Elements 5 with Windows 8 problems

I just got a new Windows 8 computer from an old XP. I had Elements 5, and it was reinstalled along with my canon camera. I know next to nothing about all this and have my brother do it. I have not been able to get my Elements to work like it did on the Windows XP. When I used to plug my camera in, the Elements downloader would open and connect with the camera. Now I cannot get that to happen even though I see the camera in the drop down list. I have tried for a week to get it to get photos from the camera. Instead, another program from the camera gets them. I don't understand anything else, so want the Elements to work like it used to. So I went into the menu and tried many times to click on "Check of Updates" just like my guide said to do. But I can't get the update button to even work. Nothing happens if I click all day on it! So I am stuck. Is this problem with Elements working and not being able to update it have something to do with Windows 8? Will I have to just get it uninstalled? Using the My Pictures to do all this was always too complicated for someone like me!

The update command in PSE 5 never did anything, as far as I know.
Please download the PSE 5.0.2 patch and install that, and see if the problem goes away. If that doesn't work ...

I don't think uninstalling would fix the problem. I think you are going to have to learn a new way of doing things.

Time Capsule With Windows Problems

Hi,
I have a problem with my TC, i read every thread here and in other forums.
I spent Days and nights try to figure it out but with no luck at all.
I desperate here as i just paid $500 to buy the TC and isn't working.
*The Problem:*
1.I configured my TC many times with all possible configuration, the airport is working fine (LED always GREEN) but whenever i try to access the HDD it gives me: Username/Password Error, Netbios problem (Win 7) OR Semaphore timeout period expired (Win XP)...
2.When I restart the TC or the LinkSys It works one time perfectly but as soon as i change anything on TC or restart the computers cannot access again.
3. I used 3 Laptops to test, i even changed the router but with no luck.
4. Windows search and Minimum LAN Settings as suggested in the forums are changed but with no luck also.
Settings:
1. LinkSys (WAG120N)- Primary Router - connected to TC WAN port via Ethernet Cable.
2. TC Firmware 7.5.1 - Came 7.5 and updated to 7.5.1
3. Dynamic WAN IP, TC in Bridge mode, Static LAN IP (192.168.1.100)
4. TC Conf: Create Wireless Network
5. IP4 Conf is Manual, I put the router address 192.168.1.1 in the router address and in the DNS fields

moreover, i can access the airport utility perfectly, i can even erase the hard disk.
and whenever i try to access the disk via the ip address, i gives me "Path not found" and when i diagnose this it gives me "the resource \\192.168.1.100 does not accept incoming connection for file sharing"

File sharing with windows problem

I have a drive set up on my windows 7 machine as a shared network drive, all permissions are set to read/write. I have connected to that drive on my iMac running 10.8.2 with permissions set to read/write. when I try to copy a file to the drive I get this error:
The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access “filename”.
Sometimes I get this error as well:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “filename” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)
I checked the file itself and have full access permissions as well.
Let me know if any more information is needed.

Premier Elements 9 operating problems

I am just getting around to using Premiere Elements 9. I installed it and Photshop Elements 9 at one time several months ago and have used Photshop Elements with no problems.
A. When I start Premiere Elements and get to the Welcome Screen. I select "New Project" after a short period the New Project Window pops up. I can not enter data into the window. If I close that window, and go to File, New, Project. The New Project window opens again with the Name box Highlighted with "New Project". I give it a new name after which nothing can be entered in the other boxes and "OK" can not be selected.
B. At this point, I uninstalled Premiere Elements then reinstalled it with my installation disk. It promps to shut down the computer after disk 1 whick I did. After rebooting the computer, I again went to the welcome screen of Premier Elements and select "New Project". The new project window opens with the Name Box Highlighted with "New Project". I give it a new name and I can now select "OK". The program now opens. A box appears indicatiing there is limited content and asks to install additonal content with the content disk after which I then inserted the disk 2. It asks to select "Yes" but I can not select it. Therefore the Content Installation Disk will not install at this point.
C. At this point, I close the program and then Installed the Premiere Elements Content Disk. I restart the program and at the "Welcome Screen" I select "New Project". The program responds exactly as in the paragraph A. shown above with no access to the program.
D. I again uninstalled and then reinstalled Premiere Elements. At the completetion of the installation of disk 1, instead of shutting down and rebooting. I now install the content from disk 2. I now reboot the computer and go to the Welcome Screen and select "New Project". The program responds exactly as in paragraph A. above with no access to the program.
I am at a loss to figure out how to get this program to work. For your information, I am using windows 7, 64-bit on a Dell XPS 8100 desktop computer.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
Take a look at this ARTICLE, which starts with a checklist to get PrE working best. It next goes into a lot of troubleshooting steps to tune up one's OS, and computer.
I would also look into your dispaly driver, i.e. the video card's driver. What make/model of video card do you have installed?
What is the installed video driver's number/date?
Have you gone to the Dell driver download page, to see what the latest driver is? If not, that would be my first step, and download and install that driver.

I have Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 8.1 64 bit, and it runs well there.
But, I must disagree with SG when he writes
It will likely run. But it will not be able to take advantage of Windows 8's advanced architecture (including the 64-bit operating system and ability to access more than 4 gigs of RAM).
You can prove to yourself that Premiere Elements 10 is a 64 bit application running on Windows 8 64 bit. To do this use the Process Explorer Sysinternals and add a Image Type Column readout. When you do this for Premiere Elements 10, 11, or 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, the readout tells you that you are working with a 64 bit version.

And, as a 64 bit application, Premiere Elements 10, 11, or 12 Windows should be able to take full advantage of the 64 bit system when Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
I suspect SG is thinking Mac not Windows in his comment. It is my recollection that Premiere Elements 10 Mac is still a 32 bit application on 64 bit system. And, you are using Windows, not Mac.
We will watch for his clarification on this point or for support for what he posted as is.

This issue appears where there are any inconsistencies in your catalog (generally for video files). This issue may be due to offline files, missing files, video scenes. The recommendation here would be to fix these inconsistencies and try again. If that doesn't solve the issue, please follow steps mentioned in email by me.

Premiere Elements cause problems with Windows Media Center while streaming to TV.

I was having the following problem:
The audio from the streaming process of a recorded TV show on my HP computer to the remote receivers, a Sony Blu-ray player and/or a Sony Streaming Player, results in the loss of audio signal at exactly 30 seconds from the beginning on either devices. The video continues on as normal.
A user on the Windows 7 forum had the following possible cause and solution. His response was as follows:
I "solved" my issue, at least partially. Turns out for me a codec installed by Adobe Premiere Elements for audio (Main Concept) was causing mfpmp.exe to fail (you should see it getting an appcrash in the event log two or three times as soon as you start playing the media remotely.) This program is used by microsoft for DRM. I went through and one by one remained the various attached (non-microsoft) modules until i found the one that caused the appcrash. I haven't fully figured out if Elements is now negatively effected, but that's for a different forum.
I tried the quick fix by un-installing Adobe Premiere Elements. The uninstall solved my problem with Windows Media Center, but I want to re-install the software but I do not want to recreate the problem with Windows Media Center.
Is there another solution for this problem?

I reinstalled Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and the above mention problem reoccured. With a little detective work I was able to determine that the file causing my problem was "mc_dec_dd_ds.ax". I am not sure what this does to Adobe Premiere Elements 10 since I removed (renamed) the offending file. A strange side affect, renaming the file did cause an increase volume. Strange.

Problems with Elements and Windows 7

I have Photoshop Elements 3.0 which I have sued for many years with Windows XP Pro. I have changed to windows 7, and it won't install properly or operate. Is there a solution or an upgrade?

Photo Shop Elements 5 Problem with Windows 7 Premium Home Edition

I have been using PSE 5 on a laptop with Windows 7 Premium Home Edition and everything worked fine. I just got a new desktop running Windows 7 Premium Home Edition and I loaded PSE 5 on it and I can't get it to open up. The new desktop has a 64 bit processor and this is the only difference as far as I know. Has anyone else encountered this problem and were you able to overcome it?

i got an answer to use archive function from Mr. Romano:
I did as you said, but it did not work, I get the dummy video with no real video.
I had no menu yet on the video.
What came in my mind when I read your e-mail, on one PC is WIndows 8.1 64 bit and on the other Windows 7 32 bit.
When I load the videos from the camrecorder (tape) with Premiere Elements without doing something, I can switch to the other PC and it works.

How did you go about transferring the Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 7 64 bit to Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Therein is what I believe is your problem. You in all likelihood do not have a codec problem of any kind, rather Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 8.1 64 bit with disconnect between it source media and the project file. Here is how it goes.
When you import a file into Premiere Elements project, what you have in Premiere Elements is a copy of the original which is still at its hard drive save location. But the project must trace back to that original on its hard drive save location.
You may have the project.prel (project file) opening in Premiere Elements 12 on the second computer, but what I suspect to be the case is that you do not have the project media on that second computer.
If so....On the first computer, archive the project with File Menu/Project Archiver and its Copy Project option. Transfer the resulting saved Copied Folder to a USB Flash Drive which will be used to transfer the Copied Folder to the second computer. In the second computer, open the Copied Folder, right click the project.prel file in the Copied Folder, select Open With, and then Premiere Elements 12.
Did you set up disc menu in the Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit project?
Please review and consider the above and let us know if any or all of that applies to your situation.

I bought a new pc with windows 8.1. I want to install photoshop elements 10 (nl version) on my new computer, but I lost my license key. I deleted everything from my old computer. What do I have to do?

On my old PC with windows XP I was working with photoshop elements 10 ( NL version).
Now I bought a new faster PC (windows 8.1) and installed photshop elements 10 (L version on that new PC.
The problem is that I can't find my license key. The old PC is gone so I have a problem activating photoshop elements 10 on my new PC.

You can check you Adobe account online to see if the serial number is registered under your account. If not then your only option will likely be to contact Adobe Support directly thru chat to see if they can provide you with a/the serial number. For them to do so will require you being able to prove ownership.
