x 720 @ 29.97 frames per second...no export settings customization)
Once we establish settings for presentation of good video and audio quality in a mini test run before the grand project, then we can detail convenience features, like applying the same transition more than one at a time, etc.
Depending on your computer resources, some of the photo sizing details could be stretched but since the max resolution in all this is 1920 x 1080, anything more than that typically does not improve quality and often jeopardizes the program.
Please review, consider, try, and, if clarification needed please let us know.
    Thank you.

  • Slideshows? In Premiere Elements 12?

I used to create slideshows using sound fx, music, and my stillimages (photos)....not video in my iMovie program. Then I burn them to DVD's and can share with others. Is it possible to do that in Adobe Premiere Elements 12? I downloaded the trail version and I am having difficulty figuring this out. Any help is appreciated.

Premiere Elements 12 Mac Elements Organizer 12 does not offer a Slideshow feature. The Elements Organizer 12/Create/Slideshow is a Windows Only feature.
You could build your slideshow (photos and/or videos included) in the Premiere Elements Editor, edit the Timeline content, add menus, and burn it to disc.
The Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow feature has been a Windows Only feature also for versions of the product earlier than 12.
Please let us know what supplemental information you need.

  • Purchased Premiere 13. Won't burn dvd of slideshow created in elements 12.

I created a slideshow in Elements 12. Saved as WMV. Tried to burn DVD. Get message inviting me to try Premiere 13 trial. Have already purchased Premiere 13, but Elements 12 doesn't recognize that.
Tried opening Premier 13, importing my WMV from file. Go to create DVD. After seeming to go through the entire burn, I get a message that says something is stopping the complete burn. Provides a link that takes me to a page not available. Is there a way to get my Elements 12 to link to Premiere 13? What else can I try?

    susanK
If you have outputted your Elements Organizer 12 slideshow to obtain a wmv file saved to your computer hard drive, you should be
able to import that into Premiere Elements 13 Editor with the Editor's Add Media/Files and Folders and edit and export accordingly.
There is no integration between the Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow Editor and Premiere Elements 13/Elements Organizer 13.
However, you can convert the 12 catalog in 13. But 13 will require you to convert the slideshow in that catalog to its new format which
is significantly different from what you have used in 12.
Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet. If you have, sounds like the program is using a new 13.1 feature which leaves you with .iso image file
if you hit burn to failure. You can take that .iso image file to DVD-VIDEO on DVD using a free program named ImgBurn.
You can also use Publish+Share/Disc/DVD  burn to Folder (4.7 GB) to obtain a saved folder containing the VIDEO_TS Folder that you can
get to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc using the ImgBurn program.

  • IFrame element from other website breaks Muse's basic slideshow widget

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what, but the minute I add this iframe element from a website that has a calendar on it, my site stops functioning and the slide show dissapears.  I've tested this in different ways and it all seems related to the iframe.  I'm not sure if this is just simply a z-index issue, or something bigger.  Essentially, adding this iframe element makes the slideshow widget dissapear.  Deleting the iframe element allows the slideshow to reappear and function properly.
Here is the test site bundled up for anyone who wants to experiment with it:
    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9wWFBnMitXKX3ZLWGk5c2EwLVE/edit?usp=sharing
Just preview in browser and you'll see it stops functioning, but if you delete the calendar iframe, the slideshow will function normally again.
So, is this a bug?  Its a pain in my *** because this is the final element that I need for my website!  Just getting this to work and I'm set!  An incredible frustration that I'm stopped by such a simple thing like this.

  • Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View List & Icon Icons Gone

Today at another forum that I frequent, a Premiere Elements 9 user was distressed because he could not find the List (Ctrl + Page Up) & Icon (Ctrl _ Page Down) icons that were found in the prior version of the Project Media View. The Icon view was particularly useful for sorting media before dragging to the Timeline or for the Create Slideshow feature. Now in Premiere Elements 9, all you have are your media in a list format with no option to sort.
This person simultaneously posted his question at another forum for which he received a reply and a workaround  which included going into the Elements Organizer/Create/SlideShow Editor and create a slideshow that could be outputted (Edit in Premiere Elements) back into Premiere Elements 9. I would take issue with that suggested approach since I believe that there is an easier and quicker workaround to overcome the inconvenient loss of those features in Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View.
First, the questions and then my workaround for this situation
Does anyone know if Adobe is aware of this situation and intends to correct this oversight or intentional change in features?
Has anyone come up with his/her favorite workaround for this matter?
Bottom Line for my workaround: From Premiere Elements 9 workspace, go to Elements Organizer workspace and create a sorted album of the media brought into Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files & Folders. Then exist Elements Organizer, opening to Premiere Elements workspace where one uses Filter by: Select Album and does just that.
I will post a step by step on my suggested workaround if requested.

I was trying to be discreet and have us still remain friends, so I did not mention the responder at the other forum by name or place. You let the cat out of the bag. OK, no offense taken please, but I thought that your workaround "Elements Organizer/Create/Slideshow/Edit With Premiere Elements" was "not so good" a choice. I will owe up to that.
None of the workarounds are as good as the Adobe Icon View of prior version, but....
Workaround 1. If your interest is getting sorted photos for using the Create Slideshow Feature in Project Media View. The secret is to put the photos in a Folder and then move the photos around in the Folder. I can go into the choreography on that if need be. Then highlight all the photos in the Folder, select Create Slideshow. Even if you do not go the Create Slideshow route, this is one way to get sorted photos for the Timeline.
Workaround 2. If the Create Slideshow feature is not involved. Going the create Album route in Elements Organizer.
Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files and Folders
    Add Media Dialog
    Select photos, Click Open
Select Organizer in the row above the line of Organize/Edit/Disc Menus/Share to open the Elements Organizer.
In the Elements Organizer, go to the Albums category and expand that category, then click on the green cross, and select New Album. On that right side of the Elements Organizer you will see a window with two tabs, Content and Sharing. Select Content and drag your media from the major window on the left to the Content window on the right. Name the album and click Done.
You will then see your Album name listed in the Album’s category. Click the green icon to the left of the Album name. When you do, you will see thumbnails for your photos numbered sequentially in the major window on the left side of the Elements Organizer. Sort the photos there as you want them arranged on the Timeline. Then exit Elements Organizer via File Menu/Exit.
The Premiere Elements Organize workspace will open. Go to the Filter by: Select Album and do just that, selecting the sorted album that you just created. Highlight the photos  and drag them to the Timeline.
