  • Tiger & Camera RAW for Canon Rebel XT (350D)

I'm trying to find out WHEN Apple will update either iPhoto or Tiger (presumably the latter) so that it natively reads Camera RAW for the Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D).
I've looked on both Canon's and Apple's site with no luck other than to find what I already know (that it's not yet supported). Has anyone heard rumor as to when support for this format might be forthcoming?
I already have Adobe CS2, so I have RAW support. The reason I want iPhoto to support RAW is so I can use the slideshow and "book" features without having to process my RAW photos into JPEG first (I have enough space on my Powerbook's hard-drive used up by RAW's already - I don't want duplicate files).

Well, I can't make iPhoto support XT RAW, nor can I tell you when it will. I do, however, have a workaround - if you have PhotoShop (may also work in Elements).
Get Dr Brown's Image Processor (free photoshop script) here:
    http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
This works with CS1 and is apparently built into the latest version of PS.
It gives you complete control over your RAW processing and then batch processes the files to JPEG (and/or TIFF and/or PSD). THe processed jpegs can then be imported into iPhoto. I have been doing it this way since long before iPhoto supported any type of RAW format.
iPhoto is great, and it is nice that they added RAW support. However, if you really want to shoot RAW on a regular basis, iPhoto is not the best choice to process your files. It does a good job, but a tool like PhotoShop (or the program that comes with your camera) provides a much higher level of control - which is supposed to be the point of shooting RAW. If you just want most of the settings to be "automatic" then you may as well shoot jpeg (which is actually a RAW file that the camera processes for you).
After doing that, you can save the RAW "originals" to CD/DVD/etc. to save space. If you really want to protect yourself, convert a set to DNG (Adobe's new digital negative format) and archive those as well. With all the different RAW formats floating around now, you never know what will be supported in the future. (Imagine trying to run iPhoto in "ClassicX mode" on your OS XXX system machine because none of the tools 25 years from now support the "ancient" Rebel XT RAW format!)

  • Plug in camera raw for canon 700D

I have a canon eos 700D camera and use photoshop CS5. I need to update the camera raw plug in, but I cannot find one on the adobe website site.

Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.4 which only runs in CS6 or CC, and by Lightroom 4.4.

  • Camera Raw for Canon Rebel T1i

    Hi,
Just bought the Rebel as a backup camera, I shot a few test shots in Raw format. I have Photoshop CS3, 4 and 5. I went to open the image and in each  case a message came up stating that photoshop does not reconize this type of image. Now, I have a  Canon 5D and I also do retouching work for a friend who has the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark 111 and raw images from these two cameras open just fine. Has Canon changed the raw format for the rebel and if so, what upgrade do I need?
    thanks

Canon changes the RAW format with EVERY camera they release.
Yes, you need to update the Adobe Camera RAW plugin.

  • Camera raw for Canon SX50HS

I am currently using Photoshop CS6 and can't seem to find any info for my new camera for processing images in photo raw. I checked out Adobe Labs and they don't list the camera, does this mean that it is just to new and that I have to wait for the update?
I also ran the latest updates for Photoshop with no success.
Any info about this issue would be helpful.
As a side note, I can edit the images using the Canon provided software, however I am taking a course in Photoshop and would like to use that software for the edits.
    Thanks

There is a dedicated Camera Raw Forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw
But your camera does not seem to be supported yet.

I hope you are aware that your camera manufacturer could just adopt DNG and thus not force Adobe to reverse engineer RAW format after RAW format.

  • Camera Raw for Canon EOS 6D? I use PSE 9.

Where can I download a Camera Raw version wich supports Canon EOS 6D? I use PSE9.
    Peter.

For the EOS 6D you have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software) DPP
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Camera Raw for Canon G1x-Mark II

I am currently using Adobe Element 10. Does anyone know when will camera raw file supporting G1x-Mark II be available?

The G1X-Mark II is supported by Camera RAW 8.4, which requires PSE12.
For PSE10 you can either use the software provided with the camera to convert the file to a PSE compatible format, or use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the files to Adobe's RAW DNG format that you can then open in PSE10 Camera RAW - http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html#downloads.

  • CS5 Camera Raw for Canon 5D Mark III

  • Camera Raw for Elements 10 for the Canon EOS 7D MkII? Downloading

Is there a "Camera Raw" for "Elements 10" for the "Canon EOS 7D MkII"?
If so could I please have the link to where I can download it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The Canon 7D Mk II is currently not supported by any version of camera raw.
It is expected that Camera raw 8.7 will include support and we are hoping that it will be released soon.
PSE 12 has ceased to be updated - you will either need to update to PSE 13 or use the DNG 8.7 converter (when it becomes available) to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - PSE 12 will then beable to use the DNG files.

  • Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

Is there a download for lightroom2.7 that will allow it to use camera raw for a Canon T3i raw files?

Thank you for the imput.  I don't know what you mean when you say LR doesn't use Adoble Camera Raw.  My LR2.7 is able to process raw files from my 20D.  I don't care if it does it with ACR or some other processing software.  The issue is whether whatever software is used by LR can be updated to deal with new camera raw files.  It is pretty annoying if it cannot be.  I would even pay a reasonable amount if that were necessary.
ACR is a plug-in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements which enables users to work on raw images from supported cameras. All of that technology that is in that plug-in is part of the Lightroom program, the plug-in is not used by Lightroom. ACR must be updated approximately 4 times each year in order to add support for new cameras and to make other changes in the plug-in. In order to get those changes in Lightroom, it is necessary to upgrade the entire Lightroom program. Interim releases are made available to Lightroom users who have purchased the program. For instance, if you purchased Lightroom 2, then versions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. are all available to you at no cost. But when Lightroom 3.0 is released or 4.0 is released, then it is necessary for you to purchase an upgrade in order to continue to get the updates.

  • Camera Raw for Elements 7 enabling use of Nikon D7000

I use Elements 7 with Camera Raw 4.5 I now wish to edit RAW
images from a Nikon D7000. How do I go about obtaining the r
elevant Camera Raw download for use with Elements 7 which will enable me to view and process
    Nikon D7000 RAW images?

The last version of Adobe Camera RAW that PSE7 will work with is ACR 5.6, and that does not support the newer D7000.
Either buy PSE9, or download the latest DNG Converter 6.3 and convert your NEFs to DNGs and open those with the older ACR.
You can get the downloads for both ACR 5.6 and the DNG Convert 6.3 by going to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and using the dropdown at the top to find Camera RAW for your computer type.  If you update Camera RAW then be sure to use the PSE-specific instructions on the page or in the readme.  The DNG Converter is a standalone program that operates on an entire folder of RAWs at a time.

  • My current Camera Raw 5.7 for Photoshop CS4 Extended does not support Canon EOS 6D. What can I do? Will there be a Photoshop Camera RAW for that?

My current Camera Raw 5.7 for Photoshop CS4 Extended does not support Canon EOS 6D. What can I do? Will there be a Photoshop Camera RAW for that?

You would need Camera Raw 7.3 or later to open those files. Adobe is not going to update CS4. You can either get a newer version of Photoshop that comes with a current version of Camera Raw, or you can use the DNG converter to save your files down to the ACR version that works with CS4.
